A runaway bride is on her honeymoon—and hilariously off-the-hook—in this irresistible romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Cindi Madsen… Imogen Kaplan may be a runaway bride, but she’s determined to take her “honeymoon” at a luxury wilderness resort, even if she is surrounded by annoyingly mushy couples. No husband. No happily-ever-after. Just trees, bugs, and one very grouchy, mouthwateringly fit, and—let’s just admit it—unfairly gorgeous guide who’s shown up to take her fishing at Nope O’Clock in the morning… Easton Reeves is pretty sure that Hell looks a lot like Honeymoon Week. It’s over-the-top romantic crap as far as the eye can see—everything a guy who’s been dumped at the altar wants to avoid. And now he’s supposed to teach this cute, smart-mouthed little city pixie how to fly fish? I’ll be lucky to escape without a hook in my ear . Now it’s like fate keeps throwing them—the two people least interested in romance—together at a resort that’s all about the love. Sparks are not supposed to happen, let alone the temptation to kiss each other senseless. But it’s one thing to get hooked on sizzling chemistry…and quite another to turn a sexy little fling into real life.

DNF @ 19%. I enjoyed the other books in this series and had initially been excited for this book. However, I have tried to read it so many times and I just can't get into it. I don't really care for the female main character and even though I liked the male lead in the past books, he wasn't enough to make me want to keep reading.
Imogen is on her honeymoon, alone, after deciding (correctly as far as I am concerned) that a relationship without a spark isn't one she should stay in and calling off her wedding.
Easton is working at the resort to avoid being in his small home town in the week up to the wedding of his high school sweetheart...who left him at the altar.
Needless to say, neither of them are really looking for romance, or even a connection, with anyone...so their attraction to one another is a bit of a surprise.
The initial attraction really worked, and this is a slow burn which makes sense for the characters and where they are in their emotional journeys when we meet them.
The part that didn't totally work for me was the connection between them when they were officially together, it seemed really quick and like it was missing some of the zing and the spark. And, I thought the end and the way it was resolved was a little quick.
While I know this isn't the story the author was telling, but I think this one would have worked better if their relationship happened over more than a week, as I kept getting stuck on how recently Imogen split with her ex and wondering if I believed in their long term connection.
I did enjoy this overall, and I did like the characters, so I can say I enjoyed and recommend this title.
I received a free copy through the author in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.
4 stars — I can always count on Ms. Madsen to deliver fun characters, with a good amount of sass and just enough depth to keep me interested and invested.
Easton was pretty grumpy to begin with, but at least I could somewhat understand how he’d become jaded, and how the circumstances around Imogen just hit some painful buttons. It was interesting to watch him let himself have fun with her, and when he let his guard down you could see a bit of a softy underneath…just someone who was wary about having his dreams taken away again.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to like Imogen, because we get her story a little bit in pieces at the beginning. It doesn’t drag out too long, but I kind of would have appreciated the whole story earlier so I could understand how she got to where she was…and I could invest in her more, especially given she’s only a month from the end of a long relationship. Otherwise it just feels…like how can I trust her feelings you know? She had her own set of scars from her relationship, and having let herself make more of the compromises on who she was. Sometimes I felt like she was jumbled enough in her thoughts that I couldn’t always get a good read on who she was and what she wanted in life. Like, I understood her hurts, but what did she want out of life? We get hints of her passions, but I wish we’d gotten a bit more depth from that.
It was fun to watch them sass each other right from the start. It definitely had an almost enemies to lovers feel, b/c they did not start off enamoured by one another. Maybe intrigued, but definitely rubbing each other the wrong way. But it was pretty satisfying when they started to play at togetherness, and to see them become more and more intrigued by the other. I definitely felt their chemistry, right down to the steam. I think the set up for the story was all just a bit fast…but sometimes that happens. It’s a personal taste thing.
It was nice to see the gang again, and there were some other fun secondary characters (hello Margot and Constance). And I can’t not mention Gator…what a good girl.
