With lessons and lives of sacrifice and devotion behind her, Maya must continue the journey into her next incarnations as a young and passionate Lakota warrior on the Great American Plains; the dashing British spy Major John André, fighting the tide of a great revolution; and the desolate master of the macabre, Edgar Allan Poe.
Each life is touched with love but strained by unbearable grief. Maya must experience life’s most trying lesson…the devastation of loss.
Special Note: Infinite Loss is not a standalone; side effects of reading the series out-of-order include headache, confusion, and though extremely rare, disinterest in continuing the series.
I've read this series in order and have one way to begin my review: I do not want to read the last book. Not because I don't think it will be as enticing as the first three, but because I don't want the series to end. Coming from someone who has read maybe five series in my 30 years of life, this is saying a lot. Waters has managed to steal my attention with every written word and had me thinking all day how excited I was to get home and read more. Like most series, there's a huge beginning, huge middle, and then the story begins to lose its spark. That is not the case here! The story is able to go on because of the life progressions of the one soul. I'm fully enamored and as much as I want to fall into the last, am holding off until I can take it no more. I wish it didn't have to end! I've been inspired to think deeper about life in general and have even wondered if I myself have lived lives before. If you've not read this series: DON'T, UNLESS you're prepared to fall in love with it and not want it to end like I did! You're brilliant, L.E. Waters!
I think this is the last of this series that I'm going to read. I was engrossed by the first one, but the second one dragged a bit for me, and I struggled with whether I would finish this one or not. I really enjoyed Waters' ideas about reincarnation and redemption and appreciated the research done. However, I struggled with a few facets of the journey. Firstly, I had a hard time embracing that one soul could be multiple well known historical figures. In the whole of human history, assuming that we are all reincarnated souls, what are the chances that one soul would be known to history more than once? I'm not sure why that bothered me so much, but it did, and I was distracted by it. Secondly, I don't see Maya's soul learning anything from every experience. I understand that the stories within each book are joined by a common theme (sacrifice, devotion, loss...), but I don't see her soul taking anything away from each life. I did like that her soul began to 'remember' things from her previous lives. Overall, I think what began as an interesting take on reincarnation with a lot of promise has devolved into something boring and repetitive without much payout for the reader.
This book helped me to grieve over all the loss in my life, best friends so close like brothers and sisters..losing them so young and tragically. So many, until recently , my fiance. This book has helped me put all of this loss in a certain perspective . And it has helped remind me to find joy in all things, no matter what.
By far one of the best series I've ever read. I love going back in time to learn about her past lives! These books literally have everything you could possibly want, history, romance, excitement, heartbreaking loss and sadness. I can't wait until the last book comes out!
I am a big fan of historical fiction and this series is wonderful. Beautifully written and thought provoking. I would definitely recommend this series to all lovers of historical fiction.
The lives of Lazrina are getting more detailed, and the same souls keep coming together to work out their prior issues. The overarching theme is loss, loss of family, lovers and so much more, but it just gets more interesting!
This is, indubitably, one of the times I can thank an exceptionally hectic schedule- the work definitely matures well- is not one to read in one go. Due to the nature of the series, there is an awful lot of repetitious plot lines, even with differing context - thus the preponderance of monotony. However, reading of the different lives every now and then is an exceedingly pleasant experience, e.g. I finished all of the last life in a couple hours without falling asleep hh.
Besides that though, as always, the concept behind the series is really intriguing, though it’s evident the proofreading is rather nonexistent! Would like to see more of Maya learning and processing the lives though , and appreciate that the author bled some of the past lives into the present ones later on in this one- hope that’s adhered to in the last one.
Author did a stellar job of displaying loss in the lives, as per usual, with particular emphasis on Edgar of course, though it was intriguing to see how John saw the light early )) As always, the beacon chart and bibliography are greatly valued <3
I love the series, I have already started the next one, but even though i still give 5 starts to Infinite Loss, I must say that I enjoyed it a bit less than the first two, the story was a bit less intense. The lifes were well described and everything, but I think we could have had a better book in less pages...I loved the life of Kohana, but also of Edhar Alan Poe...the fact that every life ends up with an unpredictable and still predictable death is one of the charms of the series. No boring and overexplouted happy endings, but a meaningful passing from one theme to another into infinity of life lessons. My favorite quuote from the book is: "Life is not separate from death. It only looks that way".
I have read every book in the series so far and have to admit the first was the best. I love the idea of the story, the idea that we live multiple lives and have a circle of people that are in each one in some shape or form. That theory is fantastic to me! I also like that the author does her research on some of the more well known characters. My only issue is that some of the stories can be very drawn out. The last story in this book I feel like could have left a lot of extra stuff out. I found myself skipping forward just to see how it ended. The beginning and end of each individual story is great. Some fluff could be removed from the middle. Needless to say I did purchase the last book and plan on starting it today.
Another great but long book in the Infinite Series
I really l enjoyed the third book of this series. You really must read them in order to understand what's going on. In the beginning I thought the stories of each life was too long but the author Ms. Waters had good reason to do this. I especially liked the life of E A Poe. Enjoy!! Can't wait to read the 4th & 5th book which is the last. ENJOY and God bless you all!!
Two of these lives involve historic people, so they are great to follow. I like when there's a reference to an earlier life and wish there was more of that. Again, as in Book 2, I felt the perils went on a little too long. I'm anxious to read the final book of the series!
The Native American life was the most interesting for me. I have had dreams of many past lives myself. Several of them as native american. This continues to peak my interest in reincarnation.
The 2 stories in this book are very interesting and I would recommend this book. I wish this series of books had been proofread and edited where necessary. There are missing words, repeated words, misspellings, and wrong tense used every other page.
The first two books in this series were phenomenal. This one was so boring!! I didn't actually finish. Maybe I'll come back to it eventually, but I'm shelving it for now.
I thought this was going to be the last book in the series--but imagine my excitement to find out there's more!! LOVED this book! I've had several favorite "lives" so far and I've added another to my list from this book! I'm loving how the characters are recalling details from previous lives--can't wait for Infinite Faith.....
I loved this book and seriously couldn't put it down. The Poe life was my favorite. I felt the darkness and depression of the world and his life without ever wanting to stop reading. This series has been such an interesting study of history and characters. I can't wait to see how Waters wraps it all up!
I read this series a few years ago.. finishing the last about a year ago... I an anxiously waiting for the 4th and final book in the series "Infinite Faith".. from what I have read there is no release date! Can't wait for it to be published.
I'm still enjoying the story and journey of Lazrina and her life lessons! I also loved all the history and research behind the series and can't wait to read Infinite Faith! Highly recommended series!
3rd in the Infinite series. I loved this one just as much as I did the previous 2. I love how the main character is having "flashbacks" of previous lives.
Excellent book, especially for those interested in reincarnation. Good writing style and attention to detail. Well researched. Enjoyed the series. Hope there is more to come.
