I'm a former TV news anchor who know writes fiction for a living. I publish collections of sweet, sassy romantic short stories called Flirts! Bell Bridge books is publishing my Willowdale Romance Series. No Foolin' debuts November 25, 2012.
I saved this collection so that I could read it during the Holiday Season. Interestingly, it didn't quite offer up the amount of Christmas cheer I was expecting. Each story is touched with a hint or more of sadness that doesn't completely go away even as the couples share happiness together at the end. The last story, however, was the best and the brightest. Like with the first set, Flirts!, the connections between the stories were strong, with references to a few of the couples and Saveland throughout the collection.
1. Spooked by Love - 3 stars 2. Holiday Rush - 4 stars 3. Missing Christmas - 5 stars 4. Tingle All the Way - 3 stars 5. Giving Up Guys - 5 stars
Holiday Stories! They are fun, adorable and you can't help but love them. This novella collection consist of stories that take place from Halloween to New Years' Eve. They are perfect for the holiday season where you can enjoy them with a cup of hot chocolate :) The collection follows 20 something main characters who fall in love. The characters and romance in each story are all unique and different and you can't help but get hooked! They are light quick reads and give you the same feels that you get watching Holiday rom-com movies!
My individual ratings: Spooked by Love 5/5 Holiday Rush 5/5 Missing Christmas 5/5 Tingle All The Day 5/5 Giving Up guys 5/5
If you are in a reading slump or need a quick lighthearted read that will keep you invested 'til the end, I recommend any of Lisa Scott's collections. :) If you generally don't like shorts, I recommend sampling Lisa's writing first.
**Although each of the 5 stories can be read and purchased as standalones I personally enjoy them more when I read all 5 of them back to back because the stories and characters are interconnected in some way.** (less)
Marnie James has been divorced for a short time and don’t want to be dumped again so she never been on a date after being single again. But everything changes when she meets a hot single daddy at her daughter’s Halloween party.
But there’s a catch, he’s only looking for fun! So while starting a new carrier she discover that have a date can be fun, especially after they keep meeting on different places at all time.
Very fun story that shows all the perks for going out after a disappointment.
Holiday Rush
Lindy Richards is trying to be all glamorous in her life, she has the perfect job as a manger on a chick boutique, but when her tights suffered a disaster encounter with the car door, she decided to jump on Save Land for a quick exchange and continue on her way to a blind date.
There’s a problem, she caught stuck on the changing room after closing time and worst of all, since she never managed to show on her date neither at home, her roommate called the police as missing person.
but when she was found on Save Land everything on her life changed upside down and I was really sad for her, but Lindy is very strong and managed to make the best of it all.
Missing Christmas
Ginny is starting to feel homesick after moving from her family home with her boyfriend for another state. Everything is great for him, but she doesn’t have a job yet and is really boring stay at home on Christmas.
Her family has a Christmas tradition and for her to miss everything and stay home alone is even harder. Her boyfriend is great and was so sweet and understanding with her that makes this a sad and sweet story.
When he made the perfect Christmas for her and tried to make her see that everything could be perfect if they learned to change some habits.
Tingle All The Way
Jessica lost her mother close to Christmas when she was no more than a baby and after that everything was different. Her father didn't celebrate so she never really bought all those happy memories that her friends speak about. But when a stranger trying to break in her neighbor window Christmas Eve and Jessica finds herself stuck with strange feelings toward a kids beliefs on Santa Klaus.
I liked this story especially because Jessica is Lindy’s sister (from Holiday Rush) and when can two different POVs from the same memory. Also the stranger helped a lot on Jessica search for the perfect Christmas.
Giving Up Guys
This story is about a group of friends, actually Ginny friends (from Missing Christmas). There are three girls tired from guys and their bad relationships so on New Years Eve they made a promise to don’t have a date until Valentines Day. To make all more easier they also decided to learn new things.
So Claire decides to learn Scuba diving but after a few lessons she gets dumped from class for not knowing how to properly swim and takes consolation on a bar. Every week she goes and meet a sweet bartender.
Lori takes upholstery class and suddenly finds herself with feelings for the sexy teacher, so they start to date, even if is “against” the rules. He doesn’t know about the promise.
Harper takes the easy way and joins belly dancing class, since no man ever learns this, she finds it easier than everything else, but what she doesn’t know is that this time there’s a man in class, because of a bet. And they started some private lessons, but no dates, because he knew about the promise.
The best part is when the girls meet on Valentines. Best story of the book for me.
