Arianna Isabella is an author of gothic and whimsical dark fiction whose work explores the tangled roots of betrayal, identity, and survival.
Known for plot-driven narratives wrapped in poetic prose, her stories linger at the edge of the forbidden, where relationships unravel, power is never clean, and desire rarely comes without consequence.
Writing through a Black, queer, polyamorous, and AuDHD lens, Arianna crafts emotionally rich fiction that resonates with readers who crave depth, danger, and beautifully complicated characters. Inspired by her love of reading of visionaries of fiction, who shaped her belief that fantasy is political power, and that power must be personal
Her body of work includes the Cyndicate series, a cinematic dark academia thriller exploring institutional power and interpersonal fracture, and Neverwraith, a haunting fantasy reimaging that casts lost boyhood in shadow.
In addition to her work as a writer, Arianna is a junior lecturer and the force behind Ink & Rebellion, a dark fiction brand built on intellect and defiance. She lives in the UK, building worlds where the fantasy is lush, the danger is real, and the politics are never background noise.
3.5⭐️ round to 4⭐️ where needed. Arkyn Reborn: The Thief’s Flame is a high fantasy dark romance by Arianna Isabella. See above for book blurb. This is about Izara Nadir, an ER nurse who is troubled by constant nightmares, seemingly torn between two identities and two worlds. While she is getting more and more caught up in these dreams, there is a struggle for power and dominance among gods. This is a story which uses a lot of flashbacks from another world while Izara lived on modern Earth. I did ultimately enjoy this book, but I had a difficult time getting into the story in the beginning. It required a lot of concentration and rereads of numerous passages, especially those describing Izara’s dream world. I was confused, feeling like I had missed a prequel. There were gaps in information that I felt like I needed to know to connect with the story. As the story began happening more in real time and less in Izara’s head, it became easier to follow. I quite enjoyed the last part of the book. The novel would benefit from a bit more world building or more of Gideon and Fenris in the first half as they tied more of the story together, and less writing about Izara’s friends and Fallon’s sex life. The spice level in the book is high, which is fine, but I would rather understand the story more. I rated the book at 3.5⭐️ because the parts I liked were a solid 4, but I couldn’t overlook how long it took for me to follow the plot. I think this has potential as a series. I liked the last part of the book enough to want to know what happens next. However, some more thought should probably be given to how to introduce the complexities of this world. There is a definite why choose theme for this story and LGBTQIA+ representation in the supporting characters. I do not want to discourage interested readers. It could be that this difficulty connecting with this story is mine. I found it to be a challenging read that I was happy that I stuck with by the end.
This is a 4.25 for me. I will admit I had a hard time first connecting with the story and I have read almost all of Arianna's writings and have enjoyed them all. But for me I had trouble understanding the world she was describing with this book. Now this book is an offshoot of another of her series the Eden Series which explains how Arkyn came into existence (centuries separate the two series so the storylines are not connected), the author has also added a codex to the final version of the book. I think the codex was such an amazing addition that it will really help people to understand Arkyn. I would still the reading of the Eden series because while not completely necessary I think they were really great stories to better understand Arkyn.
Now, I have reread the most updated version of this book after having read the Eden series and the addition of the Codex and it was much easier to understand the book and enjoy it. But there were parts I was left wanting a little bit more information like the genetic lines of some of the characters are they would make reference to their lineage being so powerful they should be the ones in power or just understanding how another character might be relevant to the story based on who their parentage was. I think also an explanation how this one goddess dies but ends up on earth would have also benefited the story. Just a few moments like this just left me sometimes wanting more.
But the overall story was really enjoyable especially the ending when the goddess awakens (she was really kicking butt at the end), and all the action moments happen made it really hard to put down.
Now I will admit I really enjoy Ari's writing which is beautifully descriptive and flowery, and it creates amazing imagery. But I can completely understand that along with the world building, lots of characters being introduced and having different parts in the story, shifting from past to present storylines as well shifting focus between really three different groups in the book that it can feel overwhelming. I felt it at times. But if you can sit back and enjoy it then you will not be disappointed by the end of the book because the ending really has you on the edge of your seat. It does leave on a cliff hanger as it is the start to a series, but I am really interested in what comes next.
This book is about a realm called Arkyn where powerful Gods rule the realm. On the night of her accession Elaxi is unfortunately murdered by someone close to her for many reasons but one of which is to take power for herself. However, this just starts off a chain of events where Elaxi is just reincarnated on earth as Izara. Unaware of her past as a goddess she is unprepared for when evil comes knocking on her door. Because in the centuries that have passed her murderer has been able to amass great power so much that realms have fallen in her wake. With few standing in her path it is time for the goddess within Izara to awaken so that she may fight against this great evil with new and old friends and loves by her side. But will it be enough for a newly awaken goddess to fight and beat back this great evil who has armies at her side to help destroy Izara and take control of all realms.
I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
"Arkyn Reborn" by Arianna Isabella is an enthralling epic that masterfully intertwines magic, mystery, and the timeless struggle for power. From the first page, Isabella's rich and immersive world-building transports readers to the hauntingly beautiful realm of Arkyn, where ancient prophecies and forgotten gods set the stage for a gripping narrative.
