Rate this book
The fairy hid from the world for a reason. Will they risk their existence for a war not their own?

Annalla's return to her mother's people is not the welcome home she hoped for. She contends with an uncooperative king and council while wrestling with tragic memories from her past, pushing her away from her friends. One wrong choice could doom everyone.

Larron sees the weight placed upon Annalla, but there is little he and their friends can do to help except show themselves as worthy allies and learn what they can about the fairy. All the while, the war continues across Elaria with losses and desperation mounting.

Can the realm come together, or will it fall to Kahnlair's dominion?

Before I start my "official" review for this book, I believe this author and series needs a huge commendation. As a baby author with this being her 3rd book, I couldn't be more impressed if I tried! Ms Shearn's remarkable storytelling is, well, remarkable! Her books are engaging, her characters astounding and the plot is out of this world, which it actually is...a new world she's created.

Annala has come a long way since we first got to meet her, half elf, half fairy, growing up in the human world, she's a full on force to be reckoned with! I'm loving her growth and her magic, which is still evolving, new skills surfacing, really cool! However.... finding the Fairy isn't quite as she expected. You'd think they would welcome a long lost Protector and bow down to her, well, not quite. They are filled with suspicion and with doubt. Hidden for so long, they're loathe to expose themselves, nevermind to aid in a battle they deem does not concern them. Boy are they in for a nasty surprise! The burden of protecting the Sanctuary falls soley on Annala's shoulders, literally! If she were to fail, so would Sanctuary and all it's inhabitants. No pressure right? There's also the matter of the dying Woodlands, compounded with the little thing called bond mate, well, I take my hat off to Annala at how she processes. Oh, yeah, that bond thing is real, it's strong and the other half Lorran, is the kindest, most patient and understanding Elf in existence! Love him!

Patrice, my word is she a stunning character! Such an awesome friend to Annala, as are the rest of her unlikely companions, human, Dwalf and Elf. I loved the comradery, the true friendships they forged and the all encompassing loyalty. And what a precocious sweetheart Tula is! She and her father Rolan, historians, brought in an extra layer of delight, especially Tula, her exuberance and star struck attitude brought many a smile to my face. There are so many unbelievably impressive characters, I couldn't beginning to name them all or to describe how vital they are to this very engaging tale. So many stole my heart, their emotions tugged on mine, they are all so rich in their diversity, so easy to understand, like and dislike. Dislike? Perhaps too gentle a word to describe Khahlair! Evil? Delusional? Power mad? Yeah, that would be more appropriate! As for King Delon, ugghh! Did I dislike him with gusto, like dude, what's your problem? But there's a twist, a twist of such magnitude, I had no idea what hit me!

The further I read, the more my heart pounded til at the end of the book, it was seriously wobbling. There are many different events, in different locations happening concurrently, all leading to an ultimate goal, saving the Realm. It is tense. Dramatic. Tender. Sweet. There's self discovery, budding romance and much much more. An elaborate, well thought out story of so many aspects, so much determination, so much at stake, a woven plot to tease the brain and the senses. All of them. What's left to say except you need to read this remarkable breathtaking book and series.

This series keeps getting better and better with each book. It’s an exciting and gripping adventure that continues to pull you in as Annalla and Larron face unco-operation from the people of faerie as the war rages on. Annalla is really growing into herself and her magic and is a little shocked at the reception she faces, the suspicion, the loathing and the doubt. Larron is an incredible character and always has Annalla’s back and their bond is super strong. He’s kind, he’s reliable, he’s strong and an overall fantastic partner.
It’s a wonderfully continued story that is bursting full of mythology, magic , action, adventure, suspense and has beautiful and descriptive world building and is a series I am very much enjoying.

I don’t think I’ve EVER referred to anyone else’s review before but Beba hit the nail on the head.
I find it difficult to go into that much detail but I hasten to add , I agree with every word.
This series has been monumental in terms of depth of the characters and details of the plot/ storyline.
I would add that the world that Tiffany weaves can certainly “ take you over”. In my view, that’s the point of a good book, to be able to totally immerse yourself in another world.
This is a series NOT to be missed.
Any other books that this author writes, I’ll be there like a shot.
