This story is unbelievable. It is astounding to read about all the hurdles the author had to endure throughout her life. Most people can't even pick out Cameroon on a map. Reading this story will tear at your heartstrings, as well as root for her to get through the various issues she faces. Some of the things are unimaginable, but this is the life of many people in developing countries. I will say the main issue I have w/ this book is how there is such an emphasis on god, taken to another level. I find it pretty annoying as a non-religious person. Other than that, go read it.

I can’t recommend this memoir enough. Very personal and raw, it relates the many uncertainties and challenges the author has had to overcome as a woman affected by disability growing up in Cameroon. Against all odds she overcame each obstacle, trusting in God and following him even when the path seemed impossible. I know that Hilda continues to be an inspiration and encouragement to so many, through her story as well as her daily life and faith. Reading her story has been thought provoking and impactful.

This was such an inspiring book. Sad, but really inspiring, her faith and the way God showed up for her time and time again.
Great read.
