The devastating Black Rain has transformed the once-lush land into an arid wasteland, turning all water into a gel-like substance across the globe. Fresh, drinkable water has become the planet's most precious commodity, sought after by all. Some have chanced upon underground liquid reserves, while those with no choice but to drink gelled water become "Corrosives," disfigured by a verdigrislike substance covering their bodies. The Golden Tower of Prince Boris shines above the otherwise derelict city of Torono, housing his Silkers army. From the Golden Tower, Geo Woodman secretly leads the fight to save his clan and the people of Torono from the dangers of corrupt leaders and the hazardous climate.

Excellent new novel from Costi Gurgu set in a dark dystopian future with a lot of mutagens agents and creepy creatures that, in a way, very much reminded me of China Mieville`s, New Crobuzon City.

Anyway, this is to be taken as a compliment, not a direct comparison, because this book has all that it needs to be a hit for every one of it`s readers!

The plot is quite intricate, with some predictable moments, true, but nothing exaggeratedly disruptive and, also, the pace of the novel stays very alert, with very few moments of respiro.

The characters felt convincing, only sometimes, Geo looked untrained and naive, to counter in some of the other scenes that he had some backup plans, ready to go at any moment of danger. But outside of this I liked a lot the interactions between the characters of the book and, also, let`s not talk about the revelation from the ending of the novel and the way the things were nicely and smoothly wrapped up until the last page.

Got the paperback version directly from the Amazon, it wasn`t listed yet on ebay, the shipping taxes were something, but at least I got the book in like three days from my purchase (with DHL).

With two novels out, and what gripping & daring books(!!), in a span of a few months, this year is proving to be an amazing one for the canadian (born in Romania) writer Costi Gurgu!

If you haven`t read anything by him, now is the time to do it! What are you waiting for!!!!

Climate change and Sustainable development are the core questions before the whole humanity.Costi Gurgu' s novel "Green Corrosion" deals with the same question. It is a sci-fi thriller that revolves around the plot where the planet earth is plagued by a Black Rain turning water into a gel and destroying the whole ecology. Geo Woodman is on a mission to protect his clan and to secure drinking water for his people.
The apocalypse has led the whole humanity into a war for survival.
The story line does not seem to be a pure fiction and one wonders, if we do not stop exploiting our environment indiscriminately, it may become true in near future.
The narrative is incredibly intriguing, engrossing and thought provoking. Inspite of the intricacies of the plot the author has with his narrative held every thing together.
The novel has got a befitting title and perfectly portrays the riveting plot.
It is one of those reads which keeps you hooked and races your heart beat at every twist.
A much recommended read for thriller fans.

Strikingly realistic

This story takes place in the future when fresh water has become so scarce that people are fighting over it. Black Rain has been responsible for turning all water into a gel-like substance across the globe. What really drew me into this story was how realistic and possible it is that this kind of thing could happen. The main character, Geo Woodman has to secretly lead the fight to save his clan and the people of Torono from corrupt leaders and the hazardous climate. Reading this book really made me feel like I was getting a glimpse into the future and I was on the edge of my seat to find out the outcome of it all. Pick this one up if you’re looking for a different type of novel.

Venturing Through Modern Science Fiction's Ecological Dystopia

Green Corrosion is a thought-provoking and socially relevant work of science fiction that delves into complex ecological and ethical dilemmas. Costi Gurgu's novel presents a dystopian future where the consequences of environmental degradation and unchecked corporate power have pushed humanity to the brink of disaster. Gurgu's narrative unfolds in a meticulously constructed world, showcasing his ability to merge compelling storytelling with a critical examination of contemporary issues.

Gurgu's novel excels in its ability to blur the lines between traditional genre boundaries. While firmly rooted in science fiction, GC also contains elements of political thriller and social commentary. The author navigates the intricacies of environmental activism, corporate greed, and government intrigue with finesse, crafting a narrative that resonates with readers on both intellectual and emotional levels. The characters, especially the protagonist, are multi-dimensional, reflecting the moral ambiguity inherent in a world on the brink of ecological collapse.