Holiday Flirts! By Lisa Scott 5 Romantic Short Stories Spooked By Love For Marnie James the scariest thing this Halloween for her is considering dating again. When she meets Jeff Williams at a Halloween party her daughter went to, she has to decide if she's willing to date again. Is there a ghost of a chance or will she be too spooked to try?
Holiday Rush Lindy Richards loved her fancy clothes and the chic shop she managed. She also loved Christmas. One night a ripped pair of tights changed her life.
Alexander Whitney was managing one of the Save Land stores for his dad. Bidding his time before he could move on to a different city. When there was an emergency involving his store parking lot life got a lot more interesting.
Missing Christmas Ginny McDonald had told her family she'd be moving from New York to Florida in the first story, Spooked By Love. She was in love with Ryan and his job had him moving. Now it's a few days before Christmas and she's homesick. She misses her family, decorating and snow. And Florida's sunshine didn't have anything Christmas about it. She wanted to go home and there was nothing that Ryan could say or do to changer her mind. Or was there?
Living in Arizona I could fully relate to this story. Away from family and looking at a cactus with lights and Santa hats is far from a Midwest Christmas.
Tingle All The Way Jessica Richards didn't have the memory of any great Christmas or her sister Lindy's excitement over the holiday. When she called the police on a would be robber, she just ended up ruining a little girls Christmas. Every thing she tried to make it up to Morgan just ended up in a bigger mess.
Charlie Grant was watching his niece and wanted to give her the best Christmas ever. The nosy neighbor ruined that idea. The more the woman tried to make things right...the more he was intrigued with her. Maybe he would have the best Christmas ever.
Giving Up Guys Three of Ginny's friends were out celebrating New Years Eve when they decided they would give up guys for a month. Ginny and Ryan seemed happy in Florida, but Lori, Claire and Harper seemed to be finding only duds when it came to men.
Lori takes an upholstery class and her resolve for no guys is on shaky ground when the Tom Murphy, the instructor, turns out to be an uber-hottie.
Harper Reese figures she's safe from men when she takes a belly dancing class. Figures that handsome Patrick Dunn is a student too.
Claire Pennington signs up for scuba diving classes, forgetting how she's not fond of swimming. After class she finds a friend in bartender Nate Johnson.
As always Lisa Scott finds a unique way to end the book with a glimpse at the previous couples who met in the other four stories.
I really enjoy the Flirt! stories. They are fairly short and quick reads and I enjoy the way the author integrates the characters from one story into another. At times it's something little like one character just popping in on the story and other times it's the friend or relatives story. And there are usually little quirks that add the humor. http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...

The stories included: Spooked by Love 2.5 stars A Halloween romance with some cute banter. The heroine was divorced but her emotions about her ex didn't ring true because she was the one who ended it, and it was too easy to guess that the hero was widowed. I think this needed to be longer to do it justice.
Holiday Rush 2.5 stars Too much emphasis on clothes for my taste.
Missing Christmas
Tingle All The Way 3 stars meet cute on Christmas eve when the heroine thinks the neighbor's brother is robbing the neighbor's house. Heroine is the sister of the heroine in Holiday Rush.
Spooked by Love, was cute. I really enjoyed "Officer Hottie". Though Marnie is a great character too, a very strong female. (3/5) Holiday Rush, was cool with a little murder-mystery to stir things up. It was nice to see my favorite officer make a reappearance. (4/5) Missing Christmas, was alright. I really liked Ryan, and finding the connection to the last story which was Marnie and the flower shop. Glad the story turned out the way it did too, I was worried for a while. (3/5) Tingle All the Way, had me laughing out loud. That reporter is hilarious! (3.5/5) and Giving Up Guys, was a really great idea. Now if only it could actually be done. Too bad you can put time on love, so you'll never know when it will arrive. A fun read though. (4/5)
In Spooked by Love Marnie and Jeff meet at a kids halloween party.
Holiday Rush is where Lindy got stuck in a dressing room at Save Land. I had read this ebook separately. You can read my review here.
Missing Christmas Ginny thinks she made a big mistake moving to Florida to be with Ryan.
Tingle All The Way Christmas is just another day for Lindy's sister, Jessica, until she ruins her neighbors' brother's plan to surprise his niece on christmas. Out of all the stories this one made me laugh at least
Giving Up Guys I quit reading a few pages into the last story. It was blech.
Loved everything in this collection except for the first story, because it seems to be the weakest one in the series and the story barely blended in with the rest of the stories ion the collection.
My favorite story is Holiday Rush , because from start to finish this story was a such a blast that it felt so short that the novella has ended .
A great holiday themed series of short and unique romances. You can read my full review on my blog here http://lisa.voidcast.ca/?p=30153. Another amazing anthology from Lisa Scott
