தமிழ்நாட்டின் 80% நிலப்பரப்பு மட்டுமே உள்ள, எந்த ஒரு வளமும் இல்லாது உலகின் 10% எரிமலைகளோடு வருடத்திற்கு 1500 பூகம்பங்களையும் சில சுனாமிகளையும் எதிர்த்துக்கொண்டு, அணுகுண்டுகலால் சாம்பலாக்கப்பட்போதும் ஃபீனிக்ஸ் பறைவைபோல் மீண்டெழுந்து ஒரு தீவு வல்லரசாகவும் ஆதிக்க சக்தியாகவும் திகழ்ந்த கதை தெரியுமா?
தொடக்ககாலம் முதல் இன்றைய நாள் வரை ஜப்பானின் வரலாற்றை எளிமையாக அறிமுகப் படுத்தும் புத்தகம் இது. பொருளாதார புள்ளிவிவரங்கள் இனைக்கப்பட்டு ஜப்பானின் வளர்ச்சியை எடுத்துக்காட்டுகளோடு சொல்லும் புத்தகம்.

The intent of me taking the book for reading was to know Japan and its history bit more. I always have great regard on japan, it was surprising for me on how big japan was in international stage, though being a small country prone to natural calamities. The answer for them are explained in a crisp manner in this book. A very informative book and a short one too.

I could not say the book is very balanced. Explaining with data points in flow of incidents is something very difficult to achieve but the author has succeeded to greater extent. We could understand the mentality of citizen and can find answers on why other country citizen have feeling of being followed always from the time they land on japan. It was though sad to know the last 20 - 30 years of japan, hoping for optimistic come back again.

Go for it, will be of great information. A must read for people who would want to know about japan and its history in detail.

I came to know about Japan s history from BC till 2010. It was lot of information given under 200 pages. Very good intro to people s thought process, their quest for quality and knowledge, how they could overcome the disaster caused by nature, world war II.
