"You can't put off being young until you retire.
- Philip Larkin
"

DISCLAIMER: I have to confess that I read this book at the draconian age of 24. It didn't seem to have the urgency since this 21st birthday present didn't arrive until I was 22 and a half. I'm positively Precambrian!
For a book based on a World War II British slogan, most of the quotations inside were from American figures, which didn't really tie in with the theme. Also, most of the quotes were about being young in general, rather than referring to the second decade of life, or that specific birthday by name. But ... it was a gift, and I never get books from my mother. So I'm grateful.

"'For years I wanted to be older, and now I am.'
- Margaret Atwood"

I've included my favourite three here, all from British writers. Not that I'm biased.

"Birthdays are nature's way of telling you to eat more cake.
