MJ Fields is a USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance novels. She lives in New York with her daughter Miss A, smoochie faced Newfie, Theo and the newest member to the 'fields crew, rescue diva / holy terror Eleanor. When she’s not locked away in the cave, she enjoys doing home improvement projects, spending time with her family, attending live music and sporting events, the theatre, singing off key, dancing to her own beat, listening to audio books, and reading of course.
Whatever happened to the saying, "Love means never having to say you're sorry"? You won't find it or the meaning anywhere near these characters. Each page is filled with one apology after another. Luke and Tessa continue to swear eternal love for one another but it seems that neither ever does anything to please the other one -- well, except their off-the-chart sexual escapades that seem to be the mainstay in their relationship -- and if she isn't saying, "I'm sorry" then he is. The monotonous theme is getting very difficult to excuse and continue cheering them on.
Never have I read a book with so many mindboggling and mentally challenging characters. Angst gone wild! And my patience is wearing thin but I trudge onward hoping for a miracle for all these deviously reckless and oversexed young hellions (high school seniors).
Even so, there is something -- and I'm unable to label it -- that keeps drawing me in and leading me on towards the next installment. It's certainly not the writing style which is challenging at best, including simple and uncomplicated editing problems throughout -- resulting in a rather low rating for "New Love."
This is supposed to be a young adult book so let me tell you girls, this is not how you're Supposed to be treated! This author romanticize cheating and near abuse! The teenagers this book are more like porno stars and I can assure you young "love" is nothing like this! The book is so poorly edited it's hard to follow the story! I read the first two and will not be finishing the series!
New Love is the second book in the love series and was an emotional roller coaster of a read. There may be triggers for some so please take note before you start this book. .
I am still struggling with Lucas although I liked him more in this book than I did in the first one; he still acted as a bit of a jerk. Lucas and Tessa have decided that it is better to be friends than in a relationship but can that work when strong feelings still sizzle between them?
There is a lot of drama and angst as they come to terms with their decision and new love interests enter the picture. Also some ex’s make an appearance which added to the drama. New Love is an emotional roller coaster of a read and there were times that my hear almost broke for Tessa as she struggled .
Just wow! So much emotional and drama and tears! I personally am so invested in Tessa and Lucas love story. First love is not always perfect and a happily ever after. I could relate to this book. This is book 2 in the world of Tessa and Lucas. It’s dual points of view and it picks up from when they agreed to stay friends. Staying friends for them is easier said than done. This storyline is so heartbreaking! Tessa and Lucas are each struck with traumatic losses and so much suffering, tears and new beginnings for their loved ones. The storyline continues with them struggling to keep a love that is imperfect due to stupid choices from Lucas! And towards the end after celebrating the marriages of family and friends. Tessa and Lucas going to different Universities and struggling to keep and hold on to their love, it ends with me desperately wanting to read as soon as possible Book 3! I love this series and no it’s not your typical romance but I’m cheering for them and hoping for a happily ever after for them! I was given an Advanced Readers Copy by the author through BookFunnel for an honest review.
Dear lord MJ's books suck me in like no other I can't put this book down I don't want to give anything away but I know I'm in total AW of this book so much. This one took me on a emotional roller coastal So many feeling after reading this book, I really started to love Lucas so much for being as f" up as he is but after finishing this incredible book I've come to the conclusion that Lucas Does Not Deserve Tessa!!!!!! I need Collin now please MJ my heart can't take anymore.
Skip read it.just no! Real life situations? One must be very stupid to be in those bad, awful situation. The relationship between the MC is truly toxic and the hero must die a slow death because I really really hate hom right now!
Ugh, for the love of God....grow a backbone Tessa. I’m so frustrated with this series! This book showcases exactly what NOT to look for in your first love. The relationship is abusive, and so unhealthy. The female characters are weak with no self esteem ☹️ how many times does your boyfriend’s penis need to fall into another girls mouth because he was “drunk” (off one beer mind you 🙄) before you leave?! Oh wait...it wasn’t his fault so forgive him for that! Or how many times does he have to act like a jealous maniac before you realize you don’t want to live like that for the rest of your life?! And don’t even get me started on these 18yr olds that are getting married left and right! I will continue reading in hopes that the books get better, since I have read incredible books by MJ....fingers crossed 🤞🏼

New Love continues with Tessa, Lucas, and the rest of the Blue Valley crew. Tessa is navigating through her heartbreak and suffers much more than any teenager should. Lucas is trying to do right by Sadie but suffering heartbreak and life changing things himself.
