Kingdom #5

Hook's Pan

Rate this book
Trishelle Page has known pain in her life, but instead of it making her weak, she's stronger. Confident. That is until the day a fairy kidnaps her during her staring role in Peter Pan's play and tells her not only do fairy tales exist, but that she's the soulmate of the pirate they call Hook, making her question everything she ever thought she knew.

Captain James Hook is a man at the end of his rope. He's not the villainous bastard tales have made him out to be. So when the curvaceous blonde drops, literally, at his feet he aims to prove it to her. If only to get her into his bed.

What neither one knows is that fate and magic are conspiring and they can deny the attraction all they want but the end is already written, it's just a matter of getting there.

Marie Hall is a USA Today Bestselling author and has always held a dangerous fascination for creatures that go bump in the night. And mermaids. And of course fairies. Trolls. Unicorns. Shapeshifters. Vampires. Scottish brogues. Kilts. Beefy arms. Ummm... Bad boys! Especially the sexy ones.

Then the day came she realized apart from the sexy bad boy she married, there'd be no vampires/shapeshifters/mermaids/fairies/or even stinky trolls in her future unless she wrote about them. More often than not she can be found roaming the wild, lush tropical forest she calls her backyard (a.k.a. Hawaii) and day dreaming constantly about her latest project.

Her Mad Hatter is the first book of her Kingdom Series.

She loves to hear from her readers and can be reached at mariehallwrites@gmail.com!

I have to admit, I read this book because I have a thing for this particular Captain Hook:

description

Ahhh... Killian Jones... Mmmm...

Anyway! Moving on!

So with that dark, handsome face in mind, I dove into the story of the modern day Trishelle and her fairytale soul mate, Captain James Hook. The first few chapters were, admittedly, a little slow as the author set the stage for Trish and Hook's meeting.

The story itself was fairly short (which I prefer anyway) and steamy. Captain Hook is as sizzling as you'd expect a man with a hook for a hand to be. Trish was funny and likeable. The only thing I didn't like was how fast they

Either way, I enjoyed this story! I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance with a side of fantasy.

This was my least favorite book of the bunch. I didn't like Trishelle when she was introduced in Gerard's Beauty and I liked her even less here. Which sucked because I was hoping this book would make me like her more. As pathetic and sad as she was, I figured I would feel an ounce of pity or compassion. I was just annoyed. The only thing that saved this book was the magic of Neverland and the wonder of James Hook. Dude was delicious!!

In this sci-fi/romance Ms. Hall takes us to a place called Kingdom. This fairy tale romance takes place in Neverland and the hero is Captain Hook. The author creates Hook with such sexiness that you can’t help but to want him. In my mind I pictured Hook looking like Orlando Bloom. Yeah. Perfection.

 photo 2f80d107-b6b8-43a0-8b91-0cf05867f876_zpsac67b19d.jpg

The heroine is Trishelle Page. She’s a gorgeous blonde who is still trying to get over her sister’s death and is terrible in the love department. She’s whisked away from our modern day time to only be dropped at Hook’s feet. The two of them don’t hit it off right away. Slowly but surely they do. The love scenes are great. Two thumbs up!

I didn’t know that this was a series when I started reading it but it’s still enjoyable once you connect with the characters. The author writes each chapter with such passion that everything in my mind was vivid. The colors, the outfits, everything. The characters in the book are lively and have a personality all their own.

Hook’s Pan is entertaining. Lots of magic and imagination. If you’re into like sci-fi and you like fairy tales, this one is for you!

Fairytale retellings are pretty fun, especially when it enables you to take classically known villains and make them into the hero/good guy. In the vein of a certain popular fairytale-themed show, Hook’s Pan by Marie Hall has our intrepid Captain James Hook being the good guy and finding true love.

Of course, being the “good guy” doesn’t necessarily mean that Hook is an angel. It’s nice that Hall goes out of her way to let her readers know that Hook is still a pirate and thus still does not so bad things so he does retain that edge that makes him both dangerous and hot. His tragic romantic past illustrated the passionate man behind the facade of dangerous pirate. Hall’s Hook manages to balance being romantic without going over the cheesy/corny line.

