➳Eghhh... Did not see this one coming...
➳I'm going to keep this short and sweet, and also straight to the point. To me, I found the synopsis of this story appealing in a way that made me interested in what the story has to offer. Now, I am not a big fan of stories that are deceived by the synopsis. Meaning, that once you read the blurb and you get attached to it and you cannot wait to start the story, you get tricked by the story and the lack of spirit there is throughout the story.
➳I gave it a try, don't get me wrong. Being a big fan of single father romances, hot football players, and nanny's to the rescue to save the day, I gave this puppy a try for sure. Putting that aside, I truly did enjoy the story and what it had to offer. The fact that both mains are in situation that cannot be remedied is one that brings an interest as to where the story will lead towards to. With this story though, there was a lot "instant" actions. Meaning that even though "insta" love is something that I adore to read, this one felt a bit forced by both characters. I don't want to say too many negative things about it because to balance that off there are positives to the story.
➳I am glad there is not too much drama, and there is a lack of conflict in regards to their everyday lives. The balance they keep both personally, and professionally is one I liked to read for sure. It wasn't like they were pawing at each other or something... [internally they were]
➳Overall, the fact that this story is written in a third perspective is also another triggering point that made me dislike it a little. Like I said, I gave the story a try and maybe this story is an ideal romance for some. However for me, it was a no indeed. Thank you to the publisher for giving me a chance at reading an advance copy of puppy, but I don't know if I'll be looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

The more I sat on my review of On the Line the less I liked the story, though those abs on the cover model could do crazy things to a girl's mind...
There was just something slightly off about the whole story, and it was hard to put my finger on exactly why I didn't really like it. The chemistry felt forced, and the tension was non-existent so there wasn't that fluttery feeling in my gut while I was reading. The storyline was... fine, but it never excited me and I had a hard time maintaining my interest. And while I love a single dad story, I hate a bratty daughter trope, and I had a hard time with the tween angst here.
There were a few plot elements which were introduced and then dropped off (the brother-friend angle, the unsatisfied in the career story), and things just never quite fit together like I had hoped.
While the story wasn't a bad one and I'm sure many fans of contemporary romance will like it, when you've read thousands of romance books, only the special ones make their mark and this one, unfortunately, wasn't it.

The story is well balanced between the character development, a luscious relationship evolving from sexy lust to something deeper along with the challenges the main characters face given the circumstances they’re in, all within a very well informed and entertaining football backdrop.
By themselves, Seth and Carrie where great characters, I was a sucker for Seth’s swoon worthy mindset about fatherhood even though he was struggling on how to deal with his pre-teen daughter and as a teacher myself I could help but admire Carrie’s constructive way of looking at education. I also loved everything about Carrie and Seth from their meet cute, their clever dialog and sexy texts, to the mature attitude towards their relationship, and of course the super sweet and sexy grand gesture at the end. I can’t wait to read more about this series.

I am an absolute sucker for an athletic themed story, it seems I will read about almost any sport, they almost always grab my attention.
Here we had a single dad, who was a star defensive play for an NFL expansion team, who is in dire need of help for his pre-teen daughter in the new town he was playing.
I loved their first chance meeting in the grocery store, where the clueless single dad is buying super plus tampons for his 12 year old daughter's first period, ouch!
The flirting and texts were fun, but finding out the beautiful woman he couldn't get off his mind was in fact his friends sister, who he was counting on to hiring to stay with his daughter, it was a great set up for an interesting story.
While I was never bored, and I loved the start of the book, the middle dragged and was a bit repetitive, and the ending felt rushed. I really wanted an epilogue.

I'm not going to lie, I'm happy anytime a midwest setting occurs-doubly so if it's not ya know, Chicago. (I love Chicago, no shade, but there are other cities-like...Milwaukee.)
Anyway a single dad & a nanny, and it usually doesn't work but it's ok here. The book is mostly cheesy (I see you Wisco-) sweet, and the characters could've used a little more to make them stand out. As diversions go, it was enough. I didn't mind this first book I've read by Liz Lincoln, it was enough to make me try again, but not enough to go out and tell you I recommend it. 2.6.

