From possession by demons, violent spirits that have thrown him bodily across the room and encounters with dead serial killers, to ghosts that have made him fear for his very life, this is a collection of shocking experiences that have made Derek stare into the darkest places of the spirit world.
Derek Acorah was a professional Spirit Medium. He captivated audiences by communicating with dead people with the aid of his Ethiopian spirit guide, Sam. He was one of Britain's most respected paranormal investigators.
In the introduction to this preposterous book Derek Acorah makes the following claim:
"Once I would go on an investigation and merely talk about the energies I was picking up and the spirit entities present, but now I have progressed to channelling those energies."
Anyone who is aware of Derek Acorah's exposure as a fraudulent medium on the Most Haunted television show must view the above claim as laughable. For those of you who are unaware of Acorah's ignominious unmasking on that show please allow me to enlighten you before you waste a penny on 'Extreme Psychic'...
The resident parapsychologist on the Most Haunted show had suspected Acorah of being a bogus medium. In order to demonstrate this he fed Acorah the names of two fictitious spirit entities (viz. 'Rik Eedles' and 'Kreed Kafer') along with some fake biographical data relating to each entity. Acorah swallowed the bait and proceeded to act out (i.e. 'channel') the personalities of the non-existent entities in front of the Most Haunted television audience.
As you've probably guessed, the names of the two fictitious spirit entities - 'Rik Eedles' and 'Kreed Kafer' - were anagrams concocted by the parapsychologist. When rearranged they read as follows:
Rik Eedles (Derek Lies)
Kreed Kafer (Derek Faker)
You would think that anyone with half a brain would have saw those two sucker punches coming. But not Derek. And not even his alleged spirit guide 'Sam' (surprise, surprise).
Acorah, having been exposed as a fraud in such a clear and unambiguous way, was ejected from Most Haunted.
Therefore, the question we must ask ourselves is this:
Given the fact that Acorah is a fraudulent medium why should we believe anything he writes in his books about the 'paranormal'?
Stories from the author's life as a medium. Places in his home town and elsewhere show the amount of activity we can all feel but may not quite understand; the room which makes you feel uneasy; why is that room always so cold? He recounts his visit to Pearl Harbour, as well as a cruise with an unwelcome guest. A very quick read, very interesting and a bit of fun and chills.
Really enjoyed this one. Life after death, angels, ghosts, etc. I really like reading about that stuff and this was no different. Read this because I like watching that haunting show on Prime. and so cool. loved it.
Totally ridiculous, hilarious book, completely unbelievable, with nothing to make you even think oh that could have happened. Utter nonsense. And yet people will believe.
Acorah has a way of explaining his experiences that touch the heart. There are so many stories of the history of people and places that in itself is fascinating but when he adds his personal experiences it is just that much better.