Again not wanting to give anything away I don't want to say to much... The Blue Valley Crew will face some life changing situations. Will they ever be whole again...
I've never cried so fricken hard in my damn life...okay maybe when I read the original...
This is book 2 so please, please read book 1 Blue Love.
I’m sorry but I had to DNF this one. Maybe one day I’ll pick it back up but I just can’t take the repetitiveness of Lucas fucking someOne else and Tessa forgiving him. Seriously, there are only so many time you can screw up and blame everything and everyone else or a poor childhood. This book should have been just a duet, waaaaay too long and waaaaaay too much drama. Sorry.

Tragedy, loss, and toxic love is definitely in abundance in book two.
Wow I have to say MJ, has given me so many emotions with this storyline. I have cried, and I have been frustrated, and even angry reading this book. I will say these characters are very much like living in the past with now knowing the signs of a toxic relationship when you see it.
This book definitely has so many tragic events taking place and so many things become much more clearer on who these characters really are. I will still say for anyone who seems to like Lucas, I am not one at all. He is a selfish person and his mood swings just make him even more of a volatile person in this book. I think if you have been in a bad relationship, you can start seeing the big red blaring flags ahead. I feel like this book has you feeling the heart pounding ache that you know this isn't going to end well, and definitely know this relationship is completely dysfunctional to say the least. I'm a glutton for punishment on this book because I can't put it down even though I truly despise what I read at times. So I will say this author has an amazing ability to keep you invested even though you know this will end badly by the time it's all over with.
Both Tessa and Lucas' relationships has its highs and lows and continues to follow a vicious circle of the same issues with no real change. I honestly feel like they live in a bubble because no one else seems to see the pattern of insecurities they both bring out in one another. This is a uphill battle for both characters but it always seems to be more emotional for Tessa than Lucas. I really do have such a hard time sympathizing with Lucas' character in each book. I think I personally know what it's like to have someone like him and it always feels like they suck your soul out of you. I feel like even though Tessa is by far the most forgiving and caring person she seems to lose pieces of herself from lucas' actions. I honestly feel like this book can be highly frustrating at times but also be a very emotional journey to follow.
I feel like my blood pressure rises at time reading this book. I mean how can it not when you can see and even feel some of pain that is written on the pages. This book is not a sweet love story but more of a "hey wake up and see this is not a normal relationship" guide in ways. I mean this is a realistic view of what toxic love is like and it's not good and this isn't a dark romance type of book, no it's a obvious story of a dysfunctional relationship between two very different but naive people with no one really there to guide them out of this. It's heartbreaking, and it's frustrating, and you definitely will be ready to throw your kindle many times, but you just have to keep pushing through to see or even hope what you can so desperately feel is gonna be something awful coming soon. I feel like I need closure so of course I will continue on this torturous path with these highly dysfunctional characters till the bitter end.
OMG.......I haven't been on an emotional roller coaster like the one I experienced reading New Love in a very long time if ever. I cried so hard with the things these characters went through and then laughed and experienced their joy. MJ Fields has created a storyline that feels so real you have to stop and make sure this is not happening to you. Tessa and Lucas go through so much as young loves. I wanted to shake Lucas and ask him what his problem was and in turn do the same with Tessa. The pain Jade had to go through. I don't want to give anything away so I'm just going to say that this is the best series involving young love that I've ever read. If you haven't read the first book Blue Love in this series GET it and read it and continue on. You will love these books!!!
Lucas Links & Tessa Ross’s Journey is not your typical love story, these are two people that will go through so many emotional events that will change their lives forever. This Amazing story will bring you on a sometimes heartwarming journey but their will definitely be some heartbreaking ones too. Watching the two of them navigate the emotions will have you sometimes laughing out loud but at times also shedding a tear. This is just book two in their story and wanting to know what happens next will have you sitting on the edge of your seat but hoping they can find a happy ending is something that you can only wish that they can find.
New Love is book two in the Blue Valley Series and it’s an emotional roller coaster about first love and growing up. This time we get to know more about Tessa and Lucas as well as catching up with the rest of Blue Valley crew. Tessa has been through so much and honestly my heart broke for her because no teenager should suffer the way she has. Deciding they would be better as friends rather than a relationship means putting their feelings on hold but is that really possible when love runs so deep. This is a very emotional ride so please be warned because there is plenty of angst, drama as well as heartbreak as this couple grow from teenagers to adults.
