Jenna Davis's life has come to a screeching halt. After making the worst decision on her life during college, she now finds herself a single mother about to lose her home over a decade later.

So who am I? My name is Rachel Hanna, and I am a wife, mother of three incredible kids (maybe I am a BIT biased?), two lovable doggies and one cat that lives outside and thinks he owns the world. Okay, I also have a gecko now too. Don't judge me.

I started writing as a young child, and I went into the field of Journalism for many years as an adult. Now, as a romantic fiction writer, I get to live out my own daydreams every single day and share them with readers around the world!

I'm a Southern chick living near Atlanta, so I say "yes, ma'm" and "ya'll", but I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

Jenna & Kyle were high school sweethearts, but her parents forced her to break up with him. Now years later she's a divorced single mother who can't catch a break and is very much in debt. A little too woe is me with her for me to be honest.

Kyle is a wealthy property investor. He's just purchased a foreclosed house with beautiful beach views. When he goes to tell the owner to vacate the premises he's in for the shock of his life when he sees it's the woman who broke his heart all those years ago.

Overall, a nice second chance story for two people that never really got over each other. Can't say I liked the reason for the breakup, or the quickness of their reconciliation, but I loved how Kyle welcomed 5 year old, Kaitlyn, into his life in an adorable way.

*Another Hoopla bonus borrow*

Narration notes:
Ugh with only one narrator. She didn't even try to make her voice should manly, which maybe is a good thing. Either way I would have loved a male narrator.

THE ONE FOR ME is the first book by Rachel Hanna that I have read and I’m so happy I got a chance to read this heart warming story. THE ONE FOR ME is going to make you want to run to January Cove and help these people out! Rachel Hanna is a fantastic author and you can’t go wrong with anything she writes. This is one of those novels that is hard to step away from. Rachel Hanna managed to captivate me with her storytelling. I love how her characters feel completely real and are not cookie-cutter or perfect. She broke my heart with them over and over again.

THE ONE FOR ME is a wonderful story full of faith and redemption. Once you start reading, it will be very hard to stop. Jenna and Kyle were high school sweethearts but because of the pressure from her mom Jenna leaves after high school and marries a man with money whom she doesn’t really love. Years later, Jenna is a single mother divorced from her abusive, cheating husband when she crosses paths with Kyle. Their conversations had me giggling out loud but sometimes they also broke my heart. If there were ever two people who needed each other, these two are it!

Rachel Hanna will quickly become one of my favorite authors. She made me feel so many different things while I was reading her heart tugging story. One minute I’m giggling and the next there is a huge lump in my throat. The themes she weaves in are wonderful reminders that we only have this one life to live. Also, we need to remember to follow our dreams and not be afraid of what others might think. All of the characters are flawed in different ways, but you will find yourself cheering for them throughout THE ONE FOR ME. I just wanted to reach in the pages and give them all hugs. The end of the story is filled with redemption, love and a renewed sense of hope, which rounds out this lovely story perfectly. I can’t wait to read more by this wonderful author.

I struggled with the writing of this book, and how it didn't flow comfortably. I was happy to see Kyle and Jenna find each other in the end. But found myself skimming through areas that felt redundant.

Not a fan of this book. For one thing, I don't care for books where the main female character (in this case, her name is Jenna) is utterly hopeless and has to be "saved" by a rich, handsome man. Plus, Jenna's personality was immature and unlikeable.... In order to capture her "prize", she decides to play head games with him and pretend she is interested in another man. I eventually had to give this one up.

Sickly sweet second chance romance

I didn't like this book at all, I found Jenna extremely annoying, she's supposed to be a 30 something mother of a 5 yr old but acts and thinks like a teenager not to mention she comes across as being weak and a bit pathetic and Kyle isn't much better. I found myself wanting to smack some sense into them throughout the entire book. It was also a bit too sickly sweet for me, I won't continue reading the rest of the books in the series.