It took me a while to warm up to his female counterpoint, Trishelle (it was probably the way she reacted and treated her friend, Betty [from the previous book in this series [book:Gerard's Beauty|17413118]], where she came off harsh and even mean) but as their story played out you see there’s more to her than the witty independent woman she shows to the world. You actually get to a certain point that you feel sympathy for her in regarding her connection to Hook and some of those inhabiting Neverland.

As much as I liked the way Hall wrote Hook and Trishelle, I would’ve liked for her to expand on Peter Pan and subsequently the animosity between him and Hook. As it was, Pan just came off as a bratty annoying kid who has something against Hook even before the incident that changed Hook and revved up the hatred between them. I would’ve liked to have more backstory to Pan to help explain why he was the way he was and why he didn’t like Hook which would’ve created depth to the story, especially when you’re going to have Hook and Pan switch roles.

I was first introduced to Hall and her Kingdom series with the first book Her Mad Hatter which I really enjoyed. While I liked this book (these installments are essentially stand alones and can be read individually), it wasn’t the same as the first one. This book was missing that unique element that existed with Hatter and made this book just a nice average romance that you read when you have some hours to burn.

A wonderful retelling of the classics Peter Pan story with a lovely bad boy twist. Just as in the last fairytale installments of the Kingdom series Marie Hall does a fantastic job bringing in the characters unique and individual personalities. The twists on the classic Disney interpreted bad boys is thrilling. Hook was my favorite character in this book even though I felt bad for him I didn’t pity him and was drawn in by his oh so alluring charm. The only thing I got caught on was that some parts flew by while others tended to linger on; the flow of the story was a bit choppy for me. This was overall another whimsical read in the series.

Note: I received this book from the Lovers of Paranormal R&R program in exchange for an honest review.

Stars: 5++

Overall: I always knew that Captain James Hook had a big heart underneath it all. I LOVED this story beyond what words could describe. It was fun, exciting and it really made me look at fairy tales in a different way. My favorite scene from the book is when they travel the underwater kingdom. The description was beyond beautiful and it made me wish that Danika had a bad boy out there for me somewhere. I also really liked that the end when Trisha found out what really happened to Talia and all the feelings came flooding back. All i have to say is Bad Boys need love too.

Characters: James Hook & Trishelle ( Talia )

Page Turner: I never put the book down it was so good!

Series Cont: I hope so!!

Recommend: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!

I am so glad that this is not the last book that Ms. Hall will write about the bad boys. I loved Hook. I have a thing for pirates anyway, so that wasn't very hard. I loved how Peter Pan was the villain. I could so see him being a spoiled little brat like that if this were a true story. I grieved for Hook, which made me fall in love with him even more. I can't wait for more! Yay!

Captain James Hook has fueled legends here on earth. A scoundrel, a bastard who thrives on only one thing: capturing and ending the life of that perpetual child that we know so well- Peter Pan. But there's more to him than meets the eye, and fairy godmother Danika knows it. One of her "bad boys", she's vowed to help him find love again after he lost the love of his life, the beautiful mermaid Talia. Only, the woman she chooses, Trishelle, wants no part of this. Cold from her life experiences, she wants nothing to do with love, or Hook. Three days is all they get to fall in love, but with her old soul and Hook's misunderstood ways..... Will they find love together?

---

I could honestly fangirl over the Kingdom series forever. I love these twists on the fairy tales we all love and adore. Marie Hall uses her own imagination to give depth to characters, make them more adult, and create new worlds to fall in love with. Hook's Pan is no exception.

+Captain Hook is completely swoon worthy. An attractive, smoldering man in this tale, he is brutish but also very smooth and charming. It is no question why women are drawn to his plundering ways. He is crass to the point of sexy, and has an amazing sex appeal. Not to mention the fact that he calls Trishelle "little bird", and I think that's just darling. It wasn't long before I, like Trish, was developing an attachment to this rebellious scalliwag.

+And then there's Trish. It's not very often that I enjoy females in adult/erotica themed books. But I adore Trish. She's very blunt and sassy, and isn't the type to just lay down and let things happen. She wants control of her own life, to hell with everyone else. Whereas I believe in love, I think these are semi-admirable traits, and are a nice change from the slew of damsels in distress that I've read about lately.

