Tycoon seeks wife for one week's employment— In order to secure a contract, Spence Tyack needed a wife for a week. A wife he could show in public, and bed in private. But who could fill the position? Certainly not his buttoned-down, efficient assistant, Sadie Morrissey? But Spence was in for a big surprise. It seemed Sadie was ready to step into the role—and not only was she sensible in the boardroom, she was sensual in the bedroom!
Anne McAllister has written nearly 70 romance novels for Tule Publishing and Harlequin Books.
She has won two RITA awards from the Romance Writers of America — for COWBOY PRIDE and THE STARDUST COWBOY — and has had nine other books which were RITA finalists.
Her books have also been finalists for the National Readers’ Choice Award. She was named Midwest Fiction Writers “Writer of the Year” and also received Romantic Times’ Career Achievement Award as “Series Author of the Year.”
But while the awards and sales are wonderful, Anne thinks the best part of writing is telling the story. With every new book she writes, she meets new characters – or gets to know old ones even better – and discovers what makes them and their relationships tick.
It’s the relationships that interest her most and the question about “where do you get your ideas?” has always astonished her as she has more ideas than she knows what to do with!
As I usually do with Anne McAllister's works, I enjoyed this book. I don't know if it's because I've been glomming on her books like crazy for awhile, or if it was something about the book, but this was a slow (not-very-compelling) read. It's a friends-to-lovers story, which I love, and the characters were nice. The only concrete thing I can think of that bothered me didn't come till quite late in the book, and that was the final conflict. The ending, set up as it was, made it impossible for me to believe in the HEA, so it definitely was not one of my favourites by this author.
Such a fantastic read, really liked Sadie-Spencer,both are in love but cause Spencer has suffered emotionally by his parents which left him thinking he is just not good enough,he does'nt believes in love after being jilted by Emily he is more adamant now and Sadie who has known Spencer all her life loves him but Spencer has always acted as he only sees her as his friend,Spencer also feels attraction towards Sadie but being warned off by Danny he keeps away but then Emily jilts him and he is shattered and Sadie is there for him
They get married but as soon as Spencer is up next morning he thinks he made such a blunder Sadie deserves a good guy not him so he files for divorce and Sadie she is heart broken now its been 4 years and Spencer is getting married to Dena all for business reason, asks Sadie to bring divorce papers and BC and there's a shocker these two were never divorced, they are married
From there on we see how fate has given them second chance at love and marriage, they have issues but finally love wins and they have their HEA
Egoistic H. He wanted to get married for business sake. Asked his assistant to bring his birth certificate and their divorce paper to his wedding. Turned out they were still married even after 4 years cause the stupid H didn’t bother to open up the letter from the divorce lawyer. He just assumed the divorce was done. So h need to stay married with him for another week to impress his business partner a Japanese man who was a family man. H tried to hide his attraction to his wife but came out being mean to her. Duhh. He saw her naked and went away to control himself. She lowered her pride by seducing him to sleep with her. She even expressed her undying love to him since she had love him from childhood. Duh duh duh. They were happy til the issue of children arised. H didn’t want children due to his crappy ubringing. So h left and took another job. A few months later, H came to her as he thought she was engaged with another man. Said now he was ready to have children. h eagerly accepted him.