I might not have loved it as much as the first 2 books, but I’m in a weird mood so it’ll definitely be a series I come back to sometime in the future when I need a guaranteed mood booster.
Catch and Release Groom by Cindi Madsen is a lighthearted and entertaining contemporary romance novel that will leave readers with a warm and fuzzy feeling. Packed with humor, swoon-worthy moments, and a delightful cast of characters, this book takes readers on a journey of love, self-discovery, and unexpected surprises.
When it comes to violence, Catch and Release Groom maintains a low level of intensity. The story focuses on the romantic relationship between the main characters and their personal growth rather than physical conflict. Any instances of violence are mild and not overly graphic, making it suitable for readers who prefer books with minimal violence.
In terms of sexual content, this novel falls into the moderately steamy category. Cindi Madsen crafts a sensual and passionate romance between the main characters, exploring their physical and emotional connection. While explicit sexual scenes are present, they are handled with care and sensibility, providing a balance between romance and sensuality. Readers who enjoy a moderate level of sexual content in their romance novels will appreciate this aspect.
Profanity in Catch and Release Groom is present to a moderate degree. The author includes occasional instances of mild profanity that add to the authenticity of the characters' dialogue. While it may not be excessive, readers who prefer books with minimal profanity may want to take note.
Alcohol use is relatively prevalent throughout the story. The characters partake in social drinking and occasional bar scenes. While excessive or problematic drinking is not glorified, alcohol is a recurring element.
Overall, Catch and Release Groom by Cindi Madsen is a fun and heartwarming contemporary romance novel that offers an enjoyable escape into a world of love and laughter. With its low levels of violence, moderately steamy sexual content, and moderate profanity the book caters to readers who appreciate a light-hearted and engaging romance with just the right amount of spice.
Note: This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased opinion.
Catch and Release Groom lived up to all my expectations. I have been waiting for this final book in the Getting Hitched in Dixie series FOREVER. (Or at least since 2019, which feels like forever with how the past few years have played out.) I couldn't have imagined a more fun or better romance for Easton.
Being back in the gossip filled small town of Uncertainty, Alabama was fun. I loved added setting of the resort where Imogen is staying on her honeymoon for one and Easton is working a side job. It was a great place for them to meet and interact. The resort itself felt like a character with its over the top honeymoon packages.
Easton, our final single friend in the Getting Hitched in Dixie series, is a little grumpy. He has every right to be after being left at the alter by his high school sweetheart and now having to be around all of the honeymoon stuff at the resort.
Imogen is a runaway bride for reasons. She knew she couldn't marry her childhood sweetheart, but she hadn't imagined going on her honeymoon alone. She's determined to figure out her new life on this trip, even if it's lonely.
Easton and Imogen don't exactly hit it off at first. There's attraction, but there is also annoyance. These two can't decide if they want to throttle each other or find a bed. This makes the agreement to be in a fake relationship all the more fun. I loved how they got to know each other and how their chemistry brought them even closer together. Oh, and I loved how Easton's dog fit into it as well.
This wouldn't be a Getting Hitched in Dixie book without wonderful side characters. Addie, Tucker, Shep, Ford, and a bunch of other people were there to add some extra fun. I loved seeing the support there for Easton, and Imogen as well.
I'm so happy I finally got to read Catch and Release Groom. It was well worth the wait.

I struggled to get into this one. It felt like barely anything happened a quarter way thru, then it just took off for me. I ended up enjoying it much more than I thought, by the way it started. I read Just One of the Groomsmen, which I loved, but I missed book #2, so with some of the poker talk, I felt a little left out. I'm glad I stuck it out, and will continue the series, if more books come about. I definitely want to go back and read the book I missed. I loved how this ended, it was just so sweet and perfect.
After reading the description I was immediately interested in reading this book! It promised to be fun and flirty, and it did not disappoint! Some of the pacing for the plot was a little off, but it did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. Overall, a quick read for someone looking to read a fun romance story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I have read and enjoyed the other books in this series, but I found this one to jump around and it didn’t hold my attention like the others. I liked the characters and connected to both Imogen and Easton, but found myself having to go back several pages to try and follow what was going on in the plot.
