Return to Me

Rate this book
Paige Frey left her Montana homestead after graduation with the intention of never returning home; not for weekends, holidays, weddings...or funerals. When news of her mobster step-father’s death reaches all the way to the big apple, Paige's first reaction is a resounding good-riddance to both Giovanni Denmari and her sizable inheritance. Only the sage advice of her roommate Erik convinces her to return home to claim what's hers.
But if she thought returning to Montana would mean a simple weekend trip, she was dead wrong. Family dysfunction, ex-boyfriends, Erik's bizarre behavior and probate quickly turn her mountain retreat into a madhouse.

Hmm. I liked most of the book, interesting read. But the ending?? Could have that been wrapped up ANY faster? It felt like the author was on a verge of turning this book really good but opted instead for the easiest way out.

Sure, the ending was what was expected but I would have wanted it to be even a bit longer. I don't think anyone in same position would change their mind that fast!

The swimming pool scene was also interesting (though quite unrealistic; I don't know any mobsters, but are they really that stupid??) but it also should have been taken a bit further; why, who, where..

So a nice fast read, but with a bit of effort it could have been a lot better.

I thought the premise was cute, but it was a little to vague in like the first 40% of the book. It kind of seem to jump from thing to thing without a lot of information. For example one minute they are in town talking about running away together and the next page they are in Alaska, and have been for a while. Then she decides to go back, and then it's 4 years later. I was kind of wondering how did they get to Alaska, and what happened when she returned? I'm all for fast paced and not a ton of description, but I had to go back and re-read certain areas because I felt like I was missing something. For a freebie it was worth reading.

I thought this was pretty good-and the love scenes weren't super cheesy. I loved Erik, he was probably my favorite out of all.

“Okay, okay…it’s okay sweetie. Are you at home?”
“N-no.”
“Just tell me where you are.”
Or:

“Just for this year. We can get G.E.D’s and find jobs or live off the land, whatever. Just until we’re both eighteen. How about it?” (Live off the land or whatever? :) oh to be young again)
“But that’s crazy!”
“Please, I need you with me.”

And:

"Well we know he's not gay. You’re welcome, by the way." He added at her startled glance.

My only complaint was that the book was a little fast-and the shark scene creeped me out, logical or no-I HATE sharks.

3.5 stars.

I was a bit bored for the first 40 or so per-cent but then we forwarded 4 years and things got interesting. I don't want to give too much away but there's a twist near the end and I was surprised in a good way.

I'm still slightly confused about the shark though? Was it there for a reason or not?

I really liked this one, rating it 5 stars because of the second edition. Great love story, and really different-(sharks and mobsters and a gay leading man in a romance seems like an odd mix sure but like I said, I thought this was a great story about friendship and family and coming home).

I liked the story. I felt like it was too short but could go a long ways. I had suspected a few times. But i loved the ending.... but i wish it went on more...

3.5 - decent story but didn't get to detailed. Very vague in places.
