18-year old Paige Rice, an exquisite beauty from East Hampton, NY, has just celebrated her high school graduation and is expecting to spend her summer living it up with all her socialite friends. But her parents have a different idea – she is being hauled away-literally- to the mountains of Vermont for the entire summer- in an RV!
Assuming she will be an outcast amongst the other teens at the campground still does not prepare her for the treatment she receives, which is far worse than she imagined. She also isn’t prepared for Travis, the campground owner’s son and the “Sexiest” guy she has ever laid eyes on. Travis is the only one who shows any interest in getting to know Paige. The only problem is that they have to explore what lies between them in secret. But once all the secrets are stripped away, the truth may be crushing.

This book had a ton of potential. The actual writing is good, from a technical perspective, and the flow is pretty steady without many bumps. What failed for me are the story arcs and some pretty hefty character flaws, which I will break down.

The synopsis for this book is pretty spot on, so I won't waste any time recapping and instead get right to the meat of the story. Paige is the protag for this book and when we meet her she's just graduated from high school and, against her will, is heading off into the wild blue yonder of Vermont with her parents whose marriage seems to be on the verge of failing. The reader is offered this information, almost as an afterthought, and the particular story arc is never fully fleshed out - though it should have been because it would have added a layer of depth that was altogether missing from this story.

Upon arrival to their campsite, Paige encounters Travis, the owner's son and soon becomes smitten. And this, my friends, is where things get wonky. You see, Travis feels the same way. Cool, huh? Hot guy, lots of empty woods to explore, a gorgeous lake... hmmm, sexy set-up here. Only, Travis wants to keep their budding relationship on the DL from his tight group of friends who also summer at this campsite. So, what that immediately says to me is: A) he's either ashamed of you, Paige; or B) he's got a girlfriend, you dumbass. Huge red flag. Only, after just a smidge of suspicion, Paige goes along with the clandestine relationship and the two begin to fall in love (way too quickly, BTW). In addition to the "secret relationship" aspect of things, Travis allows his friends (the nasty girls, of course) to belittle and torment Paige without defending her. There's always some B.S. excuse as to why he can't get involved. Yet he has no trouble cornering her in a laundry room to kiss her senseless.

There are signs aplenty popping up all over the place. Things that come up which would have sent me running. For instance, there's a scene at the lake fairly early on, Paige is there on the beach relaxing when the Travis and his friends show up. He doesn't acknowledge her presence, won't even make eye contact, and, again, after a brief hint of irritation on Paige's part, he sweet talks his way back into her good graces. Huh? This is where I lose all respect for our protag.

The supposed mystery only deepens over time as Paige is slowly ingratiated into the group. All the clues are there, vital pieces of information are revealed and yet, Paige, our resident idiot, doesn't have the intellect to ask the burning questions. It's at this point I totally check out. I mean, this chick got into Columbia University, which denotes a certain level of intellect on her part, yet her deductive reasoning skills suck ass. Travis is lying you dipshit and even I knew that at about the 20% mark.

Eventually the truth comes out in dramatic fashion.

Once the secret it out it amazes me how easily things are resolved.

Some other issues that arose are pet peeves of mine. Literally, practically everyone in this novel is either going to NYU or Columbia University. Um, no. These schools are incredibly difficult to get into and the statistical likelihood of this happening is nill. In addition, there are some tense issues where it's unclear whether the narrative is past or present. Also, the use of "than" as opposed to "then" pops up a few times and totally made me grumpy. The use of exclamation marks was jarring, as was the amount of winking that happened. It began to feel like these people were afflicted with Tourette's. In short, this book needed a way better edit for grammatical and integrity sake.

In addition, I'm not certain why, but rape has been coming up a lot these days in the Y/A & N/A I've been reading. If you've read my reviews, then you know my thoughts on how it needs to be handled so I won't waste your time or mine recapping. So, here we are again, talking about rape. Or almost rape, in this case. And AGAIN, it's sort of skirted and not taken very seriously. It's clear from the scene set-up that one of the secondary characters was on the verge of being violated when Paige steps in and saves the day. And the response...?? Yep, they deliver the would be rapist to his daddy for a stern talking to. Ladies, here's the thing, rape is not okay. Neither is any sexually motivated assault. Just because someone doesn't manage to commit the actual offense, does not mean the intent wasn't there. Call the police, that's why they get paid. Suggesting anything different is outrageous and pure negligence on the part of the author. As a writer targeting a certain audience, in this instance female young/new adults, it seems imprudent to suggest that this type of situation isn't incredibly serious. In so many instances lately, I've witnessed the protags simply shrug off this kind of assault and life simply seems to carry on as normal. Excuse me?

In any event, that's my rant. I think maybe with some work this author has potential and I wouldn't be adverse to reading her work again. I'd actually like to see where she goes from here as I think, overall, she showed some promise. I just think that this particular book was a dud and that she should have worked harder on character development. It would have made the difference and may have made all the lying and sneaking more palatable if the characters were less flat and I was able to empathize with them more.

