Quite an interesting line of questioning coming from a man she’s never met, especially since he is essentially her boss. Drake Stagliano is the hotel and restaurant manager; he oversees the Riverside—go figure, he’s tall, dark, and incredibly handsome. Molly hopes for her nerves sake that Drake doesn’t like to hang out in the kitchen.
Oh, he didn’t before…but he will now that he knows Molly is there. Drake wants her, has since the very first day he saw her, but Molly continues to shoot him down.
Time to get creative…
“You left this in the cab last night. Figured you would need it. However, if you want the remainder of the contents you must meet me for dinner first. Pick you up at 8pm tomorrow night. –D.S.”
What starts out as a means to an end quickly takes a turn for the hot and steamy. The chemistry between Drake and Molly is undeniable, but Molly doesn’t want their relationship to influence what she does in the kitchen. Keeping things private between them until she finishes the internship seems easy enough until someone threatens to expose them…and their little kitchen affair.
Talk about wetting my appetite! Very fast and fun read, I definitely savored this book all the while devouring every last page. Brooke Cumberland has this way of tickling your taste buds for a hot and cold romance; perfect way to keep the pot simmering…if you know what I mean! I look forward to the next juicy morsel in Kitchen Scandals!

I don’t know how much I can stress how badly I dislike those three little letters. D.N.F. Three little letters that add up to three words that make me cringe…did not finish. I am a self proclaimed Book Whore. Not finishing a book is like my kryptonite…I hate it. But unfortunately, there are so books out there and if I feel like I have given a book a fair chance to do what it needs to do for me to like it, and I don’t…then I have to move on. That being said, just because a particular book didn’t do it for me, I will not bash it or the author. I will simply state my opinion, as critical as one may take it, and my feelings and leave it at that.
Kitchen Affairs is about a single mom, Molly Woods, who lost her fiancé/father of her daughter Stella 4 years ago. She’s following her dreams of being a chef and has an internship working for the very prestigious restaurant, Riverside. Drake Stagliano, the manager of the hotel and restaurant where she works, takes an interest in Molly and although she has been happily single, focusing on her daughter and career, she’s drawn to him.
I liked the characters, a lot. Molly is very strong and admirable; she’s not had it easy given that she became a single mother at 18. Drake is swoon worthy, says and does all sorts of wonderful things, he’s got all the factors of a great book bf. My problem was aside from lots and lots of sex, I didn’t feel their pull/draw to each other. I was told about it….and there were fleeting glimpses where I started to feel those emotions but I didn’t feel it like I normally do.
As far as I know, aside from Drake seeing her at orientation, up until the first time we see him speak to her, that was their first interaction…then after two weeks of lots of sex, they’re in love? I would hope they did more than that…if they did, it wasn’t shown and aside from a few brief conversations, I never really understood what these two saw in each other. And once they said I love you, they said it way too much…it felt like it was being forced, like if they kept on saying it, it was going to make me believe it more, and I didn’t.
A lot of the story felt forced…some of the characters, the conflict, it really broke the flow for me on top of the relationship between Molly and Drake feeling rushed. There was also quite a bit going on, drama wise. There was Drake’s ex gf, a chick Molly was in class with, paparazzi, another guy that liked Molly, it was too much and I feel that also took away from focusing on Drake and Molly and their relationship.
Speaking of the flow…I didn’t get it. There were a few times I would be reading a scene and then it would stop and go into her thoughts, or jump to something else. There were parts that needed a scene break where there wasn’t one, but then there were scene breaks that confused me. I’m not sure if the book was edited…the only thing I noticed happened repeatedly was redundancies. The same word being used in a sentence twice, or in back to back sentences. If it was enough for me to stop and take notice, that’s too many times for me.
I feel like an ass for saying all of these things…but I have to be honest and trust me when I tell you, I hate saying them. I love books with a passion, so I want to love every single one of them, and unfortunately that’s not possible. This book has a lot of promise, a great concept and good characters, and could be a great book, with some revision. Please don’t take my word for gospel, I encourage everyone to read and form their own opinions. :-(

This was a fun read! Molly is a strong single mom who works her butt off to make a good life for her daughter and that's someone I can admire. While there are moments you just want to V8 Juice smack her in the face, it really shows that she's still human. :-) I loved Drake - he was so sweet! <3 Excepppt, I know he's hiding something and I NEED TO KNOW! There are a lot of great steamy scenes! Lots of Kitchen action ;-) Excited for the next one!