There is nothing better to lighten your heart than a Cindi Madsen RomCom. Be prepared to laugh hard at the circumstances she crafts for her characters. Plus, who doesn’t love a little grumpy/sunshine set in country? Easton and Imogen will make you swoon!
The heroine decided to call off her wedding and go to her "honeymoon" at a luxury wilderness resort by her lonesome self. She meets the hero when he woke her up for a fishing lesson that she had signed up for as part of the "honeymoon" experience. The hero had been dumped at the altar in the past and is a grouch during the "Honeymoon Week" where his side gig is located. The hero and the heroine may not have hit it off quite well, but there is definitely an underlying attraction between them. As time passed by, will the hero and the heroine have a happy ending of their own when their pasts have such a strong hold in their views of love?
This is the third book in the GETTING HITCHED series by Cindi Madsen. Though the story focused on a main couple, the appearances of secondary characters from previous books enriched the book. The book can be read by itself, but for a better view of the series, the series should be read in order. Along with the human characters, the series have animal companions that makes each book an entertaining read. The romance may be quick in this book, but it works in the sense that the beginning of the couple's relationship began in a setting that said romance would have not been a normal one anyway. I would have enjoyed some more details in the story that would have given the story the finishing touch in my eyes. However, even my personal preference for more details wasn't a detriment to my enjoyment of the book. The author has a writing style that I enjoy, and I look forward to reading more Cindi Madsen books in the future.

Easton Reeves has sworn off romance ever since he was abandoned at the altar by his high school love. Juggling roles as a sheriff, search and rescue worker, and fly fishing instructor, he aspires to run a tackle store and lead fly fishing trips full time. Everything changes when he meets Imogen Kaplan while providing a fly fishing lesson. Intended to be on her honeymoon, Imogen called off her wedding a month prior. However, having already booked the "Honeymoon Package," she decides to experience it solo. When their paths cross, Easton immediately feels she's going to be a handful. As Imogen realizes she's the only single person among couples, she strikes a deal with Easton: he pretends to be her spouse during the events, and in exchange, she'll be his plus-one at his ex-fiancée's wedding. Both Imogen and Easton, entertaining characters with trust issues, enjoy challenging each other. Though neither seeks love or commitment, destiny might have other ideas. Their evolving relationship and playful banter are a delight to witness.
I enjoyed this light-hearted read, especially the lively exchanges between Imogen and Easton. Easton, with his endearing grumpiness, was a treat. We learn about Imogen's background in fragments, which sometimes made it hard to connect with her. The story's pacing seemed uneven at times. Nonetheless, it was an entertaining read overall. I particularly liked Easton's close-knit group of friends and their unwavering support for one another.
Thank you to Netgalley for this book. I really enjoyed this small town romance. Our main character Imogen has called off her wedding a month before the date and decides to go on her honeymoon by herself until she finds out she booked the trip during a newlyweds weekend. Her first day there she meets the local fisherman that ends up taking her fly fishing. As soon as they get there after Imogen hastened on her clothes, they get to the lake and the fisherman gets a lew stuck in his ear. Imogen and him decide to help each other out, he is Imogen's husband and Imogen is his plus one at the wedding of his ex fiance that left him at the later. They start to fall in love with each other and Imogen and him have a huge fight when he goes to his ex on her wedding day after she calls. He realizes his mistake and follows Imogen back to her home and surprises her with a trip to Italy. A month after they return to where they fell in love, him and Imogen start a business with her making ceramics with nature in them, and him giving fishing expeditions. It was such a sweet book and I hope there is another book after this one. You truly fall in love with the characters.
