Ok I just could not handle the little supposed letter from God with a just a little bit of scripture. To me its a commentary written as like its from God. Just did not like it all.

I don't know about you, but times have been pretty tough here lately. It's easy to get dejected and discouraged when you find yourself working harder and harder and feel like you're just getting farther and farther behind.

I was watching my youngest daughter at our church's Thanksgiving potfaith last night. Arielle is a hugger. She loves to hug everyone. Everyone is her friend (whether they know it or not!)

When she was very little, we lived in Phoenix. Often we would be driving down a six or eight lane freeway going 65 mph and she would point at some random car whizzing past and say, "That's my friend!"

When we got home and I thought about that precious little love, it struck me... I used to be just like her! I used to run up to everyone I knew, expecting to be accepted just as I was and loved... no exceptions.

I'm not sure exactly when that changed... whether it was the constant bullying in an inner-city public grade school... a series of abusive relationships beginning in my teen years... but at some point I stopped trusting other people... and I stopped believing that I was of any value to anyone but my children.

A completely open heart and nature was somehow, over the years, transformed into borderline agoraphobia. At the very same dinner, surrounded by the very same loving and caring people, I found myself uncomfortable and panicky. The conversation that goes on in my mind says that it's better not to reach out and try to speak with someone... you see, my mind says, it would just make them feel as if they HAD to speak with you. It's not because they really want to... obviously they don't, because they haven't already. I mean, of course they would be polite... these are polite and caring people, but they wouldn't really MEAN it... Frankly, I need to learn to tell my mind to shut up, but I'm not there yet. I honestly believe that any friendly overtures made to me are done out of obligation and good manners. It takes years of interaction before I actually trust that another person might trulylike me.

So, imagine my joy when I got sent a free copy of "His Treasure: Gems of Love from Your King" by Sheri Rose Shepherd from Tyndale House Publishers. (Being on their review team is like year round Christmas!)

I've read several of Sheri's books before... and I even got to see her speak at a Women of Faith conference many years ago in Phoenix. I was very excited to see what her latest book contained.

It's not a very big book. It fits easily inside a purse, diaper bag, or backpack. And it certainly isn't a hard book to read... each "chapter" is a two page spread that includes a Bible verse, an important thought... and a love letter from God. Each little letter contains one important point that is illustrated and reinforced by the Bible verse and thought.

For example, in the chapter on Identity, I read that God has an identity for me that is based on my true worth in Him.
If you could see yourself the way I do, even for a moment, no one would have the power to define who you are.

Who is defining who I see myself as? Certainly not God... When I still allowed Him to define me, I was just like my little Arielle.

The Bible verse listed along with the full-page letter on Identity is from 1 Peter 2:10... "Once you had no identity as a people. Once you received no mercy, now you have received God's mercy."

This little book has traveled everywhere with me in my bag since I received it. I cannot imagine going anywhere without it. My 12 year old daughter will often pull it out of my bag and read a page or two at a time... which makes me very glad. Maybe if my girls can have a firm grasp of who they are... daughters of the King of Kings... they won't have to suffer some of the isolation and self-imposed loneliness that I have dealt with most of my adult life.

Her Joy for the Lord, humorous heart-warming stories mixed with truth and transparency renews our Faith by reminding us how much we are truly loved and adored by our Father in heaven. She lives in Southern California with her husband of 22 years and their daughter.

My Review:

Sheri Rose Shepherd is well known for her His Princess series, not to be out done His Treasure is just as inspiring and touching as the others in the series. Love Letters from our Father designed to gives us faith and hope in this troubled world lest we forget. As always these touching words are bound in the most beautiful book perfect for all us girls. And the pages with their lovely typeset also have beautiful illustrations to accompany them.

