I love this series! Shifters, vamps and what? I am not gonna tell you what, you'll have to read it for yourself. No hardship there I assure you. There is a subtle difference with Kathi Barton's paranormal series, a bit refreshing for me, from the norm that is out there. Her readers will recognize that with The Golden Streak Series.
I believe Neal to be my favorite character so far. Yes, he is a bit alpha and ignorant of the exact way to treat a lady, but he has many redeeming qualities. Neal is genuinely likeable. He works hard, loves hard and is smart and sexy hot! He cares about Rayne and he seems to be respectful of her abilities. Rayne has been hurt, badly. She is slow to trust and very stubborn. The Goldens are also stubborn and will run right over you if you don't buck up, buck up she does. I love the flower shop. I love what the flowers represent. Loyal readers will also.

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Neal

Neal Golden is an accountant with his family’s firm, and like the rest of his family, he is a weretiger.
Rayne runs a flower shop, and is a powerful farie.
She meets Brock and Bronwyn when she comes in to bid on doing the lobby of their building. After she leaves in a huff, Neal is asked to go and talk to her.
He quickly realizes that she is his mate, and that she has a power that they have never seen before.
Of course then the battle is on. She dosen’t really want a mate, but she knows that she has no choice in the matter.
While she and Neal are working on their relationship, and learning about each other, she and Bronwyn are kidnapped.
Can Neal and Ryland save their mates, or will the girls have to do it themselves.
Come along and see how things work out. I know you’ll love it as much as I did. Such a rush.
Ms Barton just keeps getting better and better.

'Neal' is the third book in Kathi S. Barton's "Golden Streak" series and does justice to the phrase 'it's the quiet ones you have watch for'. He's the accountant for Golden Enterprises. Really, rather quiet and unassuming until he's not. Ryland and her mother own 'The Petty Flower' shop in town. She and had an appointment set up to be in the running to design and decorate the front lobby of Golden Towers. Unfortunately, she missed the appointment by falling asleep on the sofa while waiting. This is an intense storyline that continues to carry the main plot throughout the series while introducing overwhelming chemistry between our Hero and heroine that includes a few references to domestic discipline and a nod to kinky activities. I just love this family and can't wait to read Brock's story.

Once again, Kathi S. Barton has done it. I could not put this book down, once I started it, was very tired when I went to work in the morning as it kept me up till I was done.

It moved along at a great pace, keeping me interested from beginning to end. It has characters that you cant help but want to see overcome everything that may get in their way and a story that grabs you and does not let go.

Kathi S. Barton is an amazing author and I cant wait to read the next book that she comes up with.

Awesome.

Neal is the third book in the Golden Streak Series – this series just gets better and better. Rayne has been hurt in love and has special powers to help plants. You can’t touch her without her first knowing or you will be hurt. Neal is an accountant for his brothers and has grown restless. When the two meet sparks fly – literally. Neal has found his mate. Another must read by Kathi S. Barton. Would definitely recommend this book to others.

Kathi S Barton, very talented writer and author of multiple contemporary and paranormal romances, just published the latest installment of the Golden family- Neal. The good news: It was great! The bad news: Now I have to wait for more Golden men! (At least Goodreads lists that Brock's, Jules', and Keith's stories are coming in 2014...)

It's heaven when you find an author whose books you crave AND discover she has a backlist of books for you to devour. And then it's hell when your gluttony morphs into burning impatience when you have to WAIT for more. Kathi is one of my very favorite authors because, not only does she write great books, she does it quickly.

Neal has a special challenge in winning Rayne-she has a paranormal barrier to touch. If she doesn't allow it, the lightest touch by others will find them shocked and tossed across the room. Add her anger or fear to the mix, and the consequences can be deadly. She avoids people and creates plant masterpieces in the back of her shop while her mom works the register in the front.

Rayne is exhausted trying to keep the business afloat because some of her largest customers refuse to pay their bills. She is so tired she falls asleep waiting at her appointment to bid on a job at Golden Towers. Deciding she was disqualified from the running, recognizing she's surrounded by shifters when she's trying to lay under the paranormal radar, and after an inadvertent touch, Rayne flees the building.

But it's too late. Neal wants her-she's his mate-and he enlists family members and employees in a concerted effort to win the woman over. However, the attention and the connection to the Golden family has Rayne's dangerous past catching up to her. The ardent pursuit also becomes a desperate race to save lives...

Kathi S. Barton provides another thrilling read that leaves her fans eager for more.

