Deep Cover, Shallow Graves describes an era in such depth that even those of us who lived through the Cold War era will learn much about what was deliberately hidden from us. The book is a balanced account that describes the big picture of events while drawing us in through the vividly described experiences of a relatable character, namely Mr. Plumlee. We learn as he learns. We experience as he experiences. Although I primarily read novels, this is one non-fiction book that I thoroughly enjoyed. In fact, reading this book was a thrilling experience.