+The scenery of these fairy tale realms are simply beautiful. Marie Hall takes the reader to the bottom of the ocean to frolic with seahorses and dine with mermaids, and then lifts them up to sail the air currents to see a cave of glowfish. I am drawn to these fantastical places, and I wouldn't want to leave them, not one bit. I felt utterly lost in them- this book is a great escape.

+The sex scenes are passionate, detailed, and well paced without coming off as overly crude or redundant. The steam level is through the roof, and they definitely will satisfy a naughtier palate.

My issues with this book were few: occasional choppy, incomplete sentences and sparing instances were Trish sounded a bit porn star-esque during sex. Neither of these things were enough to hinder my reading to the point where it gets anything less than five stars.

If you are a fan of fairy tales and erotica, or even just pirates, then this short read is a must. Don't forget to check out the rest of the series! If sex isn't your thing- don't read it.

Thank you to Netgalley and Marie Hall Publishing for my electronic copy.

I received this book from Netgalley - Marie Hall Publishing for my honest review
Wow! What an amazingly awesome pleasant surprise!
Hook's Pan is the final book in the Kingdom series (although the author has hinted there will more). I admit I have read these completely out of order, I had never heard of this series before. But it popped up on Netgalley and I thought it looked right up my alley.
A book about Neverland.....and Captain Hook is the good guy .....and Peter Pan is the bad guy? This was always going to be good, add in a broken heart and a fated to be mated type scenario and bam!! This book had me HOOKED! Ha-ha, sorry, couldn't help it.
I will say this, Hook has never been sexier. Marie Hall did a fantastic job of making him a roguish pirate, suffering after the death of his mermaid lover 100 years ago at the hand of the evil boy, Peter pan. He is after revenge and who could blame him?

Enter Trish, she is swept through worlds to Neverland from her part in a play as...... you guessed it Peter Pan himself. So when she is dumped on the deck of the Jolly Roger she isn't really given a warm welcome, especially in her Peter Pan get up.
I absolutely loved this book. It was an adventure, it was an imaginative journey to a place I always wanted to go, and what kid didn't, Neverland! The twists and turns that this book had with Hook being the good guy and Pan being the bad guy just seemed to make sense. I was really swept away. Even Tink was their. The growing affection between Trish and James was addictive, I loved their banter. It was steamy, I was totally fanning myself.
Are you looking at my butt?"
"If by looking at your butt you imply am I looking at your arse, then yes, I am."

This story came along at just the right time for me. I love a roguish bad boy. One that can steal your heart with his secret soft side, but on the outside is a devil may care trouble maker, cocksure and totally irresistible. And the things that he can do with that Hook, phew!
"Call me a bastard," he growled, refusing to censure his thoughts in that moment because his heart was thumping too hard and his chest aced with something he could not name,"but I aim to ruin you for any other man."
For a little while, he has :) Great story I am definitely going to go back and read more of this Kingdom series.

"Even the most evil had a tender side, and the most pure the propensity for destruction."

I love a retelling, especially a dark romance- The darker the better!!, bring along Captain Hook

Throughout all I couldn't help picturing was a certain pirate from 'Once Upon A Time' - Hello, Killian Jones mmm... This story is a modern retelling focusing on Trisha and her soul mate Captain James Hook. Even if at the beginning neither of them knew it yet. Trisha had been taken out of our time and into Neverland. I would of preferred if Trisha and Hook was developed over a longer period rather than 3 days. I really don't like insta-love- how can you love someone you just meet, even if part of their soul is your old love. I would of also enjoyed Hook being more darker, having a bigger redemption in getting his revenge and gaining Trisha's love. I liked that they were both damaged in their own way. But end up understanding each other because of it.

Favorite Line “What would Neverland be if Hook didn’t give that boy hell?”