“How do I kiss you? How do I get to see if your skin is as soft as it looks and as tasty as I think it is?” Her breath hitched a little as he lowered his head to her shoulder and inhaled deeply. “You smell so good to me. Like warm sunny days and sex.”
“You can’t do this. I’m a monster and I don’t want you.” He leaned in more and took a chance on running his tongue along her pounding pulse. She moaned as he pressed his mouth over it and nipped. “Please don’t do this. I don’t want you to get hurt.”

Another warrior to join the Golden clan who packs a big punch. Rayne is special, she has abilities that make her flower shop flourish and be deadly when warranted. Full of pride, spunk and sass she does not know what to do when the Golden's come in to her life. Neal is looking for a change, he needs a challenge and when he meets Rayne he might have just found what he needs to keep him on his toes. This is a great storyline, I just love when these two meet for the first time. The sparks between them are literally flying. The more the Golden's take over her life the more funny I found the story. The characters were great, the story moves along fast and you are quickly drawn into the drama. Peter was an interesting supporting character, he added mystery to the plot and made him a person of interest for the future. There is more to his story then we are seeing and I can't wait for it to come out down the line. I am enjoying the women who are coming into the these alphas lives more then I thought. They make you smile, laugh and most of the time they make me glad I am not the one who ticked them off. A great afternoon read leaving you wanting to find out what happens next.

Another 3.5 stars. I'm not sure this series is gonna look back up =(

I really did like the character in this story. Both Rayne and Neal are very strong characters. I enjoyed that even though Rayne has trust issues and is a little rough around the edges Neal loves her and lets her be who she needs to be.

My issues with this story were again the editing. There were people talking and I kept having to go back through and re-read to figure out who was talking and who was reacting, then to add to the confusion, there seemed to be so many different character perspectives. I was getting lost on who was the bad guy, who was good, and who was a part of the Goldens.
My last issue with this book was the fact that Rayne's time in the facility was glazed over. When you read Ryland (the first of the series) you find out all about Bronwyn and how she was sold to the people in the labs. But we never learn about Rayne's time, how she was in the labs and where the heck was her mother during this time?!?

Magnificent!

In Neal & Rayne's story you not only find out what makes Rayne so special but you also find out that in a way that Rayne & Bronwyn are kind of like sisters more than sisters-in-law because of their special abilities & who was in charge of the labs that they had been in; because on old nemesis is after Bronwyn & Rayne. Neal meets Rayne when he goes to her flower shop with his mother to help her get some flowers for her house & he scents Rayne & the fun begins. (I'm not going to tell you about all of the juiciest & good parts as you will have to read the book). This is a HEA story & can be read as a standalone but you won't want to read it as a standalone as this series is so magnificent that you'll either want to read books 1 &2 before you read this one or if you read this one you'll want to go back & read books 1 &2. This book contains ax scenes, tigers, wolves, vampires & some stupid males.

What should have been an easy task, instead put Neal Golden on a path to find his mate. When Neal meets florist Rayne Morrow he is instantly smitten, but Rayne has made it clear she doesn't want to be his mate. Neal is all about patience though and plans to court Rayne properly, of course she has a hell of temper that even frightens his brother and Alpha Ryland.

Of course you have the danger aspect with Rayne being hunted and all the Golden Streak favorites are in attendance. This is a very fun series and if you like strong woman characters, this is a perfect one. You also get the treat of meeting Rayne's best friend who is a vampire.

Once again, editing is a big problem. Many times I couldn't tell who was talking, as the POV jumped around. And How is it that a woman is so powerful that people are warned not to touch her, yet she can be beaten up? Hmm? And she and another even more powerful woman can be abducted? They sure took their time escaping, too. And the guys on the outside who wanted to rescue them, seemed like they were not in any hurry.

A good editor could have helped with all of that.

Sexy Accountant

Neal who is the accountant for the family never expected to find his mate while stopping at a flower shop. Rayne is a powerful woman who just wants to live her life by running her store and taking care of her plants. This was a great read from start to finish we meet some new characters and catch up with some of the old characters. I would recommend this to any one who love paranormal romance with a kick butt heroine.

Love, love, love Barton. Story was good too. My problem is I kept getting lost in the narrative and communications. I repeatedly had to reread to see who was talking and what they were talking about. If those items were not present the story alone would have warranted a 4 star rating. I will still follow the series, I just hope the next is easier to read. Fingers crossed!