Furthermore, Green Corrosion serves as a timely and pertinent exploration of humanity's relationship with the environment. Gurgu's portrayal of an Earth teetering on the edge of ecological catastrophe (and even beyond it) serves as a cautionary tale, prompting readers to reflect on the real-world consequences of environmental degradation and the ethical responsibilities that come with scientific advancements. The novel challenges conventional notions of progress and asks probing questions about the balance between technological innovation and ecological sustainability. A great read, especially for Sci-Fi enthusiasts.

The MC of Green Corrosion is Geo Woodman, a young man on the quest to find drinkable water to save his comrades' life. The world he lives in is a world where green rain has turned water (most of it, at least) into a gel-like substance that turns people "drinking" it to survive into a sort of zombies. Most of the remaining drinkable water is in the hands of a few, an elite clan that even feels free to waste it (e.g. fountains).

So Geo's quest is not only one for survival but also a loud slap in the face of classism.

Gurgu's dystopic, post-apocalyptic worldbuilding is complex and deeply described, to the extent that - especially if you are an HSP like me - you can feel the sufferance and pain of these people on your body and in your mind. :( In other words, if you have been searching for a Sci-Fi novel with a classic Sci-Fi flavor (e.g. Dick's writing), Green Corrosion is a very good choice.

Also, prepare to read a little bit of romance, too, especially towards the end of the book. ;)

5/5 stars for me!

it's a real crime against humanity that such an author had to leave his country and keep a day job instead of focusing on writing.. he's not the only one in such a situation (and many of them don't even manage to produce their work in the little free time allowed by work, family and nowadays life in general) so it's an excellent moment to actually think how many masterpieces can we afford to lose before acting in order to change the current situation

regarding the novel, it proposes a novel postcatastrophic universe where strange things happen and dog eats dog at every step in a truly darwinesque manner.. confusion, chaos, sadism, kindness, egotism and so on are mixed in an overwhelming action-driven manner toward an open ending which invites more installments (the second volume should appear soon, can't wait!).. all in one, an excellent read, I want more!

Green Corrosion is the first installment of a captivating series set in a dystopian future, marred by ecological catastrophe. The city's political landscape is fraught with turmoil as various clans vie for influence.

The pacing and storytelling of the novel kept me eagerly anticipating each turn of the page, leaving me yearning for the next chapter.

I love blends of horror and sci-fi so that alone had me hooked before I began reading. The characters are incredibly real, I felt like I understood them. It's a page-turner, but also makes you pause and reflect. Definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a story that's entertaining and thought-provoking. There’s so much room to get creative and I personally love that. I’m sure with everyone’s creativity and imagination, reading this book will have us understanding such vastly different details despite reading the same words. I highly recommend it.

Gurgu’s Green Corrosion begins at a time when Christianity is a forgotten religion (along with several other religions), but the harem survived; the sky color is like moldy cheese, and many people had corrosion on their skin from the contaminated water turned into a gel-like material from the dark rain that everyone loathed. The only high-rise building still in use in the city of Toronto is Golden Tower, or the Silkers Tower, as people call it. Prince Boris rules from that tower, “All the other high-rises had been abandoned long ago after entire floors collapsed with the tenants inside.”

It is a celebration time, and people are gathered on the street for a glimpse of the glorious Silkers soldiers. The author’s description leads to a pretty grim picture of the day, and the water passage ceremony, where the limbs of the young soldiers are severed, is simply gory. The leadership in the tower is corrupt, and life is tough for the people. In such circumstances, Ambassador Geo Woodman leads the fight for survival in the city. Can he save the city and the people?

Opinion:
The story is shocking enough to alert us not to remain so casual and overlook the tale-tale signs of change in our environment. Gurgu’s writing reminds us of the destruction of nature and global warming, which are already playing havoc but have not yet shaken our consciousness and can one day destroy us. The green corrosion, which seems to be all imagination today, reminds us that this is the only planet we know and must not take it for granted and keep polluting.

