LIFE ABOVE PAR tracks author Phil Robinson’s adventures through 60 years of golf. The adventures run the gamut of emotions -- from funny, to tragic, and even a couple about love.
The book is set up like a round of golf. There are 18 holes (stories), a Halfway House with Chip Shots (short stories) and a 19th hole with favorite 19th holes and 19th hole encounters. It concludes with an Appendix featuring his 12 Step Guide for Successful Business Golf, Business Golf Stories, Favorite Fairway Finds and his Top 99 Courses played.
Phil resides in Hanover, MA with his wife Tina. He has two sons, Erik and Kurt. Sports have played a major role in his life. From playing high school and college football to coaching both his sons in multiple sports to being a board certified official in football, basketball and baseball, he has gained many memorable experiences from his multiple sporting involvements.
Golf came along and has become a passion. Maybe his parents knew what was to come when they gifted him the perfect golf initials, PAR.
I don’t have many regrets but not starting golf earlier is one! Great read that fired up the golf bug!! Love to play and this was a great read! Phil/ PAR is someone I would love to play with…. If you ever venture to Kansas. 😂
Such an enjoyable read. So many unique stories of experiences, encounters, love and laughter all centered around the game Phil loves. From around the world, to his local watering holes, Phil does a great job of sharing relatable stories, a shank here and there of course, and naturally an ACE or two, or three. In fact, just a day or so ago he got another one after the publication of this book. I may be biased as to my review, and both my parents are mentioned, with Rita being cupid, and Roy writing the postscript for his dear friend. I highly encourage you to enjoy his experiences and create your own through Phil's wonderful outlook on golf and it's history. His sequel may follow with "My life shooting Aces" soon ! Well done Phil.
For golfers and non golfers alike Life Above Par is an excellent read. The Author, Phil Robinson, is a great story teller and shares his most memorable moments that range from humorous to romantic. And if your local to Massachusetts you’ll be able to identify with many chapters. I especially liked the creative format that Phil used to outline the chapters. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
