I'm such a fan of Maggie March's funny Lucy McGuffin, Psychic Amateur Detective series. So I was thrilled to read an advance copy of My Big Fat Cursed Wedding. There's a lot at stake this time for muffin maven Lucy, as she's getting married ... and will find out whether her psychic connection to her snarky ghost-whispering dog Paco will forever be sundered. It doesn't help that the man she loves is the prime suspect when a key figure in the nuptials meets a violent death. In spite of the stakes, this book is pure comedy as well as a mystery with lots of entertaining twists and turns. This is a wedding you'll definitely want to attend.
Hilarious. One week before Lucy and Trevor's wedding and her dress has been tampered with. Her mother hired a wedding planner, who turns out to be Trevor's ex and she has come to Whispering Cove to sabotage the wedding. But then Paco finds her dead. We know that Trevor isn't the murderer, but who is? So many suspects. Lucy and Paco have an assist with this one. It turns out that Lucy's cousin Anna has a "gift" of her own. Delightful read.
I read an ARC as part of the author's review team. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Another winner of a story in the life of Lucy McGuffin and her dog Paco. I have loved these books since the first one, but as they are all standalone stories, one can start anywhere. This story begins where the last book left off. Lucy is engaged to Travis, the police chief, and in this book, it is the week before the wedding. And you know someone will be killed. This time though Travis is accused of the murder when one of the wedding consultants is killed. Lucy really should have enough on her plate as her wedding dress doesn’t fit and her fiancé has been accused of murder. This was another fun mystery that Lucy and Paco get involved in. It is a fun easy read with enough mystery around it to be totally entertaining. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
MY BIG FAT CURSED WEDDING is the ninth book in the Lucy McGuffin, Psychic Amateur Detective series and it didn't disappoint. Meeting up with characters we've met before plus some new ones was nice since we could catch up on their lives. Of course, Lucy and her dog, Paco were front and center along with her fiancé, Travis. There are multiple stories being told and once again there's another dead body and this time the main suspect isn't who I expected. There are many suspects whom Lucy has to sift through in order to find out whodunnit and provide additional information to the police. All in an effort to clear the main suspect of the crime.
There are twists and turns to the story along with lots of clues and every detail was important. The wedding is only a week away but nothing seems to be going right for Lucy especially when it concerns her wedding dress and her newly hired wedding planner. There were a few laughable moments especially the conversations between Lucy and Paco. Her cousin, Anna was fun to get to know and has her own psychic abilities. There was closure with the solving of the crime and the wedding actually taking place. I liked that the author said the series would continue and that Anna would get her own spin-off. The book has a cute and colorful cover.
My Big Fat Cursed Wedding by Maggie March doesn’t have a cursed wedding as much as it seems to have a cursed wedding dress. What should have been a hectic week before Lucy’s and Travis’ wedding turn into a murder investigating of the death of the wedding planner. With her family and friends all around and Travis being the prime suspect, it seems Paco and Lucy are on the case.
This is a series that is so very fine with My Big Fat Cursed Wedding being the icing on the cake (pun intended). I started and did not stop until I knew not only the killer’s identity but if the “I dos” were said. Add Anna, Lucy’s older cousin helping Lucy, this is one excellent mystery/wedding/Paco, my man story.
It just might be able to be a stand-alone since anything needed to know from past books so that you can fully enjoy this story is given. With plenty of secrets, revelations, and mystery, My Big Fat Cursed Wedding is one enjoyable compelling read.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow, another hilarious, madcap murder mystery from Maggie March! This time, even our heroine and human lie-detector isn't spared a dead body in the middle of her wedding plans. I love that this series combines humor, snappy dialog, murder mysteries and special powers, such as a ghost whisperer dog (who steals the show), Lucy's lie detection and this time cousin Anna who sees dead people. What a hoot! As the clock ticks down on Lucy and Travis's wedding, can Lucy help to solve the murder and take suspicion off of Travis? You will have to read the book to find out, and laugh out loud in the process!
This book is my favorite of the Lucy and Paco series to date! We have been waiting for Lucy and Travis's wedding and now that there is a murder with Travis as the main suspect, will it be postponed? Will Lucy and Paco be able to solve it in time? And will Lucy find a dress in less than a week? This is a fun and easy read and love all of Maggie March's books! While it is part of a series it can be read as a stand alone....but I would encourage you to read the entire series to more fully enjoy each character!
