About the author

As the author of books on embroidery design, the progression in 1994 from fact to fiction was perhaps less daunting for Juliet than it might have been for a complete beginner. But in many ways, the requirements are similar: a strong imagination and sense of design; an eye for detail; a love of color, scenery, and research; and a willingness to share inner thoughts and feelings with readers. Dedication is also useful to Juliet, living in the country, as the temptation to spend time picnicking and sightseeing instead of writing is sometimes very strong.

3,5- Trattandosi di un’autrice che non ero riuscita ad apprezzare al primo tentativo, si è rivelata una lettura più interessante del previsto.
Per carità, c’è un personaggio maschile prevaricatore e detestabile, e la nostra eroina si stende a zerbino il tempo di una passeggiata nel bosco e di due discussioni su confini e servi, cedendo a un ricatto che risultava fasullo a colpo d’occhio… però siamo comunque nel XIV secolo, in un regno inglese diviso in tante baronie tumultuose, e lady Alina è una ex-sposa bambina, abusata e battuta in continuazione dal defunto marito, attualmente una vedova che resiste a nuove nozze solo perché i vicini non si sono ancora presi la tenuta con la forza.
Quindi, nel complesso, la trama ha una sua coerenza e Alina ha un destino “romantico “ anche se sposarsi e cedere l’amministrazione a un nuovo marito-signore non era esattamente la sua prima scelta.

Domineering a hole knight bullies and browbeats a kind hearted widow into being his fancy piece - it's obvious form the get-go he's madly madly in love with her and around all the pushing her about he's actually rather lovely and very sweet. He also fucks up big time, and grovels hard. Really enjoyable.
