Who would have thought by the end of this novel I'd be actually tearing up. If it is a simple, light-hearted novel you are exprcting (as I did in the beginning), please be warned. The final few chapters will wrench your heart out and trample it a thousand times. It is not the quick happy ending but rather a one of waiting and longing. The author really does know how to play with her reader's heart.
Initially I was happy I found a simple book to pass time. The story was simple, our MC was a fun laid back character, we had no clue who our ML was, everything was sailing smoothly as it should be. We had an added chibi arc too. I knew it would not just end there. For this novel to be popular it simply can't be just fluff all around and my suspicions were proven true. The last chapters truly did leave me with a slight sorrowful aftertaste. Don't get me wrong, it's HE after all but the raod leading to it was a tad bit melancholic. It also gave the story a uniqueness, clearly setting apart. All of it ultimately trickled down to a misunderstading but a series of coincidences that push started a beautiful relatinship. I am happy where the story stopped. I would have loved a bit more of their lives together but at least they are together.
One final thing, what happened to Furball? Was he not destined to be Heng Wan's love fate? Did I miss something in the middle?
Only read this because I realized that this was the first book in a series and I had to read this to "get" some of the stuff in 如意蛋 despite it featuring a different couple. My friend also strongly recommended this fic to me, so I decided to read this first. I have to say...interesting, unique premise, but I somehow could not really get into this fic for some reason. Still, it did get a lot better near the end, hence I ended up rating this 3.75 instead of 3.
Basically this story is quite humorous, as we follow the MC, a minor god given the task of ruining the relationship between two gods who were punished for harboring mortal interests in each other. They were to suffer hardships as mortal humans, and the MC was to be the one who made them suffer. MC was to make one of the gods his captive and claim that he was in love with that god just to make the other god angry. MC realizes that being the bad guy was no easy task, and he kept ending up trying to prevent one of the gods from committing suicide to make sure they followed the fate written down by the god in charge of destiny.
Well, I liked the pairing dynamic between the MC and his god friend and all, but yeah...somehow I had difficulty connecting to the romance. Interesting enough read, though.