On the Line by Liz Lincoln is the first story in her new football romance series and is a fun and sexy ‘single parent falls for the nanny’ tale.
Carrie Herron has her hopes up on finally getting into the dating game again when she meets a man at the grocery store and they exchange numbers, and some sexy texts. But when it turns out he’s the guy her brother has set her up with for a nanny job, her heart sinks. Getting involved with her new boss, no matter how sexy and handsome he is, is a recipe for disaster.
Seth Chamberlain is doing his best to settle in to his new town, his new team, and with his tween going on twenty daughter who is not enthused with their move. And when his best prospect for a date shows up on his doorstep ready to move in and help with his daughter, he’s bummed too. Carrie had already shown herself to be caring and generous even before she started taking care of his daughter, and as a live-in nanny she’s got his household running smoothly. And he just can’t put that attraction away as much as he’d want to. It’s mutual, and some solo sexy times on each of their parts soon isn’t enough. A secret affair is one thing, but when his daughter, and Carrie’s brother find out, will it be over before it’s barely begun?
I really enjoyed this story! The meet-cute is fun, and the trope plot is predictable but with unique characters to pull it off well. Carrie is into comics and cosplay, which makes her a hit with Seth’s daughter Maddie and helps to ease the transition into her living with them full time. Carrie loves to dress up in character as Poison Ivy and she gets to do that for a con, though she hadn’t anticipated having Seth and Maddie there with her. Her sexy costume is too enticing for Seth to ignore and their hotel room heats up in a sexy scene that gets repeated a few more times as they start to develop real feelings for each other.
As a football romance, there are some good scenes on the field and in the locker room, complete with the usual bromance between teammates. There comes a point where Seth and Carrie can’t keep the secret anymore and the impact that has on their situation results in some soul searching before the well deserved happy ending. It’s an entertaining romance and I’m looking forward to reading more of the series!

Everything about this was uncomfortable, weird, and awkward. The bones of a good romance story were all there: athlete, single dad, brother's BFF. But every conversation and interaction between Carrie and Seth just had me scrunching my nose and asking why. I didn't feel tension; I didn't get chemistry. I got awkward texts that were (supposedly) sexy. I got brother's BFF trope where she had never even met the guy before they began a "relationship" and the brother was absent most of the story.
I enjoyed Maddie (the daughter), but again, everything felt so off. Like the fact that Carrie and her basically have everything in common. Diet Dr. Pepper! Comics! Cosplay! And that was all just talk. We rarely get to see them interact together as pre-teen and nanny so I didn't feel like they were that close or Maddie should be that distraught over learning about Carrie and Seth.
Sadly, this was a huge miss in my book.

What do you get when you cross a single dad pro football player and a nerdy cosplay, science loving woman? Well, you get a cheeky romance called On The Line by Liz Lincoln. There was so much about this book I loved including their chance meeting, the texting flirtation, the surprise job interview, and the way no matter how hard they tried they couldn’t keep their hands off one another. I loved this light, fun, and sexy story!
Unable to find a job as a science teacher after being let go from her position due to budget cuts Carrie Heron is desperate when she agrees to help out her brother’s college roommate by being his child’s nanny. What Carrie doesn’t know is that the man in question is one she met on accident and has been carrying on a sexy text relationship with for a couple of weeks. Seth Chamberlain can’t believe his luck in meeting a woman who interests him like no other until she appears on his doorstep, his friend’s sister and the woman he needs to hire to watch his 12 year old daughter when he is on the road. Can life be any more complicated?
There was so much I loved about this book first and foremost the fact that Seth was a great dad. Sure he was struggling a bit with a hormonal pre-teen who is not happy with a move across country, but he was trying his best. For the most part Maddie was a sweet girl and her actions were spot on for her age; self centered, overly dramatic, and a bit disrespectful, but you could see the love and admiration between father and daughter. I appreciated that while Seth didn’t really understand his daughter’s fascination with video games and comics, he knew they were important to her and he indulged her even when he sometimes felt like he was buying her affection. I kind of felt sorry for Seth because he was wading into unchartered territory and trying to figure out a girl’s mind and struggling.
I really liked Carrie despite her struggle to find a teaching job, she was pretty upbeat and willing to do what she had to do to make ends meet. I loved that she was thinking outside the box in regards to teaching methods and helping find a way to reach kids who struggled to be engaged. The fact that she was into cosplay, loved comics, and could understand Maggie’s obsession made it easy for her to slip in at her caregiver despite the fact that she and Seth wanted to be more. I admired that they tried very hard to put what they were feeling towards each other on the back burner and be there for Maggie, but it was also no surprise that it got to the point where they could no longer deny what they were feeling.
Whimsical but with plenty of emotion and some hot, sexy times I loved On The Line!