Some of the most heart warming words that the Lord sent to us the author has combined into a treasury for us to enjoy daily. My favorite has to be My Hope page 25, "When you don't know what to do, be still long enough to allow Me to calm the storm in your heart and part the sea that seems to lie in the way of My promises for you." Such comforting words in times of trouble, times that can only be tamed by Him.

This book will be a pure delight to your heart. I know to read it helped me oh so much in the day to day struggles I have and I'm sure it will be a big help to you too.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from Tyndale Publishers.

his tiny little book is filled with inspiring and beautiful letters written to women as if from the hand of God. Scripture is laced throughout each letter and they are worded in such a way that it appeals to the heart of all women. Women long to know they are loved, wanted, appreciated, valued, and special. If you are looking for something to give to a lady that you know this would be perfect. I think it is a book that would be great to give a teen girl. In the throes of the teen years as she struggles to find her own identity and worth, as she struggles to define herself and to discover God's plan for her life this little book will inspire her to press on. It will remind her of her tremendous worth to the Father who created her. It will be a fresh breath in the midst of the pressure to fit in and be like everyone else. As I read this I was amazed at the beauty that was captured in each letter and loved the referenced scripture. I immediately told my own teen daughter that she needed to read the book. As a way to encourage this I left it on her vanity in the bathroom. Each morning when she goes in to get ready for the day and fix her hair she picks up the book and reads a small section. A few days ago I asked what she thought of the book. Her response: "Mom, this is the best little book I have read. I love the letters from God!!" and then she began to tell me the favorite parts she had read so far. I am thankful for books that cause my daughter to remember her worth to God. I am thankful for books that open opportunities to talk to her about how very unique and special she is. I am thankful for books that cause her to look into scripture and to explore God's character and bask in His love. Thanks to Tyndale for this review copy.

His Treasure: Gems Of Love From Your King is a devotional-style book by Sheri Rose Shepherd. Each devotion includes a "letter from God", a "Treasure of Truth", and a Scripture or two pertaining to the subject.

I really don't like writing negative reviews, and I like Sheri Rose Shepherd (I read, reviewed, and enjoyed Your Heart's Desire), so let me start with the positive. This book is absolutely beautiful. It's a gorgeous padded hardcover book with stunningly beautiful color pages inside with lovely illustrations. It looks like it would be a great book to present as a gift.

On the negative side, I did not like the style of Sheri writing letters "from God". She speaks in the first person tone as if she's speaking directly from God to you. I've not really seen this writing style before (other than the aforementioned Your Heart's Desire, but in that book it was brief blurbs here and there, not the whole book, so I just skimmed/skipped over them) and it makes me *extremely* uncomfortable. As a human being, I don't feel right putting words in God's mouth and speaking/writing them as directly from Him - I feel like it's a scary thing to put words in God's mouth that didn't come directly from His Word - the Bible. I understand what she's trying to do here, but it feels wrong in my spirit. God has given us all the Words He wants to give us in the Bible, and I don't feel like it's our place to give Him new words that we've made up and sign His name to it.

I know Sheri has a heart for the Lord and helps many women, but a better writing style probably would have been as a form of prayer TO the Lord, as opposed to a letter directly (supposedly) FROM the Lord. Because of all this, I can't personally really recommend this book. I'm sure others may feel differently and that's okay, too.

His Treasure by Sheri Shepherd is one of the most encouraging reads I have read for this summer. The book is not very long and can be easily carried in a purse or bag to be read when you have a spare minute. I found this to be useful when waiting at a doctor’s office or during my lunch break at work. What was a surprise to me was what I found inside. The pages were elaborate and almost reminded me of the decorative paper that I use when I scrapbook. This book was made for a woman because what woman can resist beauty when she sees it. Even better was the layout of the book for each chapter was basically written in a love letter style written to the Christian woman from God. Each chapter was encouraging and it gave me a sense of how loved and precious I am to God. I also liked how each chapter’s theme was that of a treasure and that treasure was what the reader was compared to from the perspective of God and this perspective was backed up with scripture. I really enjoyed reading this book so much that I passed it on to the bible study coordinator at my church with a recommendation that we read one chapter to the ladies during each study to give them encouragement. I also recommend every Christian woman to read this book and to read it often because it will leave you feeling loved and special to God.