In Green Corrosion, the clans with separate identities and specific talents rule lives, and Gurgu’s characters are interesting. The story is gripping if you dive into this strange world, and it stands out. Gurgu packs lots of action into every page with dreamy language, creating webs of magic. I found the imagery enchanting, giving a unique flavor and charm. And what happens to the battle royal against Prince Boris and his mighty forces? Grab a copy of the Green Corrosion; you will be delighted to learn what happens.

"Green Corossion Book One" is a pertinent text and an eco-based sci-fi thriller written by Costi Gurgu. In a dystopian world, the weather has become toxic and the devastating Black Rain has left the waters slimy and glutinous. One man, Geo Woodman takes on a dangerous and challenging task to save his clan and the people of Torono from the adverse new weather conditions and corrupt leaders.

This is a masterpiece and a beautiful addition to its genre. It is richly imagined with well-drawn heroes and villains. That it combines action, romance, and warmth is a win-win in all ways. The author incorporates new ideas capturing the reader's mind in ways that one is least expecting. I was impressed by some of the concepts that the author brought forward. The text further challenges us to think differently about the current weather changes such as global warming inspiring us to take action. Here, readers will find themselves tasting a darker timeline and one that the protagonist invariably triumphs over in the least likely ways. Enthusiasts of science fiction books infused with apocalyptic themes will find a home in this well-written book that offers much more than escapist entertainment.

I'm pretty fond of dystopian SF, but it's not a genre where there's much that's unique. This one kept me guessing right through to the end, and had great characters from multiple factions, each with their own ideologies and goals. Also unique world-building, I found it interesting trying to decode the bastardized versions of current-day place names. Definitely looking forward to the second book.

a dystopian like fantasy book that really grabbed me instantly.

“Green Corrosion” by Costi Gurgu is a dystopian like fantasy book that really grabbed me instantly. It’s baffling how fast you can get caught up into a plot. This author manages to do it easily. It is a little scary to read because, at least, I was thinking a lot about the plot in this book as something that might happen to us in the future…

This is an apocalyptic story that revolves around survival and focuses on the realistic risks of a corroded earth alongside fantasy elements. Life is resumed as normal as possible, in between war for survival. There is plenty of adventure and characters to follow - predominantly from Geo's perspective - and the story is descriptive and written really young.

BOOK REVIEW:- GREEN CORRISION

AUTHOR:- COSTI GURGU

MY RATINGS : 5/5

The story takes place in a world ruined by something called Black Rain, which has turned all water into a thick, jelly-like substance. Clean water is extremely rare, and people who drink the gelled water become disfigured and sick. This idea was very unique and grabbed my attention right away.

The setting felt very real to me — dry, broken, and full of danger. I could easily imagine the ruined city of Torono and the shining Golden Tower standing tall above it. The contrast between the rich and powerful living in the tower and the struggling people below was done really well.

Geo Woodman, the main character, was one of my favorite parts of the book. He’s not just strong and smart, but he truly cares about helping his people. He’s fighting against corruption and trying to protect his clan, even when the odds are against him. I found myself really rooting for him throughout the story.

The plot moved at a good pace and kept me hooked from beginning to end. It had a nice mix of action, emotion, and deeper themes about survival, power, and hope. It made me think about how people respond to crisis — some use it to gain control, while others try to help.

Overall, this was a powerful and well-written book with a creative world, strong characters, and a meaningful story. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys dystopian fiction with heart.

THANKYOU
HAPPY READING

Pure Futurism

I love stories with foresight into the future, all the more so because today, catastrophic scenarios associated with mismanagement of resources is not an impossible scenario at all.

In this book you will find a story full of action and adventures facing this new scenario in which humanity has immersed itself, having drinking water as its most precious and coveted commodity.

