Kim Richardson is the award-winning author of the bestselling SOUL GUARDIANS series. She lives in the eastern part of Canada with her husband, two dogs and a very old cat. She is the author of the SOUL GUARDIANS series, the MYSTICS series, and the DIVIDED REALMS series. Kim's books are available in print editions, and translations are available in over 7 languages.
This book's plot is about murders that appear to frame Valen and Caitlyn. Also a collision with Clive of the Gray Council. So there's a major plot line, but also subplots that are incorporated along the way.
There's also a plot twist towards the end and once that twists appears I could easily figure out the rest of it. The issues I have with these books are Daddy has a lot of those villain cliches that we see in you know the movies TV and books. Heavy monologue while they're fighting and facing each other. Example of telling someone who is evil, you're evil. Duh. Or don't hurt my friends. It's just kind of silly things that is universally everywhere. The other problem I have with this and not only this book is the introduction of the 11 and a half year old sister. The problem with this character and with book that introduces a-teen or teenager is that they're just annoying, irritating characters. They're always contrary uncooperative and basically unhappy. And to keep these teens happy they have to be talked to and rationalized when they're just kids. They're self-centered, self-involved. So I feel like these characters are really spoiled and just annoying. It takes away from the whole story line when they're trying to pamper and placate these spoiled brats. Plus you already have two adult characters that are annoying and spoiled. So there's enough of these characters already in the plot. Also too much bedroom antics, too much horniness. Aren't there bodice ripper genres for that.
Leana is marmite, you either love her or you hate her, there's no in-between.
Pretty much a 50/50 split the trouble with this is that as a character, she's not entirely likeable. She has this role as a MERLIN, which doesn't seem to really mean very much. Despite having been described as being like a paranormal FBI agent, there doesn't appear to be any background organisation. All it seems to mean is that she has access to a database, no colleagues to bring into a case, no pay, no boss except the independent contract with the hotel. No cases are being handed out from the MERLIN office, just whatever she stumbles into, and that seems to be a lot of people who hate marmite. A lot of people who bizarrely can just carry on⁴ with their plans for global domination despite previous cases.
You'd think that first Adele's and then Darius's connections would have been removed from their positions, especially Clive, who falsely imprisoned Leana. It creates a plot full of tears and rips.
We're the constant references to penis size supposed to be funny? Is that what was supposed to make us "laugh out loud"?
This fourth instalment of ‘The Witches of New York’ takes us on another exciting adventure filled with terror, mystery, shock and awe.
Starlight witch Leana faces new challenges in this fascinating story. The situation between her, Valen and her sister Shay seems to be going smoothly, however their paranormal world is turned upside down when they discover some gruesome killings that have taken place on site and elsewhere. As a dedicated Merlin, Leana puts her heart and soul into solving these murders as best she can. Our lovely tenants on the 13th floor of the Twilight hotel join forces with her to get to the bottom of this mystery.
Congrats to the author for creating, yet again, an intriguing environment into which we can throw ourselves from the beginning to the end of this amazing book.
Bad luck seems to follow Leana. Just when you think things are settling down, a dead body is found in Valen’s restaurant. After more bodies surface, it appears that someone has it in for Valen. Not only does Leana have to clear Valen, she has to watch her back. It seems someone from the Gray Council is out to get Leana. There are situations coming from all directions.
Still love the interaction with Errol. I giggle every time I read one of those. And the gang stands beside Leana and Valen through thick and thin.
And we can’t forget about Shay. She too has a major roll, especially in the next book I think. I love the plot, the characters and the writing of this author. Can’t wait for book 5.
I am enjoying this series and all of its amazing characters. Leana kicks butt even when she’s down on her luck. But it looks like someone has it out for her and wants to take her down. Now she has to watch every move she makes and figure out whose after her.
Funny, lighthearted, action packed, suspenseful, intense, emotion – just to name of few of the elements packed into this story.
The Giant and the Witch is the fourth book in the Witches of New York serie by Kim Richardson.
Shay have move in with her sister and Valen. Clive once more have something againts Leana, but she won't let him get his ways. And she still have the treath againts her sister and she won't stop until this one is safe.
I really love this one and cannot wait to the next book in the serie. I have received an arc of this book from the author.
I like this book because it has a great plot. There are always some new characters that show up in each book. Kim’s attention to detail is impeccable. There is suspense, humor, adventure, and romance. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal adventures. There is quite a bit of murder and mayhem I do not usually care for. But the rest is so engrossing that I can handle the violent aspects.
i’m rly enjoying all the character growth and budding romances but i’m gonna lose my marbles if the author doesn’t tone it down w leana and valen always being horny no matter the situation and leana talking abt her “nether regions” and “lady bits” “throbbing and pulsing” every time she even thinks, breathes, or looks in the direction of valen😫😭👎
The story has just taken on a new level of intrigue. Where is the father of Shay and how does contact him? The Council clearly needs to have it’s proverbial house cleaned.
I love Leana and her friends. Taking Clive down a few notches was hysterical. But Leana still needs to stop the threat against her little sister and I can't wait to see what trouble the gang stirs up next while solving their next crime!
A really great read. Lots of adventure, some romance, some revenge, and of course a mystery, curses, old enemies, new enemies and the battle is on. I very much enjoyed reading this book. Had to pre-order the next one due out the end of June. Yea!
I did think who did it was clear but the starlight witch did not get there very fast. What are the jobs of her friends in the hotel? Must of been said in book one but I don't remember. This book she has three bad people after her.
The Starlight witch seems to get better and better, her new energies and powers pulled from her emotions have enhanced her. Young Shay & Valen coupled with all the other talented witches plus her enemies make a great read.
When it finally looks like things are calming, more drama and danger ensure. I love the family with Leana, Valen and Shay. They work as a unit. Her friends continue to be supportive and add warmth to the series.
The giant and the witch by Kim Richardson. This time, her boyfriend is being framed as killing some people. Now she is trying to prove him wrong. This one fell short compare to the first three but still just as good
really good series. leana is very resourceful with the help of her friends. how will she counter Shays curse. maybe dad can help. look forward to the next book
Fantastic read. Characters are evolving and now we can see how their magic and abilities differ. Once again a brilliant read and I am looking forward to the next book.
I give this book 4 1/2⭐️ this is book 4 and I just love the dynamic of the characters and how they work together and what not it has me laugh it’s just a good time read
