First things first, I do think that it would be better for readers to have read the first book in the series, Hotter On The Edge.
All of that aside, though, I really enjoyed this anthology.

Holy cow this anthology started off with a bang. I was sitting-straight-up-in-bed-SHOCKED by some of the things that went down in this story, and though things did "work out well" in the end, it was a hell of a ride from Point A to Point B.
I really enjoyed the shock factor of some of the things that happened in this story, and the non-stop action as well as the drama between Pilar and Hakan really kept the story moving.
was a great way to start off the anthology.

It's important for me to mention that I'm a big fan of K.C. Klein's work, even though her stories never fail to make me extremely uncomfortable. She forces me to go outside of the tiny little box of "how things are 'supposed' to work in romance" and realize that sometimes a Happily Ever After is much more meaningful if the characters (and the readers) are put through the ringer first.
This story broke my heart into a thousand little pieces. Having read the previous story in the series, I had thought that the tough times were over for Hudson and Lake, but boy howdy was I wrong about that. And as hard as it was to read about some of the things that happened to these characters, I would be a bold faced liar if I said that it didn't make their Happily Ever After all the more meaningful.
The only thing that I didn't care for in this story was the fact that the timeframe changed. As the author notes, the first story in this novella happened after the events in the novel of this series, Dark Future, a time-traveling tale of which I am a huge fan. This novella, however, changes things around and forces the previous novella as well as this one to be set before the events of Dark Future. Though this shouldn't be a problem to newcomers to the series, I admit it was confusing as hell for me as I read some of it.

As usual, this trio has saved the best for last. I loved not only the virgin hero (hello!), but the delicious tension between Icere and the older, more experienced Rynn. The mermaid mythology as well as the intrigue and danger woven into the tale only added to the drama, and I especially appreciated the concern that Rynn had about taking a lover who was of an age with her own son. It's not often that we get "older" heroines in romance, and I for one appreciated that she wasn't some young, green girl. The action, the drama, and the passion of this story made it a perfect way to close out the anthology.
Overall, a very solid 4/5 Stars

Amazing stories! If you love scifi romance, this anthology is for you. Read the blurbs, then my thoughts, and I hope you'll read this amazing anthology as well as the first, HOTTER ON THE EDGE.
GOLD LIKE THE SUN by Erin Kellison
This is an amazing, action-packed adventure through the back streets of Nyer as Pilar and Hakan try to figure out how to save themselves, two worlds, and figure out whom they can truly trust. Their love for each other, their families, and their home worlds drive this story of forgiveness, discovery, and a future greater and safer than either expected for the innocent.
I highly recommend this exceptional scifi romance, filled with danger, and a bit of unexpected violence. It is a wonderful sequel to Erin’s story, ALL THAT GLITTERS, her original story in the first anthology, HOTTER ON THE EDGE. It’s not an absolute necessity to read the first story, but I greatly suggest you do.
TO KEEP A WIFE by KC Klein
We met Lake and Hudson in KC’s story in the first anthology, HOTTER ON THE EDGE, in TO BUY A WIFE. A man who has a wife is revered with respect, envy, and believed to have great prestige in this war-torn society. We catch up with Lake, Hudson, and Lake’s little brother, Vonn, in the midst of an attack on the farm. Lake realizes that the Elders want her and will stop at nothing, and will spare no one, to get her in their clutches. She convinces a wounded Hudson to protect her brother, let the Elders take her, and come for her later. Things don’t work out exactly how Lake had hoped. Now a prisoner of the maniacal Syon, too much time has passed for her to believe that Hudson is ever coming for her. It’s just her again, alone to fend for herself, and her unborn child.
This story covers so much in so short a time that you will almost feel like you’re watching a film in your head. Whereas I bullied KC about Lake being on her own too much in TO BUY A WIFE, in TO KEEP A WIFE, KC Klein weaves a wonderful story about the fear of loss, fear of abandonment, and the wonder of how love can pull back loving memories from the darkness and bring a family back together. TO KEEP A WIFE by KC Klein is a the perfect finish to a story that began with a match not exactly made in heaven but ends with a happy ending that will lead us on even more adventures. I hope.