Costi Gurgu's Green Corrosion is a science fiction novel that is giving me sleepless nights. Initially it gave me the impression that it is more fantasy than science fiction.
The novel is set in a world where a Black Rain has turned all water into a strange gel-like substance. This substance is poisonous, causing disfigurements in those who drink it, which are collectively called "corrosion." Those suffering from corrosion are referred to as "corrosives." To add to their troubles, the treatment is super expensive. While the suffering caused by corrosion is described in detail, there wasn’t much explanation of its cause for a significant portion of the story—thus making me feel that it leaned more towards fantasy than science fiction (nothing wrong with fantasy; it’s just that I have a different frame of mind for the two genres). However, some explanation was offered later, such as:

"If you asked any twentieth-century scientists about the four states of water, they’d correct you by stating that there are only three states. In the early twenty-first century, Elmer Fuchs, a physical chemist at Graz University of Technology in Austria, conducted experiments into water properties and successfully simulated, for a whole forty-five minutes, what we today call gelled water."

I found the theme of corrosives particularly captivating. For some reason, it reminded me of victims of leprosy. Stev's story arc offered glimpses into the lives of corrosives, as his wife Sara was suffering from the condition too.

Anyway, Black Rain had other effects as well. For example, it destroyed most of the wood, making it a rare material. It also ushered in new social and economic systems where wood could be as precious as silk and political strategies were based on treatments for corrosion. In short, one could say the Black Rain marked the distinction between the past and the present. The book follows many of these political maneuvers through Geo, a woodman ambassador. However, I must admit that I found other themes more interesting.

That’s not all. This book was an incredible adventure full of possibilities and ideas and often contained twists when I was expecting none:

"He believed the new Rain would not only bring death and destruction but, like the first one, the Black Rain, it would bring transformation. Metamorphosis. Evolution."

The prose was good, with occasional sparks of brilliance, and the characters were excellently developed, though I have a feeling that Geo's character could have been a bit more complex. The story made me hate a character—Pi—and that’s always a sign of good character development. My favorite character in the story has to be Bree:

"She was always cheerful and full of energy, as if her grandfather, the dark and morose Greg Rumi, had had nothing to do with her genetic material. Where he seemed like he was always plotting to assassinate someone, she was a light and luminous feather, floating on a gentle breeze through the laboratories."

In short, Costi Gurgu's Green Corrosion is an excellent science fiction novel that I wholeheartedly recommend to lovers of dystopian worlds.

Costi Gurgu's "Green Corrosion" paints a vivid and chilling dystopian society with meticulous detail, immersing readers in a haunting and anxiety-inducing atmosphere right from the start. The story is set in a future North America where the most coveted resource is clean drinking water, a world scarred by the devastating Black Rain, a cataclysmic event that has turned water into a gel-like substance. Gurgu masterfully conveys the theme of survival in a world dominated by corrupt rulers like Prince Boris and plagued by grotesque mutations. The narrative is punctuated by eerie creatures such as the Night Hunter, described with bone-chilling precision. According to Gurgu, the description is “ Its head was the size of a locomotive, its snout so long that he could not see it entirely. It opened its snout and rows of hundreds of sharp teeth shone in the moonlight.”
The story begins with Geo, a complex protagonist negotiating with Prince Boris. Geo's character is defined by a yearning for power and recognition, driven by fear and ambition. The introduction of the enigmatic Lady L adds complexity to the narrative, as her interactions with Geo unveil hidden aspects of the Silker Society and touch upon taboo subjects like Christianity. Gurgu's prose is immersive, bringing to life the grim and decayed world, and the pacing keeps readers engaged as secrets are gradually revealed, raising the stakes incrementally. The novel adeptly explores the challenges of a post-apocalyptic world, where corrosive water causes deformities and becomes the new plague, overshadowing previous illnesses. As shown in the book, “Her face had been savagely gnawed by the corrosion and her little body was twisted and deformed by a lost battle with the gelled water. She was beyond any human shape, yet her eyes-her eyes were shining with the innocence and cheerfulness of a child. A child who still didn't know what life had”. That description gives us a vivid description of how gruesome the deformities were. The scarcity of preserved water sources hidden from the masses intensifies the power struggle between Geo and the corrupt ruler Prince Boris, protected by Luna warriors.
The narrative delves into the dynamics of power and authority, showcasing the intricacies of alliances and secret deals among characters. The incorporation of Liquid traditions, such as the prohibition of handshakes adds depth to the narrative's universe. However, the transition from action to romance between Geo and Bree feels somewhat forced and lacks emotional depth. Despite this, the novel is well written and gives great dynamics pertaining science and humanism while detailing a thought-provoking tale.

