Lori Wilde can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to write. She even went to nursing school so she could have a schedule flexible enough to allow her to write on the side. She nursed for 20 years, working in a variety of settings from the newborn nursery to the recovery room, to dialysis. But she never lost her desire to write.

She sold her first book in 1994 to Silhouette Romance but later discovered she had a flair for comedy and branched out to Harlequin Duets and now, to Blaze.

Lori is an adventuresome soul who loves to travel. She’s taken flying lessons, completed two marathons, rode in a hot-air balloon, performed with a professional jazz band, traveled Europe as a teenager, hiked volcanoes in Hawaii, trod on glaciers in Alaska, shot white-water rapids, water-skied, snow-skied, raced all-terrain vehicles, bodysurfed in the Gulf of Mexico, and photographed grizzly bears in Yellowstone.

She lives in her native Texas, with her own real-life hero, Bill.

Billionaire Gibb Martin hires bush pilot Sophia Cruz to fly him to Key West, Florida, to stop his best friend’s wedding. (Gibb thinks his friend is making a big mistake.) During their flight they encounter bad weather and are forced to make a crash landing on a small deserted island. While they wait for help to arrive they find themselves very attracted to each other and become lovers. But what will happen when they leave the island?

description

This was a quick and easy read. Sophia was a cute and independent heroine. I liked that she was a pilot and could fly and repair planes. She was warm, friendly, and very close to her family (who mostly lived in Monteverde, Costa Rica, where this book began.)

Gibb was a handsome blond billionaire. At first he was more interested in making money. He wore suits in the hot tropical weather, and was a bit uptight. Sophia taught him how to loosen up a bit and enjoy life.

This book had some funny parts, like when Sophia and Gibb chased after the monkeys for Gibb’s bracelet. And it had some sexy moments as well.

A fun, romantic read.

What a fun ride!

Enjoyable romance between a sassy, smart and sexy h and a flawed, strong H. This might be the best in this series.

It's been quite a while since I've read a book that I just didn't like. Unfortunately, I found one more. But just because I didn't like doesn't mean that you won't. So with that in mind, let's check out Crash Landing by Lori Wilde.

The first character we meet is Sophia. I tried really hard to like her, I did. In theory, she sounds like my kind of heroine. She's a pilot and owns her own business. She flies tourists on and off the island where she lives since it's only accessible by small bush planes. She loves flying and she truly appreciates that she gets to do what she loves for a living. She also seems to be a genuinely happy person and enjoys living on the island where she grew up and enjoys having family around. What's not to like? But she also seemed really shallow, too. Like, she saw this hot guy on a balcony and she gets up out of the hammock she was laying in and seductively stretched and tossed her hair around and I just thought it was a little over the top. It made her seem...kind of bitchy and full of herself. But that was just the very beginning...

The hot guy on the balcony happened to be Gibb Martin, a billionaire venture capitalist type. He's come to the island because he's been the victim of corporate espionage with people stealing his ideas and getting them to market before he can. But here, on the island, no one can get near without it being noticed. Everything changes, though, when Gibb gets a phone call informing him that his best friend intends to marry someone that he's only known for about a month. Gibb wants to save his friend from a mistake so he tasks Sophia with flying him to Miami. I liked Gibb. He's worked like a dog to make his money and to get where he is. Even though he's already done so much, he's STILL working hard. Also, he clearly loves his friends and is willing to do some crazy stuff to try and protect them. Having said that, I don't know that we get a really clear picture of exactly who Gibb is before he and Sophia get together.

Gibb and Sophia are hot together but would you expect anything less? But I never found myself rooting for them to get together. When Sophia finds out what Gibb's super secret project is, she throws a fit because it could potentially put her out of business... years down the line. And then when Gibb tries to make her feel better by giving her some possible solutions if she did lose too much business, she throws another fit saying that he's trying to throw money at a problem like always. Like always? Because she's known him so long?? It just solidified my opinion that Sophia was shallow. Nevermind the fact that Gibb's plan will be a benefit to the environment and a benefit for the island in general (by boosting tourism, the island's main source of income). No, all that matters is how it affects Sophia personally. Sure, she sees that her initial reaction was not a good one and she tries to see the benefits but for me, it was too late. Then it got weird for me when Sophia sees Gibb pleasuring himself in a waterfall and she starts pleasuring herself too. Huh? Maybe it would have been hot if I had liked these two characters more, but I didn't particularly like them so it just seemed a little ridiculous. I mean, hey, who am I to tell someone to NOT touch their own naughty bits?! But that scene was just too much.

I hate to give ANY book a low rating because all of this is so subjective. Just because I don't like it... what the heck do I know?? Most days, I'm happy if I have matching socks on, ya know what I mean? If I love a book, I'll scream it from a mountaintop and I'll bug your ass until you try it. But if I don't love a book, I like to quietly just return it to the library or delete it off my Kindle. Unfortunately, I think Sara would have my head if I wasn't honest so here I am, telling you about a not-so-hot book. But I think that all of the Harlequin Junkie readers know how to take a negative review so I try to give you a little bit of what the book is about and tell you the things I didn't like and you can take it from there. I, for one, did not like this book and would not recommend it but don't just take my word for it. Feel free to read it and tell me what you DID like about it!! :)

While I have quite a few Lori Wilde books sitting on my TBR shelf, this one was a freebie of the day for my kindle and I decided to give it a gander. I read it in about a day so it flowed pretty well. Here are my thoughts on Crash Landing by Lori Wilde.