Again, I really love this story but the writing is awful!!! I am trying to get past it to enjoy the story but it's hard to! Not only the writing but the errors too! The editing is horrible! This book would be amazing if not for the writing and editing! I really love all the characters and can't wait to see how it ends!!!
Book 2 in the Love series it cannot be read as a standalone. Another emotional story. I cried and cried and cried again. My hear broke for her My heart broke for them. I can't express how much I love this series. MJ Fields has blown me away with this series. I love her Steele books but this duet is in a class by itself.
This story of first love and young love was one emotional read. The ups and downs of young love and the struggles that they face made for one roller coaster of a read that left me wanting for more especially since it is a relatable story. I look forward to seeing what is next for this pair.
Lucas does it again. He makes it so easy for you to love him one second and hate him the next....but I can't get enough! Tessa and Lucas' story is one of my favorites. It's real and it's raw. It's love and heartbreak all wrapped in an orange and blue bow.
Aaaaaargh.... I just wanna scream and pull my hair out. I mean I literally and feeling all the feelings. I can't eat or sleep this book has consumed me. M J fields is gutting me right now. I feel like I'm dying a little inside. Wtf.... This is so so so amazingly good.
It's been a long darn time since a book has so emotionally affected me. And, like I told MJ, I think it's because it feels so real, raw. The first love and heartbreak, the teenage angst, it's something most of us have experienced, so re-experiencing it in this book is like really hard therapy session (something Lucas Links needs!).
Lucas makes my blood pressure rise! The stupid games he plays and backward thinking. Ugh! "He's the boy you love to hate and hate to love," is right!
All right, so the beginning until halfway through this book, I had several of those ugly cries where snot and tears wouldn't stop. How much loss and pain can one person take? Those scenes, MJ wrote so perfectly in reactions and gasping cries (Jade retelling the incident, I prayed to God ... over a book!).
Then came so many laughs and aw ... moments. Okay, I can love Lucas now. He's just misunderstood and emotionally stunted.
And then the ending. F*** that! Lucas can eat a dick!
Hours later, book hangover from hell, my heart starts pounding and hands shaking again just thinking about it!
Whew, I need to get over this book. Where is the Tessa and Lucas support group!?!
First Loves stay with us forever & Tessa Ross found hers in the form of a white hat wearing quarter back named Lucas Links. Their story is one of young love & firsts. It's about the struggles of a teen girl who feels she needs to hold the weight of her families issues all the while falling head over heals for the most popular boy her school has ever had. Lucas has had his share of experiences with many girls yet has never known a girl quite like Tessa & falls for her faster then he can throw a football for a touchdown. This is an amazing story about the good, the bad & the ugly of being in high school & falling head over heals in love.....it's about the hard truths 1st loves come with & the struggles faced to keep that love alive. I love Tessa & Lucas's story & can't wait to read on LYA ~ i received an ARC of this new version of True Love~

So, I am totally hooked on the story, even though it does have some problems...for instance at some points things have occurred already but then later on in the story they have not, and the spelling, missing words and grammar need a bit of work...BUT the characters and the story are fun, hooking and one that I can't stop reading. I wish that this series was re-edited so that I could give it all of the praise that it deserves, but alas, these things matter to me and I can't not let other readers know.
Fall in Love with Lucas, Tessa, Collin, Jade and more when you read this story. It can be read as a stand-alone, BUT I would start at book 1 so that you can get the full effect. A good story, a good plot, just bad editing.
This story is why I try not to be a lookie-Lou at car accidents. Once you look then you can’t look away. This is what this “saga” is...a car crash and a train wreck. Once you look at all the carnage, you must keep staring. And...there is carnage. The setting is HS, so you have all those shenanigans. Plus, there is an actual car crash in the story. Lucas can’t seem to keep his pants zipped up. Someone is always trying to get in them Tessa can’t let Lucas go because she loves him. It’s a totally deep love because she is in HS and he is her first. Apparently, they live near farms and the h lives on a farm, so unsurprisingly there is a lot of drug use, alcohol, and church. Thankfully, the writing has somewhat improved, so I will continue my slog.
First, I have a really hard time following along with this series because it wasn’t edited. The paragraphs don’t flow very well and the transitions between POVs are not clear. Second, MJ is one of my favorite authors! I’ve loved absolutely everything I’ve read until this series. The story is raw and intense and I love that she’s writing about hard things in life but the character development and relationship development isn’t there. We go from nothing to everything in the span of a paragraph a lot of times. It’s not the robust character building I’ve come to know and love from her.
