As Adam lay his palm flat against the table Miranda searched his face for signs of deception, a subtle break in the cool demeanor, but found nothing more than the calm gaze of steely blue eyes. His request was simple enough but the circumstances of their meeting fosters doubt. He’s hiding something. Ignoring the concern she complies. What happened next causes an icy chill to shoot down her spine. Her heart pounding and mind racing, Miranda struggles to understand. Could she trust even her own senses while witnessing the impossible? Despite her formidable intellect, nothing could have prepared Miranda for their meeting. His discovery would rock the very foundations of the laws of physics, but she has doubts and suspects an elaborate hoax. As Miranda searches for answers troublesome new questions arise when she notices inconsistencies in Adam’s persona. Despite her suspicions, and best efforts to resist his charms, Miranda finds herself falling for the mysterious stranger. BUT ADAM JAMES IS NOT WHO HE PRETENDS TO BE . . .
What a wonderful, book, I absolutely loved it, it surprised me totally as I had no idea what it was all about but it is one of my this years favourites so far. It is a thrilling, exciting fast paced novel mixed with a little politics and just enough intellect to learn a little physics without it being over the top, the parts where physics are discussed are clear and precise and I found no difficulty in understanding it. It was impossible to put down and I finished it in one sitting, staying up until late one night, the characters are superb with just the right amount of goodies and baddies, romance and politics.
Adam is my favourite character, he is clever, handsome and of course seems to have unlimited money, your all time hero who is also battling from a bad experience in the past. Miranda the other main character is also great, struggling to do a PhD with a full scholarship and a difficult professors.
My best part of the novel were the descriptions of the tests with Adam. But on the whole there was no favourite part, it was all superb.
I can´t find a worst part, I loved it all.
I would not hesitate to recommend this book to anyone interested in thrillers with a bit of a twist.
I give this book 5 stars the first book I have given 5 stars to so far.
I will most definitively read a sequel, can´t wait until it comes out.
page 308 there is a spelling mistake “bellow” instead of below.
Adam walks into the physics department asking Miranda for help. He catches her attention when he begins to levitate a pen with his mind. He is there looking for answers, but only as long as he remains completely anonymous. Miranda can’t help but like and trust Adam but she knows he is hiding something. Soon they find themselves in over their heads and in battle for the right to survive. “The String Theory (Volume 1)” is Geoffrey T. Hudson’s new debut thriller.
Hudson is an engaging writer. His character development is respectable. Everyone likes Adam, even though you know he is hiding his past from everyone he knows, including the woman he loves. Miranda is engaging and intelligent. I enjoyed that the novel has a splash of physics and science included within the storyline.
The plot was decent, though the climax and mystery ended up being less then I was hoping for or expecting. Hudson spends a good portion of the novel building up the mystery behind Adam’s past. However when I found out the story I was disappointed. It was a letdown in the end. He’s a good writer, and with a little practice his thriller novels are going to keep readers up at night.
“The String Theory” is a worthwhile and engaging read. It will keep you entertained till the end.
**I received this novel through Goodreads First Reads. This in no way influenced my review.**
Wow, I REALLY enjoyed this book. I simply could not put it down. As I stated before, it is not a particularly complex read but it is an exhilarating adventure that actual made my heart pound as I consumed it in a couple of days.
I failed physics in high school but I still liked this book. Miranda and Adam = extremely likable protagonists. The struggles they go through are mostly all relate able to students. Students would really enjoy this book. Can't wait for the second one! Hopefully it's as thrilling as this one.
