A cheesy game of spin the bottle grabs my interest, but it’s the hot guy with sexy piercings and delectable ink who keeps it.
Have I kissed a man before? That’ll be a no.
But I’m definitely interested, and by the way Tiller can’t take his gaze off me, he’s hoping the bottle lands on him.
Spoiler it does.
And holy crap, it’s the hottest kiss I’ve shared with anyone.
Now there’s one slight problem.
That I’m bi isn’t the issue. I’m embracing that new development with eagerness.
It’s the fact that Tiller is my basketball coach’s son that makes my attraction complicated. Add in how Tiller’s joined the coaching team and is instructed to work directly with me, and it’s quite possible there’s going to be nothing regular about this college season.
This book was previously available in the BABE Charity Anthology for three months. This new version is now a full-length novel—doubled in size—with a brand-new conflict, scorching-hot scenes, and more from your loveable Brixham U college basketball team.

This was an absolutely awesome book! It’s my favourite so far in the series! They just keep getting better and better! Leon and Tiller’s story was so much fun and it drew me in from the very first page!
I haven’t read too many coach/student books but teacher/student is one of my favourite tropes for the forbidden aspect. We got a little bit of the forbidden in this story but it doesn’t last long and I feel like they handled it really well and I love how their relationship is dealt with regarding the team.
I also really enjoyed all the glimpses of characters from the first two books. This book takes place after book 1 but simultaneously with book 2 I believe. The way they met seemed a bit juvenile for the one MCs age but it didn’t bother me at all after they met again. Even the breaking the fourth wall I didn’t mind in this book where I did a bit in the others. I really loved the characters and story so I just went along for the ride! Every situation was just written so well regarding a bi-awakening, dealing with their relationship in public, discord on the team and more.
I absolutely recommend this book and the others in this series as well. I can’t wait for the next book with Sammy! It’s one I’ve been waiting for from the very first book!
Tropes: bi-awakening, forced proximity, kind of forbidden relationship Feels: 3.5/5 Steam*: 4/5 Kinks: no Angst: low HEA: yes Pairing: MM Triggers/potential icks/content themes: player/junior coach & Coach's son, cheater ex giving an STI (curable)
Leon is in his last year at college playing basketball. He doesn't intend to go professional. At a party before the school year kicks off he meets a tattooed pierced guy and they share a kiss during spin the bottle. He is Leon's bi-awakening.
Then the guy, Tiller, shows up at practice and Leon realizes that he is the coach's son and he's helping out the team. Tiller graduated 3 years ago and was a top player, he was actually drafted but quit before starting because he realized he didn't want to do it. Tiller had some drama then - he just found out his boyfriend had cheated on him and given him the clap and his boyfriend had been pressuring him about going professional. Tiller traveled for 3 years and now he's come back home to settle and get a job. Leon and Tiller spend a lot of time together. The develop a relationship. Conflict when Tiller is offered a full-time coaching job and they're worried about whether their relationship will be okay with the college.
This was a nice light read. I liked that the guys were so transparent about their feelings. I liked the way Leon talked about his team and loyalty and how he always had his friends and Tiller's back. I liked that the author went there with the STI plot line, you don't see that in many romances and it was handled well, good representation to include that life experience. I liked how supportive the family was. I really laughed at the coach's reaction to hearing his son was dating a player, he had one player in particular he didn't want it to be.
"“But I absolutely would have. It’s going to take a hell of a man who’s good enough for my kid.” And that’s my cue. “About that.” The widening of his eyes shouldn’t be comical, but it’s hard to contain the panic in his expression. “For the love of god, please don’t tell me it’s Tyron.”"
Ha, gulp! "“Well, okay then. Before we sit down to eat, I suppose now is the time to say, Bradford, you break my kid’s heart and you’ll face a feat worse than defeat on the court. By the time I’m done with you, you’ll beg for mer—” “Dad!” “Seriously, Todd.” I swallow and whisper to Tiller, “I think I’ll have that beer now.”"
