When an old friend suddenly reappears, a mysterious darkness begins to hound her. Shadowy truths will claw their way to the surface to finally see the light of day. Life and death hang in the balance when a long-buried secret refuses to stay dead.
As Abby’s black and white world spirals down into a treacherous sea of grays, she is forced to confront the evil stalking her before it consumes everything she loves.
Jools Sinclair lives and writes in the in-between world of Bend, Oregon, where sunlight kisses snow, mountains reach for the desert, and long summer days cascade into night. She watches it all, perched atop her butte, with her giant orange cat.
4.5 stars. Another great one in the series I'll never get enough of! I absolutely love the characters in this series. I'll be waiting patiently for the summer to read book 8. And again...I teared up in this one.
Always look forward to the next book in this series and when they come out I am worried it will be the one to make me lose my love for the series overall...thankfully this book has once again delivered what I love from these books and remains faithful to the previous offerings from the author. Another great story which is well delivered and I simply loved reading.
Unfortunately the last books haven't kept my attention anymore. I always hope that the next book will get back to the level of the 1st one, but no such luck. No suspense and the story keeps dragging on. And yes, there is a 8th book in the making, and yes, I am still going to read it as I would like to know what happens next. The big question is: what will happen to Jesse? Will he move on? If so, completely understandable, but oh so sad! He is my favourite character after all. But life goes on, ... even after death, and even for Jesse! And perhaps with him gone, Abby will finally grow up!

I enjoyed the book well enough, but I'm struggling to figure out the point of it. As the book ended, the one thing that popped into my mind was "that's it?" Don't get me wrong, I love this series and I would be happy to own a hard copy of the series, but I just didn't get the point. There was nothing exceptional about it. I love Abby Craig, her friends ( I wish there was more Mo action) Jessy, Ty, Ty's dad....I loved the characters. I think it was the plot that fell flat. I'm definitely going to finish the series, I just hope it picks up.
So, this one was a little slow for me. I felt kind of like it was building up to something REALLY REALLY REALLY big, and then it never happened. I was like "oooooo.... So and so... Big surprise...." (That was said in my sarcastic voice). And I felt like the ending was little blah. Love the series, don't get me wrong. But this was my least favorite so far.
an old friend returns to Bend and a blackness also makes it arrival along with a ghost dog. Nathaniel is back in ghost form causing mischief and we are left wondering if Jesse will stay or finally move on - allowing Abby to finally move on completely with Ty. I do hope he does as as much as I love his character he is holding Abby back
I LOVED this one. The prologue is especially breathtaking, and reading this one felt like meeting old friends again. I thought the story was nicely paced, and there were several times when it gave me the chills. Literally. Jools is a master of suspense. As always, I can't wait for the next one!!!
I love books about anything paranormal and the 44 series by Jools Sinclair does an excellent job of suspense and ghosts! With this being book 7 in the series, it was like meeting old friends again. Another good read!
I think this is the 1st book in the series that hasnt made me cry at some point, and Im not sure thats a good thing... Something just seemed to be missing. It was still an enjoyable read, and having everyone back together again was great, and of course Im still looking forward to book 8.
I'm following all the 44 serie. This is the best book for me. I like the Jools' style. English is not my 1st. language. Jools' writing is very clean, and easyly understood. I just think Jools have to find other story, and other characters. But for now it's very nice.
The books in this series are such an easy read; it only takes a couple of hours to finish one. Luckily, the author doesn't over-price them. I still like how the characters and story are progressing. Abby needs to start advertising she can see ghosts instead of hiding it.
I still love the books. Although this book seemed to be missing something and I believe it was "Drama". I hope it is because Jools is trying to get us ready for book 8 and that it will be drama filled. Can't wait to read the next book.
This series just keeps getting better and better. Still there's the comfortable pace, but their's so much brewing that you just know is going to hit you hard at any moment.I like how she brings in new characters and adds to that of the others.
I still love this series, but this book almost seemed like filler material. I wanted more to happen, and I didn't get any anxiety reading this. The build wasn't there for me.
Another wait to find out what happens with Nathaniel.... This book was an emotional roller coaster, so many sad points and unexpected truths...hope the next one comes out soon!
This series just gets better and better. New characters, new twists, and new developments. I was in tears at the end of this book and then stunned at the surprises still to come.
Not to be missed. Jools Sinclair grabs you and pulls you in and won't let go until you've read the entire series. But start at the beginning and you won't forget this series soon.
