Kids may know the biblical account of the Tower of Babel, but there is more to this important event than just the confusion of languages. And they may have heard of the Ice Age, but it seems confusing. Now discover:
* How big was the Tower of Babel? * In what time period was the Tower of Babel built? * What is the Ice Age? * How does an Ice Age happen?
Dr. Ken Ham is the president of Answers in Genesis USA and is a well-known speaker and author on the subject of Young-Earth Creationism. He received a bachelor degree in applied science (emphasis on environmental biology) from the Queensland Institute of Technology, and a Diploma of Education from the University of Queensland. He has also received two honorary doctorates: a Doctor of Divinity from Temple Baptist College, and a Doctor of Literature from Baptist Liberty University.
He was a director of Creation Science Foundation (CSF) in Australia, an organization which he jointly founded with John Mackay. In 1987 he moved to the United States, still maintaining his links with CSF.
From 1987 to 1993, Ham worked for the Institute for Creation Research, and in 1994 set up what in 1995 became Answers in Genesis (AiG), a creation ministry dedicated to "upholding the authority of the Bible from the very first verse."
In 2008 Ham was described by well known atheist and evolutionary biologist PZ Myers as a "Wackaloon" for carrying out a prayer session with members of the Pentagon. Ham responded regarding the validity of that prayer breakfastand that PZ Myers and other critics were intolerant of his position.
Parents, does your kids have questions about the Tower of Babel and also the Ice Age? Are you looking for a biblical and informed response to frequent and common questions about the Ice Age and Babylon? If so this book would be worth having for you and your family! Christian apologist Ken Ham wrote this book as part of the Answers Book for Kids series published by Master Books. There are twenty two questions in the book and the question and answer format definitely helped engaged my kids. I love how one page has the questions and the next page has the answer and each answer begins first with a quote from the Bible. Questions in this particular work include “Where was the Tower of Babel built?” and “What is the Ice Age?” I did think though that compared to the other previous volumes in this series this particular book has some questions that felt more like fillers in order to fulfill the need to have twenty two questions that was similarly found in the other volumes in this series. For instance one of the question was “Where do the English people come from?” and “Was there anything inside the Tower of Babel?” Having said that the question about the origin of Chinese and Japanese people was interesting because these two questions does interact with the genealogies in the Old Testament and what lineage were these respective people from or likely from. I found it very fascinating! The graphics were simple and delightful although at times it wasn’t necessarily related to the question (also the pictures of kids doesn’t correspond to the names of the kids asking specific questions).
Never short of questions, let these titles bring answers to children who may just want to know, or who may be struggling in their walk with Christ. Parents and teachers need not be afraid of the tough questions with these solid apologetics titles in The Answers Book for Kids series.

My Review:
These books and the rest in the series are the best books for children because they answer alot of the questions that children generally ask. The best part about the answers given to any one question is that they are Bible based and I will tell you that, that alone makes my heart glad. We use these books to reinforce our knowledge of the Bible and they are really easy for our children to understand. There is also a small glossary placed in the back of the book to help with definitions.
The Answers Book for Kids Volume 5 consists of 20 Questions from kids on Space and Astronomy including:
What day were planets created? Is it possible that there are living things in space? What about the big bang?
The Answers Book for Kids Volume 6 consists of 22 questions from kids on Babel and the Ice Age including:
Where was the Tower of Babel built? How many languages came from Babel? Have you ever found a frozen person from the Ice Age?
So as you can see these small books lead to an even bigger testimony that only God can fulfill and they will expand on the Bible teachings you have already instilled in your children or they could be used when there isn't much Bible teaching presented to them. They are geared for ages 5-11. These books and all the rest in the series are available at this link. New Leaf Publishing Group is the publisher of all the books. The books are very affordable at $5.99 each. If you would like to read more reviews on these books, you can do so at this link. **Disclosure** These books were sent to me free of charge for my honest review by the Moms of Master Books Team and the New Leaf Publishing Group.
As a father of eight kids, I’m always on the lookout for new devotional and questions and answer books to share with my children at mealtime and bedtime. One particular favorite of my four and six-year-old has been The Answers Book For Kids series published by Master Books. We’ve nearly worn out the earlier books in the series, so I was quite delighted when volumes 5 and 6 showed up at the Bible Geek Gone Wild headquarters last month.
Each reading is two pages long and can be completed in around two minutes or less. On the left-hand page, you’ll see the question that is being considered and the name and age of the child who asked the question. Now, if there was only text on that page, I don’t think my children would be quite as engaged with this series, however they always want to know the name and age of the child asking the question and look at the picture. These extra elements do a great job of drawing the children in and really makes this series stand out in comparison to other question and answer books that tend to be less visually engaging. On the right-hand page, you’ll find the answer to the question at hand, including related Bible verses and a few paragraphs of further commentary. Finally at the bottom of the right-hand page, you’ll see some additional Bible verses to read as well.
The Answers Book for Kids, Volume 6 considers twenty two questions related to the tower of Babel and the ice age. Here are a few examples of the questions considered:
*How big was the tower of Babel? (p. 6-7) *What time period was the Tower of Babel Built in? (p. 12-13) *How does an Ice Age happen? (p. 38-39)
My family has found The Answers Book for Kids series to be particularly well suited for reading at either mealtime or bedtime. And although each reading can be completed in under two minutes, we often have five plus minutes of follow up discussion, especially when all of us are together at the dinner table. Our kids ranging from four to fourteen have greatly enjoyed these books, so I feel the recommended age range of six to twelve is right on.
Parents desiring to introduce their children to age appropriate apologetics resources with a high view of the authority of Scripture will find The Answers Book for Kids series a welcome addition to their family library.
My overall rating for The Answers Book for Kids, Volumes 6 is five out of five stars. Highly recommended!

Book 6 is another solid contribution to the discussion of creation science. While I found books 3 and 4 centered on information present in many places and, therefore, somewhat boring, the questions of these later volumes (5 & 6 were released simultaneously) are back to the caliber of the early editions (1 & 2) and indicate an expansion of both depth and breadth of creation science knowledge by the inquirers.
Overall, I love this installment. The questions selected and answers given are excellent. I like to read it myself! In fact, everyone in our family enjoys it - even grandparents find it fascinating. Some of the information presented was new to me, particularly as it relates to discoveries/ examples. I also appreciate that it includes some questions that cannot be answered. After alluding to what we do know and how it might impact the answer, I think it is important for kids to understand that the quest for knowledge is full of mysterious corners, some of which we may understand better in the future, and some of which we may never precisely figure out.
I did notice a niggling difference in the sections on the Tower of Babel and the Ice Age. I thought generally, the Babel section was a bit stronger and seemed to have more questions. Unlike the Tower of Babel, the Ice Age is not referenced in Scripture. We know it happened because of the impact upon the earth left behind - and everyone agrees that an Ice Age (or perhaps more than one) happened. But, I personally would want a little more distinction between what is taught in Scripture and what is deduced based on that information. While it is REASONABLE to think that the conditions of the flood caused a single Ice Age, theories about what happened in the past are subject to change, even theories based in a creation worldview! I wouldn't want the UNCHANGEABLE account of the Bible to be disparaged because we got overconfident in our interpretations. In case you aren't aware, that has happened before.
Nonetheless, this is a great resource for both instruction and discussion with your children about what God's word has to say about our world.