The protagonist, Izara Nadir, is a relatable and compelling heroine whose journey from a seemingly ordinary existence to a destiny entwined with the fate of her world is both captivating and deeply emotional. Izara's character development is one of the highlights of the novel, as she evolves from a figure of humble beginnings to a beacon of hope amidst the chaos threatening to engulf Arkyn. Her struggles, triumphs, and the moral complexities she faces make her a truly unforgettable character.
Fallon, the rogue deity armed with the enigmatic Dagger of the Lost, adds layers of intrigue and unpredictability to the story. Her actions, driven by an agenda shrouded in mystery, disrupt the delicate balance of power and propel the narrative into unexpected and thrilling directions. Isabella expertly crafts a world where the lines between ally and adversary are blurred, keeping readers guessing until the very end.
The political intrigue and ancient prophecies woven throughout the plot add depth and complexity to the story, making "Arkyn Reborn" a multifaceted tale that is as intellectually stimulating as it is entertaining. The celestial bodies aligning to herald a new era creates a sense of urgency and grandeur, heightening the stakes and propelling the story forward with a relentless pace.
Isabella's prose is elegant and evocative, painting vivid pictures of the once majestic realm of Arkyn and the shadowy remnants of its past grandeur. Her attention to detail and ability to craft atmospheric settings enhance the reader's immersion in this fantastical world. The interplay between past and present, and the way the history of Arkyn influences current events, is seamlessly executed, adding layers of richness to the narrative.
"Arkyn Reborn" is not just a tale of survival; it is a profound exploration of destiny, identity, and the eternal battle between light and darkness. Isabella's storytelling prowess shines through every page, making this first book of the saga a must-read for fans of epic fantasy. The intricate plot, well-developed characters, and the seamless blend of magic and political intrigue ensure that "Arkyn Reborn" will resonate long after the final page is turned.
In conclusion, "Arkyn Reborn" by Arianna Isabella is a five-star triumph that sets a high bar for epic fantasy. It's a journey through a world where the echoes of lost grandeur and the machinations of gods shape the destinies of men and women. This book promises a thrilling saga that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the next installment.
I enjoyed the premise of this book and I thought the storyline was engaging as well as entertaining. There was plenty of epic action potential and there was great mythological lore representation. Overall, the main reason I struggled was just my personal preference for writing style.
The author is incredibly descriptive, unfortunately just a bit too much for me. You definitely had an understand of what each character was thinking and feeling in each specific moment. The story was written in omniscient third person narrative and that, in general, doesn't hit well with me particularly. This was specifically challenging when the story flipped from one timeframe/memory to another without much acknowledgement. It took me a minute to figure out where we were again.
I loved the world but I would have preferred a better understanding of the magic system early on. I was still struggling to understand the various plains, etc at the end of the book. I imagine the future installments will go into this more in-depth but as a reader for this specific book, I would have preferred more awareness. That being said, the climax/ending did not give me a good sense of completion.
While I believe the author did a great job of trying to show the reader insight into each character, I really didn't connect well with any of them. I am not sure if this was because of the narrative style or simply because there were so many characters.
I do think this book would be wonderful for readers who like mythological themes (which I do!) but also appreciate a very flowery writing style and third person narrative.
“Herbs? You want me to stop the impending doom of my entire world and heal yours, and the only direction you can point me in is…herbs.”

Arianna does it again with another absolutely amazing read. Arkyn Reborn is the first book in her new dark fantasy series.
Arianna's world-building is always one of my favourite parts of her books. Her prose lends so well to the beautiful world she creates; rich, immersive and so easy to lose yourself in.
I loved the journey Izara is on in this book and the complexity of her character. She is dealing with personal struggles and is haunted by memories of a past life she can't remember. All the while, she has to deal with new dangers and politics of a world she never knew existed.
Fenris is easily my favourite character in this series. I adored his hilarious banter with Gideon, the love he has for Izara, and all his swoony-worthy words.
I really enjoyed the villain of the story. I loved her back story and piecing together her descent into the person she is now. Don't get me wrong, she is still horribly ruthless, but still a very intriguing and complex character that I can't wait to see more of.
This story, filled with, beautiful prose, lovable characters, high-stakes adventure, and a bit of ritual magic, this the perfect book for your fall TBR.

Read If You Enjoy ✨ Mythology Inspired Read ✨ Dark & Spicy Fantasy ✨ Chosen One
Arkyn Reborn takes you on an entrancing journey between realms as our characters fight against higher powers for the freedom to live in their truth. The intense battle, some would say is between good and evil, but this book questions good and evil. Who are the players in this fight? Who do you expect to fight on each side? In the Eden series, also written by Arianna Isabella, the seed of Arkyn is planted. However, in Arkyn Reborn, we see its growth thru eons. By page one I was hooked into the story. I had the advantage of reading the first two books of the Eden series to appreciate Easter eggs, but Arkyn stands alone and holds its own. Spoiler-free: One of the antagonists in this story is one that is so horrible and so ruthless, but Arianna Isabella has written them in a what that is incredibly intriguing. You can’t help but be enticed by the character much like their followers within the book. The world building is incredible and while this book has many characters, you are never lost and never forget each one. Each individual character holds their own space whether it is just a page or chapters long. Arkyn Reborn is definitely a five-star read.