I wanted to love this story. I went into it and really liked the whole single mom aspect. I really thought hey this is sort of a Cinderella storyline or a Maid in Manhatton type thing. But half way through I lost respect for the heroine. She became somebody totally different and made some really nasty choices. I felt sorry for Drake and thought he didn't deserve the stunt she pulled. The thing that bothered me the most was she never really told the whole truth. She told part of it and then didn't ever feel remorse. The author is a great writer. The story just rubbed me the wrong way. Then the way it ended only made me believe it will be the same song in the next book. Poor Drake.

Creo que tener expectativas sobre un libro ya puede ser algo malo. En caso de este, me ha decepcionado.
Tenía tantas expectativas, y al terminarlo me terminó decepcionando.
Este libro tiene tantos puntos negativos... Empezamos con:
El instalove entre los personajes, ya a la página treinta se aman, hacen el amor, y se enamoran el uno al otro, lo peor de todo es que ni siquiera se conocen. Sé que al tener una pareja no se conocen casi nada pero en este caso es que literalmente no se conocen. Además de eso él la acosa, y lo peor de todo ella ama que la acosen.
¿En serio? ¿Qué te acosen es algo hermoso?
Todo el trama es demasiado rápido me esperaba algo lento pero luego rápido, pero desde el inicio ya literalmente se enamoran Drake y Molly, además de que pasa todo demasiado rápido, casi nada tiene sentido. Y peor aún... todo el drama. Todo el drama que tiene el libro... Dios. Molly se cae de la silla, ya un drama. Drake estornuda, otro drama. Molly respira, un drama más grande. No, no puedo así.
Lo peor de todo: El triángulo amoroso, en serio autores... ¿Para qué escriben triángulos amorosos que solamente son desastres? ¿Para qué escribirlos si solamente dañan más el libro?
Además de que las situaciones se vuelven repetitivas y cansadas, además de que las extienden demasiado para “hacer el libro más interesante”.
Ese final no me lo esperaba, ¿un final abierto, y para colmo que va a ver otro triángulo amoroso? Ugh.
Aún así tengo ganas de leer el segundo libro.

Couldn't finish this one :(
There was just no where near enough depth to these characters and the love story was kind of insane... we were TOLD how much they cared for each other and not shown.
Things were moving at what seemed like light-speed!! He was around her daughter and staying in her home after just days.
Confessions of adoration and undying love, also after a few days.
Talk of this guy becoming her daughters new 'daddy' after about a week... and that's where I had to stop!
The sex scenes were well done, but it's so hard to get into them when I just didn't feel a connection between the main couple.
I think I have only dnf'd TWO other books after reading 500+ books. So I know that this really just wasn't the book for me :(

4.5 anchor stars!!!!! I loved Molly & Michael lol. They have the best relationship. And OMG DRAKE.. Enough said. He is amazing lol. But as always he comes with baggage smh. Can't wait 4 book two!!! But I'm happy 4 Molly for finally moving on 4 Liam. I hate her lost but I'm glad she is trying

Kitchen Affairs was good. The story was sweet and romantic. The heroine Molly and her sweet little girl Stella were two great characters. Molly is an intern at a hotel restaurant that Drake runs. Molly is a loving, independent, at times though she can get a little down on herself. Molly fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Liam and got pregnant with Stella. Only to lose Liam to an accident. Molly is determined to be a chef. She took her best friend, Michael, with her daughter to Chicago to go to Culinary School. Molly and Drake fall in love. The story has twists and turns, and kind of ends on a little bit of a cliff, then it goes into the second book Kitchen Scandals
It is a year later, and Molly’s life has changed drastically. She landed her dream job in the kitchen where she interned- working at Riverside. Things with them are still really hot, and after getting through the challenges in their first year, Drake is ready to take the next step- they move in together. What Molly doesn’t know though, Drake has a secret. New threats keep popping up in Molly and Drake’s life together. Someone is after Molly and Drake is trying to keep her safe- but money can’t always buy safety. Kitchen Scandals lives up to its name, and it was good as well. Then comes the culmination of the series- Kitchen Promises.