Okay so this review is going to be harsh so I have to say that first and foremost. I do not want to upset anyone but I had a few problems with this story and I want to make it clear that I LOVED this story but there is a lot wrong with this story.

Paige is your typical 18 year old senior who has just graduated from high school and is planning on spending her summer living it up before she starts college in the fall. But her parents have a different idea in mind. See her parents want some quality family time together so they go off to Vermont in an RV to a campground where they will spend the summer.

Paige is pissed off to say the least because she does not want to spend the summer camping or at some campground where she knows no one. What is even worse is when she gets there to the campground and she finds teens her own age there she is treated like an outcast and even worse sometimes. Then she meets Travis the campground owner's son and she is smitten right away. He is gorgeous and takes her breath away. To her surprise Travis is the only one who talks to her and wants to spend time with her. As they get to know each other Travis tells her he wants to have a relationship with her and keep it on the down low. Okay you seeing the red flags here with that statement? Paige agrees and they have a secret relationship on the side when no one is looking. But when Travis is with his friends he treats her like crap and ignores her.

So here is where I am going to go into my rant and a rant it is because I have a daughter and I told her when she starts dating if the guy wants to hide the relationship say HELL NO because something is just not right. So Travis is all lovey dovey with Paige in private but when he is around her friends he acts like a douche bag. And HELLO Paige but get some self esteem because she stays with him and forgives him for being a tool towards her and I am reading and screaming at the book because I dare a guy to treat me that way and I say sure honey it is okay. Hell to the fu&^%$# NO! I would open a can of WHIP A$$ and he would know not to mess with me but no Paige just accepts it and then she finds out he has a girlfriend and she was just the side chick. WTF?????????? Enough with the ranting because I know you know where I am going with this but dam Travis made Christian Grey look like a saint! Get the point.... good :)

Read more of my reviews at Nick's Book Blog.

It's been almost 2 months since I've read Inspire and at this point, I'm not quite sure about my feelings for it. So for this review, I'm going to highlight what the positives were for me versus what the negatives were.

Positives
1. The main character
Paige wasn't one of those main characters who acted like she didn't know she was beautiful, but everyone else around her thinks she's an angel sent from heaven. No, she knew exactly how gorgeous she was and she wasn't afraid to flaunt it. I also liked her attitude to the mean girls at the camp who treated her with disrespect out of jealousy. She dealt with it beautifully, with her head high, not letting the mean girls get under her skin. I will admit that neither her nor any of the other characters were fleshed out enough for my liking.

2. The love interest in the first half of the book
Travis might have had that whole bad-boy tattoos thing going on for him, but he was a really sweet guy in the beginning and I really enjoyed his character. He was caring, down-to-earth and seemed like a fun guy. But my opinion of him changed in the second half of the book when his secret was revealed.

3. The camp setting
I'm not the most outdoorsy person. I don't hike, go camping or whatever. I'm just not suited to the outside because if I do one of those activities, I always end up with a broken arm or something. But I do wish I wasn't so prone to accidents. I love camp settings in books, so I can live vicariously through fictional characters. The author did a good job at describing the background and the different camp activities, so I really liked that part.

4. The main character's relationship with her mother
Although this mother-daughter relationship wasn't as developed as I wanted it to be, I loved the nature of the relationship. Paige and her mom had a beautiful relationship with trust playing a big role in it. She shared her secrets, crushes and insecurities with her mom. I loved how they would chat about gorgeous boys together and laugh about it. So often in New Adult, the characters' relationships with their parents are so strained. Hence, I was pleased by the portrayal of a mother-daughter relationship that didn't have anything negative about it.

Negatives
1. Cheating
If you have been following my reviews for a while, you already know how much I despise cheating in my books. Halfway through the book, when Travis and Paige were in the middle of a relationship, we find out that he had a girlfriend. Even though Travis and Paige don't have sex, I couldn't stand the idea of him cheating. I did like Paige's reaction to his cheating though : she broke up with him.

2. The love interest in the second half of the book
I knew Travis was hiding something from the beginning, but he was such a sweet-heart, so I never thought he would actually indulge in cheating. Because of that, I ended up really disliking his character by the end of the book. He also came up with some lame excuse for cheating on his girlfriend, which I did not appreciate at all. What's even worse to me than cheating is justifying cheating with some excuse. I also didn't like how Paige forgave him for his cheating after the truth came out.

Overall
I would have liked this book a lot better had there been no cheating involved. This is more of a personal preference, so if are tolerant towards cheating in your books, you might enjoy this title more.

“Paige, you have inspired me to love fully and every day you inspire me to be a better man, and you will always own my heart.

I'm really having trouble gathering my thoughts together to say what I want to say about this book. I had a real love/frustration going on with these characters throughout the whole book. One minute I liked them, then I was confused by something they did, then I couldn't understand them, then I was frustrated with them and questioning whether I liked them, only to find my self back to liking them again.