The wedding of the century in Whispering Pines anyways. This was a great addition to this series. It was nice to learn more about Travis and his past. I was only half right on who was the killer, which was a nice surprise. This book is fun, funny, quick read. I was a little worried what would happen at the end of this book with Lucy and Paco but I am quite happy with the ending. I look forward to more books and also the spin-off with Anna. I am leaving this review voluntarily after being sent a free book.
Lucy and Travis are finally getting married, but the wedding planner isn't going to make it easy. It took a while for me to realize that the wedding planner was Travis' ex-girlfriend. After she was murdered, he was the main suspect. There were so many twists and turns in this story, but in the end, the wedding went perfectly. I love a happy ending. Oh, by the way, the real murderer was caught, and Travis, Lucy, Paco and Ellie went on the honeymoon, one happy family.
Lucy's latest mystery comes at a time when she is already stressed over her wedding so the adventure is definitely unwanted. When she finds out who the latest body really is, she is anything but happy, especially when Travis is the main suspect. In her usual inimitable way, with help from Paco, of course, Lucy figures it all out and saves the day. It was a fun story with lots of red herrings and suspects that kept me guessing. Another great story by Maggie March. Highly recommended.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, as it is the 9th in the series, and sometimes stories can become stale. I will say most of it was predictable, but it was still a fun, quick read with characters I have grown quite fond of. It was nice getting some information on Travis’ old life, and I really enjoyed how confident he and Lucy were in their relationship. I as happy with the end, and looking forward to the next book!
Did anyone think that Lucy getting married was going to be smooth sailing? With Mom getting intoxicated to the wedding planner being murdered, Lucy and Paco with the help of her cousin are on the job. She has a vested interest as Travis is the prime suspect. Lucy and Paco always get the murderer. Wedding goes on as planned and the honeymoon place is perfect!
Lucy is one week away from her wedding. What could go wrong? Well, her wedding planner ending up dead for one thing! Who would kill a wedding planner? Find out how Lucy, Paco, along with cousin Anna, get involved in solving the mystery. Great Book just like all of the Lucy and Paco stories! Highly recommend!
Travis past visits with a vengeance, when not one but two women seek revenge. He gets framed for the death of one by the other. Lots of hyjinks and misdirection. With the help of her cousin, who sees ghosts, a PI, and her trusty Paco, the right person is caught and the wedding is saved.
I loved this story. What could possibly go wrong withLucy’s wedding. Everything it seems. But as always murder, muffins, dogs and mayhem can’t keep Lucy and Paco from solving the crime especially with Travis being accused. I was gifted this book as an arc. This is my honest review.
Lucy and Travis big day is ahead. But something happens at the bridal shop that puts a crimp into the wedding festivities. The women that is there wedding planner isn’t really a wedding planner. She ends up being Travis ex-girlfriend. So much more to come. A must read.
This is the first book I’ve read in LUCY MCGUFFIN, PSYCHIC AMATEUR DETECTIVE Series. It was funny, surprising, and had me guessing through out the book who the murder person was! It was a great read ! I loved how Lucy and the dog Paco intertwined in the book! I will definitely be reading more of this series!!!
Not one but three no make that four wedding dresses in this story! The bride is a lie detector that talks to her dog, her cousin sees ghosts, the groom is accused of murder! What else can go on!
Thst was definitely not how I saw that boom going. Well, except the accomplice part, that I pegged early. Can’t wait to read the next one, and am also excited about the spin off!
First time reading from this series and author. I absolutely loved it. The setting, characters and murder mystery was perfect. Literally had no clue who the killer was even when getting close to the end of the mystery. Will definitely continue reading from this series starting with first book.
I'm excited about this book series! Each of the last eight books has kept me guessing, and I still can't predict how the story will conclude. The unpredictability makes reading these books a thrilling experience.
Lucy and Travis's wedding did not disappoint. Plenty of clues for Lucy to follow to clear her man. Plenty of twists and Paco is in the mix too. I loved it and highly recommend it
I really enjoyed this mystery. Lucy, Anna and Pack have quite a dilemma. They must clear Travis from murder charges. Great characters and storyline. I hated for it to end.
I WAS NOT disappointed by Lucy and Paco's latest escapade, nor the new, and ordinary cast of characters in town. Hearts for... Trucy? Luvis? Whatever: Hearts!
I do not know how this bride to be did not turn into a bridezilla! Her Mom was a little tense. And she had the wedding planner from hell. Plus wedding dress blues! Then add in a murder with your fiance a suspect. I would have just eloped. But it makes a very entertaining book.