This book was a freebie on Amazon. The story kept me interested and the author did a good job holding it through out the book. ****spoilers**********
I had a couple of issues with the writing and the story but nothing so terrible that you should avoid supporting this authors work. One thing that I noticed was the dialogue in the sex scenes seemed repetitive. I know it doesn't seem like much but it will after a couple of scenes because you feel like you're rereading the same one again. I know other authors have mentioned that sex scenes are hard to write so I can only imagine what they have to put themselves through.
The part of the story that I wished for more was the conflict between her and Drake. Yes he didn't talk to her for a long time and that in itself was bad but I'm talking about them having actual arguments or words or angst. When he was spending the time at the hospital when his ex got int the car accident that would have been a perfect time for their relationship to be tested. We also never found out what happened during the time he ignored her or what that girl was doing in his office. I liked that they had to overcome the public humiliation together however I feel there wasn't really any conflict that we got to read about that wasn't an internal debate going on inside her head.
I liked the fact that the author made me like both male characters and I also was struggling about keeping the "other" relationship friends only. I look forward to book 2.

This was okay. The story had some unique parts. I liked the characters. Drake and Molly were ok together. I would have liked a little more pursuing considering Molly's past. The story moved very fast and lots happen in a matter of weeks and no-one seems to be telling the full truth. I might read the next one but it's not at the top of my list.

Okay I am only giving this three stars because of the way the book was written, it bounces around, for example you will be reading a love scene or something and the next thing I know its the next day. When I first started reading this book I kept going back and re-reading a line or two to make sure I didnt miss anything. Now before everyone starts jumping down my throught saying how Im just being mean Im not, authors say they want honest reviews so heres mine. Now dont get me wrong I didnt HATE the book I just I just didnt like the way it was put together, because the book has strong characters and a sweet story all though I was getting super frustrated with Molly because here she had this great guy who loves her and she was getting all hot for another guy and questioning wheather or not she loved Drake. I was glad that she finally figured things out in the end all though the epilogue makes me feel like she may just end up doing the same frustrating thing in the second book but you never know.

I really enjoyed this novel! I always appreciate a story that has what I like to call "real life potential", meaning it could actually happen. Whereas the idea of a real life Christian Grey or Gideon Cross seems utterly impossible, Ms. Cumberland has made Drake Stagliano a very real possibility. He's an alpha male with much more to offer than just hot sex. He's rich and powerful but doesn't boast about it or use over the top antics to prove his love/devotion. Yes he buys Molly gifts but they're edible arrangements and other small tokens of affection. Real gifts your average girl would love to get from her boyfriend/husband! What I loved even more is that this extremely attractive, successful businessman took interest in a single mother with emotional baggage! How often does that kind of story line come around?? Not often enough!
My only issue is that occasionally the scene changes were very abrupt. They didn't always transition smoothly, and kind of caught me off guard from time to time when in the next sentence or paragraph its a different day and time. Also there were quite a few typos, it didn't disturb the flow of the story so it really wasn't a major deal for me, but I just felt like it was worth mentioning. Otherwise I have no complaints. The writing was good and the story went at a nice unrushed pace. The character develop was excellent, I really felt for Molly and absolutely loved her relationship with her best friend/roommate Michael. The relationship between Molly and Drake was very believable and enviable. I definitely enjoyed it and look forward to Kitchen Scandals (book #2).
My only issue is that occasionally the scene changes were very abrupt. They didn't always transition smoothly, and kind of caught me off guard from time to time when in the next sentence or paragraph its a different day and time. Also there were quite a few typos, it didn't disturb the flow of the story so it really wasn't a major deal for me, but I just felt like it was worth mentioning. Otherwise I have no complaints. The writing was good and the story went at a nice unrushed pace. "VERY ENTERTAINING,WELL WRITTEN, CANT PUT IT DOWN KIND OF BOOK"
Before I begin I must say that I very rarely write any sort of reviews or feedback. I am a very busy wife, and mother, but after I read this book I really felt it was something I needed to do for others looking for a really good book, but they just weren't sold on it yet. I almost didn't purchase it because I had some others I was checking out, but I'm very pleased I did.
Now with that being said, I was so enthralled with this book that I had to read day and night until I was finished. The author writes so vividly that it was like seeing a movie only in words. It may not be for everyone due to explicit scenes, but there is a great story line. I really enjoyed how some scenes were hot and steamy and then some were what seemed like real everyday life. I give every author props for putting the effort to have the pen hit the paper, but I give even more props when a author like this one is able to make her characters come alive(as if you knew them personally), incorporate the explicit make you blush kind of scenes, and yet it isn't the same story line as your same old same old romance/erotica books that are out there. The author really kept you wondering what's going to happen next ( thus the reason I read it day and night whenever I had the chance because I just had to know what was going to happen next). I will definitely be buying the next one.