Eighteen year old Paige Rice is in the summer before she heads off to college when her Mum and Dad come up with the plan to go camping for the summer. The last thing Paige wants is to be away from her friends and her crush while they're all having fun and she is stuck off in some camp ground with only her parents for company. She expects to be an outsider with all the regular teenage campers but what she isn't prepared for is their complete and total animosity. Or the fact that she's just laid eyes on the most gorgeous and sexy guy she's ever seen.

Travis Medler is the son of the camping grounds owners and the only one who tries to get to know Paige. Their attraction to each other sees them quickly fall into a relationship, but Travis suggests that they keep it quiet so that the other girls at the campground don't give Paige even more of a hard time. Paige loves the time that they spend together and agrees that keeping things just between them is for the best. But is Travis being completely honest with Paige? What will happen when the secrets find the light of day? Will Paige and Travis be able to salvage their relationship?

I really enjoyed the story that Heather Buchine has created. It was a quick and fun read with plenty of heat and angst to keep the story interesting. It was with the characters where my frustrations lie. As I said earlier, I had a real up and down thing happening with them. When it was just Travis and Paige together, for the most part they were perfect. They were pretty hot and heavy with each other, but there were also moments of sweetness. Add in other people and that's where the problems occurred. There were times when Travis ignored Paige in front of his friends and no matter how much Paige begged for them to be a couple around those friends, Travis kept coming up with excuses why they needed to keep their relationship hidden. And for the most part Paige went along with it. I wanted to throttle her!! But she wasn't just forgiving of Travis, I think that's just her nature because she was sweet and kind to everyone.

The epilogue left me with a whole lot of questions so I'm assuming that there is another book to come. I will definitely be picking that up for a read because above all, I did enjoy the authors writing.

3.5/5 Stars.

From my blog.

**ARC provided by author for an honest review**

“What’s the frown for? You heard your mom; YOU are going to have a fabulous time. Playing on the playground and listening to ghost stories around the campfire, hanging out with all of the other ‘camp kids’!” she teased.

Paige's summer after high school graduation is so not what she wanted it to be. Instead of spending her summer with her friends, she has to go CAMPING with her PARENTS. I know it's kind of my worst nightmare... And I basically the same age as Paige since I'm graduating in two months.

When I read the blurb, I immediately remembered all of those crazy daydreams I used to have about travelling with my family around the country (Estonia, where I live, is literally SUPERSMALL, so it's like I've been to everywhere because we travel around every summer...) and meeting my THE ONE. Yep, I know I've always been the romantic daydreamer and nothing anyone says or does is going to change that. But actually what I wanted to say was that this book just put everything I'd dreamed into words.

The beginning was kind of so-so. Since I had promised to write a review, I just kept going, but I wasn't exactly impressed. Boy, I was glad I continued reading. It may have not been one of the most memorable books I've ever read, but I had so much fun while I did. But it wasn't just marshmallows and summer flirting. There was actually a pretty shocking twist I didn't see coming. Don't ask me why because ALL the signs were there. I guess I just didn't believe it would happen...

What made it all even better was that Paige reminded me a lot of ME. She's a dancer. A choreographer. We're practically the same ;). Well, at least we are kindred souls. It made cheering her on even easier.

Lol, I have one more summer break ahead of me. Maybe my 'the one' will come this year? I certainly want a story like that...

Should you read it? I think it's a great summer read for an audience about my age (I'm 18, by the way). Younger readers should be aware that it has some content that is not suitable for you and a lot older readers will probably find it a bit 'young'. However, go ahead and read it.

¡Gracias, Heather!

My rating for this book is 2.0 stars.

Inspire was a sweet, romantic story of young love and a summer romance to last a lifetime. It was a quick, easy read and the plot flowed really well. The characters were likable and I quite enjoyed reading it.

Paige is on her way to college in the fall so her parents decide to drag her to the mountains of Vermont for a summer RV trip. She is less than thrilled to spend her summer away from her friends and in the middle of nowhere. However, her first day there she meets Travis, the son of the campground owners, and there is an instant connection. The more time they spend getting to know eachother, the harder they fall. However, there’s a secret hanging between them and when it comes out it may be impossible to get over.

I liked Paige and the fact that she wasn’t a spoiled rich girl, which she had the potential to be. She was very charitable and not judgemental at all. Even though Travis was from money like she was, it isn’t evident by looking at him and she never thought twice about getting to know or fall for him. She was so trusting and maybe a little naïve. Even though the other girls at the camp shunned her at first, she was still kind to them and helped them when they needed her.

Travis is down to earth, sweet and seems like a total package. He comes from money like Paige, but you would never know by his attitude and his hard work ethic. He went through a rebel stage and is all tattooed up so he is definitely the type to be judged even though he shouldn’t be. I really liked Travis and I could tell his feelings for Paige were real and genuine. That is what made his betrayal so much harder to take. I never expected this from Travis and I was honestly surprised.

