Delaney is content--if not happy--living a half-life, until someone tries to assassinate her. When Delaney is rescued by a handsome stranger, Drew seems to be her savior—until she wakes up in his house where he has her daughter and knows far too much about her. The strange sensations she experiences when he’s near might be a warning…maybe he’s the real danger. Fear and anger mix with passion and soon Delaney’s not sure what’s real. Drew doesn’t know how to tell Delaney that she’s his soulmate. He can’t just dump their past on her and expect her to believe him. Not when she doesn’t remember anything about him or the things she’s capable of—but they’re running out of time. Hunters are after her and damned if he’s going to sit idly by and let them capture her. Delaney and Drew work together to help her regain her memories and her ability to control destiny. When sparks fly between them love might conquer all--or it might cause her to end the world.
How do I even begin to describe this one. I guess by admitting that I was extremely skeptical at first. This is my first book by this author so I didn’t know her writing style yet and the book seemed really ambitious to me. There was a lot that she had to not just pull off but pull off well. And boy did she knock it out of the park. I am so glad I took a chance and picked this one up. It was really freaking good.
Definitely a page turner, once I started I was drawn into the world and the characters. I couldn’t put it down because I needed to know what happened next. The way it started was super unique and I loved it. It grasped my attention immediately. You can usually tell if a book is going to be one that’s impossible to put down before you’ve finished it or not within the first line or two and this was for sure one of those books. I loved both characters immediately which isn’t something that always happens with me. And without saying too much because I don’t want to spoil anything but I feel like I need to say that I actually loved the character development and/or changes that occurred it was really awesome. The whole book I was dying to know what had happened to cause the circumstances in the book and what the thoughts were behind the decisions that were made so when we found out I had big expectations and it actually delivered.
The whole book was just awesome. There were sweet moments, sad moments, exhilarating moments, frustrating moments, funny moments, happy moments, shocking moments all the things that you need for a really enjoyable and well rounded book. The world building and portrayal of the I guess more “supernatural” -for lack of a better word- elements of the book were written really well as were the flashbacks and memories. It was really easy to get a feel for the world the characters lived in and understand what made the characters “different” as well as understand their past together in a way that added to the book and them instead of being boring or taking away from the book. So I was really glad about that. In general this was a great read all around that I would definitely recommend to people. I want to read more of them!
Can’t wait for the next book!

*I was given an ARC Copy of this book but writing this review was 100% my choice*
Liv Macy has done it again! Resetting Destiny is a page turner that I could not put down. Delaney is a strong character I was rooting for from the beginning. The author does a great job creating this new universe for her well developed characters. I can’t wait to read more of the Infinites Universe.
I thought that, after getting to know the Infinites Universe in Becoming Justice, this book would have far less mystery and my curiosity would be dwindled. I was wrong.
In this book we're introduced to characters with a whole new set of issues in an ever-growing universe. Every new detail would bring more excitement, so, I obviously failed every time I planned on reading just one more chapter.
Even though we've already been introduced to the unique concept of soulmates in this universe, this book takes it to a new level. The relationship between Delaney and Drew is so rich. It's full of gorgeous moments, but it also has pain and immense bumps on the road. The intricacies of their relationship were excellently portrayed. Even if they were soulmates in a bigger sense than the human standard we're used to, they weren't devoid of conflict and arguments. They had to go through big moral discussions and other matters that seemed impossible to deal with. But still, they would work through their issues, no matter how big they were, and come out stronger.
In the beginning, I was getting mad at Drew for being so condescending and Delaney just accepting it, but I should've known my girl could handle herself. The Infinites Universe has the amazing, strong females we all need.
I really enjoyed the exploration of Drew's moral. I didn't necessarily agree with everything he did, but that was the beauty of it: I might not like some of his actions, not even he did, but his reasons were so understandable, which made it all the more painful and deliciously bittersweet.
The pace of the action is great, but the pace of the thought process is a little rushed, mainly in the beginning. The characters would come to conclusions before I would expect them to. Also, for my taste, the ending was a little rushed too. It was like reading the summary of what happened without actually seeing it happen.
Something I felt was missing is the presence of Kat. I wish she actually appeared in her scenes. I mean, she was there, but she barely talked. Her interactions with the others were glossed over. Once again, we would only get the summaries.
I also wish the visions of the future were more detailed. I think that, if they were, we would get a better picture of the horrors to come and feel even more dread.