Kitchen Affairs by Brooke Cumberland is an emotional read about a young woman who always seems to almost have her happily ever after to have the bottom drop out and when her bottom drops out let me tell you it drops all the way out. Molly is an very courageous independent incredibly strong single mom of an absolutely adorable 4 year daughter. Her best friend and confidant Michael has been with her since she lost her boyfriend, Liam and they moved to Chicago for her to pursue her education and career. Michael has been there to help Molly raise Stella and has been pretty much the only stable thing in this young woman's life. I really enjoyed their "Girlfriend" like relationship.
Then enters Drake Stagliano, yep ladies you got it right! With a name like that could he be anything but completely panty-dropping good looking? There romance is a wild fire, its pretty obvious they are soul mates or at least real close to it. But of course what good love story would be complete with out scandal, another man after our heroine and more scandal and in Molly's life there has to be some tear jerker moments as well.

I am thoroughly impressed with Brooke's first book! I loved the story, I loved the characters, and overall it was just a fun and flirty read. Sometimes I felt like the scenes were a little rushed, and I would've liked to see a little more emotion from the characters, especially during the hot and heavy scenes. Luckily, I didn't feel like that took anything away from the story.
I highly recommend this book, and I look forward to reading Kitchen Scandals!

Normally I read para/sci/ro. This was just plain ro. And lots of it...sexy, fun book to read. When taking a break from all the para/sci out there, this was a nice change from all the vampires, werewolves, immortals, and faeries. Great romance story. Would love to read more in this series if I can get my grubby mitts on them.

I liked the book, but I don't know, all the relationship moved so fast!!

I love this book. Molly lost her fiancé in a accident. She moved to Chicago for a internship. Drake is the manger where Molly internship is and he falls in love with her. I highly recommend this book.

Kitchen Affairs was a fun, cute, steamy read. The book literally jumps right in from the first page.
We meet Molly, who is a single mom, on her last semester of cooking school. She is doing her internship at the Riverside Restaurant. She is being pursued by Drake Stagliano, the manager of the Riverside Restaurant.
The book was a bit choppy in parts, and left me with many questions. Questions specifically geared towards Drake and his whereabouts during a 3 week period. Also, what was his reasoning for lack of communication with Molly towards the end of the book? But overall, I really enjoyed the book. It had some very nice steamy scenes that were a nice addition to the story. it and want to know what’s to come for Molly and Drake.