I actually really enjoyed the plot of Inspire and the way the story flowed smoothly. It was a light fun read about young romance and I was able to get into it easily. Travis and Paige definitely had chemistry and I really liked them together. However, Travis wanted to keep it a secret and at first it didn’t seem like a big deal since some of the girls were less than friendly with Paige. However, as the girls softened to Paige and became friendly with her, it was clear that Travis was hiding something because he didn’t want to go public with Paige. When the truth came out, my heart broke for Paige. She was so in love with Travis and she felt betrayed. I was definitely disappointed in Travis myself but in the end he did prove himself to Paige and me as well.

While I really enjoyed this book and it was easy to get into and read, I did have a few issues. I am not a big fan of insta-love and this book definitely had it. Travis and Paige were saying “I love you” and declaring love for each other after 2 dates and that was way too fast for me. While they spent a lot of time getting to know each other and connecting in those few days, they still moved way too quickly in my opinion. Also, I thought that the quick turnaround of the other girls in camp was a little unrealistic. One minute they are being snotty bitches to Paige and the next minute they are spilling their secrets to her like best friends. I felt like it would take a little more time to change their attitudes. Despite these small issues, I really enjoyed Inspire and I look forward to reading Britney’s story in Forgiveness.

I thought Inspire by Heather Buchine had some potential in the beginning and I was looking forward to where the story was going to take me. However, I was massively disappointed by this one. It was an ok read, but I had so many issues with it that couldn’t be ignored.

Let's start with Paige. She wasn’t really all that special, to be honest. I thought she lacked some personality and backbone. She did have some appealing things about her, like how she wasn’t just a rich spoiled girl, built up her own charity to help those in need and how she was friendly even when others were being mean to her. Don’t get me wrong, these are good qualities. I didn’t not like Paige, she just wasn’t a character I cared for and that was hard considering she narrated the entire book.

The second problem I had with this book was the romance. Or maybe I should say the insta-love. I thought it was good until feelings were happening not three days of meeting. Then they were in a relationship five days in with Paige thinking about being in love with Travis already. No, just no. It was way too fast. To add to this, their romance was so not convincing. It basically felt forced to me. I couldn’t believe they had such an easy connection to the point where they were spilling secrets on what they considered was their first date. I don’t know about Paige or Travis, but I wouldn’t be spilling personal stuff to someone I just met two-three days ago. It just didn’t seem realistic at all.

The plot of this book was just not all I thought it would be. There was not much build-up, excitement or even tension. Not much happened besides Paige and Travis falling in love so quickly. The drama that did happen between Paige and the other girls at the camp were more annoying than anything else. I think the other girl’s individual drama were more exciting than Paige’s drama. It just wasn’t enough to give this book the boost it needed. The romance basically overshadowed everything in this book. Paige and Travis were already in love that by the time Travis’ secret and deception came out, I wasn’t all that surprised (since I already suspected beforehand) nor did I really care that Paige was hurt in the end. I was more irritated by the fact that Paige allowed Travis to keep their relationship a secret in the first place. I was even more horrified that the whole deception thing was forgiven by Paige in such a short amount of time. I just don’t think any of Travis’ reasonings justified the lies and secrecy.

My other problem was the writing. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t all that great either. There wasn’t a nice flow to the book. The writing was just choppy and affected the way I read. The dialogue between the characters didn’t feel natural either. Especially with Travis, his dialogue was cheesy and didn’t make him sound authentically male at all. Another thing was the excessive giggling in this book. I think every female character giggled at something that was probably not even that funny to begin with and I rolled my eyes every single time.

Overall, Inspire was just not a book I particularly enjoyed all that much. It may have had some shining moments tossed in here or there, but the problems I had drowned those out completely.

Confession time. I have a soft spot for teen 80s and 90s movies. And I may know most of them word for word. No one did teen angst like John Hughes. So why am I bringing that up here? Because I felt like I was reading one of those movies when I read this book – and I loved every single bit of it!

I have been reading some pretty serious and heart-wrenching books lately – ones that took a lot out of me emotionally, which isn’t a bad thing, but it’s been exhausting! So when I started this book, it was such a refreshing change. There is no dark, twisted subject matter that makes you uncomfortable. There are no characters with horrible demons that they need to overcome. This book dealt with typical teenage problems. It was perfect and exactly what I needed!

Hot, tattooed guy with a heart of gold? Check. Mean girls? Check. Summer at a campground with parents before you go off to college? Check. Typical arrogant hot guy? Check. Loyal best friend? Check.

Paige is probably one of my favorite female characters that I’ve ever read about. She may be privileged, but she cares about people and goes above and beyond to give back to her community – and not just so it looks good on her college application. She is normal, not pretentious or materialistic – although she does have an appreciation for nice things – and has a quiet strength about her. She doesn’t let her emotions completely rule her and she is able to rationalize situations without being stubborn about things. She also is a bit sassy at times as well. I never had a problem with her throughout the entire book. She was just a pretty awesome girl.

Travis is equally as fabulous. From the minute Paige met him, he was always very polite and courteous – never being rude, especially when the girls in his group were snarky towards her. He also wasn’t a complete sleaze ball and didn’t immediately start trying to make a move on Paige either. The more I got to know about him, the more I liked him – except for the fact that he wanted to keep Paige a secret.