I liked this statement about loyalty, it wasn't just the fact that he was being protective of his boyfriend. So I like the kind of person he is "“If you want to be here, don’t fuck with us.” “I won’t. I’m sorry. I didn’t even think—” I shake my head, not wanting to hear it. “Sure, the coaches can piss us off sometimes. Hell, so can some of the guys, but we still keep our shit together and have each other’s backs. You stabbed us in ours when you decided to talk shit about not only one of the coaches but my boyfriend.”"
*FYI, I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

This is the third instalment in the Fast Break series and I absolutely adored Leon and Tiller’s story. There is a greater depth to these two wonderful characters in this expanded version of the original novella making them even more loveable. To avoid any perceived problems with Tiller being an assistant coach and Leon a star player, communication is essential to their relationship and they both understand it’s importance. Not something that’s so easily understood in their age group and it does highlight their level of maturity in handling the minor hiccups along the way to their HEA.
This is a very enjoyable and engaging low angst romance with a lovely balance between sweet and heat. I loved how Leon is so laid back in accepting the change in his sexual identity and how it’s a complete non issue to his teammates. What also gave me some feels was the epilogue which made my heart all soft and gooey and left me with the biggest smile on my face.
I LOVE this author. Theres almost no relationship angst. Little drama. Full of good feels.
I just wish they wrote more non-sports/non-collage romance but i love the couples enough to keep coming back even tho it’s not my favorite sub genres 😭
Contains: basketball player and assistant coach/coach son, first-time gay seggs, awakening
Dive in this one and fall over for those characters. I love all the fluff. The group dynamic. Even the drama around the new player adds a touch to the story.
**May contains spoilers**
A college basketball player who has an awakening and decides to take the leap thanks to a childish game and this anonymous stranger who has kept his attention. Except there's a twist on the identity of this man, Coach's son.
If he takes the plunge, will it really be worth it? Can they go further? What will the coach say? And his companions?
And what about the coach's son? Is he hiding something? Why did he disappear for so many years? Why did he refuse to play professionally?
And what now? What their future look like?
All the uncertainty, all the twists, but together, they will discover a connection. Take a chance and grab it.
I love this author. She has the ability to make us smile like a fool all the way through a book. This book appeared in an anthology, and it was without remorse that I asked for more. And more she gave.
This was such a sweet, no-angst book. It's book 3 in the series, but can be read as a standalone. Leon & Tiller were so perfect together, and I loved all the side characters as well. I can't wait for the next book!
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily gave my honest review.
How’d you meet? Oh you know; a game of spin the bottle. I love meet-cutes like this. I know I’m going to be in for a good time when the book starts with fun & games.
Tiller & Leon have instant attraction; even before the bottle forces the issue. What Leon doesn’t know is that Tiller is his coach’s son. Tiller however knows exactly who Leon is. This is the story of how they navigate their connection, attraction and obligations in order to be together.
Three years ago after a devastating reality hits Tiller 3 years ago; he decides to travel the world to find his place in a world that was seemingly trying to force him into a role he didn’t want to play. Leon is entering his senior year and he knows exactly how to be successful. He knows exactly how to accomplish his goals. What he doesn’t know is that he’s bi. Also, it’s awesome to watch him get tongue tied and not be able to control what comes out of his mouth. There are moments of hilarity at the beginning which makes the way their relationship grows something to behold.
All the books in this series are super sweet and I love the way the team is an extended family and how protective they are of each other.
You will enjoy this if you love low angst, sweet heat and humor.
Tiller and Leon are a great match! Well written with good chemistry and great communication. I very much appreciated that the challenges they face were met head on and together - they talked about things like adults. THANK YOU - I love that when it happens!
This book is a good continuation of the series and I'm looking forward to the next!
One thing I found humorous - Leon is referred to as "The Pulse" early in the book in an inner monologue when Tiller first sees him. Then it is literally never used again. NO ONE calls him that in the entire book! Made me chuckle. Seems like the opposite point of a nickname if absolutely no one uses it to refer to you, but ok. I just thought it was funny and kind of strange.
3.5/5 stars.
I received an ARC of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest review.
