Someone “stole” SpongeBob’s spatula. Using quotes around stole because basically SpongeBob just can’t find it in the case. So naturally he becomes a detective to look for it. We’ve had a few detective episodes in the show itself the best I’m my opinion being squid noir. So does this hold up to that?
Not really.
The plot is predictable and feels like a twist on the plot of the one episode “patty caper.” But I don’t think it was actually inspired by that episode that’s just coincidental.
Overall well it was an Original plot I didn’t find myself too engaged by it. But since it comes with shiny pretty stickers I bumped it up one star from a 3 to a 4 But just note the story alone minus the stickers is only really worth 3 stars.

If your a SpongeBob fan this book will come without enough stuff to keep you pleased though!

These mysteries don't give anything to the reader. The answers pop out of nowhere and there never any clues to let you guess from. They're short stories about Spongebob and Patrick being misdirected for no reason. Not fun.

Great!

The kids loved the story and I loved the quasi-reference to Sherlock Holmes. Wish the story was a little longer.

Eh. I thought it would be better. I'm not ashamed to say I find the SpongeBob show amusing, but this book wasn't up to par with it.