I'm Bias when it comes to this author because I really enjoy the world building and character development in all of her books. I just wanted to state that from the beginning. But this... this might be one of my favorites. I was extremely enthralled with this story from the very beginning. It starts very fast paced with a few scenes that are both action packed and suspenseful. We get to meet our main characters and follow her as she starts on her journey to remember that in her past lives she's one of the most powerful goddess ever to live and now she needs to awaken as that goddess again. We meet a plethora of old gods and get to see a world so much different than ours. I immediately fell in loce with one of the main male characters, Gideon as he tries to make sure the goddess can meet her ascension on the other side of the playing field. From the world building, learning a out descendants of the old gods and how they work together to stop another goddess from complete take over. There's a sprinkle of spice and be sure to read the trigger warnings! Definitely one of my favorite reads so far od the year and I can't wait to continue the journey into Arkyn.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
So in the beginning of the book, I got lost. Like to the point I didn't know what was going on. After awhile I was able to see and understand but still. I felt like there should of been more of a backstory or something to make you understand what is going on.
This book is multiple POV, so it was nice to see everyone POV. And then there's also a lot of action. So most of the chapters are from like past tense from like what happened before to what's happening now. And a lot of it is a lot of action and different types of things. I honestly did like the book but I felt like a lot of times it was hard to keep my attention span. I think it's just because I'm a mood reader so some parts of the book weren't catching my attention. Does this mean this book is bad? No this book isn't bad at all, and I would like to know what happens next because of the way that ending is. But it's still a good book. And the way that the author does the different gods and goddesses actually is very interesting.
In an ancient battle of good vs evil.. Fallon seeks ultimate power.. while Izara is all that is good with work in a hospital ER.. unaware of her ancient identity as Elaxi. Gideon who tried to protect innocent human lives comes to the ER in critical condition after Fallon causes a bridge collapse that results in mass casualties. Izara gets flashes of Gideons identity and hers while trying to save his life. Along with Bahram, Gideon and Fenris are tasked with protecting her. They were companions and protectors of Elaxi.. they are trying to keep Izara alive in the face of Fallon’s wish for her to be dead. Arkyn Reborn: book one : The Thief's Flame by Arianna Isabella
In a world ruled by gods there is no escaping fate as Izara Nadir discovers. She struggles to come to terms with her past, while learning that some ancient legacies are so deeply ingrained in one's blood that they cannot be escaped. In Arkyn, death is not an escape, but merely a beginning."
"Death will not save you from your fate."
With her beloved protectors at her side Fenris, Gideon, Bahram and Luca, Izara will fight against the rouge God Fallon.
This book is amazing, filled with love, hate, and vengeance. Political intrigue, and good vs evil/light vs. Dark. This book was amazing and I can't wait for the rest, so Glad I got to read it.
4 hours…that’s all it took, this book had me enchanted and captivated from page 1. The fact the author put such thought into the characters and the plot with the world building that’s 200% chefs kiss and an instant 5 stars, “beg me Red” I instantly fell in love like holy swoon check please! I love this book so much thank you for letting me be on this journey with you!
Arianna is so good at weaving a story and highlighting each character throughout and painting an amazing picture of the scenery landscape and location of each part of the story. This book has spice, danger, magical elements, and mythical creatures. What else could you want! I can’t wait for book 2!!!!!
Arkyn Reborn is a high fantasy by Arianna Isabella. It ties into her Eden series so don’t skip on that! I love and appreciate the diversity and representation of the different characters you meet throughout the story and I always find myself immersed in Arianna’s world building. In this story you jump through different realms and different memories of the main character Izara as she encounters and fights against a relentless evil that seems to plague her no matter where she goes. Currently residing on Earth, Izara’s love(s) travel through realms/time to get to her as she finally awakens into her true power. For me, I loved the different realms and learning about Izara and her previous life she lived and I can honestly say that this is one book where I found myself wanting to learn more about ALL the backgrounds of the characters good or bad. Most especially after seeing the amazing character art the author made available to view for her release online! The best part about this book for me was that I wasn’t able to guess the plot twists or how this book was going to end. Overall, for me Arkyn Reborn was 5 stars and I am definitely looking forward to seeing how things play out in the next book!
I loved the concept of this book when I heard about it and had to check it out! I thought the storyline was intriguing and it kept me entertained the entire way through. I was hooked from page one of this book and could not put it down!! I enjoyed getting to read the world building and very well written. I love the spice , and magical elements , the mythical creatures in this story. I am excited for book 2 !
This book follows Izara, the FMC, who is a nurse and struggles with very vivid nightmares. There are multiple POVs in this book, and it took me a bit to get into it since it was somewhat confusing to me at first. Once my brain finally caught up to what was going on though, it was difficult to put down. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next one!
I am a fan of Ariannas books. Her style is unique to her books and once you open the book, beware because you are caught in a web and cannot put this masterpiece down.