“You can have a few more days, but in the meantime you are not allowed to touch me. As long as everyone thinks that we are just friends, we are going to behave like friends.”

The thing about Travis and Paige that I like the most was that they weren’t perfect. They were normal – just like any teenager on the verge of starting college. They both had insecurities and got jealous. They both let their hormones rule their emotions at times. They both handled situations in less than perfect ways.

“Paige, you have inspired me to love fully and every day you inspire me to be a better man, and you will always own my heart.”

This story played out in such a satisfying way – there was just enough romance, angst, secrets, and sexiness to cover all the bases. Was the storyline somewhat predictable? Yea, sure. Was some of it a bit cliché? Yea, maybe. But I didn’t care. I still absolutely adored this book.

This is the perfect book to read if you are looking for a fun, light-hearted book about two teens who meet at a campground during one summer. This is a stand alone – you get to see Paige’s complete story in this book. However, the author is currently working on a second book about a secondary character and I’m hoping my favorite pixie will be making some guest appearances as well!

Paige, oh Paige. Girlfriend, I have some advice for you. Don't let any guy--no matter how hot or how inked he is--let him treat you the way Travis did. You are a rich girl from the Hamptons and don't need a relationship with a guy who is nice to you when you're alone but when he's with his friends, acts cold. Unless his name is Jekyll or Hyde, keep those eyes open.

Okay, got that out. Inspire is a new New Adult title by Heather Buchine featuring the typical NA couple of hot girl and hot guy. Paige has graduated high school and instead of spending her last summer enjoying the time with her friends, she's stuck in a RV with her parents at a Vermont campsite. It's great to reconnect with her usually-busy parents but there's not much of a social scene. Paige meets Travis, the gorgeous son of the camp's owner and the attraction is immediate and reciprocated. Travis' circle of friends, particularly the girls, don't care for Paige with her blond hair and great bod. When Travis shows interest, he's really nice but-yes, there seems to a frequent "but" in these situations-he wants to keep their relationship 'secret.'

If that was me, I would have told my dad thanks for the great attempt at family bonding but I'm taking the car and driving back to the Hamptons. Then there wouldn't be a story. In Heather's defense she did find his behavior strange. And then she continued to meet with him and have some sexy make-out scenes too. Paige is portrayed as a 'good girl' with a keen sense of intimacy. I did wonder about the conflict. The story seemed to be light in this department. We get a good sense of who Paige is and her interactions with her parents. The mean girls at the camp do some things but nothing major. It's the way Travis acts and treats Paige which is front and center in this story. I couldn't believe a girl like Paige would that naive about a guy, despite the chemical attraction. She found out from her best friend that the guy she's been crushing on for two years asked about her back home and then she gets ticked off at this guy named Corey at the water rafting place when he literally eyef***ks her both when she arrives and when she departs. The girl is not stupid so I couldn't really wrap my mind around her actually condoning Travis. This is the main reason I couldn't rate the story higher than I did.

As the summer passes by and Paige spends more time with Travis, alone, she does wonder about Travis' motives. There is conflict, an aggressive act, and we figure out why Travis has acted in a certain way. I enjoyed reading Inspire and NA fans may want to add this to their TBR list.

I loved the message that inspire sent. The characters were, for the most part, really good people and they were trying to make a difference. The plot of Inspire was also interesting. It fits perfectly within the New Adult age group. All of the characters were ready to start college and they had one last summer of fun. So they were a bit on the younger end of the New Adult books, but they all seemed pretty mature.

Paige is the main character and she is such a sweetheart. Honestly, she seems like the nicest girl alive. I can certainly see how some people would describe her as too perfect- super smart, super pretty, very kind, forgiving and generous. But there is just something about her that even though she seems too good to be true, you just can't help but love her. I would have liked to have seem a little more fault in her, but overall I really liked her character. I loved getting to know her through her dance charity that her and her best friend started up. And I really liked seeing her dancing worked in throughout the story.

Paige's parents are very well off, and for her last summer before college they decide to buy an RV and go camping for two months. While they are camping Paige meets a whole group of guys and girls at the RV campsite that are her age and about to head off to college too. At first she has some trouble winning over the girls in the group, but then an "incident" occurs and the girls bond over that. After the incident all of the girls are very close. I wish there would have been a little bit more of a middle ground for the girls in the group. Meaning, I would have liked to see a slow build of their friendship instead of one minute they actively disliked Paige and the next they act like they have been best friends for years. But nonetheless, Ashley and Brittany did seem to be good friends to Paige in the end.

The romance in this story is all over the place. It had me swooning over Travis, and the next minute questioning his motives. I liked him, and then I didn't trust him, and then I liked him again. I loved that about it. Some parts of the book were predictable but others totally threw me for a loop. Inspire kept me on my toes the whole time I was reading it. And the romance between Paige and Travis was H-O-T, hot for sure.