I do love the bad boys of The Kingdom series and Hook's story does not disappoint! The description of all the different scenes were amazing. I could close my eyes and see the world under the sea and in the air.
Hook was a fabulous bad boy and oh my that hook was SO FREAKING HOT! Trishelle was such a fiery character! Her and Hook are so so perfect for each other. As will all the Kingdom couple this couple was spectacular! I really loved how Pan was the spoiled little rat I always thought him to be and how Tink was not the cute little thing but, really was just a vicious fairy!
All in all just an amazing story!!

I was given this book by author for an honest review. (LoP)

Fairy godmother Danika is determined to find fated mates for all of her fairy tale villain charges before they cease to exist. Trishelle is the best friend of Betty who recently married Gerard (Gaston from the Beauty and the Beast tale). When Betty tries to tell Trishelle that Danika is convinced that she’s Captain Hook’s mate, Trisha refuses to believe it even though she’s currently starring as Peter Pan in a local theater production. But she starts believing in fairy tales rather swiftly as Danika suddenly drops her on the deck of the Jolly Roger. But their insta-lust for each other isn’t enough to convince her she’s in love with the famed pirate, not even telling her that she’s the re-incarnation of his mermaid girlfriend. Because Trisha saw her older sister die from spouse abuse to a man she loved, she has refused to be tied down and suffer the same fate as her sister.

I’m always a sucker for adventures with pirates in them! It might be the thrilling adventure, the danger of treading on the side of villainy, the exotic locations, all of which is in this book and so much more. Not only does this bring to life the dangerous, reckless pirates, but it also spends time with the Neverland mermaids and visits their underwater kingdom. The scenes of the underwater kingdom and traveling to there, were incredibly imaginative. And there were so many interesting things to discover aboard the Jolly Roger. But Trisha, I never warmed to. The whole point was that she was this tough, cynical woman who pretty much just used sex to scratch an itch. So, the sex scenes were frequent and they all felt cheap so I found myself skimming them. Also, with being cynical, she had a potty mouth which spewed 4-letter words rather constantly. She seemed rather Mary-Sue generic average modern woman to me. With the title of Hook’s Pan, I expected her to have a Peter Pan personality where Hook would practically have to tame her rather than the tedious having to convince her that they were in love, that he did love her, etc. Hook and Smee were both re-invented for this book, turning them both into handsome, dangerous pirates, so they weren’t the buffoons from the Disney cartoon, it did make them more real as men rather than cartoons. The twist of Hook being a rogue pirate with a heart of gold and Peter being the villain is rather popular in indie books these days after the idea was introduced in the TV series Once Upon a Time, so it isn’t like I haven’t seen that twist before. In fact, books of Peter being the good guy are actually getting rather rare. I did love the brief glimpse of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell and there feels like there should be a book about him being brought to justice since he really shouldn’t be allowed to get away with what he did to Talia and that he can just kill and get away with it if he considers it a game. I loved the book about Hatter and Alice and I loved the story about Betty and Gerard, but I’m getting a bit tired of ramming the idea home that Danika has to find “fated mates” (such an indie cliched term/idea which feels really stale) for everyone and most of them have to be modern generic author-insert women. (Though I did like this tale more than Red and Wolf and Paz and Genie). I am dying to see more of Sirroco (and it looks like I’ll get that wish in Pirate’s Dream).

My copy also came bundled together with a copy of The Sea Queen. I ended up passing on it. I just didn’t care for all the sex talk going on in it, modernly updating all of the Greek gods as cheap lust-filled characters.

Nice ending

What a nice way to end the series. Two people who refuse love. Hook never let his first love go and is full of revenge, while Trisha has only seen bad relationships and no longer believes in love. This couple has so many things in common with each other. They are so fun together. Lots of wit and charm throughout their story. There are a couple of issues though. The first is that Dannika was rarely around but there wasn't an explanation. Hopefully it will be answered in the novella. Secondly, there wasn't a good conclusion with Pan.

I wasn't impressed with this one. While I truly loved the series when I first started reading it, it gets harder to enjoy it.
My usual complain is that series tend to be repetitive which isn't even the case this time. Being presented with new main characters in every book should let me see new places and make it possible get to know Kingdom even more but it doesn't. I miss having any kind of connection with the story world. There's no real excitement.