Honestly this was a DNF. I didn't even make it out of the first chapter. The author is very repetitive and the writing is lackluster. I quit as soon as the dialog started. In my head, I was hearing cheesy dialog from an old sitcom with the canned laugh track in the background.

Here's a paraphrased snippet of dialog:

Mom: Son, I don't mind that you want to leave my business to start your own. You'll need it for when you get married.

Son: Mom, I love it when you slip that marriage thing into our conversation. But you know I'm never getting married.

End scene...

I think the fact that in the one chapter, while introducing the characters, it was mentioned more than once that dad died in a car accident, mom owned a real estate agency, and son was starting his own real estate investment (buy, reno, sell) company... It felt like overkill.

I rarely read reviews, but I stopped partway through the chapter to see if it was just me. It wasn't. I hadn't even gotten to the "heroine" of the story, but from the other reviews, I should be thankful.

I don't DNF books very often, but this wasn't working for me in any way and I have too many books to read to continue on...

I stopped reading after chapter three. The writing was clumsy (with grammar mistakes), and the author kept repeating sentences, phrases, and plot points. A good editor is needed to get this story polished. The story itself was interesting, but there are too many stories out there to spend time on one that's lower in quality. This author knows how to craft characters that are compelling but needs to polish the writing.

Not my thing

This is a romance without any substance. It’s something I might have liked as a teenager but not for a mature person.

A juvenile story that never matured into adulthood

The book began with a love swept teenager and never got out of that phase even though it fast forwarded ten years. Jenna, was a terrible MC. She couldn't do anything for herself and moped the whole book. She kept harping about being a single mom and never getting ahead yet she's got a business degree under her belt and is waiting tables because she hates that career. Kyle wasn't terrible but he was written like a girl. Half of the things he said and feelings he portrayed were wussy. The beginning was all about the siblings and their characters in imagine they'll be more to the series. And if I read one more time about how Kyle's mom mad it happen and was an amazing woman and blah, blah, blah. Sorry this was not the book for me nor would I recommend.

This book was offered free on B&N. The story just didn't make sense to me - her parents weren't "mentally abusive" yet she was afraid of them. She did whatever they told her, including breaking up with her one true love. There were times when what was written in a sentence or paragraph seemed to contradict each other. An example: "However, she was quite demure and homely for someone with such great looks." My first thought at the word "homely" was an unattractive person, I realize there is another meaning to the word homely, but not everyone knows that. Maybe the word "homebody" would have been a better choice than homely. This is just one example, there were more, many more sentences that grated on my nerves as I read the book.

Very immature writing. I couldn't finish the book, my first and last book by this author.

I have questions about the huge plot holes. 1. Time is really relative Kaitlyn is 5 but at one point it's only a few years since Jenna left Kyle? 2. How did Nick know to go to Kyle's house looking for Jenna? 3.Really we're going to go through all of this in 3 weeks with the majority being one weekend? 4. Not one scene at work? 5.How does a foreclosure get listed for a courthouse sale before the homeowner is notified of eviction?
Definitely a lot of potential but reads more like a scripted collection of scenes than a book.
Jenna needs a therapist not a relationship.

Is this juvenile fiction?

This is a very poorly written book. Its juvenile in its tone, language, and dialogue. The characters are supposed to be in their 30's, but they interact as though they were still in high school. Not recommended.

Cute little hopeful romance. Life has Jenna in the lowest she's ever been but as fate would have it he high school sweetheart isn't far away. Navigating life as adults is hard enough but adding in pent up love can turn this short into a very slippery slope!

Juvenile

I thought the character was very juvenile. As an 18 yr old listening to her parents v you might expect that. As a married woman with a child in an abusive relationship she should be an adult, not mooning around for a past boyfriend that she broke up with.

Sweet story but the writing style felt forced, more like reading a text book than a romance novel. Threw me off from really enjoying it.

Sorry but..

I found the characters tedious and the age-old story of woman saved by a man. Characters with a bit more depth and moxie would help, not pettiness.