Overall, Inspire was a fun and heck I'm just going for it- inspiring read. There are some darker moments and some dark themes, but even so Inspire seemed like a pretty light, happy go lucky book. One you can just pick up and down in one or two sittings. There were some cliche parts for sure, but I didn't mind that. I still really liked the book. I found the characters very well developed and the story was really cute. If you are looking for a nice summer read, Inspire would be a good choice.

4 stars- Sweet, cute & all inspiring fun read! This brought me back to a simply time of summer camping, your first love and girlie drama. It's a perfect summer read.

"There are two exits in the front, two exits in the middle of the main cabin and one in the rear of the plane. In the event of an emergency...." I stopped my hand gestures and my soft melodic voice. "Or in the event that your parents decide to hold you captive for the summer, push everyone out of your way and run like hell to the nearest exit." Paige Rice

Paige Rice is an 18 year old who just graduated from High School. Instead of living it up for the summer with her friends like she had planned. Her parents decided they had other plans which included some quality family time traveling via RV to camp in Vermont for the summer. Leaving her best friend Tracey behind and the boy Jared she has had a crush on for the last 2 1/2 years. She is not the least bit happy about spending her summer camping out where she doesn't know a soul. Soon after there long arrival she meets Travis Medler the owners son of the campgrounds. He is tall dark, tattooed, very smart & grounded young man. Travis is the only person who pays any attention to Paige at all. His friends treat her as if she is an outcast. Relationships are made, tested, and will to many secrets being kept brake her first love?

What can I say about this book. It is for sure inspiring. Filled with fun, adventure, memories & of course don't forget the hot guys. I really enjoyed Paige's character. She was a strong young girl who was down right rational almost always keeping a cool head. She never really let her emotions take over through rough situations. Travis was sweet, full of life and to secretive. Even though some parts were very predictable there were others that weren't. Which balanced it out for me. Tracey was the best friend any girl wants and she was so loyal. I just loved her. Pri*Tee Pixes Giving Organization- Wow, to take a young girl who was inspiring to help others was really heartfelt to read about. She never took what she had for granted & getting to know more about how it came about was really amazing. "Paige, you inspired me to love fully and every day you inspire me to be a better man, and you will always own my heart." Travis
I recommend this to anyone who loves 80's movies, young romance, and just a sweet story line. <3

This book started really strong, I loved it and I wanted to read more of these characters. But then it went downhill for me. The middle was rather boring and I found myself skipping a few things. I just wanted the story to move forward.

I liked Paige and Travis, in general. But at the end of the day, they had a lot of flaws that I just couldn’t overlook. Paige came out as a doormat and for a girl that was heading to Columbia, she could be pretty dumb. Also, she has pretty much no self-respect. I mean, this guy is hiding you from his friends. No matter the reason, stand up to yourself and don’t allow that. Period.

Then there is Travis. The guy was hot and could be pretty cute at times, but the whole secret thing just disappointed me. No matter the reason, you don’t do that shit. Sorry, but no.

I also felt the attraction between Travis and Paige happened too fast. They met and fell in love in just a couple of weeks, and by then they were each other’s IT people. I wanted to see a little more progression in their relationship, not just stolen moments. They had deep conversations to get to know each other, but we were just told that happened, so I guess they connected.

The ending was kinda weird. Not bad, but it left a few loose ends and, to be honest, I have no idea why they were put there (What was happening with the tattoo parlor? And what about Britney?). It seems there will be a sequel (I could be really wrong about this); if there is, I hope there is resolution to these things.

Additionally, I found that there was an overuse of exclamation points. I mostly overlooked them, but when it comes before a ‘he whispered’, it was hard to look the other way.

I felt this book had a lot of potential, the story wasn’t bad at all, I just think it was missing something to be great. I’ll still check out the author in the future.

I really loved the idea of a rich chick roughing it for a summer in an RV. I loved the idea of said chick discovering romance at a campground even more.

In Inspire, Paige is forced to travel from her mansion in East Hampton, NY to a campground in Vermont for the summer before she starts college. She's not exactly thrilled with the idea, but appreciates that this time together could be good for her and her parents. Once there, she meets Travis - and his awful, nasty friends. When a romance strikes up between Paige and Travis, Paige couldn't be happier about it. Except Travis seems determined to keep it a secret from everyone else.

As mentioned, the campground atmosphere was my favorite part of Inspire. Buchine captured the feel of it perfectly. I could almost smell the burning wood and taste the s'mores. It was the first book I've ever read that took place almost entirely while camping (and not like sleep-away camp - REAL campground camping with RVs and tents and bath houses and such). Authors, take note of this unexplored backdrop!

Sadly, that is where my infatuation ends. I had a really, really hard time relating to the characters in Inspire. Paige was, simply put, too good to be true. She was kind, sweet, and polite to everyone, even the mean girls at the campground who treated her like crap. She runs her own charity with her best friend and likes to spend her spare time working for soup kitchens. She's willing to give up her own happiness just to protect the feelings of someone she doesn't even know. She has a perfect relationship with her parents, only lying to them about the teeny tattoo she got on her hip. And, in the fall she is starting at an Ivy League school. I'm sorry, but NO 18-year-old - male or female - is that... good.

