What happens when Lust, Sexuality, Devotion crashes head-on with Love, Submission, & Dominance? Like the powerful drug LSD, your life may not be completely under your control. That look across a crowded bar, a warning from a friend, finding out your fantasy is real, discovering your sexual cravings need more, and finding out you can’t keep all the facets of your life in the tiny compartments on a sectioned food plate.
Meet Kate McDermott, young journalism student and daughter of a wealthy, prominent judge running for the Senate. Escaping the career plans her dominant father has for her as a political journalist, and managing her career on her own terms, Kate decides to tackle the popular topic of the BDSM lifestyle. Enter Dr Drake Morgan, neurosurgeon, bass player, philanthropist and Dom - the son of her father's best friend. Through an agreement, Drake is Kate’s guide into the lifestyle, tasked to show her the ropes so to speak, but he notices far more in Kate's behavior than Kate is willing to admit to. Like a spark to kindling, what follows is a combustible, erotic, journey of discovery, and unplanned love.
This book was very enjoyable; the primary characters were well-developed, interesting and believable. The supporting cast, although not as fully developed, helped to tie the story together. The story had humor, emotionally touching moments, good musical references, and hot sexual tension. Unlike many of the current popular books these days, this story has no cliff hanger, is complete in one novel, and provides a satisfying realistic HEA.
The author did a very nice job in weaving the D/s elements of the BDSM lifestyle into the story in an erotic, tasteful fashion, never letting the sexual side of the story dominate the overall plot of the book.
I received this book from the author as an ARC for an honest review
