I'm proud of myself - I finished reading this harebrained story. No DNF, nope. I liked the cover very much, but that was the best of this whole thing. Both MCs met, exchanged 'I love you' after a few days, then the truth behind the offer emerged and bang 'I don't love you anymore, I hate you, I still love you, you are the love of my life and now I lost it' Grandpa who knew it all and then the whole happy ending was wrapped up in a few pages. Thankfully the end came already at 85% on my kindle.

This is an incredibly emotional and intense read, with characters who pulled me in from the very first. The challenges they face are very real - greed motivated by the need to provide and protect is very different from greed for the sake of it - and yet it often gets judged as the same. I think it's fascinating how, in the course of this story, that initial judgement makes way for a better understanding of Clive's motivations.

Clive has reasons for the way he acts and, more importantly, he learns to change his approach and adapt it to the very special situation he finds with Seth and his grandfather. Yes, it takes Clive a while, but that is half the fun and intensity of this story!

Seth is concerned for his grandfather's health and only wants to protect his trucking company. But he cannot deny his attraction to Clive, and even though it starts out a purely "physical curiosity", it opens the door, so to speak, for Seth to learn more.

The back-and-forth between these two men is fascinating, and the change they go through amazing. Not to mention the very hot sex! If you like stories about two men who teach each other what's really important, if you enjoy a bit of corporate intrigue, and if you're looking for a read that is as hot as it is exciting, you will probably like this novella.

Wonderful story!

It's amazing how DJ Manly managed to make Clive so sympathetic, despite his situation. I felt sorry for him and I cheered when he made the right decision at the end! Their relationship with Seth were great - hot and hopeful and touching, loved it! And the whole Seth's family was adorable too, especially his grandfather! The guy's sharp and he saw right through Clive's facade.

The ending just put a content smile on my face :)
I really loved this intense short story, highly recommend it!

Clive has one goal in life and that is to always have enough, enough food, enough money, enough everything. After a harrowing childhood where Clive never had anything, he now works hard to make sure he is never in that position again, but when he meets Seth he will take a chance and change because once he has a taste of love nothing else matters. Seth is determined to protect his grandfather and the town from corporate greed, but Clive gets under his skin and he works out a way to save the company and give his grandfather something to look forward to. But, Seth discovers the truth and turns his back on Clive and Clive has to scramble to find a way to save the company and his love.

This is a good story of hotshot corporate shark finding love and changing his ways. Clive is a great character who has suffered hardship in his childhood, he watched his sister die due to neglect and malnutrition and has sworn to never be in that position again, and if that means being seen as a cold heartless man, then so what at least he won’t go without. Seth rushes to help his grandfather when he discovers that his grandfather is ill and his business in trouble, but what he discovers is so much worse than he thought, the business has two options bankruptcy or Clive’s company, but he needs assurances that the company’s doors will remain open. The two get to know each other but lies get in the way and Clive ends up trying to prove that he can change.

Seth is a good guy, he gave up the opportunity for a good paying job to work for the poor and has never regretted it, when he meets Clive he feels an instant pull to the guy which rapidly develops into love. Clive has a shell around his heart that Seth shatters and makes him want to be a better man. Together they make a great couple, but I felt that they fell in love too quickly, over just a couple of weeks and in an awkward situation, it felt rushed. The story is well written and it flows well, you get a good feel for both characters and you hope that they do work it out and they get their happily ever after.

I will recommend this if you love corporate sharks who have a change of heart, a good guy who can forgive, some hot sex and a very happy ending.

Some people are never satisfied. This is especially true with big businesses. They are greedy and always want more. To avoid thinking about the people who will be affected by their greed, they hide behind phrases like: “Nothing personal. It's just business” or “I'm just doing my job” as if this absolves their responsibility to the people whose lives they decimate. Clive Roberts is caught up in this whirlwind of greed until a small business take over suddenly becomes very personal. Clive has a choice; continue on his path of indifference, or face his innermost fears and make a stand for what he believes.

Clive is a good man, but the skeletons in his closet, particularly the ones concerning family, keep him from committing. Seth Frost has a very close family ties but doesn't quite know where he fits in with them. They're at a crossroad. They can continue on feeling empty and indecisive, or choose a path which will give them fulfillment and a greater sense of purpose. Clive and Seth dance around each other emotionally and physically until they decide what's important. This eventually leads to some major changes for them.

D.J. blew me away with his ability to fill his story with an abundance of emotion while presenting situations which challenge the moral integrity of his characters and give them opportunities for growth. I couldn't help becoming invested in Seth and Clive and followed them in their ups and downs hoping for the best and, in the end, I wasn't disappointed. For a story that will frustrate, anger, uplift, challenge, and intrigue you while reminding everyone of the perils of being greedy, this is an excellent choice. Thank you, D.J., for such a great trip.

Ohhhh...Such a cute little read! I wouldn't say it was a "deep, gritty, raw emotions read" but it was still very good! Manly defintely cuts to the chase in this one. Sometimes its OK not to give so much sexual angst...ecspecially in a short story; and this one pulled it off. The sex scenes are super hot too! I also liked that there are quite a few characters introduced for this 108pg story, but you get enough of each one to feel satisfied. Good Job! Looking forward to more from D.J. Manly.