PRINCE OF PASSION by Jessa Slade
Jessa Slade blew me away with the imagery and science elements in this story about a May/December romance that develops between a Queen and an outworlder friend of her son when he comes to her water world fraught with all kinds of natural dangers.
Icere is the last remaining l’aurylo – "a being born, sculpted, and infused with the purest of passions" through the l’auraly crystal. He has come to Saya-Terce because he suspects the mercenary raiders, who tried to steal the l’auraly crystals from his home planet resulting in their destruction and the end of life as he knew it to be, were now after the Malac liqueur. There is no end to the dangers of what the aphrodisiac liqueur might be used for in altered forms.
Rynn, the Saya of Saya-Terce is suspicious of anyone wishing to get too close to her, or her children, after her own husband betrayed her home world and so her instincts tell her to question this beautiful young man’s reasons for being in the midst of the Malac Festival, and so close to her son. What she doesn’t expect is how sexually charged she would feel in his presence. Nor the need to which they would succumb to, after an accident during the harvest places them together and under the influence of the Malac liqueur.
PRINCE OF PASSION by Jessa Slade is an amazing sequel to ENSLAVED BY STARLIGHT from the first anthology, HOTTER ON THE EDGE. It’s even more illuminated than the first, with amazing imagery, incredible characters and creature creations, and the danger that makes Icere and Rynn band together to save Saya-Terce. Their romance is powerful, insightful, and naturally believable. Rynn is a beautiful and powerful ruler with unusual abilities that make her more than just a queen but rather a part of her world. Icere understands her, even if she doesn't understand herself. Two of a kind, both more connected to their home worlds than to others, Icere embraces her, and her talents, in the same way he relates to his own home world and the crystal that is so much a part of him.
I highly recommend reading PRINCE OF PASSION by Jessa Slade, working well as a stand alone, I still recommend you read this entire anthology. For the greatest reading pleasure, I also suggest you start with HOTTER ON THE EDGE, the first anthology, but if you only read the second – HOTTER ON THE EDGE 2 – be sure to read this beautiful, imaginative, and incredible story by Jessa.
If you love exciting romance, these are exceptional.

PRINCE OF PASSION by Jessa Slade is an amazing sequel to ENSLAVED BY STARLIGHT from the first anthology, HOTTER ON THE EDGE. It’s even more illuminated than the first, with amazing imagery, incredible characters and creature creations, and the danger that makes Icere and Rynn band together to save Saya-Terce. Their romance is powerful, insightful, and naturally believable. Rynn is a beautiful and powerful ruler with unusual abilities that make her more than just a queen but rather a part of her world. Icere understands her, even if she doesn't understand herself. Two of a kind, both more connected to their home worlds than to others, Icere embraces her, and her talents, in the same way he relates to his own home world and the crystal that is so much a part of him.
I highly recommend reading PRINCE OF PASSION by Jessa Slade, working well as a stand alone, I still recommend you read this entire anthology. For the greatest reading pleasure, I also suggest you start with HOTTER ON THE EDGE, the first anthology, but if you only read the second – HOTTER ON THE EDGE 2 – be sure to read this beautiful, imaginative, and incredible story by Jessa.
If you love exciting romance, these are exceptional.

This is an exciting trio of SF romance novellas. The three authors previously produced a collection 'Hotter on The Edge' and the new stories follow on but can be read separately. I felt that people who had read the first book would be at an advantage as the worlds described are very detailed and just finding your way around can reduce your sympathy for the characters.
GOLD LIKE THE SUN by Erin Kellison shows two cousins at loggerheads over the lovely Earth girl whom one of them has married. Is it right to bring her to a hub in deep space, where boredom and isolation has produced some exotic temptations? Pilar has been the target of assassination attempts and is capable of defending herself, and even though it's an arranged corporate marriage, she finds her husband Hakan extremely attractive. This is a complex story of business, family and betrayal.
TO KEEP A WIFE by KC Klein shows a battle raging for a farmhouse. Lake, inside, has a secret formula which can help healing and slow ageing. She knows her little family cannot hold off the attackers so she tells her injured husband Hudson and young brother Vonn to hide in a secret compartment and when she has been captured, Hudson can escape. Then he can come and search for her. Secretly she wants to stop him from being killed, and this is the only way. Lake's people are Rebels whose men would otherwise be conscripted into the brutal Elder armies. "Hotter on the Edge 2" - 3 novellas by 3 differnt authors. "Gold Like the Sun" by Erin Killison. "To Keep A Wife" by KC Klein. "Prince of Passion" by Jessa Slade.
All 3 novellas are psy-fi either taking place in a far distant future or in space with humans and aliens alike. I enjoyed the first book "Hotter on the Edge" where these 3 stories begin so I decided to give "part 2" a chance...and I'm glad I did. I found all three stories quite enjoyable. Enough so that I will continue to read this series.
I dont' usually read psy-fi, but these short novellas are very good for a beginner like me.

I loved book 1 and couldn't wait to read book 2 and the continuation of the stories. I wasn't disappointed at all. The Characters were just as fresh and exciting and the action was all out with some really lovely sexy romance scenes to liven it up even more. I am definitely going to be keeping my eyes open for more from these wonderful authors.

Erin Kellison, KC Klein and Jessa Slade offer us new and exciting stories that compliment the ones written in their original Hotter on the Edge book. What a fun treat.

