Earl of Halsburg

Rate this book
What happens when a twist of fate turns into an undeniable destiny?

A reluctant guardian…
When a tragic carriage accident claims his uncle, Alan Hardin finds himself the third Earl of Halsburg with the unexpected guardianship of two sisters, fulfilling a long-ago promise made by his uncle to a dear friend. The last thing Alan wants is to be a guardian, especially when the elder sister is beautiful, spirited, and of marriageable age.

An undaunted ward…
With the death of her beloved father, Elizabeth Rollins and her young sister find themselves at the mercy of a spiteful stepmother and isolated from friends and the life they had known until an unexpected guardian appointed by her late father arrives to literally save the day. Instead of a sweet, doting, elderly gentleman, Elizabeth is surprised to meet a young, handsome, and charming earl. But when Elizabeth’s stepmother contrives to move her previously banned son back home, Elizabeth must do everything she can to escape his greedy clutches. Will Elizabeth fall victim to her stepbrother’s marriage scheme or will Alan go from guardian to groom?

Dear Reader - Earl of Halsburg was originally part of the Wicked Earls Forever Anthology, published January 2023 and removed from sale in April 2023.

Who knew I’d become an author? Not me. But when the opportunity knocked, I answered the door and welcomed it in. I approach life with as much positivity as I can—celebrating the hits and laughing at the misses. Nothing worthwhile is easy, and that includes everything in my life. But I have much to smile about—my lovely mother, a beautiful daughter, two precious granddaughters, my adorable dogs, and my sweet husband of over thirty years. He has always supported me—including uprooting to move to the other side of Charlotte, N.C. for a life change, just when we thought we were settled.

If settled means not going after my dreams, then I never want to be settled. I give my all to things I enjoy—and that includes writing. In 2021, I hit the USA Today Bestselling Author list, and recently, two of my books were named RONE Finalists!

I love to express myself to the point that my daughter avoids going to the movies with me because I’m that woman in the row in front of you who gleefully munches her popcorn and laughs at every hilarious scene. Loudly. Besides my family, I love chocolate, popcorn, laughter, and animals. I love animals so much that I frequently sprinkle them in my stories as secondary characters. They usually steal the show! British and American history have always interested me, so writing historical romances set in the U.K. and the US is where my passion is.

When I was barely three years old, my parents divorced, and my mom moved my sister and me from New York to South Carolina to live near her parents. Juggling a full-time job and full-time school, my mother became my first genuine hero—she never waved the white flag when things were tough. And things quickly got tough. My grandmother, who helped care for my sister and me while my mother worked, became ill with cancer, and didn’t survive the surgery, dying before I was seven. Losing Grandma devastated me. She read to me and taught me to read before I started first grade. I credit her for inspiring my love of reading, and I credit my mother for encouraging me to turn my ideas into stories.

When I was ten, my neighbor gave me her book club copy of Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind and it remains one of my favorite books. But it was Kathleen Woodiwiss’ Shanna and Ashes in the Wind, that hooked me on historical romance and sparked my dream of becoming a published author.

While I primarily write Regency Romance, I enjoy almost any period in American and British history.

The Earl of Halsburg by Anna St. Claire
Make Mine an Earl Series
Alan Hardin, the third Earl of Halsburg, decides it’s time to check on his wards. After his uncle died in a carriage accident…he gained the earldom and the two young ladies as his wards. And now he’s receiving threatening notes.
Elizabeth Rollins misses her father. He had remarried in hopes of a mother to his daughters, but Delores wasn’t that, and now that their father is gone…their stepmother is even more challenging for Penny and Elizabeth to live with.
A shorter story but full of drama and romance. The evil stepmother and stepbrother for the reader to dislike, and other charming characters that grabbed this reader’s heart.

Final book in the bridesmaid mine an earl, but is almost part of wired early series too as meetings take place in that building.

Alan earl of Halsberg has inherited not only his uncles title but his two wards too.they still live with their stepmother, but it appears they're not only being looked after properly, but possibly in danger from their step bother too.
Alan is also receiving off messages to, which leave him worries, but he has to protect the two young ladies firat.

super quick read fun storyline

A known villain. Evil stepmother. A beautiful young woman and her teen age sister in a Cinderella type story with a kind charming protective guardian who is close in age to the heroine. There’s the Earls smart mother and helpful brother. These storylines are familiar and fun to read. Not too much anxiety.

A beautiful love story!!!

Great book. All the highlights were hit and it was fast paced enough to not get bored. And the ending for Chadwick was most fitting. Too bad she didn’t include him hugging. It’s makes you wonder did he kill his stepfather????

I enjoyed this novel overall but the writing expression lacked a bit in the last chapter and the epilogue.
I have read novels that enthralled me more but it served a purpose in that it was lighter than my usual reads and that suited me as I completed this series.

I am always intrigued by stories of guardians and wards. Moliere was fond of them. Evil stepmothers, too, and here we have the addition of an evil stepbrother.
