A well-curated collection of women's thoughts on war. Due to the era, published 1988, there are many discussions and references to Star Wars and the Cold War problem, which is something I think my generation has been shielded from as we switch from the war on Communists to terrorists. Pieces do go back to Sappho, however, demonstrating that pacifism is nothing new. A nice mix of quotes, poetry, and longer excerpts prevents the reader from boredom as the theme can get tiresome over a few hundred pages. Of course, it may prove more useful as a source for quotes and arguments in a thesis than as a work to be read straight through and digested. Overall, quite well done, and worth reading a few pages a day.