A new to me author but soooo happy that she is right in my backyard. Lots of familiarity with the setting and the weather. Love a good sports romance! Throw in a single dad and a slow burn with some serious sexual tension. Hooked me in!
Loved the nerd, geek girl with the hots for an athlete trope. The book just clicked off so many boxes for me. Looking forward to meeting more of the Dragons team. I am not sure why on earth the author would plunk another NFL team into WI---but she's forgiven since she is a Packer's fan. We'll go with the flow on this one!

If you think I picked this book up because of that abs-alicious cover - well, okay yeah. You're right. But also: football. Also, also: Single dad + nanny. This set-up had a lot of things going for it. Basically, all of my favorite things wrapped up in a (hot damn) pretty package.
For me? There was no false advertising here. Liz Lincoln is a new to me author, so I didn't really know what I was going to get beyond what the cover and blurb promised, and I was so pleasantly surprised by how easily I was sucked into this story and how engaging the writing was. I basically gobbled this book up, you guys. It was such an easy read - the overall feeling was light, fun, and sexy, but it also touches on some more emotional issues (and at least one point resonated with me strongly enough to bring tears to my eyes).
I totally bought into Seth and Carrie's chemistry. I basically fell in love with them from their fun and unique meet-cute, and then stayed on board while their physical attraction steamed up my kindle, and their emotional connection filled up my heart.
This story didn't exactly play out the way I expected it to, but I loved all the ways it surprised me. From the refreshing and original take on the nanny/single dad storyline, to the nerdy/STEM heroine, to the sweet relationship that developed between Carrie and Madison. And, o course there's not really anything sexier than a devoted single dad (except maybe a devoted single professional football player dad. Right? Yeah. That. *fans self*).
I did feel like things got rushed toward the end and I wasn't crazy the way the conflict played out. It resolved quickly and a smidge too neatly, and yet not quite completely. That is, not all hanging threads were resolved and I would have maybe liked a little more time in the aftermath of the conflict. I invested pretty heavily in all three of these main characters, and felt a little bit like I wanted more from them once the conflict was resolved.
That said, I did thoroughly enjoy this story. I'm so glad I heeded the call of this positively lickable cover, and will definitely be back for more! ~ Shelly, 4 "Iron Thor" Stars

Anyone who knows me knows that football novels are my kryptonite. Add on a single daddy and you have me at the knees!! I thought Seth and Carrie were cute, sexy and absolutely adorable together. This was such a great palette cleanser!
On the line started off with the sweetest mert cute I thought I would die from all the swoons. Carrie and Seth were both so adorkable and honest and it was really a breath of fresh air. The banter was great and the chemistry so combustible. While I thought this story had a lot of winning moments I did have mixed feelings about the ending as it felt a little rushed and chaotic. In particular, I felt that Carrie was treated as if she was disposable and the subsequent grovel should have been fleshed out. Overall however, I did enjoy this story and got lost in the swoony and romantic moments!

I did feel like things got rushed toward the end and I wasn't crazy the way the conflict played out. It resolved quickly and a smidge too neatly, and yet not quite completely. That is, not all hanging threads were resolved and I would have maybe liked a little more time in the aftermath of the conflict. I invested pretty heavily in all three of these main characters, and felt a little bit like I wanted more from them once the conflict was resolved.
That said, I did thoroughly enjoy this story. I'm so glad I heeded the call of this positively lickable cover, and will definitely be back for more! ~ Shelly, 4 "Iron Thor" Stars

Anyone who knows me knows that football novels are my kryptonite. Add on a single daddy and you have me at the knees!! I thought Seth and Carrie were cute, sexy and absolutely adorable together. This was such a great palette cleanser!
On the line started off with the sweetest mert cute I thought I would die from all the swoons. Carrie and Seth were both so adorkable and honest and it was really a breath of fresh air. The banter was great and the chemistry so combustible. While I thought this story had a lot of winning moments I did have mixed feelings about the ending as it felt a little rushed and chaotic. In particular, I felt that Carrie was treated as if she was disposable and the subsequent grovel should have been fleshed out. Overall however, I did enjoy this story and got lost in the swoony and romantic moments!