Erin Kellison shows us that sometimes a princess is more than just a figurehead. Sometimes, if you are very lucky she is a woman of worth.
Princess Pilar Sol wants more from life than sitting on a pedestal, she wants to be an equal partner. So when her new husband Hakan Furst tries to send her home, for her protection, she fights back.. and shows him just how lucky he got.

I read a lot of romances with otherworldly elements. Some of them are really good, while others are harder to read. All three of the novellas in this book fell into the former category.
It was nice to read three different stories by different authors. I think the first two novellas were sequels to previous books, but they were still easy to follow and I didn't run into much confusion. It was disappointing that I didn't get to see the development of the relationship/s between the hero and heroine, but I felt that their existing relationship came across really well.
I felt that each of the novellas dealt with conflicts in really good ways - and each of them also managed to be fairly unique. The world in each story was intriguing, even though they were shorter ones, and I found the supporting characters to be quite interesting, too.
It's difficult to say if I had a favourite story. I liked them all in different ways and they were each quite different to the others. Amnesia is something that's always interesting to read about and although Hudson (in the second story) was kind of a jerk after he lost his memories, he did end up redeeming himself by the end of the story. I could really relate to Lake with her trust issues and how let down she felt through the course of the story.
In the first story, it was good to see the aftermath of the marriage between the two main characters. Barton was an interesting character - well, he was by the end, anyway. And I liked Pilar's and Hakan's relationship. There were a couple of more lighthearted moments in this book that were good to break up the tension.
The last story was quite an interesting one. It was probably twice the length of the previous stories, but I felt that worked. There was decidedly more conflict, but this time, I got to see the development of the relationship. I really did like the relationship between the two main characters and I'd like to read more with them in.
To be honest, all of these stories made me interested in looking at other works by these authors. This is a good introduction to these authors' works and definitely worth reading - at least in my opinion.

All three stories revisit the universes created in this author trio's previous collaboration...
Gold Like the Sun by Erin Kellison - Pilar's honeymoon is cut short, when her groom, Hakan, drugs her and puts her on ship bound for home in order to keep her out of danger. But fortunately Pilar is stronger than she seems, because now Hakan's the one in danger. I liked this.
To Keep a Wife by KC Klein - Klein continues the story of Hudson and Lake, her pair from Hotter ON the Edge Part 1 and they sure didn't get to rest on their HEA for long. Despite the fact that Klein really puts her pair through the wringer in this installment, I really liked this story. The world they live in is a dark place, but I am looking forward to finding out what happens next. Both of these shorts are prequels to her novel Dark Future.
Prince of Passion by Jessa Slade -I really enjoyed the story, I love a controlled hero and this one has such pathos- he is the last of his kind, never to fulfill his destiny and bond with his perfect lover. The world here is water based and very neat.
At the time of this posting Part one is still a kindle freebie, if you are curious about what has gone before in all of these author's worlds.

Though this book can stand alone, it was definitely better for me to have read the first one and as such, the rating I give it is based on my having read both anthologies. This book was like visiting with old acquaintances after a period of time. Pilar and Hakan are worthy of each other, both being strong, cunning and definitely in love. I loved that Pilar was resourceful and never played the damsel in distress and that Hakan let her be that way. Lake and Hudson face a more brutal attack and both have problems coming back together again. Outside forces are both more terrifying and more helpful. I am feeling there will be a third installment to this story. Next is an older woman-younger man encounter with one of the last male l'auraly and a reluctant queen. Their worlds collide and dangers ensue and in the midst realize that they are meant for each other.

This is the second book in the anthology series. I read the first which was okay, and accustomed me to the writer's styles and back story for the characters.
In the story by Erin Kellison, Pilar and Hakan had a great story, fast read and enjoyable. I was dubious about it after reading the Kellison story in Hotter on the Edge but this was much better and faster.
The story by KC Klein was very interesting. It would have been great, but was somewhat disjointed and didn't flow well for some reason that I can neither explain nor pinpoint. I cheered on the characters like I did in the first story.
Jessica Slade's story was very confusing. I found the first one hard to read and this one improved, but there were still a few places where I was really confused.
Overall, this is an okay anthology. Parts are good, parts are mediocre at best.

I loved book 1 and couldn't wait to read book 2 and the continuation of the stories. I wasn't disappointed at all. April 3, 2013It was exciting to write the second book in the series, and of course, sci-fi romance is still very dear to my heart. I also think Jessa Slade did an amazing job on the cover. I am so glad I got to be a part of this project.

It was fun to read these 3 novellas and visit these worlds again. The characters are interesting and the adventures are fun!! Thank you Net Galley for the chance to read them!