ENG: It breaks my heart to give a Cindi Madsen book just 2-stars. Sadly, I couldn't fully enjoy this one. My main issue was the pacing. It felt like we kept jumping from one thing to the next. And many interactions felt "incomplete". Easton and Imogen were all right but didn't captivate me like Addie and Tucker did. In fact, I'm contemplating going back to book 1 for a re-read.
Imogen decides to cancel her wedding, but still takes the honeymoon trip she paid for. The first morning there she forgot she scheduled fly fishing lessons. Easton shows up to give fly fishing lessons and can't believe it is just Imogen. Easton isn't looking forward to working at the resort this week, since it is honeymoon week. These two don't seem to get along, When Imogen gets stuck on the lake Easton comes to her rescue. Easton devises a plan to help Imogen get through all the honeymoon activities and gets him a date to his ex's wedding. These two realize that they are attracted to each other. They both realize that there are good people out there not like their ex's. This was a really good book!! I had a hard time putting it down! Loved this series!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this rom com of enemies to lovers. Imogen is a runaway bride but still wants to take her honeymoon by herself to a wilderness resort where she meets Easton. Easton was left at the alter a few years ago and works at the resort as a fishing guide. They do not hit it off at first but sparks do fly eventually. Imogen does agree to become his plus one at his former fiance's wedding. They do share a sizzling chemistry, is it a fling or can it be forever.
Loved these characters, their banter will have you laughing out loud. This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.
4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this story. Great banter and characters. It was nice to get back into this series, and see old characters (though our time with the old crew is pretty minimal). Overall, very good. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.
I loved Catch and Release Groom, although I did not read the other books in this series.
Imogen is a runaway bride who broke off her engagement because she knew it would have been a mistake to marry her childhood sweetheart. She did not expect to go on her honeymoon alone after giving up on her dream honeymoon in Rome. She's determined to figure out her new life post-breakup while on this trip.
Easton is jilted groom who still has a lot of resentment about being left at the altar, leading him to judge Imogen harshly at first. When they first meet, they don't exactly hit it off. They are both attracted to each other, but there is also a lot of annoyance there. They can't decide whether they want to throttle each other or find the nearest bed. That makes their agreement to be in a fake relationship extremely fun. I loved the slow burn of them getting to know each other and seeing past their preconceived notions about each other. Easton's puppy Gator was soo cute throughout the whole book.
I liked Easton's friend group and how supportive they were throughout the book, and they were not afraid to call him on his bs.
The one thing that irked me was that I would have loved to get a bit more time focused on the resolution. Easton plans his grand gesture with a few of Imogen's friends, and I would have loved to get a bit of him discussing this plan with his friends or even her friends. I would have liked Imogen not immediately to accept his apology without a bit of pushback. She was working on standing up for herself for the whole book, only for her to cave at the end.
Overall I loved the book, and I want to thank Turn the Page Tours and Entangled Publishing for providing me with an ARC copy of this book for my honest review.
Catch and Release Groom by Cindi Madsen is the third installment in the Getting Hitched series.
Why should you read this?
✔ Spicy Slow burn that Scorches ✔ Runaway Bride who heads to the outdoors ✔ Enemies to Lovers ✔ Fun, flirty, & memorable laugh-out-loud moments ✔ Sexy innuendos ✔ Fly fishing ✔ No regrets ✔ Dog named Gator
What was supposed to be a blissful, romantic week celebrating with her new husband is now focused on finding her purpose. Discovering what to do next.
An early morning Fly Fishing excursion without her "husband" means time alone with her guide. Will Imogen be able to resist his charm ;)?
Hopefully after a week channeling her inner outdoors goddess, she'll be more open-minded and have a true handle on figuring out exactly what she wants and needs.
Easton Reeves is enjoying his side hustle as a fly fishing instructor the resort "Honeymoon Week" when he realizes that he's about to be challenged in more ways than he ever imagined. A hero who also knows all too well the heartbreak and pain Imogen is feeling, but will he understand her reasons why?
When Easton needs a plus one, he'll make a deal with Imogen so they can both survive their week. Who will get a bite, and who will be left with an empty hook?