I’m sort of a sucker for romances with nannies and hot single dads. Maybe part of it is because I worked in childcare for many, many years so it makes it easier to connect to a character with a job I’m quite familiar with. But who doesn’t love a man who is great with kids too? On the Line was a must read for me for those very reasons. Plus he’s a football star? Bonus!
Carrie is struggling to find a teaching job position and just when she thinks it can’t get any worse, she’s suddenly without a place to live either. On the plus side, she’s been sexting the cute guy she met at the super market. When her brother mentions an old friend, a football player named Seth, needing a live-in nanny, Carrie decides to go for it but it’s about to get a whole lot of complicated when the dad doing the hiring turns out to be the guy she’s been sexting!
So Carrie is this huge science nerd and comics superfan and basically a fun character you can’t help but like. Seth’s daughter, Maddie, just so happens to also be hugely into comics. There were all sorts of fun touches thrown in about comics and a comic-con and I adored those little moments throughout the book. Seth is pretty sweet and all about his daughter and his dedication to the life he was trying to build for them. Seth and Carrie try to deny the connection they felt before she becomes the nanny, neither wanting to complicate the situation. There was a lot of great sexual tension between these two that built and built and I was a big fan of the push and pull, slow burn it sort of took.
On the downside, it just felt like it was missing something. The story heavily focuses on these characters of Seth and Carrie and the role his daughter plays within that relationship but I felt like the story sort of perused over other issues and didn’t explore some of the outside influences quite as much as I wanted. The possibility of issues were set up and just fell flat and overlooked, especially with Carrie’s brother. I wish he was more prominent in the story.
All in all, a good romance read. I would love to continue the series and see what’s to come for the football players of the Milwaukee Dragons.

Look forward to it. Mark your calendar for it. My ARC Netgalley allowed me to read a really nicely written realistic portrayal of a single dad raising his 12 year old daughter. He happens to be a professional football player and there is lots of football talk but the main story is the attraction he feels after hiring a nanny for his daughter's care while his season starts. It starts out very fun as Carrie forgets her wallet in the grocery store. Standing behind her in line is Seth. He is buying bananas and tampons. His daughter's first period. He's a confident man but he had this purchase wrong so Carrie who is also very confident shows him the right ones and manages her phone number to this clueless dad. There was an inkling of attraction but she has many worries going. She needs a job and a place to live. Her brother knows a guy looking for a nanny.....well, you can see how this goes...
It's done well. They fight sexual attraction like super heroes.
It's done lovely. I feel for Maddie but she has become a bit of a brat. It's not much more than 12 year old anguish but she is working at being a handful.
We see growth in both Carrie as she attempts to develop her career as Seth is winding down his (at least at 31 years old and still actively playing in football? lol).

On the Line is the first book in Milwaukee Dragons series and the first book I’ve read by Liz Lincoln. It follows the story of Carrie Herron and Seth Chamberlain who meet at a checkout aisle and sparks end up flying between the pair after Carrie helps the single dad with a shopping situation. Over the next few days, flirty messages are sent back and forth and neither Carrie and Seth can deny the attraction they feel for one another. But when Carrie manages to land a new job she finds that her new employer is none other than the sexy man she’s been messaging. Can Carrie and Seth put their feelings aside and maintain a professional relationship, or will they risk it all for the sake of what could’ve been?
If you’re not a fan of insta-lust, then One the Line may not be the book for you because things get hot and heavy between these two pretty quickly. I’m not a big fan of insta-anything myself, but I wasn’t really bothered by it because there was still a good amount of angst. I enjoyed watching Carrie and Seth try their best not to cross the line of professionalism and despite the obstacles in their way, I was crossing my fingers that things would end well for them. I also really liked Seth’s relationship with his daughter. They may not always see eye-to-eye but Seth didn’t let that stop him from trying to be the best dad that he could be. He has a lot of love for his daughter and I admire the fact that he put her needs above his own happiness.
I connected with Carrie pretty early on in the story because she reminded me a lot of myself. She’s very much a nerd and she’s at this point in her life where she has to decide whether or not she wants to go back what she knows or take a chance and be creative with her career. She does a lot of self-reflecting and she ends up realizing that sometimes you’ve got to take chances because you’ll never know if you don’t. On the other hand, I wasn’t a big fan of Seth. I couldn’t connect with him at all and his POV fell very flat for me. I felt like we didn’t get to know him well enough. Whenever he wasn’t thinking about having his way with Carrie, he was focusing on mending his relationship with his daughter and neither of these two things are bad it’s just that I wanted there to be situations where Seth focused on his own self. Maybe we could’ve had some more sports action and seen him on the field, or even some more moments with just him and his teammates.
Besides my lack of connection with the hero, the only other thing that bothered me was the ending. It felt rushed and I was kind of expecting a few more pages to wrap things up. Hopefully we can get an update on Carrie and Seth’s relationship in the sequel.
On the Line is a decent start to new sports romance series and I’m curious to see whose story comes next. With a title like Swagger for the sequel, I’m expecting there to be a lot of sass!