Are you drawn to captivating narratives that delve into the pressing issues of climate change? Do you yearn for a fresh perspective on how we can instigate change in a world at the brink of disaster? Look no further than "Green Corrosion" by Corsti Gurgu. From its striking cover that hints at an impending conflict fueled by a deadly substance, to its thought-provoking title, this novel promises to be fascinating.
In a world altered by the ominous "Black Rain," Earth's landscape has transformed, and its inhabitants have turned into corrosive beings. Amid this chaos, a lone hero emerges: Geo Woodman. He stands against the oppressive leaders of his city, who pose a dire threat to the planet's future climate. Corsti Gurgu weaves a flawless tapestry of science fiction in a realm where those in power show little regard for the environment. The scarcity of fresh water becomes a catalyst for war, exposing the cruel class divisions perpetuated by the wealthy who will stop at nothing to safeguard their hidden water sources.
The author eloquently underscores the theme of classism, exemplified by the stark contrast between the impoverished and the privileged. As one character insightfully observes, "Same shitty reality. Same poor, corroded people. All were fighting to survive. That was all it was to be living in the Exterior—Survival. Unless you were Prince Boris or the mayor." At the pinnacle of authority, Prince Boris becomes embroiled in a conflict with Geo Woodman, who earns the title of ambassador for the Woodman Clan. Their battleground: the pursuit of new sources of fresh water. Woodman's unyielding determination to shield his people from the encroaching city of Torono is nothing short of admirable.
"Green Corrosion" unfolds with heart-pounding intensity, exemplified by the spine-tingling encounter with the Night Hunter, a creature that leaves Geo Woodman trembling in terror. In a moment that takes the reader's breath away, the monster solidifies before Geo's eyes, transforming from smoke into green-gray flesh, complete with sharp teeth and undulating gills. Geo's swift retreat, driven by sheer fear, mirrors the best of movielike suspense. Corsti Gurgu masterfully captures these heart-stopping moments, immersing readers in a cinematic experience.
What sets this novel apart is its ability to portray Geo's vulnerability, making him a character readers can genuinely relate to. In this weakness, we find our own humanity reflected, and it draws us deeper into the story.

"Green Corrosion" by Costi Gurgu is a compelling and thought-provoking work of dystopian science fiction that delivers a haunting portrayal of a world on the brink of collapse due to environmental devastation. Gurgu's narrative masterfully immerses readers in a bleak future where clean water is the most precious resource, transformed into a gel-like substance by the catastrophic Black Rain. The author's meticulous attention to detail paints a vivid and chilling picture of this post-apocalyptic society. The world is plagued by grotesque mutations, eerie creatures like the Night Hunter, and the corrosive water that brings deformities and despair. Gurgu's descriptions of these elements are bone-chilling, pulling readers deeper into this nightmarish world.

At the heart of the story is Geo Woodman, a complex protagonist whose yearning for power and recognition is driven by fear and ambition. His character is beautifully woven into the narrative, and as he negotiates with the corrupt ruler Prince Boris, the tension and intrigue intensify. The addition of the enigmatic Lady L adds depth to the storyline, unveiling hidden aspects of the Silker Society and delving into taboo subjects like Christianity. Gurgu's prose is immersive and skillful, bringing the grim and decayed world to life. The pacing is well-executed, with secrets unveiled gradually, heightening the stakes with each revelation. The novel adeptly explores the challenges of survival in a world where the scarcity of preserved water sources intensifies power struggles.

