5.0 out of 5 stars Tantalizing teaser, March 7, 2013 By Fran Veal Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: The Guardians - Episode 1 (Kindle Edition) As someone familiar with the sci-fi work of Linell Jepson and Bryden Lloyd, I eagerly downloaded the Guardian, a nine chapter novella introducing what promises to be an exciting, action-packed series. The vivid description of the world of the Loranians had me captivated from page one, but I was quickly caught up in the story of the League of Eight, an interplanetary alliance, and the battle they embarked on to avenge the planet of one of their allies. I literally could not put it down. The characters were well developed, the action believable, and the story engaging. I can't wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds.
Considering how brief the book was, the author did a fine job of building out the setting and setting up the action for the rest of the series. The book was almost all a battle sequence from beginning to end, but it was well choreographed and executed. My only real complaint is that the book was so short it didn't have enough space to really flesh out the characters.
Wow what a great read. Vampires in space, with a connection to the legendary Dracula. A fast-paced exciting story and I was so very pleased to see the return of Onio who is one of my favorite characters.
This story is a testament to the writing craft of both Linell Jeppsen and J Bryden Lloyd, and I look forward to reading the rest of this series with great anticipation.
