Eli continues his journey of discovery and awakening. He enjoys more crossdressing and is further feminized, but he knows who he is at heart.
Some of Eli’s adventures put him at odds with those he holds closest while the cruel whispers of old enemies still affect him. His trust is misplaced more than once and help comes from unexpected places.
The college has something to say about his behavior, and Eli seeks help from new friends and a kindred spirit. Perhaps an enthusiastic femdom can change his perspective?
Some of Eli’s relationships are stretched to the breaking point, but he has positive interactions, too… however, they could prove to be even more dangerous.
Surrounded by deceit, even Eli's moral compass gets scrambled... by a certain pair of blue eyes.
Meanwhile, Bernie realizes his mixed signals could push Eli away. He must act quickly or face losing the boy forever.
This quick-paced installment is filled with lies, twists and heat, and it will leave you desperately yearning for the next and final book in the series.
From the delectably kinky minds of B.J. Frazier and Jessie Spectre, “Eli - Book Four ~ The Deception” is a must read!
B.J. Frazier is an award-winning author of erotica from the U.S. Her professional résumé includes high school English teacher, advertising executive, business owner, certified Master Sexpert, Relationship Coach, Love Coach, and Sexologist. B.J. draws upon her diverse background to create believable and relatable characters and stories.
B.J. also writes from personal experience in Femdom, which adds realism to her stories.
A self-proclaimed feedback whore, B.J. loves to receive feedback from her readers. The comments she never tires of hearing are, "you're so readable" and "your characters are relatable." The stand-out comment is from a very vanilla reader, who said, "I don't mean to be insulting, but I think 'Mistress Managed' can be mainstream!"
When she's not writing or reading, B.J. loves playing games of all kinds (except mind games--though she's good at those, too); board, card, dice, and especially word games. She also loves jigsaw puzzles, but is very particular: The pieces must be thick and interlocking.
Her happy place is Vegas, but she is also happiest spending time with her puppies, daughters, friends… and anything involving chocolate.
The fourth book in Eli Shaw’s saga doesn’t exactly ease you in—it drops you straight into the mess of his life, where sex, power, and dependency blur into something both compelling and unsettling. Eli, still a college student, is caught between exploring his submissive desires and trying to maintain what one can call a “normal” life. By now, he’s gone from a timid freshman to a sissy who actively performs on cam, though not always by choice. That decision, which feels half like curiosity and half like coercion, sets the stage for nearly everything that follows: his brushes with expulsion, parental disapproval, and, of course, Bernie Higgins’s relentless control.
Bernie remains the spider at the center of the web. He knows about Eli’s cam shows, the debts, and even Eli’s fantasies. He uses that knowledge to tighten the leash and keep the boy under his full control. On the surface, Bernie doesn’t hesitate in offering help with Eli’s college troubles, but it becomes obvious that what he is aiming for is adding just another layer of manipulation. What’s tricky, though, is that Eli still wants to believe in Bernie’s affection. That push-and-pull—between seeing Bernie as a caretaker and recognizing him as a predator—is what gives the book much of its tension.
Stylistically, the book is relentless. The pace is quick, mirroring Eli’s own inability to pause and process what’s happening to him. The authors write in a straightforward, descriptive style that doesn’t dress up the sex or soften its edges. At its best, that bluntness keeps the narrative sharp and immersive. I feel readers reaching book four are now familiar with the authors’ writing style, and it is something I really like and appreciate.
Character development is strong, and all the previous books should be taken into account. Eli isn’t the same boy we met in Book One. He’s more aware of what he wants, whether it is submissively or erotically, but he still can’t fully recognize how trapped he is. Bernie, meanwhile, remains a paradox: undeniably manipulative but also oddly protective, even tender in flashes. Supporting characters like Clem and Philip prevent the book from becoming one-note; they add different textures of support, skepticism, and challenge to Eli’s world. Clem especially acts like a mother to Eli and a friend to Bernie. She wants for things to work between them. I consider her the glue that keeps everything tied together.
Overall, Eli – Book 4: Deception may not be an easy read, but it’s not trying to be. It’s provocative, fast, and emotionally charged, dragging readers into the same exhausting orbit Eli can’t escape. If you’ve followed the series from the start, this installment will likely feel both satisfying and alarming. And if you’re new to it, honestly—you’d better start at Book One. This story only makes sense when you’ve seen Eli’s entire descent, step by step.
Wow, what an emotional roller coaster the Eli series by B.J. Frazier & Jessie Spectre has been. Just when I think I have it figured out, when I’m sure I know where it’s going, it throws in a new twist, challenge, or development. Knowing how my heart has swelled for Eli, only to break time and time again, I know what the poor boy must be feeling.
This volume gives Eli some space, distancing himself from everything at home by sending him out of town for the weekend, and that allows him to explore who he is. It’s a very sexy excursion, and one that involves black mesh femboy formal wear, dinner with a porn star, and . . . well, exactly the erotic escapades for which you’d hope.
But then there’s a twist, only we learn it may not be as big of a one as he seems to feel it is, but we have the luxury of not being the ones hurt.
Back home, Eli finds himself wanting to be a better submissive, and struggling to balance the role with the romance, which isn’t easy when he’s keeping secrets of his own from Bernie. Adding to his confusion is an unexpected public confrontation with Zac, his partner at Bernie’s shop, and an awkward session with a dominatrix, whose behavior shows him the difference between a scene and a relationship.
