Let me start off saying that I have read all of the books in the Harbinger series. I love them. This book will definitely make you squirm! Literally! There were times I had to look away from the pages!

Full disclosure : I was offered a copy of this book prior to release for an honest review.

Kent Harbinger reminds me a little of detective Goren on law & order. Harbinger is quirky, arrogant, quick witted and flat out bold! He does and says the things we all wish we could - all the things that are absolutely unacceptable! There is alway a method to his madness! Joshua has been a creepy character I've completely disliked because of the first book, but man, I LOVE him in this one! Totally redeemed himself. A new character was added, I'd love to see him more in the next book . I would have liked to see a little more emotional or PDA between Nicole and Kent though.
I recommend this series to everyone.

Didn't realize that I hadn't already read this one. Yea!!! A fresh Carolyn McCray: it's like Christmas in July!

McCray never disappoints. The latest episode in the Harbinger series is fast paced, and, as usual, the serialist "whodunit" is pretty much the last one you would suspect. "SPOILER ALERT" : Some personal relationships that have needed handling get sorted out in this novel. Also, not what you expect to happen!
Excellent book! I couldn't put it down: five stars all the way!!!

Wallflower is the sequel to Plain Jane: Brunette Beware by Carolyn McCray. Yet another hauntingly and disturbing novel in Harbinger Mystery Series. I don't know what the author McCray uses as her muse when she writes this series but, please don't let it go!

I have really come to love the character of Kent Haribinger. He reminds me a little bit of Hannible Lecter and the characters from Criminal Minds. He always thinks outside the box and really tries to get into the killers mind. Yes Kent is bold, arrogant, maybe a bit mentally unstable and highly unconventional but, he's always right or very close to it in the end. I like how he always takes that extra step unlike most police work. Not for nothing but McCray's stories show both sides of how law enforcement works most cases. I've actually seem it myself.

Nicole I believe is really starting to understand what it takes to be a profiler and what it truly does to Kent's mind and why he has to push his emotions aside. I can not find the statistics I was looking for on how many years profilers last in the field, but I know it's not many. I wish there was a little bit more lovable interaction between Kent and Nicole but I guess all the twisted crazy adventures they go on make up for it. I was very surprised at the end when Kent threw a curve ball at Nicole in the most unconventional and inappropriate time, however what is anything about Kent appropriate!?

There was one exchange between Kent and Nicole towards the end that just made my day and had me cracking up. Kent says to Nicole "I'm gonna go pop some tags!" and Nicole smiles and says "Do you even know what that means?" Kent says "No but if rappers can say it so can I"! It truly was just too funny and was a nice humorous bit to add after a long crazy reading of gore and killings.

I can't wait for book three, but in the mean time I'll have to catch up on all of McCray's other series.

“Wallflower” by Carolyn McCray is definitely not for the squeamish! Once again Kent Harbinger is on the trail of a serial killer accompanied by his detective lover Nicole.
As with the other Harbinger tales, Wallflower tracks the escalating horrors of a serial killer honing his craft. The plot for this story is great but unlike” Plain Jane”, the previous Harbinger thriller, I found the dialogue in this book a little stilted. While I must admit Kent still sounds like the delightfully pretentious guy we expect, Nicole has been somewhat reduced to a teenage minded girlfriend. Admittedly this change fits well with some of the action in the latter part of the story but it is still a little disconcerting to have the once stable Nicole become erratic.
It is nice to see the return of Ruben, Joshua, and the ever annoying medical examiner. The addition of Yvent, the observant Jewish profiler in training, is an interesting touch and I can’t help but wonder if we will see more of him in future books.
Overall this is a good story albeit with some unbelievable plot twists. But it is worth reading especially if you like Harbinger from earlier reads. The story still carries the gritty edge of “Plain Jane” and the end will once again catch you by surprise. At the end I found I was already hoping there would be a follow up so I can see where Kent and Nicole end up next and what other psychos they will come up against.