I requested this book because I love author Sheri Rose Shepherd. She is a talented writer and is good at explaining things about Christ and life in general. When I got the package in the mail I discovered that this is a very small book. It's height is about half that of a typical paperback book. Then I opened the cover and was delighted from there on out! This book is wonderful, especially for a daily reading. She has written little messages for each topic from His Love to His Discipline. Each note is a page long and includes a verse and a quote on the opposite page.

One of my favorite tid bits:

My Child,

.......I know you have a passion inside of you to do something bigger than yourself. My plan for your life has already been put into motion; however, you will remain in a holding pattern until I alone am enough for you. Because I love you, My ultimate plan for you will begin to unfold only when I have your full adoration and attention. (His Treasure)

Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Luke 12:34

Love this book, I highly recommend!

If you have ever struggled to find a way to connect your heart to your heavenly Father, His Treasure is the book for you.
This book of beautiful “love letters” from God, to you, will discover treasures of truth, real love, and wisdom from God’s Word.
This book has gems of love with a note from: Your Loving Father, a scripture to go along with the letter, and a “treasure of truth” section.

I love the letters from God and the scripture to go along with it. The book was filled with beautiful pictures and wonderful treasures of truth throughout. Written from the prospective of God speaking to His beloved daughter and accompanied with appropriate bible verses. If you'd like to get a better sense of the Father God who loves you, this book is for you.

I highly recommend this delightful book for daily reading. Every page is filled with biblical truths and love notes from the King. Every note is personal and addresses a different area of struggle. His Treasure can be used as a bible study. Also the book is small enough to carry around and beautiful enough to give as gifts.

I look forward to being able to pass the encouragement along to others.

Thanks to Tyndale House Publishers for providing me with a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my review.

This book is so lovely! It truly makes you feel like a princess just holding it!!
The letters are so personal and touching! I know this is going to be a book I'll treasure for many years! I have never seen a book this beautiful in my life, and it's not "just" the cover or the ornate pages but the message on each page is beautiful.
The Bible translation is not King James, the version I'm used to reading, but if that bothers you I would recommend just looking them up in your personal Bible because there is so much to be gleaned from the "letters".
It would make such a thoughtful gift for any occasion!
I received a copy to review on my blog, yet somehow I feel as if it is a gift.. a gem of love from my King.
This is the kind of book that changes lives!

I really enjoy these little gems of books like His Treasure that are an “easy read” but filled with so much wisdom and inspiration.

This book is a beautiful collection of letters from God to his daughters. Each one begins with a “Treasure of Truth” and a Bible verse that is the main subject.

“My Treasure” and then whatever the topic is such as “His Timing” or “His Legacy.” I like how it compares and contrasts God’s will and perspective to ours. There is then a brief devotional filled with inspiration that will fill your cup for the day and give you that little extra something you sometimes need.

I liked the subtle illustrations that connected each page to it’s truth and small things like the font and layout of the book make it a perfect little treasure.

His Treasure: Gems of Love From Your King truly is a little treasure to be read daily and inspired for a lifetime.

"Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.
For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!"
I am very happy that I've been able to review this book, blessed if you will. As with many other things, this book came into my life at a time that I believe I could use it most. I really needed this, many other times in my life I would have liked to have had this to read. But as with the other things, God sent it to me when I was ready to have it.

these are beautiful love letters for us written as if God Himself penned them. there are letter to encourage, to show us His love, guide our lives, give support and at all times to let us know who God is and what is in His heart. while not all the letters impacted me there were a few the felt as if God was speaking directly to me. the great thing about this book it that you can read it many times and each time a new letter will be meaningful to you as you life changes.