Most of the time, the dialog didn't read like 18-year-olds to me. Especially Paige, Travis and Paige's best friend Tracey - they used words and colloquialisms that most teenagers don't use. Instead, they read like a bunch of 30-year-olds trying unsuccessfully to sound like teenagers. So, this made it even harder for me to relate to them as believable characters.

Although there is no cliffhanger in Inspire, events happen (very randomly, I might add) at the very end of the book that set things up for the next book in the series. I hope it takes place at Willow Falls Campground again.

The writing was good enough for a first book and that is the only reason I am giving this book 2 stars, because when it comes to the story and it's characters itself the book is seriously lacking.

The blurb is spot on. This is the story of Paige and Travis, 2 teenagers who are spending the summer with their parents before moving to the university. Since the beginning they have some chemistry and decide to pursue their relationship, but Travis asks Paige to maintain the relationship a secret. Three lines into my review and you are probably thinking: in secret? why? is he embarrassed of her or does he have a girlfriend?
Because, you know... those are the logical questions any person would ask themselves. Any person, besides our " heroine", of course.

This situation goes on for weeks and on top of that every time his friends are mean to her, he does nothing which to me amounts as being treated as dirt. He is full of excuses, but you would have to be 14 to believe them. Have I mentioned that Paige is going to Columbia? So if you thought that to get into a elite university intelligence was a requirement, you will have your doubts after reading this book.

So Paige is a naive doormat, Travis is not only a liar but someone who doesn't respect Paige even as a friend, the secondary characters are blah... so why did I finish reading this book, which had be annoying me since its 30%? Obviously, because I wanted to read the final confrontation.

So if you are reading this book and you are annoyed and looking for the final confrontation and posterior reconciliation, let me spell it for you: don't waste your time!

Paige acts like a doormat, the author desperate to give us a reason to forgive Travis and make us supporting of his behavior throws us a sappy excuse. I didn't care a bit for the excuse because Travis had weeks to come clean (and he does forced by the circumstances, not even on his own accord) or at least treat Paige as a friend but he did not. He was just an egoist ass/hole.

Teenagers should only read this as a manual of what not to do and put up with in a relationship.

The story takes us along with 18 year old Paige on her summer long vacation to Vermont. Paige is a lovely character with a big heart. She is very easy to like and I quickly found myself agreeing with her best friend Tracey that her long time crush Jared was a complete idiot for not asking her out.

Her parents are trying to re-kindle their marriage and although camping in an RV is a first for this wealthy family, Paige puts a smile on her face and is ready to make the best of it enjoying activities such as ‘tubing’ on the river and lots of roasting marshmallows around the camp fire.

The teenage group at the campsite have known each other for years and many are paired off as couples. The girls take an immediate dislike to beautiful Paige and the boys of course think she’s hot! After failed attempts to make friends with the gang, Paige is resigned to the fact she will have a boring lonely summer and puts all her focus on the choreography of a dance to raise funds for the charitable organisation she runs with Tracey.

In steps hunky, hot as hell, tattooed 19 year old son of the camp ground owners Travis. As her flirting is returned tenfold by Travis who is instantly attracted to Paige, their romance blossoms and temperatures certainly rise over the summer as they get to know each other in every hot steamy way.

Although they are very open and emotionally connected, Travis wants to keep their romance a secret which causes endless heartache for Paige, especially when she is being subjected to cruel practical jokes at the hands of Ashley one of the girls in the teenage gang.

The characters are really well written and great insight is given into the reasons behind their behaviour. Eventually Ashley sees Paige for the wonderful caring mature and loyal young lady she is and I was willing things to work out for Paige with Travis.

I love a happy ending and INSPIRE certainly delivers.

An intriguing romantic story that flows perfectly and has characters with beautiful souls.
It’s Super Sweet, Really Romantic, Sensationally Sexy and Highly Recommended!

Really I consider to this history a history zigzag, it is like like one rises and goes down.
For moments it kept me entertaining, and for others he bored me very much, doing that skips some parts.
I believe that great part of the failure an hour to be kept kept woman is the "Childish" that exists for moments.
The personality of the prominent figures is not bad, though Travis, on having known it, is almost perfect, anything that is not very near to the reality of the daily life. Bony, it seems to me to be marvellous that is so sweet and intelligent, but I do not stop becoming convinced with this personality.
In personality of Peige it is really difficult, for my, his personage judges. For moments I found her out of everything what was showing off to the beginning of the history, that is to say, it does not stop closing the girl's image of good whereas his thoughts are purely sexual opposite to Travis.
Sincerely, it is a history that can be read and for moments it will entertain you, but it neither is so clear nor catches.
.
.

*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Thank you!*

I really enjoyed reading “Inspire”.It’s a perfect read for summer. With its pros and cons, “Inspire” is a great book with a lot of potentional.

Let’s start with the pros.

Omg I loved the fact that Paige has no drama in her life. She has a happy life, her parents are happy, they get along really well and there is no depression. The same thing applies for Travis. No broken hearts. No hunting past. No demons. In fact, my favorite thing about this book is that it’s drama-free. It’s a very “light” book that warmed my heart.