☕ 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Caution, this scorchin hot read may lead to unexpected need to turn on the A/C.
So steamy the pages ignite. May include a dash of Erotic elements or elude to further exploration of desire and need. I love stories where the unexpected moments make you laugh, cry, cheer, and applaud the characters on their journey.
Thank you Turn the Page Tours and Cindi Madsen for the Advance Reader Copy. From start to finish I never put it down.
Catch and Release Groom by Cindi Madsen, book three in the Getting Hitched in Dixie series, is an enjoyable enemies-to-lovers story that takes place in the little town of Uncertainty Alabama. Easton Reeves is romance adverse after getting left at the altar several years ago by his High School Sweetheart. He is working several jobs, Sheriff, Search and Rescue and fly fishing guide. His dream is to own a tackle shop and do fly fishing excursions full time. His life is about to change when he knocks on the door of what is supposed to be honeymooners for their fly fishing lesson and he meets Imogen Kaplan. Imogen is supposed to be on her honeymoon, but she called off her wedding a month before she was to go down the aisle. Since she already paid for the “Honeymoon Package,” she decides to go it alone. When Easton meets Imogen, he senses she is going to be trouble. Once she realizes that she is the only singleton amongst all honeymooners, she make a bargain with Easton to pose as her groom to get each other through some of the events that week and in return, she will accompany him to his ex’s wedding. Imogen and Easton are really fun characters with trust issues, who enjoy pushing each other’s buttons. Neither of them are looking for love, romance, or a relationship and yet fate has other plans for them. It was fun to watch their relationship grow and their teasing of each other. There were some funny moments, and I enjoyed some of the side characters, and catching up with the Eaton’s friends. I highly recommend Catch and Release Groom to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Imogen Kaplan called off her wedding one month ago but decided to go on her planned honeymoon since she couldn't get her money back. Imagine her surprise when she is woken up VERY early the first morning by Easton Reeves, her fishing guide. At least the guy is drop dead gorgeous! Imogen has never fished and it clearly shows! ;) So far being a single woman on a week trip designed for only honeymooners is the pits. The one nice part.....Easton keeps showing up. After one horrible dinner, Easton comes to her rescue which gives Imogen an idea....he can pretend to be her husband for all of the "couple" activities and she can help him out by being his plus one at his ex's wedding. Of course the more time these two spend together, the more their chemistry burns until the fire gets out of control and they give into the heat. Both Imogen and Easton know that this is just a temporary thing, but each of them secretly wishes is were more permanent. Just when these two look like they are going to get their happy ending, the past comes backs and ruins everything. After some deep soul searching, clearer heads prevail and Imogen and Easton get their happy every after.
I just adored this steamy, opposites attract love story. Easton may have been a little gun shy because of his past but he was the perfect guy for Imogen. I loved Gator, Easton's dog. He brought a lot of comic relief! It was fun watching Imogen find the passion she was always looking for. I also enjoy the interaction with all of Easton's friends. This was another great addition to this really fun series.
This story was a lot of fun. Imogen cancels her wedding a month before the big day but decides to go on the honeymoon by herself. She meets Easton during a flyfishing lesson. He’s grumpy and she enjoys pushing his buttons. When it’s clear that she won’t be able to enjoy the couple-centered activities as a singleton, she asks Easton—the only other unattached man around—to be her second. He agrees to if she’ll attend his ex-fiancé’s wedding as his plus one.
I liked Imogen, though I do wish she wasn’t written as a klutz. She was in her head a lot, which would have been fine if she’d resolved some of the guilt and judgments she was struggling with. Instead, I was left feeling like I still didn’t understand or know her halfway through the book. Easton, too, was really closed off to begin with and difficult to like or know. In both Easton’s and Imogen’s cases, I wish we’d be given more depth in regard to their pasts, or at the very least, given the details we were given earlier in the story. The pair had off the charts chemistry and once they gave in to their attraction, it brought out the best in both characters. I liked that very much. The ending was a bit rushed in that the grand gesture was just sort of skimmed over.
