Vermont's Irish Rebel
The story of Captain John Lonergan, in Irish immigrant to Vermont. He formed Vermont's Irish Company, Companmy A of the 13th Vermont Volunteer Infantry Regiment, to fight for the Union in the Civil War. Lonergan won the Congressional Medal of Honor at Gettysburg. He was a leader of the Fenian Brotherhood in Vermont and fought in the Irish invasions of Canada in 1866 and 1870.He died August 6, 1902.