This is a middle of the road type of read for me.
In football terms, there were some solid kicks
For example, I loved the tropes involved in this. Single father football player trying to do right by his little tween girl, hires nanny who is hot AF and cosplays Poison Ivy?? Yes please. The sexy bits were plentiful, but I liked the attention to detail when it came to his profession, and her love of science and comics. Hot and sexy times in costumes is fun. The setup for the conflict of nanny/employer relationship as well as single father trying to connect with his tween daughter were there....
However, some scenes were
juuuuuuussst a bit outside (bonus points if you suffer seeing that missed kick like I do #BuffaloBills #wideright).
For an angsty premise, I was surprised that the tension wasn't stronger and that may have something to do the lack of dialogue to give this story more life and build that connection between the characters. There are rarely scenes that involve other supporting characters, and those scenes don't do much more than give an opportunity for Carrie and Seth to continue to talk to themselves about their attraction to each other. Maddie, Seth's daughter has the biggest effect on the story, but there are few scenes where she's not just a placeholder for that mild angst between Seth and Carrie. I would have loved to see some emotional scenes between Maddie and Carrie that didn't involve comics, but perhaps dealing with her abandonment issues, her resentment of the relocation, etc. The potential is all there, there's just not alot of follow through.
I wouldn't rule out another visit to this 'verse because there are things I enjoyed. I just wished for a bit more on the emotional front.
In the end, this is a qualified recommendation for those looking for a detail-oriented football rom with relatively low angst and high heat.

Is there even a question about why I took a chance on this book? Yeah, I mean that cover!!!! I've never heard of this author before and I thought it sounded like a cute sports romance. And in the end, it was a cute sports romance but I felt like it was just a bit too underwhelming for my taste.
There were definitely things I liked about it. The way the main characters initially meet is adorable. And the hero himself is as well. He's sweet and has a sense of responsibility wanting to make life the best it can be for his daughter. I just warmed up to him really fast! But the heroine on the other hand, not so much. Maybe it's the fact that she's young and she doesn't have her life together. Like at all. She felt too immature for my liking and that goes not only for where she is in life but her reactions to things.
Another thing I did like was the nerdy stuff. ;) The heroine and the hero's daughter bond over their love of comics and there's even some cosplay going on. I loved every second of that and how the author incorporated that into the relationship between the main characters as well. It was both cute and sexy at the same time.
I did enjoy reading this and it was a quick read but I'm not sure if it's left me interested enough in continuing reading the series.

This is my first book by this author. It was a little hard for me to get into because it was written in third person. I’m not a fan of third person but I did enjoy some parts of the story. I liked that Seth was a single dad of a twelve year old, he’s a great dad. Carrie and Seth together didn’t really blow me away and I really wish there was an epilogue. That ending felt way too rushed.

Cute story. I liked Seth and Carrie, enjoying how their relationship developed. I just wish there had been more development. It felt like we skipped chunks of time that made it a little hard to see the progression in their relationship.

Sports romances are one of my favorite tropes. This one hit all the right notes. There were enough football scenes. There was a nice level of steam and heat. There was some low-level angsty drama. Overall, this story had a nice pace and a believable plot.
My biggest complaint is how the book ended. I hated it.
Dear Liz Lincoln, please don't end Seth and Carrie's story this way. It was WAY too abrupt. It feels like we're lacking one or two more chapters, or an epilogue at the very least.

