Howard Stone has suffered from depression himself, and what makes this book unique is that it speaks to both the person experiencing depression and that person's network of family and friends. Each chapter includes sidebars that summarize key points of the chapter and call the reader and their friends and family to action with a list of specific, doable steps.
Howard W. Stone, Ph.D., is a psychologist, marriage and family therapist, a pastoral counselor, the author or editor of many books in the Fortress Press Creative Pastoral Care and Counseling series, and a professor emeritus at Texas Christian University.
This book had a lot of information on depression and tips and techniques to use when you are in a depression. It also had tips and ideas for family members of people who are going through depression. I think this is a good book to keep around to refer to.
