Sabrina Bolton would do anything to please her mother--even if it meant sacrificing her own happiness by encouraging the courtship of Lon Jasper. When she kissed the arrogant cavalry captain, she didn't feel the butterflies her friend Carrie had insisted were a sign of true love. All she could think of was Tremayne, the handsome, green-eyed scout who had been hired to help secure peace with the Apaches. But Sabrina knew that desiring a man like Tremayne could turn her world upside down...
Raised as an Apache after his parents were brutally killed, Tremayne felt more Indian than white. And when his Apache wife was killed by a U.S. army soldier, his distrust of the white man only grew...until he met Sabrina, a woman whose porcelain-skinned beauty was matched by her gentle spirit. Tremayne knew Sabrina was as forbidden to him as he was to her. But now an overwhelming passion has bound them together, and Tremayne and Sabrina must find the strength to build a bridge between their worlds if they ever hope to embrace the chance of a lifetime.
Vivian Vaughan is the granddaughter of Texas ranchers and Texas Rangers. She grew up on the western edge of the Edwards Plateau, where there has always been a scarcity of water and grass – and an abundance of self-reliance, a place where people don’t take themselves too seriously and laughter comes naturally. Vaughan’s books reflect her love of the land, the people and their stories. Vivian lives in Houston, Texas, with her husband of fifty-four years, a retired NASA engineer. Their two sons, two lovely daughters-in-law (one from England; the other Mexico) and five of their 6 grandchildren live nearby.
I have mixed feelings about this book. There were parts of it I enjoyed and others that felt drawn out and a little boring. It's a shame because I think it had the potential to be a five star read for me, it just didn't hold my interest.
Had I seen this cover for the book, then I would certainly not have downloaded it. I dnf'd early on when the story became too confusing for me. Not rating.