In conclusion, "Green Corrosion" is a thought-provoking and socially relevant sci-fi novel that effectively blurs the lines between traditional genres. It offers readers a harrowing glimpse into a world marked by environmental degradation, corruption, and the consequences of unchecked corporate power. The story challenges conventional notions of progress and underscores the delicate balance between technological innovation and ecological sustainability. This novel is a must-read for enthusiasts of science fiction that's both intellectually stimulating and emotionally engaging.

I love love love a good book about the future. If it is a sci-fi and dystopian book, even better! This is one of those books and I loved every page of it! This book is incredibly suspenseful and I had chills as I was reading it. It immediately drew me in and I was ready to tackle the chilling and haunting subject matter. Let's get into more of what the story is all about.

This book takes place in North America. In this time in society, water is running low and people are at each other's throats to get their hands on it. The world has been terrorized by Black Rain and the world's drinking water is disappearing so quickly. The rain actually has started to turn the world's water into a strange gel-like substance. This is why it is impossible for humans to drink it now.

One of the main characters in this book is Geo Woodman. He is ready to take on the challenge to help his clan get the drinking water that they need. He has to get them through horrible conditions in order to save them all. He is met with a lot of obstacles on the way and this is where the book gets really good. There are so many challenges that Geo has to get through and I was on the edge of my seat as he helped his people get to drinking water.

The writing in this book was wonderful and I was hooked immediately to this story. I would love to read more of the author's work because I really was pulled into this book. There were some subtle hints about climate change and global warming. We have seen a lot of these types of books before and even if you think you have read this, you haven't read anything like Green Corrosion. If you love the post-apocalyptic books, you are really going to love this one. I wouldn't steer you in the wrong direction. I would suggest to anyone that loves this genre, you need to read this book. It will make you think about our world today and just what could happen if we do lose our drinking water. It isn’t so far in the future.

Dystopia sci-fi with a purpose...

"Green Corrosion" by Costi Gurgu is a gripping dystopian science fiction novel that delves into the consequences of environmental devastation. The narrative unfolds in a world where the catastrophic Black Rain has turned water into a gel-like substance, making it the planet's most coveted resource. Gurgu's vivid descriptions create a chilling picture of a post-apocalyptic society where grotesque mutations, unsettling creatures, and corrosive water are commonplace.

At the center of the story is Geo Woodman, a complex protagonist navigating power struggles and corruption in the city of Torono. The tension escalates as Geo negotiates with the corrupt ruler Prince Boris, and the mysterious Lady L adds layers of intrigue by unraveling the secrets of the Silker Society. Gurgu's skillful prose brings this decayed world to life, immersing readers in a narrative that explores survival challenges and the intensification of power dynamics in the face of dwindling water sources.

"Green Corrosion" is more than a traditional sci-fi novel; it challenges conventional genres and addresses pressing issues like climate change and sustainable development. Gurgu effectively blends intellectual stimulation with emotional engagement, presenting a socially relevant narrative. The novel prompts readers to ponder the delicate balance between technological innovation and ecological sustainability. Overall, it's a must-read for those seeking a thought-provoking and emotionally engaging science fiction experience.

First in series of dystopian future science fiction.

The author postulates a world where humanity has caused so much pollution that a corrosive rain turns humans into other beings and ultimately becoming ghosts or nightmares. Our hero, Geo, is the envoy to the feudal system from the remaining enclave of scientists who are uncontaminated by living in a hidden cave and having access to a subterranean pure water lake. He is misunderstood and treated with scepticism by his own people and bamboozled and betrayed multiple times by the "corrosives" who inhabit the remains of the city.

There are several plot twists and our hero has several dilemmas of who can be trusted and who can be an ally. He is also faced with a personal choice in a moral situation of determining the greater good. Some dramatic action scenes add to the tension and pace. I admired the hero's resourcefulness and resilience.