I really enjoyed this book. I think fans of The Wedding Date would like this book, as it struck similar chords as a realistic romance--one exploring the boundaries between work, family, and love.
Carrie can't find a teaching job (there's an unclear reason why she lost her last job that I wish I knew more about) and has a super meet-cute in the grocery store with Seth, a NFL player who is new to the area. I liked how well-developed both Carrie and Seth were. He's a devoted parent to his 13 year old daughter, Maddie. I especially appreciated that Maddie was her own, distinct character, and not just a plot-device used to bring these two together. Yes, she was bratty, but I was sympathetic to her in so many ways, and Seth's relationship with her shows us so much about the kind of man he is. It really worked for me.
I enjoyed the slow build-up, the tension between knowing that what you want isn't always enough, and the way that our obligations make it hard to be together. I thought this was a really solid read.

This was a sweet romance that had me smiling way too hard and also didn't allow me to put it down for fear that I would miss out on anything!
Though it was such a fast-paced read, I felt it went great with the speed of Carrie and Seth's romance. I mean, who wouldn't immediately fall head over heels for a hot, well-built athlete?
I have to admit that I wanted a bit more of comic book talk here and there, given that Seth's daughter and Carrie had that in common, but I also really just loved the moments between our two main characters. It was steamy and sweet all at once and I could help but root for them all the way to the end-zone! (See what I did there? *slowly backs away*)
I recommend this to all my nerdy comic book lovers who has a soft spot for football, a few flirty texts, and a whole lot of swoon!

I’ve never read anything by this author (and I don’t even know if this is her first or 23rd book!) but I will be checking her out now. I love the forbidden romance trope, so this was right up my alley. And let me tell you, Seth is the hottest book boyfriend I’ve come across in quite a while. Loved the whole thing. Now I’m off to find out what else Liz Lincoln has written!

I was really surprised by this book. I mean, I love romances with athletes and the whole famous guy falls for the normal girl trope, so this looked good. But so often, I've been disappointed.
I loved Seth. I could totally picture him as Chris Hemsworth, and that's not a hard image to spend time with ;) One of my favorite parts of the book was actually when Seth and Carrie met. I loved seeing them interact in the grocery store isle over feminine hygiene products. He was so uncomfortable and awkward but such a good (albeit misguided) dad for not flinching at what he had to do.
I loved seeing Seth and Carrie get to know each other before she took the job with him. I was actually dreading when she accepting the job/found out that the guy she'd been texting with was going to be her boss. The good thing was, this put the breaks on their growing relationship and allowed more of a friendship to develop between them. That's not to say the attraction was gone, because it wasn't, but it allowed them the opportunity to really become friends. I loved watching their relationship progress.
My one issue with the book was Seth's daughter. I liked her in the beginning. She was frustrating and felt like a real tween but the further I got into the book, the less I liked her. I know that kids can be frustrating and moody and little jerks, but Seth was a good guy and a great dad. And she just got progressively worse. I knew that when she found out about Seth and Carrie things would go bad, and they did. They blew up in the worst way and while I don't blame Seth for putting his daughter first, I really hated how he didn't even fight for him and Carrie. He just gave in to his daughter's demands that he fire her and dump her. And I hated that. He didn't talk to her, he didn't tell her how he felt about Carrie, he just gave in. Granted, Carrie didn't do much fighting herself but I hated that Seth just gave in to his daughter. And then when he finally told his brat point blank how he felt about Carrie, the brat did a 180 and it was just unbelievable to me what came out of her mouth. If she had really believed what she was saying, she would have said it when she and Seth first talked after she found out. But it just felt like damage control at that point.
Going back to something else I loved in this book...the fact that Carrie was into comics and cosplay. That was just cool. Especially since Seth got into it just because the woman he loved and his daughter were into it. He gave it a shot, even dressing up. I got a kick out of "Thor dressing up as Iron Man." That was something I kept thinking I want to see in a future Marvel movie!
Overall, I really did love this book. I'd definitely recommend it!

I’m always a sucker for a single dad romance. Add to that the single dad is a football player and I’m sold. This book had both.
Seth Chamberlain is a football player with a 12-year old daughter. He’s recently been traded to Milwaukee from Houston, where his family lives. His daughter is non to happy about the move – but his life is made easier when he hires Carrie Heron to be his nanny.
Turns out he’s met Carrie – at the grocery store, when Seth was buying the wrong feminine hygiene products for his daughter. Once Carrie starts working for Seth, they decide they have to put their feelings aside for the sake of his daughter, Maddie. Carrie and Maddie are both big into comic books, which play a big role in this book.
This book is told in the third person, and it was often hard to tell who was talking/thinking. I very much prefer books told in the first person, so that was a strike. Carrie and Seth’s relationship moved very slowly. Very. There was a lot of drama with Maddie, but that felt realistic. I have a twelve year old boy and there is a lot drama.
The last ten percent kind of sucked, and didn’t paint Seth in a great light. And there WAS NO EPILOGUE! I hate that so much!
Overall, this book was ok. Just ok.