Travis and Tracey are my favorit characters. Travis is very adorable, smart and has his feet on the ground. Tracey was the friend I’ve always wanted to have. Smart, protective, loyal, crazy and cute.

I liked that Paige knew how to stand for herself. Even though she angered me sometimes with her kindness and tendency to help even her enemies. I mean, seriously! Who tells her boyfriend to go back to his ex because she’s already broken? Let me tell you! No one!

The book is easy to read with a wonderful atmosphere. I loved the fact that the action is taking place in the woods. I’ve always wanted to go camping, but as a violinist, I can’t have too many holidays.

I really like the cover, but I don’t think that it matches the story. The story is very light, but the cover inspires me something dark.

Now, let’s move to the ons.

Somethings seemed really rushed. The dialogues seemed rushed and immature sometimes, without any deep meaning.

It would be great if “Inspire” could go through another round of editing. I found many punctuation mistakes and that gave me a feeling of cursoriness.

There’s little intrigue in this book. In fact, the only secret that this book held was Travis’s secret. And that’s it.

Overall, “Inspire” was a great book. I am glad I read it and I definitely recommend it.

Rate: 3.5 stars our of 5

If I had to find one word to describe this book I think I would go with sweet. Now that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have some very unsweet moments in it, because it sure as heck does, but the all-encompassing um, “ness” (wow, I am definitely a reader and not a writer!) that I would go with would be sweet.

The characters, for the most part, are sweet characters. Perhaps not at first and some have secrets that make them less than sweet for a bit of time but they really are mostly dripping with sweetness. That’s really not a bad thing or the book wouldn’t have gotten such a great rating! Sometimes it’s nice to read a book that just reads cleanly, keeps you interested, smoothly transitions, and leaves you feeling pretty darn good when if all wraps up nicely. I don’t want to give anything away so it’s hard to say more than that so I will not! Just that saying it’s sweet isn’t a bad thing, just a good description.

This book was fun to read. It did have some fairly graphic sexual encounters and the lead character seemed to be a bit more concerned with when the next one of these encounters was going to take place than the signs that perhaps her love interest was harboring quite the secret, but hey, 18 and in love is the age where such things do happen. Now I think that the camp that this takes place in is one that is for the more well to do of the world so that’s something I can’t personally relate to (even remotely!) but it was enjoyable reading about it! It’s fun seeing how the other half lives at times in the literary world.

All in all, I really enjoyed this book and the fun little story it told. The author is a very good writer and has a knack of creating a perfectly flowing story without a single hiccup to disturb the telling. It was hard to put the book down and a highly enjoyable to read.

I was looking forward to reading this book. A guy with tattoos...what's not to love. I'm sorry to say that even though I finished the book I just couldn't really get into it. I couldn't connect with the characters at all. I hate giving a negative review, I really do considering the time and effort that an author puts into a book. So here is me trying to be positive.

The book has a lot of potential. I think the writing overall was good. The plot was easy to follow and I understood the emotions of the characters. The problem is that there was nothing memorable about it. It's not a book that will stay with me for a few days. It had some problems.

Travis
The boy was hot. That's about all I can say for him. To many secrets. Even though I understand why it still didn't sit well with me. He may have been a good guy but I couldn't see it for the mess around him.

Paige
I'm sorry but this girl is STUPID. I don't care what college she was going to attend she's an idiot. I mean seriously! How many red flags do you need before you realize something isn't right?? She was childish, naive, and to forgiving! I just wanted to slap her and say, "wake up dummy!"

The ending was pointless in my opinion. When everything came to the end I was beyond the point of being pulled back in.

Like I said, the author has a lot of potential with this book. I wish several side stories would have been explained in the end. There were a ton of loose ends and I wanted to know what happened with these people. There was also a very unusual amount of ! marks. I mean every other sentence. Not every comment ends with an (!).

I was sad that this book couldn't hold my attention. That being said I would probably still read other books by the author.

Paige finds herself having to spend her last summer before college camping in an RV with her parents. She has to leave her friends back home, but luckily they'll all be reconvening in the fall when they attend college in New York. Paige doesn't seem too upset about the plans (not as upset as I would have been at that age), and things start looking up even more when she meets the gorgeous Travis, who is the campground owners' son.

Things are a little shaky in the beginning since the group of teenagers that Travis is friends with have all been coming to the campground for years. They are a tight group, and it's difficult for Paige to make friends at first. As a result of the pranks his friends keep playing on her, Travis and Paige embark on a secret affair. As the plot continues, we find out that there's more behind the sneaking around, but I'll leave it at that.

I enjoyed this story. It took me back to my teenage years and all the promise and excitement of a summer love. I think it's every girl's dream to meet a hunky guy while vacationing with her family. And I truly did like Paige and Travis.

If I had the option to rate books by the half star, I would give Inspire a 3.5. While I thought the story was very sweet, it could have benefited from another editing pass. But all in all, I thought it was enjoyable.