Clem really steps in here, guiding the boy and forcing Bernie to see what’s happening. It’s an interesting dynamic, and she’s a fascinating character – almost motherly at times, and sexually dominant at others. It’s a shame neither listens as well as they should, never mind communicates as well as they should, because it leads to more pain, more damage, and more conflict. It all adds yet another layer of confusion to Bernie’s true intentions, which is the last thing we – or Eli – need.
Speaking of which, the story once again ends on an ominous note, but the good news is all shall be revealed in the final chapter!
Without giving away spoilers, I can say that Eli experiences a lot of growth in his kinky journey in this book. However, he does suffer from this problem of bottling up how he is feeling and difficulty setting boundaries that I can relate to as a submissive. He is full of self doubt and fears expressing any negative feeling or even needs and desires will end in rejection, so he keeps secrets. The communication problems are not one sided and this book is a thesis on the problems a lack of clear communication can cause in a BDSM relationship. As such, a collision and inevitable confrontation is set up that is well written, if painful at times to watch. I am looking forward to seeing if anything can be salvaged and how in book 5.
In book four Eli continues to learn and grow. It’s hard to blame Eli for some of the misunderstanding he has. He’s so young and has so much to learn about life. His relationship with Bernie is still complicated with ups and downs that confuse Eli. Both parties are still not as open with each other as you’d hope. More interesting adventures for Eli and I think you can see him growing a starting to mature a bit. Near the end of the book there’s a hint that we’ll maybe learn why Bernie is acting like he is.
Make sure you have plenty of time before you open the fourth installment in this series. Once you start, you won't want to put it down.
B.J. Frazier and Jessie Spectre go together like peanut butter and toast. We know this from the first three volumes in the Eli series. Their work is so seamless that even their editor has some trouble telling which writer is responsible for what, or so I'm told. This is a collaboration that should have readers demanding MORE!
In this volume, we see the continued evolution of young Eli Shaw who started the series as a college student who suddenly discovers an entirely new aspect of his emotional and sexual self. The entire series (five volumes) maps Eli's journey from sexually/emotionally conflicted college freshman to cross dressing gay submissive.
Another reviewer described the pace of this volume as "relentless," and I agree with that assessment completely. There's a lot going on in Eli's life and he finds himself questioning who he can trust while at the same time keeping his own secrets. It's a lot to unpack, but Frazier/Spectre are up to the task, skillfully employing their cast of characters who help (and sometimes hinder) Eli in his quest of self discovery.
As has been seen in the first three volumes of the series, the heat to plot ratio is well balanced, the dialog crackles, and every word serves a purpose in terms of plot and/or character development. We learn more about each of the characters and readers will finish this volume demanding more.
I have no hesitation at all about giving this work five stars and highly recommend it. If you are stumbling on this review without having read the first three books in the series, I strongly recommend that you start at the beginning. You will be totally hooked by the end of the first chapter.
This was an incredible 4th entry into the Eli saga that is both tantalizing and heart-felt. There is so much sex and sex focused scenes that it's impossible to not be in a constant state of arousal while reading. The way BJ Frazier and Jessie Spectre are able to vividly implant images of these erotic encounters should be criminal. Their words come to life and impose themselves on the readers mind and leave you panting for more. I found myself needing to bookmark certain scenes just to experience them again.
As much as this is a smorgasbord of curious, gay, bi, and femboy sexual desires, there is a ton of heart and growth that everyone can enjoy. Eli is coming into their own, and with that comes his confusion about what he deserves, wants, and how it plays into his role as a submissive. While he figures these things out, there are a ton of wonderful supporting characters that really come to life and you can see the impact they have on this young man.
There are returning characters from earlier in the series, I always need to mention the fabulous Domme Clem, and new one's that are fun and memorable. There is development in side characters that make the world of Eli feel authentic, and their varying levels of import and affect they have on Eli's life shows how much detail and care the author's have invested into Eli. I'm so glad I've been able to witness the growth of Eli throughout the series and cannot wait for what comes next!
Eli has definitely grown in this book. Grown in all areas of his life. He allowed himself to be who he always has been (and wants to be). He got more and more self-confident. Eli even learned how to get what he wants. And exactly the latter became his biggest problem. He was exposed to so many emotions, situations and new persons - his still young and unexperienced mind and heart was simply overwhelmed. Lucky Eli, he has awesome 'real' friends, who help him to get back on track.
Ups and downs put smiles on my face and brought tears to my eyes. And not to forget the steaming hot scenes *grin*
The end of the book left me in a expectant and very excited mood, not just because of a cliff hanger in the very last scene. I must know how things go on. Eli - Book Five ~ Triumph - I'm coming.
Eli is slowly coming to his senses as the overwhelming number of choices coming his way threatens to consume him. Bernie and Eli continue to fence with each other, constantly breaking their D/s dynamic as Bernie starts to realize how important Eli is to him. There are so many deceptions between the characters in this book I think it should be called "The DeceptionS".
Another fun book, should have left a review sooner, hard to put down ,had to read all at once.it kept going with suspense, Eli ever evolving. And new characters . This keeps up,I will be Eli . Going on to the next chapter of young Eli life .
