Accused of murder and of stealing a lethal government microchip, SSU agent Kai Paterson finally has a lead on the true location of the chip. If he finds it before the government and the criminal elements chasing him, he has a chance to clear his name. But the chip has been implanted in the body of an innocent woman.
Susana Dias is an internationally renowned archaeologist excavating the most significant dig of her career. When someone tries to kill her in order to get the microchip she’s unaware is inside her, Susana accepts Kai’s help in getting out of the jungle alive.
Kai knows he must retrieve the chip and get it into safe hands, but removing the chip could kill Susana. Now he’s forced to make a choice–protect the woman he loves or retrieve the chip.
Vanessa Kier spends way too much time thinking up ways she can torture her characters. A worst-case scenario thinker, she's been creating stories in her head since childhood. Now she’s found her niche in writing romantic thrillers that combine intense emotion with action-packed plots. The author of six books in The Surgical Strike Unit series about a privately run special operations group, she has set her new series WAR in West Africa, where she lived for a time.
When she’s not writing, listening to music, or playing puzzle games on her mobile device, Vanessa writes the occasional Tech Talk column for her local RWA chapter's newsletter and takes long hikes in the nearby hills.
Betrayal: The SSU Book 2 (The Surgical Strike Unit )
The love story of Kai and Susana. Kai is back with the SSU and he know where the missing chip is. Susana is an archeologist and the daughter of the doctor who crated the formula everyone is looking for. Who will get to the chip first? Ok story.
I wouldn't consider this book a romance at all. Sci-fi would definetly be a better description with all of the humans being turned into raging animals by the mad scientists. This was my first book by this author and it will also be my last. Since I didn't read the first book in the trilogy and the author didn't give a brief summary in this one Im still not sure what the SSU even is. The closest thing to romance in this book is the four pages of jungle sex.
this was another fast easy read but I didn't find the characters particularly engaging or interesting. I also found the many side stories a bit annoying to follow, could have done with a few less plots and more character relationship Dr employment beyond sexual attraction and being thrown together in a life threatening situation.
Really enjoyed the first book so thought I'd try this one. I was not disappointed and have already loaded the next in the series. A new writer for me but she definitely has me hooked! If you like military type romance then you will love this series!!