This story was sweet and hot and definitely worth the read. Leon and Tiller have some insane chemistry and both feel a pull towards the other person that just can’t be ignored. I have to say that the parts told from Leon’s point of view kinda cracked me up with the way he would aside like”you saw that too right?” breaking that fourth wall, especially when Tiller would do or say something schmoopy. He may be a college student but he has a good head on his shoulders. Tiller may not be doing what everyone expects but he is finally living his life his way, instead of what others want or insist on. This was really good and I am gonna have to go back and reread the others in both this series and the “adult” one too. 🥰😉
Was a little too short. Was missing a spicy scene I was anticipating and never got. But over all the plot and characters were great. It completely over laps with book 2 as Ty and Logan's story is unfolding behind closed doors. Also gives another tease to Sammy's book which is next up.
I think this is my favourite book in the series so far! I really hope the current release date for Sammy’s book gets moved up to this year because I need his book as soon as possible!
I’m going to start by saying the one thing I absolutely loved about this story was that from the start, they were dating/boyfriends. There was no “I don’t want a boyfriend” or “ this is just friends with benefits” nonsense and boy, was I here for it!
I loved both Tiller and Leon and together, they were fire! They had amazing chemistry and were sweet and hot together. I really liked that any drama or angst in their relationship came from outside sources and not them. It was refreshing to say the least.
I really enjoyed this read. The ending was especially sweet, but I wasn’t ready for it to end, yet. I wanted to keep reading their story.
This was my first Becca Seymour book, but it definitely won’t be my last! Definitely recommendable!
* Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie for my reading pleasure, a review wasn't a requirement. *
"He kissed a boy and he liked it". When Leon played spin the bottle, he ended up kissing his Coach's son, Tiller who also became his assistant coach. One is gay, one bi-curious and both solidly vested in the relationship. Fully supported by family and the team, they overcome the obstacles and make it work. I like how most of the angst is on the older, more certain of himself one versus the younger team player. And I love how the coach tries to be forbidding but is really a marshmallow. It is a sweet love story. I received a copy of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.
Regular, Smegular was a great addition to the Fast Break series.
It was a fun, low-angst book about Leon, a college basketball player and Tiller, the coach's son who is helping his dad by volunteer coaching for Leon's team. Leon and Tiller meet while playing spin the bottle at a campus party and Leon has no clue that he kissed his coach's son when the bottle landed on him.
I appreciated that Leon didn't freak out at all when he realized he was attracted to another man and the communication between Leon and Tiller was perfect for the situation they were in.
I loved seeing the guys from the first two books, especially Tyrone who is still my favorite series character. I'm looking forward to Sammy's story next!
I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest review.
Becca has done the impossible she has made me love basketball romance books. Leon & Tiller have become my new favorites from this series they are just so chill in being with one another and doing whatever it takes to make it work. They have the type of communication skills that I wish all couples did. These Brixham Bears just keep on proving how much a real team is a family, and they will do anything and everything to protect their family. Job well done and seriously cannot wait for Sammy to find someone to get him as rest of his teammates have.
After reading Ty’s story, I had to get right to this novella to read more from this series about a great group of basketball guys. Leon had not been on my radar, but I loved his book with his coach’s son, Tiller. It is a must read to continue this great series. It featured a complete and appealing story, which is pretty rare for a book of its size. This author has definitely become a must-read author for me!
4.25 stars. That a simple spin-the-bottle game would make such an impact could Leon Bradford never foresee. Kissing the hot guy, and even a guy for the first time, was quite something. Shocking to find out the guy is Tiller and the son of Leon’s basketball coach.
Leon is twenty-two, in his senior year at Brixham U, and wants to make the best of it. With Tiller helping the team, this year will be extraordinary.
After traveling for three years Tiller returns at twenty-five to his hometown and parents home for the time being.. Back then he played too and was even selected, but he choose not to, it got a lot of media attention. Getting the chance to help his dads’ basketball team is wonderful. Especially when he got to help Leon with his game.
They can’t deny the attraction, Tiller is a big flirt and Leon wants to know this hot guy better. Sean’s head is working overtime figuring out what he’s feeling, he had already doubts about being straight, and now he’s thinking about gay things, bi, and other stuff. When Tiller hints to start something, he’s all in, with no restraint. It was awesome to watch them.