And, just as an opinion, it's definitely best to read this after Becoming Justice. If Resetting Destiny was read first, it would be too much information to process before there was any chance to explore the world of the book. In Becoming Justice, we have time to discover the truth before it is revealed. So, even if these books aren't necessarily in order, I would say it is preferable to read them by the order of their publication date.
Needless to say, I absolutely loved this book. All the expectations I put on the author after reading the first installment of the series were met, even surpassed. The plot was more packed, the worldbuilding got bigger and better and the characters were even more captivating. I'm so excited for what's to come.
I thank Hidden Gems for the ARC and I thank the author for writing it.
I won this book from a Goodreads contest (yay!) so this author was new to me. Full disclosure - I’m more a fantasy fan than a romance fan so I was hoping for more of the former.
The first 2/3 of the book is essentially the two main characters talking and we learn their history and backstory through the dialog. It’s very much of the romance genre - a lot of proclamations of undying love by the male (Drew) and internal debate over whether to give in to what she’s feeling by the female (Delaney). The backstory was actually quite interesting - though I wish there was more ‘showing’ of what happened (either through flashbacks or whatnot) rather than Drew just telling her what happened.
The last third of the book is pretty action packed. The full story and history is revealed (kind of, some parts are still vague and a few unanswered questions - unless I just didn’t piece some of it together!) and there are the showdowns between good and evil. I love the location and all the ways in which the house is protected. And the characters are quite great. I wasn’t sold on Drew at first but eventually that turned around. By the last few chapters I was very invested in the secondary characters and bawling my eyes out. Also, there were fun little fantasy tidbits - like have a phoenix in the story. That scene made me smile!
I got through this fairly quickly. I read it in two sittings (a few days apart) and I really enjoyed the fantasy storyline. Once I got to the last few chapters I could not put it down, wanting to see how it turned out. While this is very much a romance book, apart from one or two pretty tame scenes, it’s not overly sexual. It’s more about the vibes and intensity of feelings between them.
While I would have preferred more of the action and less of the romance focus, that’s just my personal preference and not a mark against the book itself.
Thanks to Liv Macy and Goodreads for a copy of this book, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
SOOOOOOOOOO, she has a soulmate but has to kill herself and put her soulmate through EXTREME pain to bring her back over and over again because she basically has foreseen that she needs to BREED with a specific Black man to create a child who will save a species of magical people? Having the FMC have a sexual relationship with anyone other than her soulmate is a choice. Having a Black male character be in the story for the sole purpose of breeding with the FMC is..........CERTAINLY a choice. To be clear we, the readers, don't see this on page and in fact pickup 5 years after she believes her husband is dead. She is a single mother and widow who believes that he was her soulmate because in this particular life she doesn't know about magic, or that she was given love potions or that she has an actual soulmate. The author does a good job of making the FMC and MMC's soulmate bond beautiful, it's clear from the start that whatever connection she thought she shared with her "late" husband and the father of her child pales in comparison and she struggles with the guilt of that (she thought the love was real and that he was her soulmate in the traditional sense until she found out she isn't human, is a Destiny and meets her ACTUAL soulmate and gets back her memories).
The thing that made me rate this lower than I otherwise would have is the breeding partner being a Black man. This is why so many people have critiques of how non-Black, usually white women authors, write about Black people. They oftentimes can't do it in a non-problematic way that doesn't rely heavily on stereotypes, caricatures, dehumanizing tropes, or colorblind racism. You take a Black man who, historically, is overly sexualized and fetishized for his genitalia and make his character's purpose in the story be to BREED with the FMC. ICK!

Soul mates with a twist! This book was intriguing from the start and had me invested in the unfolding mystery and engaging characters. I love a good conspiracy and the world building in this series continues to hold my interest and have me wondering what's coming next. The romantic elements are balanced with action, and the author does a great job of creating buildings that are characters in and of themselves. I liked the plot twist at the end. I'd recommend this book if you enjoy stories with soul mates who share a purpose, and morally-gray, super-protective male MCs who respect boundaries and will do anything for true love.
This book was great! I absolutely love that it follows different characters from the last book! I loved learning about Delaney and Drew's story! I can't wait to see what Kat learns in the future, what a smart little girl!! Having Destiny finally be ready to get all her memories back was probably my favorite part! I like seeing the characters from book 1 meet the characters from book 2 and Delaney is NOT who I thought she was!
I've never read anything like this series. Each book is set for the character so the way it's written, the character's tone and the mannerisms are unique. I love the world Liv Macy has created, and I cannot wait to read about more of these badass characters and learn more about the Infinites!