We start the book with a girl staring at a hunky guy, I mean who doesn’t like to do that on occasion right?? Sophia Cruz likes very much what Gibb Martin has to offer in the looks department. He is an American, she is Costa Rican and American by birth. He is all business all the time, while she likes to take each day slow and steady. What could they possibly have in common??

Gibb needs a ride to Florida quickly because his best friend is getting married after only knowing his fiancée for a month. He is backing out of partnering with Gibb, because of his new love, on a new money making deal and that can’t happen. Sophia is a bush pilot and his only hope to get there in time to stop the wedding. Now if he can only stop lusting after her long enough to get focused on stopping this wedding.

Sophia wouldn’t mind a quick roll in the hay with this rich boy but no long lasting relationship, why would he possibly look at her twice? She really needs the money so she goes against her own better advice and agrees to fly him to Florida. A long close cabin ride will certainly not help squelch her desire.

Gibb and Sophia get to know each other on the flight then the unexpected crash landing on a deserted island gets them even closer. Will they find out they have more in common than they both realize?

I liked the flow of this story for the most part. I feel like it started off and a good pace then slowed a little in the middle. Without giving too many spoilers I feel like there was a weird middle part on the island that served no real purpose but I thoroughly enjoyed the part with the monkeys. I am giggling still as I write this review. I liked Lori Wilde’s way of capturing the culture and interactions so you could really picture it all in your minds eye. Crash Landing captured my attention pretty quickly and kept it all the way through. I would say this was a good way to get my feet wet in Lori Wilde’s title pool.

A fun and sexy quick read! A sexy billionaire, a down to earth female bush pilot stranded on a deserted island! What's not to like! This story has humor, sexy banter and a independent headstrong woman!

This is the 3rd of Lori's "Stop the wedding" trilogy. All three books involve 3 different men who are traveling with the intent of stopping the SAME wedding in Key West --1 by car (book 1), the second by boat, and the 3rd book by air. Instead of stopping the wedding, each man finds his soulmate along the journey and then wish the bride and groom well--now they hav each found true love of

While I love all three books, I enjoyed this book the best. The billionaire hero really does not care about things--he hopes to someday find a woman who will love him for who he is, and not for what he has, and in this book he does. The journey involves a plane crash (forced landing on a beach with a beautiful native woman on a deserted tropical island--except for the orchid thieves. He has been watching her for awhile, but she thinks he is the typical beautiful shallow rich person--she realizes who he is during their few days being marooned. They have one magnificent love Session before the orchid smugglers arrive. He then gives up his most prized (not because of its high value, but the sentimental value) possesion to allow her to repair the plane so they can fly off the island. While they are missing, he loses multi-millions of dollars on his current project. But when he finds his true love, he reverts to his true love job, which allows him to work from home where he can spend most of his time loving his new wife and children in a tropical paradise!

Lori is one of my top 5 writers (none are ranked--I love them equally). She never disappoints! And this easy read series is among my favorite of her series books! Read them in order, although each can stand alone, you will enjoy them more read in order.

Who knew that uptight, stressed-out billionaire venture capitalist Gibb Martin and laid-back bush pilot Sophia Cruz would hit it off and hit it off big time after the plane she was piloting for him crash-landed on an uninhabited island in the Caribbean? After hiring Sophia to fly him from Costa Rica to Key West so he could stop his best friend's wedding, sparks flew when the plane developed engine trouble and crashed on the island. Stranded without radio contact until Sophia can fix the rudder of the plane and also the radio, the sparks begin to fly almost immediately. As they fight off poachers looking for the (very real) ghost orchids which they found growing on the island and which are on the endangered list, they discover that there's more to their relationship than just sex. But will it last once once they are rescued?

For a short book, the story was complete, the h and H are well-drawn and it's entertaining. Just the kind of story to take your mind off your troubles!

Disclaimer: I do no like romance novels. Never have, probably never will.
I picked up this book from the discards at work because it looked like a silly, trashy, read-it-in-one-day-on-the-beach book. I was right on most accounts. And the books wasn't too bad until I got to where the heroine "plucked a ripe banana from a tree and ate it for energy". Um, really?!? I can suspend disbelief, but when something is biologically (botanically) impossible you've lost me.

Anyway - an OK story for a romance. At least I could believe the premise since they had been staring at each other for two weeks prior to the start of the story. (I find the 'love/lust at first glance' premise very hard to swallow.)

This is the third book in the Stop the Wedding series. This book has it all romance, adventure, sexual chemistry and an HEA! I especially liked Sophia she is such a strong independent woman and pretty much says exactly what she thinks! Gibbs is totally out of his element with Sophia but he handles it well and comes out just the kind of hero we love!

its a good read, i think people dont appreciate this kind of novel anymore, they r all looking for 'erotica' novels posing as 'romance'. To me , a romance novel has to have the POV of both the hero/heroine, most of these young adult novels nowadays are mostly only from the girl's point of view. Honestly I hate reading from that POV. im sick of that kind of writing. It makes me feel that those authors really dont know what they are doing . Anyway , this book is a good read , try it

Loved this story of gibb the uptight billionaire and Sophie the pilot. Like the strong female, the foreign setting . While the story is predictable it also had enough freshness to make it very enjoyable - Sophie is also a mechanic and manages to fix the plane - very impressive. As the novel is a blaze there is action. I want to read the others in this series.

I do not normally let unfinished any book I start reading but I have to say that I could not stand the way this book was written from the beginning. So unreal!!
Only 30 pages and I'm done!