Being together is easy, they are totally gone for each other. Hot encounters, easygoing study time, intensive training time, and the feelings they have for each other are super intense. First, they wanted to keep their relationship secret, his dad, the team, and all that. Not ideal but when Tiller got a spot in the coaching team they have to inform the coaches. So far so good, there are some bumps but nothing rough.
The story was entertaining, funny, romantic, and sexy. Both guys are serious about their relationship, they are open about their feelings, talk things through, and that was great. Also awesome to see the characters from previous stories, protective and fun as ever. The writing was well done, it felt like a fresh breath, with a positive view and a good vibe. The epilogue was quite satisfying.
**ARC Review: I was given a free copy in exchange for my honest review.**
This book is a college basketball player and coach’s son, bi-awakening, low angst MM romance. It’s the 3rd book in the Fast Break series but can be read as a standalone.
The premise of this book, that Leon and Tiller meet during a college party game of spin the bottle, caught my attention because it just sounded like such a fun meet cute and also different from a lot of other MM romance books I’ve read.
Leon and Tiller have immediate chemistry from the first time they lay eyes on each other during that infamous spin the bottle game. The kiss they share is the best kiss either of them have ever had. It also confirms for Leon something he has suspected for awhile, that he might not be totally straight. However, Leon then finds out that Tiller is his basketball coach’s son. It’s Leon’s senior year, he's on a championship team, and he doesn’t want anything to mess that up.
Tiller took off out of the country three years ago even though he was the #1 draft pick. I liked the mystery around why he made that choice and in waiting to see what would happen after he’s offered an assistant coaching position on Leon’s team. They’ve already started falling for each other, so not only does he have to come clean to his head coach dad about his relationship with Leon, if he wants to keep him, but Leon has also never had a boyfriend and will have to figure out if he wants to tell his teammates and family.
This book was so sweet in the best way. It was funny and refreshingly low angst. It’s getting 2.5-3 out of 5 on the spice scale. I would have loved a bit more heat, especially since we were teased at the beginning of the book about how Tiller’s got some very fun piercings in interesting places.
If you are looking for a fun, light read that is still spicy, I highly recommend this one when it comes out on 8/9/23!
Attempting to get to my backlog of favorite authors and their newest releases... Here's Becca Seymour's "Regular, Smegular!" It's the third novel in her Fast Break series.
["A cheesy game of spin the bottle grabs my interest, but it’s the hot guy with sexy piercings and delectable ink who keeps it.

Becca is another guaranteed good read. There was some angst with Tiller's past and with their professional relationship. But nothing crazy (and nothing Ty--from "Facts, Smacts"--and the other guys in the house couldn't handle).
The sweetness and the protectiveness, the instant connection and chemistry, the falling in love so easily (the knowing it's more than just lust so easily), the future wanting and the parent meeting and the secret sharing. They made it work with very little angst and no arguments and lots of steam.
Another bandage for my anxiety-ridden and thriller-injured heart. Also, who doesn't love a HEA? Fools, that's who (also, probably the thriller-seekers--at least with murder mysteries, there's (usually) a happy-ish ending).
4.5 Stars Summary: When Leon is invited to join a game of spin the bottle at a party by a sexy guy, he says yes, hoping the bottle lands on sexy guy, even though he’s never kissed a guy before. He’s never been interested before, but he definitely is now. And when it does? It’s the hottest kiss of his life. But things get complicated when sexy guy turns out to be Tiller Maple, Leon’s coach’s son and his team’s new assistant coach.
“But something inside me has snapped. Though I’m far from broken. This right here, with Tiller, finally makes sense. I make sense.”
“And now there’s Leon. Young, talented, and so f***ing eager. But it’s how candid he’s being, talking this sh*t out like he left college years ago, rather than being the senior he is.”
‘“For as long as you’ll have me.” Holy sh*t, please tell me you melted like I did. With Tiller on my lap, I’m a puddle of emotion.’