Mixing pots, spatulas, treats, sex, and steaminess...oh my! Kitchen Affairs brings the heat to the kitchen, and if you can't take the heat get yourself outta THIS kitchen! But if you like to walk a bit on the wild side, prepare yourself because you're about to enter a world of flirty and desirable fun!
Our heroine, isn't the typical run of the mill woman. Nope she is sweet, a bit naive, head-strong, and on a mission to prove herself to the world. She is also a single mother to the most wonderful four-year old Stella. I was in love with Molly and her passion for Stella, cooking, and life. We are on a bit of a roller-coaster of emotions with Molly, as she is overcoming some trying times in her life. Then she meets a dark, brooding multi-millionaire, and falls for him. And in his bed too, lots of times... steamy, fun, hot drizzlin' sex! I am a bit skeptical him, though..he has a past of being quite the ladies man, if ya know what I mean. I don't want Molly to get her heart broken, again. Really she doesn't need anymore drama in her life, she has had more than enough in last four years....so to add a man into her mixing bowl may or may not be the right path to choose....
Mr. Hot Shot Money Bags, is none other than Drake Stagliano. He gets what he wants, in ways that made me secretly wanna lick him...shhh!! don't tell Molly. Ok so yeh he is a ladies man, I mean come on he is suave and sexy, so of course he gets the ladies. But the way he wants and tries to get Molly was a bit much. It was almost like he was a creeptastic freak, stalking Molly. A little overbearing much? Yes that is him. I sort of fell for his ways, though. I won't lie about that. He has layers that he keeps hidden, so maybe he is what Molly needs. It was hard for me to accept him though, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and all hell to break loose. I also questioned his morals and why was Molly the one for him? It just doesn't sit right with me.
A few other interesting characters are Michael, Travis, and Kendra. Michael is Molly's gay roommate, who made me swoon. He is the perfect BFF! He is a huge heart, and made me smile a lot! Little Miss Stella has Michael wrapped around her finger. Then there's Travis. He is the hot guy who randomly pops into the picture, and at times that made me wanna jump for joy. He's my fave character, in this book. I root for the underdogs! And that's who Trav is! Travis is delicious, wonderful, and warm. So very warm!!!! I wanna snuggle him, hard! Then last but wickedly last, is Kendra the psycho ex of Drake the Fabulous. I wanted to stab her eyes out, she bothered the snot outta me. Women like her deserve to fall off the face of the Earth...Blah! She likes to stir the mixing pot of Drake and Molly....missy be cray cray!
Like I mentioned before there is a lot of SEX. Tons of it, all over the place. Especially in the kitchen. Like holy hottness, Batman! It made me giddy for Miss Molly the born-again-virgin! Lady needed lovin' like you have no idea! Drake fulfilled things she hasn't experienced ever. Their relationship was everything she needed. He was all about her, and she him. They are learning to get to know each other in a very intimate way. Throw in Stella and this is a completely new ball game for Drake. Well and Molly too, since she hasn't opened her heart or mind in years to another man. They really do complete each other. Romantically, physically, emotionally, and sexually. They are hot hot hot! As hot as they are, they get a bit cool too. Add some Travis and a side of Kendra and things are bound to get fried.
As much as this was a quick read, I just couldn't get into it. I felt like this was sort of a forced story, almost like the author was trying too hard. The concept and characters were great, and that was what appealed to me. But Kitchen Affairs was also lacking something. Every time I thought the book was making a change for the best, it would turn around and the outcome would be very predictable. Overall Kitchen Affairs was a fun book about the unexpected turns in life. I look forward to reading more from Author Brooke Cumberland! I give this book 3.5 HOT Stars!!

Kitchen Affairs by Brooke Cumberland was a pretty fabulous read for me. If it says anything about the book I couldn't put it down. I felt an instant connection to these characters. Going into the story knowing this woman Molly is a single mother intrigued me. It isn't often I come across such a relate able book. I mean being a mother is hard enough. Everyone deserves to be worshipped and loved.
In the beginning of the book we meet Molly she has just met Drake he manages the hotel that Molly is interning for. She is just about finished with culinary school a dream of hers. She has a sad past her fiance' was killed in a car accident and she was left to raise their two month old daughter alone. So as you can see not the typical situation for a twenty-three year old. Drake has his eyes set on Molly. He doesn't care about the rules he just wants her. So he is relentless and finally she gives in. He is irresistible and the feeling she starts having for him are not like any other she has had before. She doesn't date even though she definitely has been pursued in the past. Drake is her exception and they are quite adorable together. They need to keep things quiet for her reputation but unfortunately their may be someone who may want Drake as well. He is a rich, sexy, powerful man, it's to be expected I guess. Poor sweet Molly she just might have a fight on her hands. Their is also a bunch of other drama but I don't want to give too much away.
So I just have to say first off that I kept waiting for Drake to drop some big bomb on Molly. I just had this feeling he was hiding something. It actually made me quite nervous. He just seemed so secretive and closed off at times. He was complicated to say the least but pretty darn great to Molly and her daughter Stella. He wasn't put off at all with her having a daughter. I could totally see them as a happy family. I didn't think their story was predictable which was a nice. They were a couple with real problems that they had to work through. Their relationship was effortless and they truly have something special. This is a series I am definitely going to keep my eye out for. I am intrigued to see what happens to all these characters as the story continues.
I was pleasantly surprised by Kitchen Affairs. The cover of the book will pique your interest. The story will stay with you long after you read it. My recommendation is no hands down must read.

