8 Keys to Safe Trauma Recovery Workbook

Rate this book
Exercises of healing and transformation for trauma survivors. Drawing from neuroscience and psychotherapy with empowering strategies to take charge of healing from trauma, this workbook follows the theme of each of the eight keys in 8 Keys to Safe Trauma Recovery . The two books complement each other; but it is not necessary to have listened to the original to benefit from this workbook, which presents practical exercises and activities integral to safe trauma recovery and designed to support listeners' control of their mind, body, and life in the aftermath of trauma. One thing is for there is no one-size-fits-all method for healing trauma. This workbook will help listeners identify, assess, and celebrate the resources they already have, and add more resources to their toolbox. Most importantly, the authors do not subscribe to the old motto "no pain, no gain," fostering instead the concept that healing from trauma should not be traumatic.

When you have reason to take a workbook dealing with trauma recovery into your hands, you cannot really go wrong with this one. The two authors are rather careful with their exercises, they are not supposed to be triggering, though I cannot say whether this is true for every survivor who uses this book.

I liked working through the given exercises, the short explanations are useful, and there are several examples of situations when a survivor experiences flashbacks, shame, anxiety, and others, due to trauma. These short scenes are clear and well-written, and I think you might recognize details of your own reactions and behaviours in some of them.
So, for me this is definitely a 5 star book.

Really helpful and easy to implement into my life. All of the information made total sense to me, and the exercises really helped. You can take everything at your own pace and are encouraged to only use the exercises that you find useful for yourself. The mindful gauge was revolutionary to me! Can't recommend it enough to anyone wanting to reduce symptoms of trauma.

The first thing l love is how clear, practical and easy to follow this book is. I have found that people with hyperalert nervous systems, can read books about trauma but the words don't stick. By giving regular exercises and examples this workbook keeps the reader engaged and learning.

Due to all the relatable examples peppered through the book l felt constantly accompanied by Vanessa and Babette. This is an all round useful book on how to replace automatic learnt protective habits with new here and now choices.
