Maddie Templeton has always been an unconventional artist. Themes of submission and domination pulse through her erotic artwork, and she’s happily explored these lustful themes both on and off the canvas.
But, when Theo Hunter enters her life, she is presented with a new challenge. Maddie sets out to test his resolve as she teases, torments and toys with him. However, as Maddie drives Theo to breaking point, she soon becomes unsure whether her own resolve will hold out!
At the same time, Maddie must put on the exhibition of a lifetime. As the hottest gallery in town clamours for her best work, Maddie pushes her models harder and higher until they are physically, sexually and emotionally exhausted. Will Maddie’s models continue to submit to her, or will she push them too far? And will she be ready for the exhibition in time?
The only way to find out is to wait and see…and the waiting only makes it sweeter!
Cock-teasing combined with deferred gratification and public sex? This is a must read book.
Maddie spends her day helping couples to be more comfortable with their sexuality. She assists people who are shy about their body and hide their sexual desires. Maddie's gift is being able to see into the heart of a person's sexual fantasies and bringing it to surface. One small detail, Maddie is not a sex therapist; she's a talented artist.
While BDSM isn't mentioned much nor are the terms BD, D/s or SM bandied about, make no mistakes, this book is a hawt kinky D/s tale. Maddie comes across as part confessor, part professional dominatrix and a whole lot of naughty minx. She controls her models' lusty desires through skillful application of deferred gratification to increase sexual tension and culminate into an explosive orgasm. Is Maddie looking for more nude models? Sign me up! I willingly submit to be her nude model in exchange for her brand of D/s and edging. It's smoking hawt.
Ms. JayBee is a very good storyteller. Her characters are sensual and kinky. Her sex scenes are explosively hot in a minimalist way. She sparingly uses fancy devices. Instead, it's the mind fuck and undertone of D/s which is commanding the scene and making it deliciously depraved.
One could argue this story is just porn with slutty sex. I would argue that this is a very well written story with a plot and interesting characters. It's a blend of an erotic journey as well as an artist coming into her own. While Maddie sends each of her models into a coming of age erotic exploration, she is strolling down a less traveled path with a man, Theo.
Theo is a character who frustrates me. He's such a man! His makes a couple of poor decisions because he's easily led astray by his dick. Still, he's not a bad man. He's definitely no white knight in shining armor. What he is, is someone who can match Maddie's zest for life and understand her artist soul. The merry chase she leads him on goes awry a few times. When people use the phrase "it's complicated" to explain a relationship, they mean Maddie and Theo.
Ms. JayBee also does an excellent job of keeping the reader's attention by creating unique scenes and scenarios as well as realistic conflicts between characters. This story contains it all - betrayal, obsession, love, friendship and above all - hawt sex. This book is highly recommended to voyeuristic readers who love a good cock tease.
Oh my goodness what an incredible read in so many ways...I have just finished the last page, its had me addicted for 3 whole days. This review has been a long time coming as I wanted to find the time to completely indulge myself.
I loved, loved, loved this full length longer novel as I was able to get fully immersed in the imagination of Miss Jaybee; now I'm gutted its over... so where to start as I loved every page. The idea for this novel is genius and is so different from any book I've read.
Being a brilliant erotic artist Maddie Templeton sees art in everything, her speciality is erotica that captures not just the essence of sexual fantasy but the emotions that go with it. Each work of art involves getting her models to reveal those sexual emotions for her to capture; it requires her unique way of working with her models by building the sexual tension and her saying "The waiting only makes it sweeter".
The sexy hunk Theo Hunter is hired to do some lighting in her studio and is intrigued by the pretty unconventional artist, so Maddie decides to test him, if he likes her, he will wait, and she embarks on testing just how keen and genuine this guy is.
Kays creative use of using phone texting introduces and involves us with Theo even though he may not be in the scenes, we can sense his impatience as she teases him in many different, unique ways, mostly using Maddie's mobile and its camera giving snippets away about what she was doing with her models.
This is phone voyeurism at its best, I actually felt so sorry for him many times as she teases and promises things to him, how long will this last though? You know you have a good book when it invokes different emotions and Making him wait does just that.
We get to meet Maddies sexy models and watch how they become more comfortable with their bodies and due to Maddies (Kay's) clever use of dominance and submission they learn about themselves sexually becoming confident and sexy within. Sexual tension is the key to this book and Kay is the Queen of that.
