I will check out anything that has author & cultural guru Michael Gonzales in it. Even though he no longer comes in my shop because I pinched some of his weed when he naively left his briefcase behind the counter.

Fun to have a collection of new (at least to me, except Michael) hardboiled writers to dip into. Like any collection, not every piece will hit you directly where you live, but these are all lively, pull you in and create a strong sense of place, particularly Gonzales’ “King of Broadway”, “Carousel Horses” by Mike McHone & “Comic Con” by Heidi Hunter.
A nicely designed book also, with good black and white photographs. Not something put into a word perfect blender and uploaded into a print app.
Makes me miss dear old journal Murdaland!

A solid issue with great stories by Mike McHone and Meagan Lucas. Excellent selection from beginning to end.
