A stunning literary debut imbued with passion, honor and tragedy. Draws the reader, from the very first word until the very last, into a world where the real and the magical become inexorably entwined.
I would give this book a higher rating, but the ending was just sort of limp. I loved the utterly delightful characters and found myself laughing out loud constantly. I just loved it because it was very Felliniesque in ways. All the characters, inlcuding the fanatical Dr. Puzo and the alcoholic Father Vincenzo were very charming.
This is the best novel I have ever read about a dentist.