Will Theo and her models exact revenge of being made to wait, or is Maddie in control all the time anyway, the clever use of ideas actually make the reader unsure whose in charge at some points this is genius!
Maddie has the chance of a lifetime to display her art in a gallery in London and has little time to get twelve pieces of her best work ready. I loved Kay's resourcefulness and ideas, who needs canvas and paint when their are other mediums to work on......? I feel Kay knows quite a bit about the art world and has introduced us, as the reader in combining her knowledge of artistic mediums within the book to make the story so very unique.
I loved the fact Maddie's ex girlfriend Tania and her deceitful ways were thrown into the mix, will she destroy what Maddie has worked so hard for?
One of my favourite chapters combines Maddie teaching Tania a lesson at sametime as telephone sex with Theo. This is the ultimate in telephone sex oh wow but I'm not telling you anymore, you really do have to read this book yourself.
Making him wait is certainly not for feint hearted or vanilla lovers, its super charged sexual tension with plenty of orals, f/f, f/f/m and a m/m and a 4some. What is even more clever is that Kay has made sure its not just her characters that are left waiting for that perfect moment; its true it really does make things sweeter and its all completely believable.
Opinion
The whole plot was incredibly imaginative, so clever and exciting to follow and I loved the longer length of the novel it was brilliant to lose myself in Maddies world completely. The whole story grips you with sexual tension running high throughout and I love Maddie; what a fantastic character she's so relatable and I love combination of dominatrix and artist it fits together so well. I also loved the image on the front cover Sweetmeats press make a fab choice with this, its so modern and super sexy and perfect for this storyline! If you love dominance in your erotica Dont....wait to read this book, it oozes sexual tension, submission and dominance at the turn of every page an incredibly addictive read. Making him wait is an alltime favourite of mine with Kay's work so far.
Kay....please dont make me wait for another like this it was brilliant and I loved it, can we have a part 2!
Kay Jaybee has managed to write a novel that literally ouses sex, Dominance and submission from beginning to end, and yet, I have just finished reading and I am desperate for the next couple of chapters!
This book is very clever. The main characters and the supporting cast are (literally) painted and yet they evolve and emerge as the story progresses, filling the pages with unexpected plots-twists and grenades (thanks @miss_rosie ) to become new and exciting pawns moving through the carefully crafted game Kay Jaybee sets out through Maddie and Theo, her main characters.
Theo, her leading man is both so very believably written, a tradesman, who starts out as a proper ‘lad’ who is thrown into this game unwittingly, however not unwillingly. His journey, along with Maddie’s, leads the pair through unexpected turns for each character, exploring their desires, passion and resolve…!
The book is set against the backdrop of Maddie’s erotic atwork and an impending exhibition. I absolutely loved the way that the tempo of the book seems to match the speed with with Maddie is having to work, although I have to say, I would switch my job with her’s, or her model’s in a heatbeat, if only I could draw, or sit still…..!
Much of the book takes place within the same four walls, however it is never dull, nor even similar to the previous chapter. The plot manouevres around the artwork and sexual tension and desires of the characters brilliantly, with the nature of the paintings, and the poses often becoming blurred with the reality of the erotic encounters. I found the book incredibly imaginative, especially on the artistic front, both drawn, painted, bound and photographed!
What I also really enjoyed about the novel was that the whole book was, as described on the front cover, Erotica told on a canvas of baondage and discipline, however very differently to a lot of the BDSM erotica I read there was very little pain play. The sex is enticingly written and made me ponder (more than once) whether the author is herself a Dominatrix, submissive or a switch as the layers of humiliation and psychological aspects of BDSM were so billiantly conveyed without the need to resort to physical acts of BDSM. The final two scenes had me squirming, as the characters submitted to many things on many levels and with anticpation of what was ‘promised’.
I would fully recommend that you all go and buy Making Him Wait, a 5 star novel…. When is the second book out?!
Thank you to Sweetmeats Press for sending me this novel to review.
Maddie Templeton is an artist whose work has evolved over her career until she is currently doing erotic works. She helps people overcome their sexual insecurities by putting them in erotic poses while she paints them. Sometimes those sessions end in orgasm, sometimes the model is made to wait. The anticipation, as well as the wonderful art, keeps them coming back to the Dominant artist.