This was a fun, quick story with lots of chemistry, laughs and adventure.

I think Easton was adorable in all his grumpy glory. We get Imgone’s story in bits and pieces and that made it a little difficult to relate to her. The whole pacing of the plot felt a little off in places. Overall though a fun read. I enjoyed the band of friends Easton has and how they have each other’s back.
This is the last book in the Getting Hitched in Dixie series, and I’m a little sorry there won’t be mote books in the series. Addie, Tucker, Shep, Easton and Ford have been friends for most of their lives in the little town of Uncertainty Alabama. We’ve already seen Addie, Tucker, Shep and Ford get there happily ever after, so now it is Easton’s turn. Easton Reeves is romance adverse after getting left at the alter several years ago by his High School Sweetheart. He is working several jobs, Sheriff, Search and Rescue and fly fishing guide. His dream is to own a tackle shop and do fly fishing excursions full time. His life is about to change when he knocks on the door of what is supposed to be honeymooner for their fly fishing lesson and he meets Imogen Kaplan. Imogen and Easton are really fun characters who enjoy pushing each other’s buttons. This is a wonderful end to a really enjoyable series. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
Catch and Release Groom is a fun Getting Hitched in Dixie book by Cindi Madsen. Easton Reeves is the last of the group to receive his HEA. He is a kind man if grumpy one. Honeymoon Week at the resort where he gives fishing lessons just brings out the grumpiness in him. Imogen Kaplan is not so much a runaway bride as she is one who called a halt on the wedding before the actual day. Pretty smart of her if you ask me. Some how she knew that she loved the groom but wasn’t in love with him, her childhood friend. Saved them all a lot more heartache that would have come. Still, she paid for a honeymoon week so decides to take it alone.
The entire setup of this plot has disaster written in it for these two characters but low and behold the needling of each other stops and a strange friendship fake romance begins. The story is heartwarming after a bit and so funny all the way through. I laughed out loud more than once. Addie, Tucker, and Ford, all make appearances along with a host of other supporting characters including one lovable dog.
For an amusing read Catch and Release Groom can’t be beat.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was such a good book, it started off a bit slow (a slow burn) and then it got to the chemistry when they loved to hate each other We have the sassy kinda Sunshine and the Grump A Runaway bride meets a former groom left at the alter.... what could happen here Imogen is on her honeymoon Easton is her fishing instructor - And this is where it all starts. Sooooo much flirty banter and sassy, soooo much fun on this alone honeymoon, then they make a deal to help each other out in a few life events I could not get enough of these two. I just couldn't stop reading and reading bc every page had more and more things that just sucked me in and needed more. I love the pull you feel from the beginning even after a few mishaps along the way. I love how Easton steps in a saves Imogen from being alone doing all the couple's activities on her honeymoon.
This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. Now I need to go back and read the rest of the books in the series. So in conclusion this is a must-read book I am soooo glad that I got this ARC and am thankful to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read it. The review above is my own, honest, and voluntary.
Although this is the third in the Getting Hitched series of Cindi Madsen, it took me some time to reconnect to the characters of the previous books. In my defense: I read Just one of the groomsmen (part 1) over 4 years ago.
But Easton is one of the poker friends of Shep, Ford,Tucker and Addie. After being left at the altar a few years ago, he has been happily ever after as a bachelor. But now that all of his friends are hitched (Always a Bridesmaid), he sometimes feels a little left out. Imogen has just left her soon-to-be husband, because she felt trapped. Always being belittled and talked down, she had no confidence whatsoever.
So, the bravest thing she has ever done is walking away from her impending marriage. And now she is determined to enjoy her honeymoon vacation. Which is harder than it seems, since everyone is so annoyingly comply. When Imogen and Easton strike up the deal to pretend to be a couple, you already know the ending of course.
But the road to it is just so much fun. Cindi’s characters are fun and witty, so the story flows like a rapid river. Relaxing, funny and awesome. In all four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