No the blurb does not reveal a whole lot, I know, and I don't think I will let you know much more about the story. Why? Well If I have learned anything from reading Carolyn McCray's books it is you just need to read it.

The story starts off with action right away which had me on the edge of my seat right from the start. And fortunately that stayed that way throughout the story.

I love Kent, he is arrogant and bolt, but I am unable to hate him for it. Then there is his relationship with Nicole, who is quite the opposite from Kent, but they are so good together.

Carolyn McCray can come up with some of the most sick serial killers, it gives the story just that extra "creepy" factor which I love.

I thought that with Plain Jane (the first book in the series) Carolyn McCray surprised me with the ending, but I can tell you I did not see this one coming. There are lots of twist and turns in this story and the ending was a complete surprise. This with the high "creepy" factor this story has made for a very enjoyable story.

I was honored to read this in it's beta version. I can tell you only a little bit about this book. First, IT'S THAT GOOD! Second, I did not see the twist coming. Finally, who would have thought they would get help the way they did. This book honestly took me by suprise. I thought I had figured out who was behind the murders, but I was missing the master mind. This book had me wanting to know more about another character that is introduced. I only hope he gives them one hell of a run for their money!

YUCKY-N-GROSS-GROSS-GROSS! YIKES, I LOVED IT! THE KILLER USED A VERY STRANGE METHOD TO KILL PEOPLE, REALLY, REALLY DIFFERENT (oh so sick & yuk-yucky). KENT'S ABILITY TO MAKE SENSE OUT OF SENSELESS SITUATIONS WAS REALLY NEEDED IN THIS ONE. I KNEW WHO THE KILLER WAS BUT YOU HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE CHARACTERS GET TOO THAT POINT, THEY HAD ME KINDA WORRIED FOR A BIT. WHEW! I SO AGREE WITH KENT, SERIAL KILLERS ARE UN-REDEEMABLE AND THEY SHOULD ALL BE KILLED. . . RIGHT AWAY. IT MAY SOUND BLOODTHIRSTY BUT ISN'T THAT WHAT THEY WILL DO TO US IF GIVEN THE CHANCE? HELL YES, OFF WITH THEIR HEADS! ;D

WOW!!! is all I can say...I've been killing myself to make time to finish this book, and I was CERTAINLY NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! NOW on to SHALLOW GRAVE (a short-story before BUZZ KILL)...

ONE thing I will say about our 'main characters': they ARE characters!!! I'm learning their personality traits and as much as Harbinger was a QUIRK in the beginning, he's just that much more lovable a NECESSARY as we go from story to story!!!

I love creepy books! This book had me turning pages late into the night! It is a fast paced, suspenseful thriller. Kent Harbinger is a brilliant, quirky profiler that will stop at nothing (and I mean nothing) to catch a killer. He is definitely one of my favorite character of all time. I would love to see him on the big screen one day! I would highly recommend this book!

I enjoyed this book, though I doubt it's one I'll choose to reread. Interesting serial killer mystery that didn't require much thought. I still think the main character is modeled off of, or at least greatly influenced by, Aloysius Pendergast from Child and Preston's books, but Harbinger lacks Pendergast's charm.

Disturbingly entertaining!
Where McCray gets her muse for writing these wickedly twisted and fascinating story is beyond me, however she does it exceptionally well!
I look forward to the next sequel of the Harbinger series.

Definitely an improvement on the pretty decent story of Plain Jane. The book is a bit sloppy but overall a good read. Harbinger is his same impossible self but still entertaining nonetheless.

Good for a mindless fiction read.

Definitely not for the squeamish. This author really knows how to push our buttons when it comes to disgusting. There were parts in this story that I see all too clearly, and can't forget, and it's not nice. LOL Very good though.

A quick read. Full of typos and gender-normative sterotypes. I'm kind of done with Usher and Harbinger's dysfunctional relationship at this point and didn't find this as compelling as Plain Jane.