After deciding she needs some lighting installed, the electrician who shows up is handsome, hot and more than fascinated by her work. Maddie decides he’s perfect for her to dominate and when Theo doesn’t tell her to take a hike, not only allowing the domination, but upping the stakes, she thinks she may have found the perfect man for her.
When Maddie is invited to showcase her work at a hot gallery she has only a short amount of time to get together 12 pieces to show. Working with her models and Theo isn’t going to be enough to get the job done. She has no choice but to call her ex lover, Tania to help. Tania may be a real pain in the ass, but she can hold a pose forever. It’s a race against time to get all the pieces completed before the show and keep her sexually charged models under control. Will she succeed? Or will she fail?
This was one hot story! Well-written and fast-paced with well-developed characters I felt as if I was right there experiencing it all firsthand. The book is filled with a wide variety of hot scenes and the emotions spill across the page. I also enjoyed seeing the many mediums an artist can use to showcase their talents. Not being an artist myself it was interesting to see Maddie create her pieces. Not just because they were so very hot *fans self*, but because they were so varied and fascinating. Kay Jaybee paints a most visually delicious story to be sure!

Kay Jaybee has done it again. I didn't want to put it down. Maddie is such great character. Maddie is an erotic artist who gets her subjects do do what ever she wants. She gets them to open up about their feelings and rewards them with pleasure. Then we have poor Theo. Theo would be the only character not getting any pleasure without permission from Maddie. Theo is an electrician that has the hotts for Maddie. Maddie and Thoeo have a texting relation ship with the promises of more in the future. Maddie has received an invite to show her art in a gallery but she is afraid she won't make the deadline. With the help of her current clients they manage to get all the pieces needed and in the process Maddie and Theo are drawn closer together. Maddie is such a tease when it come to Theo and I really don't know how he stuck around but it all paid off in the end. If you like to read about sex with f/f, m/f, f/f,f/m (yes that many) you will definitely love this book! I received this book as a review copy in return for an honest review.
This is the first book I've read of Kay Jaybee's but it certainly won't be the last. Her characters are realistic and likable and l soon found myself drawn into their fascinating world. This story is about artist Maddie Templeton, a wonderful, warm, sensual character who uses her many artistic talents to explore her sexuality and encourage those around her to do the same. Kay paints a delicious picture of Maddie's studio and her imagery puts the reader right there in the room to mingle with the sexually charged characters therein. Maddie's relentless teasing of electrician Theo Hunter is exciting in the extreme. We feel every ounce of intense, unspent desire between them and urge Theo to hang in there because we know it's going to be worth every minute of the frustration he so obviously feels. I love the fact that Maddie isn't over confident and that she is serious about her work. The story is fast paced, well written and very sexy. Put it on your list you won't be disappointed. Well done to you Kay!
I found this to be an interesting and unpredictable story. It has an unusual premise, with the main character Maddie being an artist specialising in very erotic work, who has to quickly produce enough work for a gallery show. Her models provide an interesting cast of characters, one of whom is a former lover who likes being dominant.
The electrician Maddie employs to help with lighting in her studio is drawn in like a moth to a flame, as Maddie explores her developing interest in dominance with him and her models. With the models, it’s all very hands-on and interactive. With the electricioan, it’s provocative and teasing mind-games with him. But that’s a tricky game to play, and she needs to stay in control…
Maddie has gifts: the trompe-l'œil technique of the portrait artist and the rare ability to connect with her sitters, psychologically, like a therapist, sexually, like the kinky tart she secretly is.
And Maddie has another talent: as a domme with a chest of drawers that contain "every instrument of domination and submission imaginable." Then, there's Theo, the sex oozing from every pore electrician whose text messages send currents of buzzing pleasure to all the most sensitive places
Artist, lover, dominatrix, Maddie has sculpted from her surroundings the perfect life and Kay Jaybee in 'Making Him Wait' the picture-perfect set up for an unhurried, well-written, hugely entertaining, multi-media journey into classy erotica – men, women, whatever your fancy, Mistress Jaybee guides you through her Chinese puzzle of a plot in a way that stole my breath and made my underarms tingle.
Driving the action is Maddie's big break with a show at a major gallery, heightening the tension as she shamelessly seduces her models and produces portraits that capture the very essence of sex. Mesmerising, thrilling, word perfect, a triumph.