Review: I just love characters who are open and communicate well, and Leon and Tiller are among the best at this. Leon is very upfront about his feelings, thoughts, and concerns, and Tiller not only loves that about Leon, he reciprocates it. I love how unafraid of being vulnerable with each other they are too. They’re super attracted to each other, but they also want to get to know each other and they’re supportive of each other’s goals and dreams. It’s just lovely, really. Which isn’t to say that the story is without conflict or drama, but it has more to do with outside elements and choices they face. And once again—the epilogue is aces!
Honestly, after reading the first two books, I didn’t really have much of a feel for Leon—I wanted to read this book more because I liked the first two, and I needed to wait until Sammy’s book comes out anyway. But I am so glad I did because I just loved Leon and Tiller so much. They might be my favorite couple from this series—it’s a pretty close to a tie with Logan and Tyron. But I definitely can’t wait for Sammy and Bentley’s story.
This is a low angst, steamy, coach’s son, basketball mm romance. If that’s your cup of tea, this is the brew for you!
This book is supposed to take place concurrently with Facts Schmacts. There are a few times that is clear, but there are other times the events in this story feel like they cannot possibly fit together. Especially since Ty is so integral here in helping to resolve the conflict between Leon and Jones and no hint of Jones’s existence was ever mentioned in book 2. That said, this story had a better plot. The team was a lot more involved, and we got to see both Leon and Tiller interacting with everyone on the Bears team. They are a sweet couple who are easy to root for. Their bedroom scenes are hot but not too frequent.
There were a few things that lowered my score from a 5 star to a 4 star review. First, the pacing felt off. One-fourth of the way through, the two main characters are still talking about wanting to know each other, but we don’t actually get to see them doing so outside of team practice or the bedroom. Second, the voices of the main characters were not particularly distinct. They both think almost exactly the same way, which is evident in the way they both say things like, “Did you notice…” a very clumsy break of the fourth wall. Last, the author is obsessed with having the characters give each other “up-nods.” It happens in nearly every chapter. Until reading this author’s work, I had never heard the term. I can imagine what it might look like, but I don’t think I have ever witnessed one in my 33 years on this planet.
This is the third book in a series but I read it without knowing the first two ones and it absolutely works. I think it has some overlapping timeline with book no. 2 but nothing is missing. Saying that, book 1 + 2 are now downloaded as well.
I am normally not a fan of college age books but I really like Becca Seymour and gave this one a try. And I am really glad.
Leon - caught in a spin the bottle game suddenly realises that he may not be as straight as thought and that his gazing and looking at other guys is not just what everyone does. When he and Tiller are thrown together for extra coaching lessons, a relationship they don't plan on develop.
I like the set-up, it's not a typical coach/student(player) one as Tiller is not a full member of the team. Leon is quite mature for the college boy trope which is a bonus for me.
Both characters have decent depth and are well developed. Tiller's past is well written and his decisions explained. The two work great together and have chemistry. I love the "meet-the-parents" dinner with Tiller's parents. Poor Leon.
The story flows good. While I think the small amount of drama could have been left out, it doesn't create any angst or problems.
Leon's housemates are a great gang and it will be interesting to see what happens with the remaining single friends in the next books.
Tiller is back from travelling, ready to be an assistant coach volunteer with his Dad. Leon is a senior playing for the college team, ready to win a second championship.
They meet at a party, playing spin the bottle, and for Leon, his first kiss with a guy is his best one ever. They start seeing each other, keeping it on the down low, with only Leon’s housemates knowing.
Tiller was a star player himself, but he left the draft for the pros because his ex had pressured him into it, cheated on him, and broke up with him the night before the draft. Things were all wrong, so Tiller left to get himself sorted out. Now, he’s ready for a coaching career, his original dream.
Eventually he’s offered a job with his Dad, so he and Leon declare their relationship. They also have to deal with Jones, an idiot freshman who tries to provoke Leon.
But, their love and support of each other brings them what they both know they want above all else, each other.
Really good plot, sweet characters, with a gruff yet clever Tyron, and fun Sammy and Kieran as supports for this couple, and good parents too!
I received this ARC for free, and am providing my honest review in appreciation.
