I'm often stoically silent or, if the topic interests me, a chronic rambler. In other words, I can discuss writing forever and ever. Fiction, in particular. The love story—while a huge draw and constantly present—is secondary for me, because there's so much more to writing romance fiction than just making two (or more) people fall in love and have hot sex. There's a world to build, characters to develop, interests to create, and a topic or two to research thoroughly. Every book is a challenge for me, an opportunity to learn something new, and a puzzle to piece together. I want my characters to come to life, and the only way I know to do that is to give them substance—passions, history, goals, quirks, and strong opinions—and to let them evolve. Additionally, I want my men and women to be relatable. That means allowing room for everyday problems and, for lack of a better word, flaws. My characters will never be perfect.
Wait…this was supposed to be about me, not my writing.
I'm a writey person who loves to write. Always wanderlusting, twitterpating, kinking, and geeking. There's time for hockey and cupcakes, too. But mostly, I just love to write.
Nicholas and Kayla are going to her family's house for Christmas. She is the black sheep and her cousin Amanda also happens to be Nicks ex. It was still filled with lots of "daddy dom" goodness so...yeah I was happy.
More Kayla and Nicholas. They are spending Christmas in Oregon with Kayla’s family and the dreaded Amanda is there! Ugh. I’m glad she was finally put in her place.
The return of Greg happens and it’s not good! Plus we get more on Cade and Dylan and I’m wondering if they are the same as the ones in the House McClean series. All of these characters are so interwoven. I love it!
This ends on a sexy note and I really love all the characters from this series. We get more backstory on Chelsea and Rio… Off to read the next book!
Continuation of Nicholas and Kayla's story. Getting inside of Kayla's head was almost like entering a pink room full of cute stuffed toys, frills and laces, candy bars, etc. She was adorably sweet, childish and fairly consistent of her role as her Daddy's Little Girl throughout the book. Although at one point I felt like the story was getting nowhere, it was just like an extension of their whirlwind relationship and nothing was happening much at all.
The scenes in this book were mostly centered on the happenings around them e.g. Christmas with Layla's abhorrent family, Nick and Layla's friends at the club, etc. I wanted to see them develop their DD/LG (Daddy Dom/Little Girl) relationship, and they really lacked chemistry here. The sex scenes fell flat for me, too. I liked this novella, but not as much as I enjoyed Look But Don't Touch. Nonetheless, it was still a cute, entertaining read.
I can't for the life of me remember when I read the first book but age play has always intrigued me, hence why I went for Cara Dee after my friends suggested her. The first book, while nicely written, was an okay read for me.
Nevertheless, I really liked this one! I loved Nicholas as a Daddy Dom. He's caring and protective -- he'll do anything for his little girl and I find that really sweet. Kayla while she has a childish side to her, is very mature and a lovable character. It's cute how she match-makes everyone!
In this book we get to see more of their relationship and everything's so nice and dandy. It's just so cute.
Kayla & Nicholas from Look But Don't Touch take a holiday, then go see her family, then talk about redesigning his clubs. Also they have some sex. I gained no insight into anything.
I can't say I loved anything, really. I liked seeing Mr Cooper with his 2 subbies, but they have their own books so, again - not a lot to be gained by reading this one.
I didn't dislike anything, but this is just such an unnecessary buy. I feel like Nicholas and Kayla hit their absolute peak in Look But Don't Touch (which, FYI, is my favourite erotic novella) and we don't need to know anything about them.
Also, there is more focus on Kayla here, and let's face facts - baby girl hasn't got a lot going on in her head. She's a bit of a rainbow-poop-for-brains.
4.5 Nicholas and Kayla filled stars! I WANT MORE! I hope I get to read more of these 2! I do need to warn my friends, this is a Daddy/little story and if you don't enjoy hearing the sub call her Dom, Daddy, then this story won't be for you! But, in saying that, I'm pleased with how the author handled Amanda in this. But I want more of these two!
Kayla Brandon is engaged to Nicholas Ford and extremely happy that she has found a partner in her life as well as her lifestyle. She is also extremely interested in being a matchmaker and helping Nicholas expand Switch.
But when Nicholas believes that it is time for Kayla to make amends with her family will she obey him or will she rebel?
This book is almost an update on Kayla and Nicholas and also a preview to the next couple of books.
It was fun to see the conversations between Kayla and her cousins Amanda and Amber with how much they don't like each other. I am definitely glad that Kayla got the guy!!
I also loved the competition between Cade and Dylan against Kayla and Nicholas - it was so funny!!
The ending with Greg Cooper was definitely interesting and we'll see where that one goes.
This was a sweet addition to the first story in this series, about Nicholas and Kayla. They’re engaged now and on their way to Kayla’s family. The family he knew very well already because of his ex-girlfriend. Sounds like fun times, right?!
I liked these two characters already from the first book and was so happy to read more about them. Nicholas’s dominating, caring and protective side as well as Kayla’s bratty, funny and sweet side made for interesting moments.
This book was not like the first one because although there were some sexy times it also showed their everyday life. And since Kayla played matchmaker with Nicholas friends, they were a part here as well though I couldn’t always keep up with all the names she was thinking of.
This one’s different to all the other books in this series so far because it felt more like the ‘romance’ kind, following the daily life of Nicholas and Kayla. It was a good read but since I didn’t connect with the characters on an emotional level due to the shortness of all the books, it wasn’t what I expected. It just felt a bit strange to read about their normal life, so I was a bit thrown until they were back at the club again. I guess after all the previous books where the story almost always centered on the club life, I needed to get used to the somewhat normal setting.
I loved Nicholas and Kayla. I enjoyed the first book so much that I willingly skipped the 2nd and 3rd books and just went straight to this.
I realized not too long after I started this that I should've read the previous books since there were details and characters that I didn't know because I didn't read them. Then I was like, to hell with it, and just continued reading.
Nicholas and Kayla's relationship was much more established. Their connection was just undeniable. I could read them again and again. I hope, just like the first one, that their book is longer. This was so short that it's illegal, to be honest.
We also get the introduction for the next book, which I think I won't be reading, but who knows, we can't be sure. I might be willing to read Mark's story; I was intrigued with his dynamic with his subs.
”You’ve turned my life upside down in the best ways.” And he has stabilized mine in the best ways.

While I enjoyed getting more insight into Kayla + Nicholas’ relationship — I still found myself struggling to connect with them while reading. I was more drawn to the side characters and their stories in this case — so I am excited to continue this series and see all of their stories play out! :)
When the story of Kayla and Nicholas started in book #1, I wanted more, because it was just so short. But this one I skimmed and skipped, just so I could read the parts of the other pairings. I almost don't want to go on with the series, so we'll see.
I do love Cara Dee though, and I think her newer writing (and story evolving espec.) is so much better/more up my alley.