First, the series title as designated by Goodreads (Beware of Greeks) is totally misleading! Both MC's are from Butte, Montana with no connection to Greeks/ Greece at all!
That said, I thought this was a decent story. I didn't see the twist at all!
Sadie has been working non-stop for Spence for the past 6 years and she's been in love with him since high school. For a work deal, Spence realizes he needs to marry and decides on a co-worker, asking Sadie to bring his birth certificate to the courthouse, as well as his divorce decree. Sadie shows up though to tell him that he can't get married because he's still married to her. Evidently Sadie and Spence had tied the knot in a quickie Vegas wedding one drunken night, making Sadie's dreams come true, but the next morning Spence regretted all of it and promised to file for divorce. Only he never completed the paperwork. So Spence takes Sadie on the business trip, desperately trying to keep things platonic. Sadie though, wants a second chance with Spence. She wants to make him realize this marriage could work and fight for her love.
This was very nearly a 4 star book because clearly, this author is a talented writer and writes a very engaging story. I loved the emotional angst, as Sadie struggles with loving Spence and believing he'll never love her back, as Spence continues to deny their feelings. I liked Spence's struggle to keep things platonic with Sadie, believing she deserved better than him and had only married him out of pity. But what I wish had happened, was some sort of discussion about their earlier relationship, about their marriage. Apart from one sentence, Sadie and Spence never talk about the fact that she's loved him forever, she married him because of that love and that she was gutted and heartbroken when he decided to divorce her and live platonically for 4 years. Nor does Spence talk about his thought processes. I felt like that needed to be included here. The whole issue with wanting a baby, while not my favorite storyline in the world, didn't bother me too much. Sadie didn't leave because Spence refused to have children but because to stay would mean agreeing with his parents that he was unworthy. But I can't help but feel that Sadie should have been so much clearer about that in her note to Spence. Because the message he received is that she didn't want him without children in their future. So that wasn't really talked about either. And I wonder how long it would have taken Spence to come after her if Mateus hadn't gotten engaged...years? never? Spence thought that Sadie had taken up with Mateus (reinforcing my belief that Spence thought Sadie only wanted kids) and was trying to let her move on and be happy. So even though he'd been such a clueless idiot in the beginning of the story, I think I may have loved him for that alone.

Spence Tyack has one passion, his business. Sadie is his first employee and the top assistant. They grew up together and Sadie's older brother is Spence's best friend from high school. Small world. Sadie has always been in love with Spence and has waited for him to notice that she is a woman and not just an employee. Well, there is a marriage scenario that is really ridiculous that I will not spoil here, but to sum it all up, they are still married (and have been for four years!) after a one-night-stand-marriage. I'm not sure why I finished reading this story because it was light as fluff with no mystery or story to it, but I liked Sadie and Spence. Spence is just the classic clueless hottie which happens to be exactly my 'type' of guy and Sadie is sassy and doesn't let him run her ragged. Cute story 2 and half stars for typical Harlequin Romance
It's ok. It helps pass the time. Wish I can find a book that will WOW me. It's been a while.
Anyway this book was just ok. The way it jump from one scene to another is not smooth. And the big gap of years after their wedding night & still being together and not at least tempted? Hmmm makes you think their feelings are not too strong. But then they start declaring each other's love when they're in the cottage/bure. Wth?

Spence grew up in a terrible family situation, parents unhappy, accusing Spence of ruining their life and he'd never amount to anything. So Spence is a workaholic, multimillionaire with no life. His assistant Sadie has loved him forever and 4 years ago they married and within 12 hours were divorced because Spence didn't want to ruin their relationship, not knowing how Sadie felt. But in the end. They are in love together
I read this in one day. Caught my attention with the sample and after I purchased the full book I couldn’t put it down till I was done. The story is different since they are married before decorations but it wasn’t out of convenience. I recommend reading this book if you love Harlequin Presents.
I needed a book with a unit of time in the title for a monthly challenge. So to the pile of Harlequins my mother gave me I went.
It was decent. Not terrible. Not great. However, Spence was too much of an ass to be likable. Sadie was too much of a doormat for too long to be really likable.
It wasn't that I didn't like it. It was just that it was only OK. There's nobody I would recommend this to as 'you would really like this book'. But I wouldn't try to stop anyone either. Somewhere between two and three stars but gets rounded down for a lack of originality.
I really loved this kind of sweet loving story. More to it, they've known each other for years (more like best friends) and they're boss and assistant! Theme I kinda loved! So Saddie had been in love with Spence for years, but of course, Spence saw her as his best friend' sister, and his very loyal employee. Little did he realized that Saddie had played a very important role in his life. Of course at first he didn't realized it, and when he did, he denied it. Until Saddie decided to take the first step.
Wonderful wonderful book, well written and paced, emotionally engaging, unexpected, the only thing I would tweek is the pacing in the last fifty pages because it feels a little rushed but over all I would highly recommend it