Whew. This book is hot start to finish. I loved every second of it, even when some of the characters were driving me bonkers. Mols and Drake why must you play with my heart so! I am going to for sure have a hangover from this book. It strayed from the norm and kept my attention beginning to end. Its was just one of those books. An original. Ok lets talk about the actual story.
This book follow Molly and her journey to finding love and moving on with her life. She lost her fiancé at a young age and has since been a single mom. That itself is a feat but she does all she can and uses all the resources she has to provide for her daughter and to do what she has always dreamed, becoming a Chef. I commend her for this. not in any part of this book does she put her own needs about Stellas. Molly is also still moving on form Liam's death those 4 years ago. Her heart was his and thats not something easily given again. I loved her as a character, she was funny, interesting and a great mom. Sometimes I wish she wasn't so hanging on Drakes word, but part of me enjoyed how vulnerable she was with him. It was a give and take with her. I thought at some points she should just stand up for herself and make a choice, but really I commend her on hanging in there with him. True Love is worth it.
Drake. OH Drake. I Loved him as a character. He had that tourtured-ish alpha male going on, but he was also tender with the girls. You really got to see his soft side form the get go. I loved that it wasn't something that Mols had to work towards to get out of him. It was just natural. He was sappy and loving, but also domineering and Hot. The perfect Mix.
This book had its ups and downs and They definitely had their bumps in the road. Revealing bumps emotionally at that. I felt for the characters and just loved the story line. It was a different and new read which I always love. It also left me nice and wide open for the next book! Not a cliffhanger per-say but you are holding your breath for the next book :D In addition I got to t read the Prologue Excerpt for Kitchen Scandals and Oh Boy!!!! The writing was great and it was edited wonderfully! I really have no complaints. This is a wonderful novel and a great addition to any romance lovers bookshelf.

4.5/5 stars. This book took off from page 1 - no messing around just right to the point and action and I loved it!
SPOILER ALERT:
Drake was a sexy yet weird character for me. I was skeptical about him from the start. At first I was like, ummm you have some strange behaviors, then he was all sweet and overly romantic with Molly then he'd be all crazy on the phone with other people. I did enjoy his scenes with Stella and I grew to like him, but I know he is hiding something big. And his realtionship with Kendra, that was weird then the way he responded to her being in the hospital was even more weird... And I was waiting and waiting and waiting for the bomb to drop but nothing in book 1... Hopefully book 2 will get to why he is the way he is, more on his real relationship with Kendra and his big secret.
And Miss Molly - ummm she is a strong woman, a great mother and an amazing friend. Clearly young and not experienced with men, causes her to not really see what is right in front of her or amybe she thinks if she ignores it it will go away... ummm, no Mols...! And these men that just fall in love with her, good grief... I mean I guess a person can be amazing and all but are men that know you are in a serious relationship with a millionaire, really pinning away for you and falling in love with you every day... Ummm I think not. But I guess she is all that and a bag of chips. That was just a little too silly for me, but that is just me and my opinion. And she is kind of naive and that irrates me too - a little too trusting of everyone.
Micheal... he is a mess but very mature and smart. I enjoy his character and can apperciate having someone around that you trust and love that is their for not only you but your child and not only liove you but loves your child too.
Oh and Stella - she is a adorable. Some scenes I can just picture her twirling around and saying whatever she wants - she is a doll!!!
But I really enjoyed this book and will start book 2 now!!!

I mean I guess a person can be amazing and all but are men that know you are in a serious relationship with a millionaire, really pinning away for you and falling in love with you every day... Ummm I think not. But I guess she is all that and a bag of chips. That was just a little too silly for me, but that is just me and my opinion. And she is kind of naive and that irrates me too - a little too trusting of everyone.
Micheal... he is a mess but very mature and smart. I enjoy his character and can apperciate having someone around that you trust and love that is their for not only you but your child and not only liove you but loves your child too.
Oh and Stella - she is a adorable. Some scenes I can just picture her twirling around and saying whatever she wants - she is a doll!!!
But I really enjoyed this book and will start book 2 now!!!