Unfortunately, I'm not that familiar with Hook's and Peter Pan's story. Maybe I would have enjoyed the book more if I knew the original story better. I also got some issues with the author forcing was too much relationship into a couple of days (hello insta-love) and more often than not there's a problem with showing-instead-of-telling.

Guess I'll pause the series for now.

I could, at some point grow too old for fairytales and the reimagined tales that utilize their characters, but that is not a point I look to favorably. Bringing the fifth tale of another Bad Boy of fairy tales, this is the story of Hook, the debased and diabolical pirate with a penchant for cruelty and walking the plank, and a hatred for Peter Pan. Hook’s fairy godmother Danika returns to help (interfere) in yet another one of her boy’s lives: hoping to forestall their fate should they not be mated.

Trishelle is a human girl with two faces: the one the world sees and the real he, guarded, sad and wholly distrustful of men. Yet, Danika is convinced that Trishelle’s soul is an old one, forever tied to her broken and battered Hook.

With storytelling that embraces the fantastic and manages to craft two flawed people, incorporating humor and some snappy dialogue these are characters that feel real, despite the fantasy of their setting and surroundings. As Trisha and Hook get to know one another in conversation and some truly erotic encounters, they also find their connection and are able to recognize their true bonds. This entire series is fairytales reimagined for adults, with cameos from earlier characters and a fairy godmother that flitters between helpful and annoying: each installment is a joy to read.

I received an eBook from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

This book has wonderful world building as it fashions an alterative dimension where all the stories we have heard are true but with more layers. This is the fifth book in the series featuring story tale villains as the hero. The hero of this book is James Hook of Peter Pan fame and he is delicious. For those of you loving the villain/criminal love interest, this is a great book for you. He is a pirate. He drinks. He has his own code. He never reforms. He is true blue to his lady.

His lady is less interesting than he is but none the less they have fun witty exchanges and good chemistry. I would have liked more than the three days of a rushed romance or more of an epilogue but overall the romance worked.

The first book in this series featuring the Mad Hatter was much less successful for me than this one so I am happy to report that this is a wonderful world worth your frolic and that the series will be continuing.

I was given this book for my honest review.

fifth installment in kingdom series. Trisha from book two in Gerard's beauty become the main character and Hook's supposed mate but she wont take that laying down and neither will he, but both find each other attractive. In fact i was left guess on what our two main chracters would do considering they are horn dogs and some what sporadic.
Well rounded characters, and great story line, great description of the environment and senses of the characters.

Had Marie Hall ended the story here with this book I would have been okay with the end of the series, but I would have mourned the passing of some wonderful people that had yet to be created by this gifted author.

Peter Pan is one of my all time favourite stories and having a raunchy story of Hook did not disappoint.

As Trishelle is thrown to the jolly Rodger by Danika the fairy godmother she becomes Hook's guest for 3 days before she can return....

It was a fun quick read, it was the 5th book in the series, I will probably stop here for a while as it was the big bad 5 I wanted to finish! Not to say I wont look up further tales in the future but Hook's story was an incredible finale!

My Rating: 4.5/5

Hugely imaginative and deeply romantic, this book was absolutely lovely. Hook's Pan was a fantastic fantasy romance. I really liked this new take on Peter Pan and Hook.

I've read the first book in this series, Her Mad Hatter, and it was imaginative, absorbing, positively magical. I was hoping that this book would live up to that and it sure did. Marie Hall has a gift for painting a different, magical world that completely takes you in. Her ability to create a setting that brings you there as you're reading is off the charts. Props to the author for that :)

Trishelle was an okay heroine. I thought she was very strong, dealing with a crazy new reality. However, I occasionally got annoyed with her. Trisha had a temper and an attitude to match. Normally, I don't mind that. But, she was to the point that I wanted to tell her to chill out and calm the hell down. Not everything needs to be a fight to the death. Also, her hardcore man-hating grated on my nerves after a while. She had reason to be wary of men and relationships. But it wasn't fair for her to label ALL men as terrible people just because of their gender. You know what they say about assuming? That's what happened with her. I still liked her fine. She was a good heroine. She just needed to take a chill pill and relax.