After reading books 1 & 2 in the series, I was excited to jump into #3, and this one did not disappoint! I loved the immediately open truth and honesty between Leon & Tiller. There's always some light angst when the romance is thought to be forbidden, but I was pleasantly surprised by the reactions from the family and friends, not that I ever really thought otherwise. The higher angst moment involving Tiller's past was a bit difficult to read, simply because it made me want to reach into the book and handle the perpetrator myself. The way the situation was handled though, was excellent and a wonderful use of earlier characters. Both MCs are amazingly great guys, and of course talented basketball players. I was actually surprised there wasn't a one-on-one match between Leon & Tiller, since they both played the same position and would have known some of the same plays and tricks. Loved the continuation of the Fast Break crew, and can't wait for #4 to come next! Recommend to read the books prior to this one first, simply because of all the shared characters in the series, though the book could be read as a standalone.
I’m not a huge fan of sport romance but I had a good time with this one!
It was very low drama and a quick read which makes it the perfect summer read I’d say!
I liked that there was no conflict about Leon’s sexuality. He went on with it without any struggle. And overall there was not much drama it was all very straightforward
I wish we had a bit more details about Leon’s living arrangements (a simple description / layout of their house) and that we got to see the 2 MC fall in love more. It was very insta love with us being told than they hand out more than us seeing them connect. They were really cute together but I couldn’t see why their attraction was so intense. The sex scenes were also simple and vanilla, nothing new or kinky here. I wish we had 1 more scenes.
I got a bit confused with the timeline as well but that might be on me.
I liked the epilogue and the glimpse in their future.
Overall I had a good time. It’s not one I’d reread but I’m curious to read Tyron’s story so I’ll be adding this one to my list :)
Thanks to the author for the ARC. All opinions are my own
The third book of the Fast Break series showcases Leon Bradford’s bi-awakening meet cute with his coaches son- Tiller Maple who has returned after being abroad three years later…
They were inseparable from the first meeting of their eyes to the scorching touching of their lips and tongues in a spin the bottle game…
“Maybe if it was a regular dude I’m meeting up with, I would, but this is Tiller Maple.” “There’s nothing remotely regular about the man.”
I loved their instant connection together with their easy banter and flirting not to mention the scorching bedroom shenanigans - they just fit!
It was aw-inspiring how Leon just accepted he was into men and wanted to try everything with Tiller!
I loved the support and trust they had in each other and in their teammates and friends with malicious people gossiping about Tiller’s past …
A sweet, steamy and funny low angst romance to lighten up your day!
I look forward to Sammy’s story next!
I voluntarily received an ARC from GRR for an honest non biased review.
I became intrigued by Leon earlier in the series and couldn’t wait to see his story unfold. This book did not disappoint me. It is a wonderful addition to the series and I really enjoyed catching up with this group of guys. I adore them more and more with every book.
Leon and Tiller are great together. The author did a great job of making me feel like I knew Tiller, even though I just met him. It is in keeping with the other characters in this series, who are all well-written. The series friendship, love, and humor continue in this book, along with a bit of drama. In addition to the love these characters exhibit, it warms my heart to see loving, supportive families.
This just might be my favorite book in the series, and I really enjoyed the first two. Perhaps because I get to hang out with all the characters again and add more to the mix. This is just a beautiful story, with a beautiful epilogue that had me laughing and smiling.
A game of spin the bottle sparks a serious combustion between Tiller and Leon. Their feelings were engaged from the beginning with very little doubt as to where they were headed.
Leon’s realization that he might not be straight was well done. While there was some angst for him, it was more about the perceptions of his friends and teammates, not his sexuality. I thought the progression of their relationship was nicely done. Teammate drama added a bit of angst also. I liked that the team (that was basically family) stood behind them.
I like this author and will always grab their books.
(I don’t believe the coach/student trope really applies to this book. They were already in an established relationship before Tiller could of possibly influenced Leon’s placement on the team).

Regular, Smegular! is a sweet, low angst read with high steam and great chemistry. This is the third instalment in the Fast Break series and I loved Leon and Tiller’s story. This is a sweet, sexy romance with little angst.
Leon and Tiller have some insane chemistry and both feel a pull towards the other person that just can’t be ignored. I loved seeing the guys from the first two books, especially Tyrone who is still my favorite series character. I'm looking forward to Sammy's story next!