I’m always a sucker for a single dad romance. Add to that the single dad is a football player and I’m sold. This book had both.
Seth Chamberlain is a football player with a 12-year old daughter. He’s recently been traded to Milwaukee from Houston, where his family lives. His daughter is non to happy about the move – but his life is made easier when he hires Carrie Heron to be his nanny.
Turns out he’s met Carrie – at the grocery store, when Seth was buying the wrong feminine hygiene products for his daughter. I really enjoyed this story and would have given it more stars if it wasn't for the end of the book. But before we get there I'll talk about what I did like.
I liked that Carrie and Seth met and were flirting with each other before she interviewed to be his nanny. It put an interesting twist on the nanny falling in love with her sport star boss. I liked that Mads was older and that she and Carrie had a lot in common. I enjoyed reading the chapters with just the two of them just as much as I did the chapters with Carrie and Seth.
And this is perhaps why the end of the book was such a let down for me. I didn't feel there was any real closure between Mads and Carrie. I felt we needed a chapter with just the two of them following the last chapter of this book. I also would have loved to have an epilogue going a little further into the future to see how they made things work. There were too many unanswered questions.

Wow....hot cover alert! Thanks for allowing me a copy... wowsa. So this is a first read by this author for me and I wasn't disappointed. The blurb follows the book great and I didn't want to put it down. Carrie is an unemployed science teacher who accepts a nanny position due to lack of jobs. I think I loved Seth from the first scene in the grocery store...yummy. That first scene had me chuckling. Big huge guy standing in line with tampons....loved it.
I thought Seth was a huge teddy bear but some of the action was a bit awkward. He wanted to draw a line between dating and boss but for me the lines were blurred after Carrie started sexting him. Seth had a daughter whose mother had abandoned her. I get that a guy has to put his kid first but makes me think the kid is spoiled. Especially when Carrie was so good to the kid and didn't treat her bad. Even went out of her way to make sure the kid enjoyed the comic stuff. The way Seth was buying his daughter stuff just didn't sit well with me.
Overall though I thought the story was great, and funny. Can't wait to see what the author comes out with next. Four stars of entertainment!

OMG. Carrie and Seth were pure magic. He is so swoon, but enough of a jerk at one point to not be too perfect. Loved this book!

I am always up for a sports romance, and the single dad - nerdy nanny angle had me interested. I am happy to say, it was a winning combination, that resulted in a fun romance.
Who?
* Seth, a new linebacker with the Dragons, who's two most important priorities were his daughter and football, in that order.
* Carrie, a comic book loving, former science teacher, who liked to cosplay and write graphic novel style textbooks in her free time
What?
In need of a job and a place to live, Carrie allows her brother to set up an interview for her as the live-in nanny for one of the Dragon players. Fortunately, the man and his daughter were both thrilled with Cassie. Unfortunately, the employer was the man she had hoped to date. Since the job was a necessity, Carrie decided that her feelings would need to be put on the backburner, but both she and Seth had a hard time fighting the attraction they had to each other.
Why?
I am a lover of sports romances, and loved the whole set up. I know the single day - nanny thing could come across as cliché, but Lincoln built in enough elements to give this story its own spin.
I really liked the chemistry between Carrie and Seth. There was physical attraction, but there was also an interest in getting to know each other on a personal level. The connection between them was believable. I feel like we got to know Carrie a lot better than Seth, though, and I feel like there was a lot more which could have been revealed.
What I did know about Seth was that he adored his daughter. It was endearing watching him struggle with this new attitude his tween daughter was throwing at him. I gave him a lot of credit for not giving up, and I may have shed a tear or two during their heart to heart.
Carrie came out strong from the gate. She was a really interesting character, and I loved all her nerdiness. It was fun listening to her talk about her thoughts on comic books and education, and I like that it helped her connect to Maddie.
I liked getting to meet Carrie and Seth's family members, and we spent a little bit of time with their friends. This being the beginning of a series, I am curious where it is going, because I didn't feel like we spent enough time with anyone outside of the Seth-Carrie bubble.
Overall: A promising start to a new series, which I will definitely be reading more of.