Hook, on the other hand, was perfect. I never like the Disney version of Peter Pan as a child. So, my first real look at Hook as a character was in Once Upon a Time, where he's very attractive with a sexy accent. Plus, how can you say no to a bad boy with a passion for a lost love. This version of Hook was very similar-attractive, with a hot accent, hung up on his lost love, and determined to get revenge for the person who took her away. And that made me absolutely love him! Hook was intense, passionate, and yet so sweet when he wanted to be. And, though he had a good heart, a bad boy to the bones. I thought he was just brilliant.

The romance was well done. Because of a history between Trisha and Hook (no, I won't tell), there was a lot of emotion already present on Hook's side. His utter devotion to Trisha was so sweet. And the attraction between these two was on fire! Definitely a lovely couple.

The plot was fast paced. It was interesting seeing the story of Hook and Peter Pan being reimagined in such a way. I was hooked the entire way through. And the ending was absolutely perfect for their story. I hope Ms. Hall writes more in this series. I fully intend on going back and reading books 2, 3, and 4 so that I have the entire series, because I am absolutely loving it.

Hook's Pan was an absolutely, delightfully twisted fantasy romance. If you're looking for a a different romance, this is your book.

Sometimes, I have troubles figuring out why I don't like a heroine, which happens a lot, especially in romance.
This was not one of those times.
Not only was Trishelle - urghhhhh that name - an obnoxious, unpleasant heroine even if, for whatever reason, everyone in the book seemed to find great, but she was an total slut-shamer. And that's a deal breaker for me. When a character who pretends to be "confident with her sexuality" and "liking sex a lot" (although, curiously, she was completely shocked to have slept so soon with Hook even if she mentally undressed him from the beginning), she made a great deal to explain at least three times that she was not, in fact, a slut.
Shame. It might have made her a tiny bit likeable
Why did I read this to the end, then ?
Well... it was neither for the - poor - style, nor for the two-dimensional characters.
The idea - giving an happily ever after to fairy tales villains - was interesting and I am kind of a sucker for Hook since Once upon a time. But I felt like the author merely exploited the idea, prefering to ramble about insta-lust becoming insta-love as her protagonists finally had sex.
Eventually, the only thing I DID like in the book was Hook himself. He was a tiny too good a guy for his reputation, but I liked him nevertheless.
He alone deserves the 1.5 stars I give this book.
And I'm going to give Gerard a chance, as I am intrigued by him... even if I don't expect much from his book either...

A Fairy Godmother’s work is never done! With four of the Bad Five now happily matched to their soul mates, Danika only has one more baddie to introduce to his special someone. Unfortunately with a reluctant bride-to-be and a groom still pining for his first love, facilitating the romance for Captain James Hook might not be smooth sailing.

It probably doesn’t help Danika’s job when both Captain Hook and his foretold mate Trishelle Page are dealing with separate and very painful emotional crises. In Kingdom, it has been 200 years and still Hook cannot escape the doldrums of his daily existence since losing Talia, the mermaid princess he gave his heart to. The circumstances around her death have always been speculation to Hook, but he knows exactly who was responsible for the crime: the boy who never grew up, Peter Pan. From the day of Talia’s murder until now Hook and his crew have pursued Peter across the realm of Neverland to exact justice for his crime and to a smaller degree allow Hook some peace. Unfortunately Peter’s fairy protector Tinkerbell always manages to keep Peter one step ahead of the Jolly Roger, causing Hook’s anguish and guilt to eat at his soul until not much remains but his quest for revenge.

Captain James Hook isn't like how he's portrayed in the stories. Hook wants to exact his vengeance on Peter Pan for taking away his love. Trishelle (Trish) Page hates the anniversary of her sister's death more and more. Trish has the lead role in Peter Pan play yet her dreams are bigger than where she currently lives. Danika gave Gerard and Betty a chance to explain things to Trish but now she must take matters into her own hands. Hook finds Trish at his feet wear Peter Pan's garb it's really amused at all. Yet Hook is intrigued by her too. Hook only has three days to convince Trish that she's his soul mate. Trish quickly learns that Gerard and Betty were telling the truth. Can Hook let go of his vengeance? Will Trish fall in love? Your answers await you in Hook's Pan.