We learn the secret of the prince's special power as well as witnessing the brutality of the initiation ceremony for soldiers and leaders amongst the corrosives. There is a side plot where the common people overcome the oppression of corruption. Not the full five stars because there were quite a few editing errors - perhaps understandable where English is not the author's first language - some of which were confusing and changed the sense of the story.

A Gripping Dystopian Novel

Green Corrosion by Costi Gurgu gives us a glimpse into a world ravaged by the consequences of humanity's greed and neglect, leading to near-total environmental degradation. The author immerses us into a bleak world that has been destroyed by something called the Black Rain. Clean water is scarce, forcing people to drink tainted water that causes deformities. Though permanently damaging the body, this liquid often makes them live longer.

As with any society where resources are scarce, power struggles are bound to ensue. We're introduced to Geo, an ambitious young man who fights for the welfare of his people. He faces off against Prince Boris, a corrupt leader seeking to control the few resources available.

Gurgu's worldbuilding is impressive, with vivid descriptions of just how much the world has changed. The story is well-paced, with fleshed-out, likable characters.

In a thought-provoking way, Gurgu paints a world that could easily be our future. He explores themes like climate change, environmental degradation, corruption, politics, and greed and the effect they could have on our planet. This was a solid, thought-provoking read.

Green Corrosion by Costi Gurgu is a compelling dystopian novel with a phenomenal conflict and well-sculpted characters. Gurgu constructs a vivid landscape of devastation wrought by the Black Rain, where clean water is very rare and people can kill just to have water. Geo leads a fight to protect his clan and must face all kinds of enemies and the corruption in the council. But Prince Boris, residing in his imposing Golden Tower, becomes the symbol of the corrupt power structure that exacerbates the chaos. Gurgu’s characters are richly developed, with Geo’s internal conflict and Boris’s ruthless ambition providing compelling emotional depth. The narrative is filled with tension, conspiracy, and action, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. The setting—ruined cities, underground caves, and the towering Golden Tower—paints a haunting picture of a world teetering on the edge of extinction. This masterfully delivered tale had me on the edge of my seat.

Green Corrosion, like so many sci-fi novels coming out in the modern era, tackles the subject of what might happen to the planet in the immediate future. Like the world of Mad Max, water has become a rare resource in the wasteland that author Costi Gurgu envisions. His depiction of what happens to those who drink the contaminated, gelatinous water is the stuff of nightmares.

It adds a disquieting element to a novel that is otherwise straightforward science fiction. Our protagonist, Geo Woodman, serves as this world’s moral compass. Staying with him as he navigates the hostile and treacherous landscape where water is the most precious commodity is harrowing, but also gripping. What emerges is a horror-tinged sci-fi adventure that is all the more compelling because it doesn’t seem farfetched at all.

🤢A really very dark dystopia/science fiction/horror...

Geo looked at the yellow sky which made him sick.
He observed his surroundings while briefly taking stock of a decrepit and sick world.

In his protective suit, he tried to calm down and took deep, deep breaths of this filtered air with putrid odors...

This is my honest and sincere opinion.

I really had a hard time getting hooked on this story which effectively mixed genres: dystopia/fantasy/science fiction and horror, with a universe/world that was literally repulsive, often nauseating.
Everything is very well described thanks to the detailed and precise writing of this author.

I didn't imagine this reading at all when I selected this novel.

I absolutely didn't connect with the main character of Geo.
I didn't like the atmosphere of the book.

For fans of very original and dark dystopias.

First off, absolutely amazing cover! It drew me in right away and really helped me picture what the world I was reading about looked like. Moving on the story itself, it’s a sci-fi story that touches on other genres and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time! The entire premise is following a group of people trying to find drinkable water in a post apocalyptic world. It’s interesting from the very first chapter and is sure to keep your attention easily throughout. I particularly enjoyed the different chapter titles. I liked that they were named instead of generic chapter numbers, it really added to the suspense of the story and made me want to keep reading. If you think you’ve read a story like this before, you probably haven’t, so definitely give it a try!