Kitchen Affairs is a super cute romantic read!! And absolutely gives off a lot of Heat in the Kitchen!! Set in the Riverside Restaurant in the Windy City, Chicago....
Molly is a strong female lead, not only being a single mother reaching for her dreams, but dealing with the loss of her first true love. She is studying culinary at one of the best schools in Chicago. When she is accepted for an internship that will change her life in more ways than one.
Drake *swoon* oh yes Drake Stagliano is a powerful ladies man. "And mostly, he is incredibly intimidating. And hot." Needless to say he commands attention from all the ladies, but has eyes for only one. And boy does it make for some steamy hot moments in the kitchen. I mean if you can't take the heat, there is always the walk-in freezer! :)
Michael is Molly's best friend and is priceless to her. He is a big player, but he is very gay and proud. <3 He has been around to help with Molly's daughter Stella, since he is a writer he has the flexibility to fill in where needed.
Travis is a sweetheart with a son about Stella's age. We meet him breaking Molly's phone, going to the museum, and then in class. (can you say stalker? LOL) But he isn't stalking Molly, its just amazing fate or luck as you prefer to call it. And he is smitten with Molly and is an amazing cooking partner.
During the course of her internship we discover Molly is clumsy, observant, focused, and learning to love again. It's a deliciously sweet romance with a few sour notes to give it complexity. The desire Drake and Molly share is off the menu and totally appealing to read.
The uniqueness of this book can be seen with the family time moments and you cant help but love some "String Cheese and Olives" or "Pickles and Yogurt." <3 Oh to be a kid again! Seriously!
A must read....can't wait to get into book two "Kitchen Scandals"

I bought this book because it was $.99!! I mean who doesn't love a book that is $.99? Brooke touches on a subject that is more common that we know. No not the rich and famous, the employee falls for the employer. I read some of the reviews to get what people had thought of the book before I read the book. Some of the reviews that I had read stated that they couldn’t follow the story at all, they felt that it was too jumpy and didn’t make any sense. Well, I felt like I was reading (or watching cuz I have a very active imagination) a Quentin Tarantino script/movie/book. It flowed very well and it made sense when there were flash backs. This is not a slam on Brooke at all, I love anything that Tarantino does. You have to have flashbacks in the book so you can understand where Molly is coming from and why she is the way that she is. Molly has a heart that is full of love, but she is very guarded about who she gives it to. She has known what it feels like to lose someone that you love. Drake has a reputation that precedes him, and Molly knows who is he is; she has done her homework. Yet, she feels something for him. Drake is the same way, he’s done his homework on Molly and knows she is different that all the others. The love that Brooke has put into the book just flows off of the pages. There is passion and love. A love that is epic. I did get upset and started yelling at the book that Molly was being stupid and not thinking. But that was very short lived. There is tons of hot, steamy sex in this book, it just shows that the two characters are very much into each other, like they are teenagers in high school that can’t keep their hands off each other. Brooke is a fantastic writer and I can’t wait to read more of her work!!

I hate it when I can't finish a book and I have to admit I was disappointed I couldn't finish this one. I got 70% of the way through before I eventually gave up. The only reason I made it as far as I did was because of the reviews left on here that I had read. So many people were raving about what a good book it is and I admit that the description also pulled me in.
However I could only read so much before I realized that after reading 70%, how much better could it get with only 20% to go? I found myself with whiplash at how fast paced this book was. There was really no back story as to how the characters first met one another and then they go from "oh he is so hot" to "I think I love him" in a heartbeat. I also didn't feel any connection with the characters. I especially didn't feel any sympathy for Molly about her fiance dying and I blame that in part on how the topic seemed to be kind of dismissed in the beginning, it was almost like "Oh I am not married but I wear my engagement ring to remind me that the man I loved died"
In the end this wasn't the book for me. I am one who loves steamy, descriptive love scenes and this book was seriously lacking in that department. Aside from the first encounter the rest were rushed by. I don't want to read that Drake touched/kissed her all over for hours, I want to know what he actually did. With those types of books being the ones that I love the most and with this book lacking the one thing I do enjoy (aside from a really good story and character depth) I just couldn't continue to read it anymore.
Hopefully one day I will come back to this book and finish it, but I really think that will only happen if I don't have any other books in my "to read" pile.