I was wondering how Hook's story would come about. He definitely found his match. This series gets better with each book. The characters and story are honest, compelling, real, flawed, and unique too. I will definitely be putting this author on my must reads list.

I love fairytales....and I really love fairytales redone with a "current" spin on them....and I really liked this book. Captain James Hook is that bad boy you just can't help falling for. Trishelle is your standard skeptic and has been going through life with a mask and mostly going through the motions, not wanting to risk love because of what happened to her sister....

When the two meet...it is hilarious and when they finally give in it pretty hot. This story sucked me in...I started reading at 11pm thinking I would read just a little bit before going to sleep....next thing I know its 2am and I'm finished....and I don't want it to be over. While this is a part of a series, I did not feel lost, while some of the back stories would have been good to have, not having that did not take away from the story. I am definately going back to read the first four books

Complimentary Review Copy Provided by Publisher Through NetGalley I hadn't actually read any of the previous Kingdom stories but that didn't really matter. There was enough backstory given, without ruining the flow of the story, that I had no trouble understanding what was going on. In fact the backstory about other Bad Boys of The Kingdom made me eager to go find them and read those too. So this one is all about turning Hook into a hero and Marie Hall does it with style and humour. I loved that Peter Pan was shown to be exactly what an undisciplined ten year old would be without adult correction. The Heroine was sympathetic and believable without being a wimp, in fact I loved her snarky responses to Hook and really enjoyed the whole romance. As for Hook I loved him even though he managed to hold a grudge against Pan for so long.

Oh my gosh, what do you want me to say? I love the Kingdom series and I greatly admire Marie Hall. I adore the world she's created for us to get lost in, and my view on the 'bad boys' of fairy tales has changed significantly.

I was most excited to read about James Hook. He's one of my favorite villains (partially Jason Isaac's fault-can I get an amen?). I really, REALLY enjoyed this story. There's a lot of steam and sweetness and my lord, can I have a pirate yet?

I think Marie Hall is an incredible writer, and I truly believe she's the creator of grown-up fairy tales, happy endings included. She inspires me and I can only ever hope my books will be as amazing as hers one day.

Thanks for another great read, Marie! I can't wait to read more of your work in the future. You've got a fan here. <3

Hook’s Pan ( Kingdom Series #5 ) by Marie Hall
I absolutely LOVE Marie Hall’s work. I became a huge fan of her writing after starting the Kingdom Series. Her books are fun, light hearted, witty and very sexy. They will keep you turning the pages until the end. ‘Hook’s Pan’ is the poignant love story of James Hook and Trishabelle. It is a modern retelling of the classic fairy tale but with a compelling twist. It is an imaginative read that is engaging, humorous and utterly addictive. The story is full of magic, characters that you will fall in love with, all set in the beautiful Wonderland of your childhood bedtime stories. This book is a great read which I highly recommend.

I loved it. It was a perfect ending to the whole series. I loved Trisha she was so funny, sarcastic, and refreshing. I thought she was perfect for Hook. Hook was soooooo brooding, hot, and funny. I loved how at the beginning they lived to tease each other merciless. It was different from the other books that the lead female was afraid to fall in love. I thought it was a great idea to do that because in truth there are a lot of girls out there who are afraid to fall in love. I loved the ending how everyone you've met in the books before came together to celebrate Trisha's and Hook's Wedding. I hope there will be a spin-off series about all the characters children.

Captain James Hook what a naughty pirate, and Trish a lonely single women looking for something. Trish mourns the death yearly of her sister, and misses her best friend Betty who married her soul mate Gerard. When Danika comes to take Trish to her soul mate Captain Hook she thinks everyone is crazy, until she is dropped at his feet on the Jolly Roger. James Hook mourns for his true love Talia, who was killed by Peter Pan. Could Trish be what he has been looking for, for so long and will Hook be the one person that can bring the love out of Trish. This is one fairy tale with a happy ending.

A very sexy tale of the ever popular Captain James Hook (is it wrong that I imagine the guy from Once Upon a Time in this??).

I really liked this story (as I do all in the Kingdom series). I love how the bad boys get a happily ever after as well ;)
